The theoretical support of this work ocurred by a deepening of the themes already raised earlier by Campbell & Barbosa (2006) and McCracken (2003), in their studies of culture and consumption; Schouten & McAlexander (1995) in their research on subcultures of consumption; Hall (2005), who exposed his theories about the formation of identity in the modern world; Douglas & Isherwood (2004), who studied the rituals of consumption; Belk (1988), with his research on the extension self. The present study is of exploratory, character and was conducted in-depth interviews in order to let emerge the feelings and emotions of the respondents, for better orientation towards the analysis of the data. Data were collected from 14 Toys consumer’s, of both genders, aged between 19 and 38 years, live in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and the Distrito Federal, during the moths of July and August 2009. To achieve the proposed objectives, the research method used was qualitative, with prioritization of the subject and subjectivity, using an interpretative structure for data analysis. The results showed that Toy Art consumer’s use their possession to compose their social identity and as a form of differentiation and expression. The extension of the selves just happens during this search for the unusual, for a possession that distinguishes from other people. / Our intention in this dissertation is to research the trajectory of the painting Cleopatra that belonged to Le Gros Collection until 1859; moving to Academia Imperial de Belas Artes (Imperial Academy of Fine Arts) in 1860, by purchase or donation, integrating the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes and finally being destined to the collection Museum D. João VI, having as incorporation date of the year 1979. We argue the possibility of this work being a copy using a model based on Genoese artist Bartolomeo Biscaino (1632-1657) from the comparison of some of his paintings with the work in question. Here it will also be discussed how the Italian art of the seventeenth century represented and idealized character Cleopatra. Likewise it will be analyzed the possible function of the Cleopatra painting within the Academia Imperial de Belas Arters (AIBA) in Rio de Janeiro. By having the canvas belonged to the private collection of the J.G. Le Gros (João Guilherme Le Gros or Legros), and integrated the catalog of Exposições Gerais de Belas Artes (EGBA) from 1859, 1860, 1863, 1866, 1889, 1890, 1891 and the Pequeno Catálogo de Bens da ENBA de 1957, we will research the history of this collector and the practice of collecting in Rio de Janeiro in nineteenth century. We will also do an analysis of his collection in order to understand his taste for art.

The Soapstone Birds of Great Zimbabwe : Archaeological Heritage, Religion and Politics in Postcolonial Zimbabwe and the Return of Cultural Property

Matenga, Edward January 2011 (has links)
At least eight soapstone carvings of birds furnished a shrine, Great Zimbabwe, in the 19th century. This large stonewalled settlement, once a political and urban centre, had been much reduced for four centuries, although the shrine continued to operate as local traditions dictated. The Zimbabwe Birds were handed down from a past that has only been partially illuminated by archaeological inquiry and ethnography, as has the site as such. This thesis publishes the first detailed catalogue of the Birds and attempts to reconstruct their provenance at the site based on the earliest written accounts. A modern history of the Birds unfolds when the European settlers removed them from the site in dubious transactions, claiming them as rewards of imperial conquest. As the most treasured objects from Great Zimbabwe, the fate of the Birds has been intertwined with that of the site in a matrix of contested meanings and ownership. This thesis explores how the meanings of cultural objects have a tendency to shift and to be ephemeral, demonstrating the ability of those in power to appropriate and determine such meanings. In turn, this has a bearing on ownership claims, and gives rise to an “authorized heritage discourse” syndrome.   The forced migrations of the Zimbabwe Birds within the African continent and to Europe and their subsequent return to their homeland decades later are characterised by melodramatic episodes of manoeuvring by traders, politicians and theologians, and of the return of stolen property cloaked as an amicable barter deal, or a return extolled as an act of generosity. International doctrines that urge the return of cultural property are influenced by Western hegemonic ideologies. Natural justice is perverted, as stolen property acquires a (superior) significance in its new context, which merits the extinction of the original provenance. This leaves “generosity” and goodwill as the promises of the future, holding the fate of one Zimbabwe Bird still kept in exile in South Africa.

Konstrukce kráčejícího mobilního robotu / Design of walking mobile robot

Szabari, Mikuláš January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the construction of a walking mobile robot, which is intended for passing through a rugged or forest terrain, whose task is to collect the sample. The first part is devoted to the review of walking robots. Follow-up an analysis of two-legged and four-leg walking robot technologies and a brief overview of drives. The second part is devoted to problem analysis and design variant. The work contains 4 design variants in the form of schemes. Using the multi-criteria analysis, the variants were evaluated and the optimal variant was chosen taking into account the representative parameters. The third part is devoted to the construction of the chosen variant, it is divided into body and leg construction. The overall design is processed in the form of a virtual 3D model. In the leg construction, the design itself, but also the calculations of drives, shafts, gears and belt transmissions are solved. The end of the thesis is devoted to drawing documentation based on 3D model and economic evaluation. Follow-up and discussion with possible continuation and use in practice.
