Historie a současnost klášterní knihovny u sv. Tomáše v Praze / Past and Present of the Convent Library of Saints Thomas in Prague

Sladká, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
Monastery library of Order of Hermits of Saint Augustin in Prague is an outstanding book collection of considerable scientific and historical value. Nowadays, it consists of more than 18 000 volumes. Saint Thomas monastery was founded by Wenceslaus II. in 1278 and had, from the very beginning,, a leading role among other monasteries of this order in Bohemia. From the early 14th century an Augustinian university was run there - as the only one in vast province of Bavaria, to which Bohemia belonged. In the 17th century, an independent Bohemian province was established and Saint Thomas monastery became a natural centre of it. This diploma thesis aims to provide an overview of a history of library and to introduce significant members of Augustinian order, who contributed to development (in time of prosperity) of library. Author is particularly focused on early modern period, to which scholars have not paid attention yet, and events connected to the end of the Thirty Years War, when, as it was assumed in the past, the library sustained big damage. Apart from that, everyday interest and care for books and libraries inside the order will be characterised and the cultural and historical impact of the library of Saint Thomas convent will also be emphasized. Origins and medieval period of the library is...

Creating the Modern Spanish School: Fortuny, Madrazo, and Manet

Ralston, Daniel Sobrino January 2024 (has links)
The taste for all things Spanish that swept France in the 1860s had profound, if misunderstood, effects on modern French and Spanish art. French artists were fascinated by both the perceived exoticism of contemporary Spain as well as the newly popular paragons of its art historical past. The lessons of Velázquez and Goya, in prevailing accounts of modernism, were learned best by avant-garde artists like Édouard Manet (1832–1883), whom a contemporary critic went so far as to call the “Spaniard of Paris.” My dissertation contends, instead, with the other Spaniards of Paris, successful expatriate artists who worked between the French capital, Rome, and Madrid. These artists, led by Mariano Fortuny (1838–1874), considered themselves the rightful interpreters of the Spanish tradition. I argue that Fortuny and his circle shrewdly positioned their work in relation to French ideas about Spanish art, both avant-garde and conservative, as well as Spain’s developing national art historical narratives, even though they often lived beyond their nation’s borders. I demonstrate that these artists, whose seemingly unassuming genre paintings were undergirded by a pronounced but hitherto unexamined nationalism, sought to shape the Spanish art historical tradition; present themselves as its inheritors; and influence the collecting of Spanish art, especially in the United States, in the final third of the nineteenth century.

"Análise do padrão de expressão do produto de PKHD1, o gene mutado na doença renal policística autossômica recessiva" / Analysis of the expression pattern of the PKHD1 gene product, mutated in autossomal recessive polycystic kidney disease

Menezes, Luis Fernando Carvalho de 15 June 2004 (has links)
Nossos resultados indicam que PKHD1 codifica isoformas de membrana e solúveis / PKHD1, the gene mutated in autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease, presents a complex splicing pattern, associated with multiple alternative transcripts. In this work we have studied the expression profile of its product, polyductin. Western blot analysis revealed putative membrane products of > 440 kDa and 230 kDa, and of ~140 kDa in soluble fractions in kidney, liver and pancreas. Immunohistochemistry studies showed staining in renal collecting duct and thick ascending limb of Henle, in biliary and pancreatic ductal epithelia and, in the embryonic period, in ureteric bud, biliary and pancreatic ducts and salivary gland. Immunofluorescence and immunoelectron microscopy studies suggest that polyductin localizes to primary apical cilium, apical membrane and cytoplasm of collecting duct cells. Our data indicate that PKHD1 codifies membrane and soluble isoforms

Analýza činnosti dopravního operátora / An analysis of a transport operator´s job description

HOUZIMOVÁ, Jana January 2008 (has links)
An analysis of a transport operator´s job description My degree work is centred on the problems of a transport operator´s job in a forwarding agency. The introduction provides an explanation of a term of "dispatch service" and explains why logistics is so important in transport. Then there is a description of the transport development after 1990 and the changes transport had to undergo in the time of globalization. The main part of the work deals with the operator´s working procedure from an offer to a demand, an order and other actions to the final realization. A model example is given to represent an actual transporting process. The work also states conditions under which transport is executed, for example payment terms and terms of delivery. Next chapters outline the way of calculation, give a detailed description of collecting service (which is implemented within the bounds of CS Expres system) and of storing problems including the introduction of bar codes in stores and possibilities of logistic service extension. The conclusion is focused on the firm developing strategy.
