Didactic engineering is a methodology adapted especially to observe classroom phenomena, composed basically of four steps: 1) a preliminary analysis, where considerations regarding the general educational theoretical chart are made, 2) an a priori analysis that allows the formulation of cognitive and didactic hypothesis, 3) the conception of an educational system that can execute them, the accomplishment and the observation of the didactic sequences constructed, 4) the a posteriori analysis, that is, a critical analysis of the production, in relation to the original problem. Current reality presents itself as a singular moment for the use of new teaching technologies. The study of theory, creation, application and analysis of didactic engineering, sustained rigorously by theory, will give us information about the knowledge acquired in what concerns the contents studied in financial mathematics, about the efficiency of the didactic sequence, aspects related to the use of the software chosen, thus generating indicators about possible advantages of the use of technology in teaching and possible disadvantages that are important to subside teachers in preparing ways to approach determined subjects. The experiment was made in a class of students from the eighth semester of the Mathematics course at UNIFRA in the second semester of 2006. The concepts of simple and compound capitalization and simple discount were introduced through problem situations using Excel. After the a posteriori analysis, it was observed that most of the students got to the definitions of the subjects proposed, and with the help of the electronic spreadsheet resolved all the activities proposed, that is, expressed correctly simple capitalization where interest always incises over seed capital, compound capitalization, where interest also incises over the accumulated interest on seed capital and understood that in discount the tax incises over the total amount. It was also observed that the students from the mathematics course are too attached to problems which results are simply numeric, presenting difficulties in generalizing and interpreting results of experiences. This experience illustrates an adequate way to use new technology in teaching financial mathematics. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar resultados de uma experimentação, na qual foi aplicada a metodologia da engenharia didática, tendo como finalidade introduzir o conceito de capitalização simples e composta e desconto simples com uso da planilha eletrônica do Excel. A engenharia didática é uma metodologia particularmente adaptada para a realização de observações de fenômenos em classe e composta, basicamente, de quatro etapas: 1) uma análise previa onde são feitas considerações sobre o quadro teórico didático geral, 2) uma análise a priori que permite formular hipóteses cognitivas e didáticas, 3) a concepção de um ensino que as execute, a realização e a observação das seqüências didáticas construídas, 4) a análise a posteriori, que é a crítica da produção, em relação à problemática inicial. A realidade atual se apresenta como um momento singular para a utilização de novas tecnologias no ensino. O estudo das teorias, criação, aplicação e análise de uma engenharia didática, com todo rigor sustentado pela teoria, nos dará informações sobre a aprendizagem dos conteúdos de matemática financeira desenvolvidos, sobre a validade da seqüência didática, elementos sobre o uso do software envolvido, enfim, teremos indicadores sobre possíveis vantagens do uso das tecnologias no ensino e possíveis desvantagens que são importantes para subsidiarem os professores na preparação das abordagens dos conteúdos. A experimentação foi realizada em uma turma do oitavo semestre do Curso de Matemática da UNIFRA no semestre 2006/2. Os conceitos de capitalização simples e composta e desconto simples foram introduzidos através de situações problemas com auxílio da planilha eletrônica do Excel. Após a análise a posteriori, observou-se que a maioria dos alunos chegou às definições dos conteúdos propostos e com auxílio da planilha resolveram todas as atividades sugeridas, isto é, expressaram corretamente a capitalização simples onde os juros incidem sempre sobre o capital inicial, capitalização composta, onde os juros incidem também sobre os juros acumulados ao capital inicial e compreenderam que no desconto a taxa incide sobre o montante. Observou-se também que os alunos do curso de matemática estão muito presos a problemas cujos resultados são simplesmente numéricos, apresentando dificuldades em generalizar e interpretar resultados de experiências. Esta experiência ilustra uma utilização adequada de novas tecnologias no ensino de matemática financeira.

Matematikundervisning med digitala verktyg : Hur elever upplever undervisning och lärande med digitala verktyg

Hur kan man undervisa med det digitala verktyget Excel inom matematiken på ett effektivt sätt? Forskningens teorier visar att för att lyckas måste undervisningen planeras och genomföras med ett tydligt syfte om hur det digitala verktyget ska användas för att skapa lärande. Det som krävs är att läraren har kunskaper inom samtliga av de tre delarna ämnesinnehåll, det digitala verktyget och pedagogisk förmåga samt hur de ska integreras. Utifrån forskningens teorier har jag planerat och genomfört två lektioner inom statistik för årskurs sju, för att undersöka hur elever upplever undervisning och lärande med digitala verktyg. Metoden som har valt för att påvisa om digitala verktyget påverkar elevers upplevelse av undervisningen är experiment. Halva klassen har arbetat med det digitala verktyget Excel och den andra halvan med papper och penna. För att undersöka skillnaderna mellan grupperna har jag genomfört en enkätundersökning och intervjuat den delen av klassen som arbetade med Excel och hela klassen har gjort en avslutningsuppgift. Eleverna upplever att undervisningen med digitala verktyg är motiverande med hög delaktighet och att de får mycket skolarbete gjort. Studien visar inte att elevernas upplevda lärande påverkades av undervisning med digitala verktyg. / <p>Matematik</p>

Design av databassystem för testresultat från Tor-systemet / Design of database system for test results from the Tor system

This master’s thesis was performed at PartnerTech AB in Åtvidaberg. It addresses the problem of managing test results obtained from testing electronics manufactured by PartnerTech. PartnerTech has developed a test system, called Tor, which performs tests on manufactured boards and stores the test results in files. The Tor system consists of both hardware and software part, where the software runs on an ordinary PC with MS DOS/Windows 2000. The effects on the existing Tor system that this thesis implies are minimal. This work focuses on a way of storing the produced test files in a database. In this work a data model has been developed, implemented, and evaluated together with a system that imports test files into the database and a graphical user interface that allows a user to easily search and browse the stored test results. It is also possible to print test reports from the Tor system. For implementing the database system Microsoft SQL Server 2000 was chosen as database server and an XML based data format was chosen to import and export data to and from the database. Two alternative graphical user interface applications were developed and compared - one server based on Microsoft IIS and one client based in Microsoft Access. For advanced data manipulation certain parts of the system were developed in Microsoft Excel.

Hösten 2018 inrättas det en ny version av läroplanen från 2011 med mer fokus på programmering. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att sammanställa forskningslitteraturens resultat om olika programmeringsspråks lämplighet för högstadiets matematikundervisning, samt lämpliga matematikområden. Frågeställningarna jämför tre programmeringsspråk med avseende på deras lämplighet och för- och nackdelar i matematikundervisningen. Programmeringsspråken, som jämförs, är Scratch, Python och VBA (Visual Basics of Application, programmering i Microsofts kalkylprogram Excel). Litteraturstudiens resultat visar att Scratch och Python anses vara lämpliga för nybörjare och är utvecklade för att de ska vara lätta att lära sig och förstå medan VBA är det programmeringsspråk som är utvecklat för att utföra matematiska beräkningar med. Programmeringsspråken kan användas i matematikundervisningen på likvärdiga sätt och i de flesta matematikområdena beroende på elevernas kompetens och lärarens val av uppgifter och tillvägagångssätt. Vidare är det möjligt att eleverna kan bli mer motiverade till att lära sig matematik om de har tillgång till digitala hjälpmedel eller programmering inom matematikundervisningen

A case study on the role of excel as a teaching and learning tool in influencing learners' interpretation of functions

The aim of this study was to investigate the role Excel could play in influencing Mathematics and Mathematical literacy learners’ interpretation of functions and their attitude towards Mathematics. I used a Mathematical Graphical Diagnostic (MGD) test, an attitude questionnaire, a reflective questionnaire and semi-structured interviews as instruments. The MGD test and the attitude questionnaire were given to 72 volunteer grade 11 learners at a former Model C school in Port Elizabeth, in the Eastern Cape. This group included 50 pure Mathematics learners and 22 Mathematical literacy learners. From this group, a smaller group of 10 learners further took part in the rest of the study were they went through an intervention were Excel was used as a teaching tool, covering concepts concerning functions. This group included 6 pure Mathematics and 4 Mathematical literacy learners. The 10 learners then re-wrote the MDG test and refilled the attitude questionnaire after the intervention. A reflective questionnaire was administered to the 10 learners after the intervention, with 5 learners from the 10 undergoing interviews in order to meet the objectives of the study. The administration of the MDG test and attitude questionnaire, interviews and reflective questionnaire enabled me to explore the relationship between learner performance and their attitude towards Mathematics as a subject, as well as the comparing the attitudes and performances between pure Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy learners. The study followed a qualitative research design, with an element of quantitative research. The qualitative data yielded findings that revealed the effectiveness of using Excel in teaching functions while the quantitative data revealed the difference in attitude and ability between pure Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy leaners. The findings of the study revealed that Excel played a major role in improving pure Mathematics learners’ results but not those of the Mathematical Literacy learners. The study also showed that technology does not necessarily impact on learners’ attitudes positively.

Optimalizační model využitelný při plánování dětských táborů / Optimizing the distribution of participants in summer camps

The aim of the thesis is the mathematical model, which is capable to divide participants of large summer camps into groups, according to specific limitations. The first part describes the economics model and all valid conditions. The second part is devoted to theoretical description. There are mentioned the basics of mathematical programming and the basic of working with Excel and VBA. The thesis describes only actually used methods. The following third part shows the final form of the model. So the reader doesn´t have to go through the whole process, described in the fourth part. There is a model testing in the fourth part, especially with the help of the Excel Solver. The problems are sold immediately. That is the reason why the fifth part can be used for implementation of working environment, which allows the end user to run the model without any significant knowledge of the issue. The app uses the wide possibilities of VBA. The sixth part briefly describes other add-ins, that are able to solve mathematical problem. The conclusion summarizes all the previous parts and offeres solution, that would be used in real application of the thesis.

Tato práce se zabývá vícekriteriálním lineárním programováním v prostředí Microsoft Excel. V rámci diplomové práce byla vytvořena aplikace SYMCLIP, která funguje jako doplněk MS Excel. Aplikace je určena pro řešení úloh vícekriteriálního lineárního programování pomocí metod s informací a priori a interaktivních metod. Dále jsou v aplikaci k dispozici tři metody pro odhad váhového vektoru. Aplikace by měla sloužit mimo jiné studentům Vysoké školy ekonomické při výuce předmětů zabývajících se teorií rozhodování.

This issue is devoted to the first part of the work. This is the theory needed to understand the basic principles and method of calculation tasks. The second part describes the developed application that can be solved one-product and multiproduct deterministic stock models, stochastic stock models and Markov decision processes with alternatives, and changing valuation of the transition. The description is supplemented with graphic images directly from the application, which makes using applications easier to understand. The part of work is also CD with created application.
