Engström, Anders, Gustavsson, Jalmar January 2014 (has links)
Injuries and sick-leave is a common feature for reinforcement workers today. This is mainlydue to the fact that reinforcement work is done in an exposed environment with many stressfactors and highly repetitive work. These operations are often carried out in unsuitableworking positions, these positions creates a major burden on the bones and joints and causesmicro- damages on muscles. With repetitive work these injuries are not given time to healproperly and will gradually become worse. The body will not be able to handle the stress of working in a work environment such as thisand musculoskeletal disorders can be a result of this. The injury will make itself known aspain in the musculoskeletal system and causes reduced movability; the injured worker willtherefore not be able to perform the same work tasks as before. The worst case scenario willbe long sick-leave that result in early retirement of the employee. In the current situation early retirement is something that affects 630 construction workers andthere is nothing to suggest that reinforcement workers would be under-represented in thiscategory, on the contrary. This issue will become worse now that the next generation ofreinforcement workers will have a lower basic physics than those before them. Therefore theyare more sensitive to just stress related injury such as musculoskeletal disorders. That is whyit is important now more than ever to find the problem areas and identify them. Failure to doso can lead to reinforcement workers not being able to work until their full retirement age. Itis in the employees, the company and the state's interest to ensure that all workers are able towork to full retirement age when sick leave results in high costs for all parties. The authors have therefore investigated if the use of precut and bent reinforcement and extraservices improve working conditions in the construction site. The authors have alsoinvestigated how the reinforcement process should be designed to prevent work-relatedinjuries and aids that are available at the workplace. To investigate this, the authors startedwith a literature study that included reinforcement, ergonomics and work-related injuries. When the authors felt that they had a sufficient foundation was Thomas Eriksson at CelsaSteel Service contacted and site visits booked. Workplace observations were carried outaccording to the PATH method with complementary interviews. The authors have concluded that the workplace provides aids so that work can be performedin an ergonomic way. However the reinforcement workers choose themselves to perform thework without the aids provided because they say that some aids slow them down. The authorshave perceived a low level of knowledge about ergonomics among the reinforcement workers, this leads to that the workers don’t consider the consequences of bad ergonomic which resultin improper work execution and work-related injuries. The authors also concluded that ahigher degree of prefabrication of reinforcement used results to improve the workingenvironment, even the use of extra services such as color-marked reinforcement, color-sortedreinforcement and timed deliveries contribute to a better work environment.

Armering med tunnplåt / Reinforcement with sheet metal

Ali, Nedim, Byström, Christoffer January 2021 (has links)

Hartung, Emelie January 2016 (has links)
Reinforced concrete is one of the most common construction materials we have. Thanks to the steel reinforced concrete, construction can take both the tensile stresses that arise from both the concrete's selfweight and external loads. The cost of a concrete structure depends on several factors; reinforcement and man-hours often have a significant financial impact on the overall cost of a building project. The constructor task is to design the concrete element and ensure that the tensile force requirement is met. The need varies throughout the structure but usually are concrete elements designed with the same amount of reinforcement that required at the maximum torque throughout the structure. By adapting the reinforcement’s tensile force capacity throughout the structure can dimensioning conditions be fulfilled with a smaller amount of reinforcement, which offers a lower reinforcement cost. As a constructor, accurate calculations are often excluded because of time pressure. Being able to customize the reinforcement of the structure is an opportunity that the constructors have but it requires more working hours. The constructor would need to add more hours to reduce the amount of reinforcement, which would mean that the contractor pays the constructor more for working, but saves even more money on materials. This could therefore lead to a financial gain for both the constructor and entrepreneur. Which leads to the question: Is it economically feasible for a constructor to use reinforcement adapted to the draft requirement? The intention is to clarify whether it is profitable to the constructor to spend time reduce the amount of reinforcement in concrete slabs.   A comparison of the amount of reinforcement has been made between an existing dimension without optimized reinforcement and a new dimension with optimized reinforcement. To get such a reasonable result as possible, existing projects have been selected where the same conditions has been used. The study dealt with a piled concrete slab of 72.5 m2. Calculations for the beams were made by hand and the slab with the calculation programs FEM Design 3D Structure and Concrete Beam. The calculations are made according to the standard system Eurocodes 2: Design of concrete structures and the Board's Design Regulations.   The calculations resulted in additional cost of 1450 SEK for a concrete slab with optimized reinforcement. For many of the same slab is made savings as the same drawing can be used for all concrete slabs.

A value adding work : A study of the working environment as well as the loading and unloading of reinforcement for wind turbine foundations

Moström, Henrik January 2015 (has links)
In the construction industry, it appears that about 30-35% of the total cost of a constructionproject consists of wastage due to the fact that resources are spent on unnecessary ways suchas error costs incurred by various reasons, waste of materials, waiting times for materials ormachinery as well as work-related injuries. About 5% of the serious accidents in 2009-2010occurred when the person loaded, unloaded, carried or moved something and about 20% ofthose who were hit were construction workers and metalworkers. Many of these injurieswould be prevented by reviewing the working environment at the workplace. Thereinforcement of workers uses is often heavy, long and difficult to manage, and this meansthat there are a number of risks that a reinforcement fitter are exposed to on a daily basis. Some of the risks included are: heavy lifting, unhealthy working postures, the risk of trippingand slipping over the material. At present, there are a variety of different cut and bended rebar types in the constructionindustry. Celsa Steel Service (Celsa) has developed a number of value-adding services thatfacilitate the reinforcement fitters work. The purpose of this report was to identify theworking conditions for the involved parties (reinforcement fitters, truck driver and craneoperator) at the reinforcement procedure of wind turbine foundations. As well as the deliverymodel that generates the biggest time savings and how much of the reinforcement fittersworking hours that is productive work. The project consisted of frequency studies of the assembly process of the reinforcement to awind turbine foundation built by Stenger & Ibsen Construction AB on Rammeldalsberget, time studies during loading and unloading as well as ongoing discussions with the involvedparties. The Frequency study gives a good idea of how working hours are distributed and arecomparable with results of previous studies conducted by the Josephson, Eriksson andFrödell (2011). The reinforcement fitter is in a bad working posture approximately 30% of thetime they are working. The author has in this project studied the working environment for reinforcement fitterswhich consists of a number of risks which can lead to work-related injuries and occupationaldiseases. There is a lack of tools that can be used as aid and a large part of the research aboutthe topic is outdated. It also emerged that the value-adding service, color unloading, do notachieve the desired effect on this particular project, which contains a very small number ofdifferent cut and bended rebars.iii

A comparison study between site cast walls and half shell precast walls : Cost and time for respective construction method

Akram, Hoger, Kasem, Kani January 2015 (has links)
The thesis is a comparison between two different construction methods: half shell precast walls and site cast concrete walls. The study has been made for SEFA Betongentreprenad AB who is aiming for the most profitable construction method. The important aspects, which are emphasized in this thesis are costs, time and working environment. The result shows that a building with half shell precast walls is causing increased material cost in the project which also leads to a higher prime cost for the concrete contractor. On the contrary it will require shorter time schedule compared to working with the site concrete wall which the main contractor benefits from, because less time equals decreased overhead cost and management cost. In addition half shell precast walls provides a better working environment compared to site cat concrete walls because less work activities are required at the worksite which also leads to a reduction of accidents.Time and cost is based on unit-time from Nybyggnadslistan 1999 and the price inquiry. To compile the prime cost and time for the total work a careful calculation has been performed in various computer programs so like Bluebem, Wikells and Excel. The survey is based on documentation of a project which includes both a school and student dormitory in Lund.

A total cost analysis of reinforcement management / Totalkostnadsanalys av armeringshantering

Göransson, Olof, Nilsson, Andreas January 2017 (has links)

Möjligheter och fördelar med plattrambroar utförda i modern injekteringsbetong och rostfri armering / Opportunities and benefits of slab-frame bridges cast in modern prepact concrete and stainless steel reinforcement

Bodin, Viktor, Bergström, Niklas N. January 2011 (has links)
Plattrambro, modern injekteringsbetong, rostfri armering, betong, koldioxid. / When a new slab-frame bridge is being built the environment is affected in a negative way. This is because it requires a large amount of concrete and reinforcement. One of concrete’s main ingredients is cement which stands for a significant share of the global carbon dioxide emissions. Also the steel is emitting a large amount of carbon dioxide in the production. Slab-frame bridges are often designed for L100, which means a life expectancy of 120 years. But with today’s version of slab-frame bridges it is difficult to achieve when the coating and edge beams are torn after 30-40 years. This report discusses new solutions to the construction of the slab-frame bridge, where modern prepact concrete will be used instead of the conventional construction concrete that today is used to build a slab-frame bridge. The modern prepact concrete has many advantages over the conventional construction concrete. Firstly, coarse aggregate is used in the prepact concrete which results in less shrinkage. Secondly, the production of modern prepact concrete uses much less cement content which is beneficial from an environmental standpoint. When a slab-frame bridge is cast with modern prepact concrete the coating will in this case be removed in order to cut down on the maintenance. Instead the concrete cover layer will be increased by 10 mm to manage the wear from road traffic. Also stainless steel reinforcement will be placed in the bridge cast with modern prepact concrete to avoid the risk of reinforcement exposed to corrosion. The report shows that savings can be made both in terms of cost and also the environment. This is by changing the materials and the geometric arrangements for the design and construction of a slab-frame bridge. Slab-frame bridge, modern prepact concrete, stainless steel reinforcement, concrete, carbon dioxide.
