Developing Recommendations for a Mobile Pet Marketplace from a UX Perspective / Att utveckla rekommendationer för en mobil marknadsplats för husdjur ur ett UX perspektiv

Arroyo Pizarro, Roxana January 2019 (has links)
Despite the importance of pets in people’s lives and the possible emotional value of purchasing a pet, there is a lack of niche pet marketplaces. There is also a gap in research regarding the design of online marketplaces for finding pets and how users experience them. With this thesis project, I aim to touch upon that gap and provide insights to build upon in future research. This is achieved by providing recommendations of features that can enhance the user experience by addressing existing needs and concerns. To answer the research questions, interviews and a workshop were conducted followed by an analysis. Based on the findings, prototypes were designed and evaluated. Finally, the results of the study are discussed from a user experience perspective.

Keeping the User and User Data in Mind : A Study on Empathy and Personas

Unander, Marcus January 2019 (has links)
One method to create and work with personas is to abstract the user data into a character with a background story and a set of goals. This method has been argued against as the method is argued to lead to, for example, stereotyping users and for not exposing User Experience (UX) designers to user data. User data has been argued to be used by UX designers to make design decision. This study examines the possibility for UX designers to empathize with a persona that have additional accessible representations of user data. The results from this study imply that it is possible for UX designers to empathize with a persona while having access to representations of user data. Additionally, the results indicate that the persona design methods used in this study need further development.

Designing a post activity learning analytics dashboard through information visualization methods

Lin, Binyuan January 2020 (has links)
Rapid developments in the educational system significantly facilitate the popularisation of education, making education more accessible. The learning process should be systematically analyzed to assist teaching, however, traditional learning systems provide limited support for educators. The learning analytics dashboard is, therefore, becoming a popular tool to provide insights into the learning process by analyzing and interpreting the collected data with effective visualizations. With the purpose of improving pedagogical decision-making, it is of importance to provide a comprehensive overview and informative feedback for the learning process. This study aims to explore the affordances and challenges of designing a comprehensive learning analytics dashboard for educators to support personalized learning and adaptive teaching. A large amount of research on the learning analytics dashboard was reviewed as the theoretical foundation. The prototype of the dashboard was developed based on the obtained theories. To examine the prototype, a user study with user experience designers was conducted to evaluate the clarity of the visualization and the effectiveness of the dashboard. The results summarised from the thematic analysis indicated that the dashboard could serve as a potentially valuable tool with overall clear interaction to support educators, and the visualization was considered intuitive to understand the connection of multiple data points. Suggestions for designing a learning analytics dashboard are discussed in terms of visualization, consistency, conception, navigation, interaction, information via text, visual appearance, functionality, and privacy. To further improve the affordances of the dashboard, future research with educators is of importance to conduct.

Dare to Daydrem : A creative exploration of inner sustainability in relation to childhood- and adulthood norms and how it can benefit mental wellbeing

Edström, Anna January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this project is to explore the concept of inside-out change and inner sustainability in the context of societal norms through the process of how they change from childhood into adulthood. What are they and how do they affect our wellbeing and quality of life? To challenge the societal norms and become aware of its negative effects on the individual and collective, we need to allow ourselves space to acknowledge the importance of our inner life. The design aims to create a physical (and psychological) space with the help of video art and design, where the audience is given time for the mind to wander, to hopefully inspire and motivate for improved inner sustainability and change from the inside-out.

Seamless and personalized connectivity for carsharing services : A Concept Framework and Proposed Solutions

Ma, Jingjun January 2020 (has links)
With the development of information and communication technology (ICT), car sharing becomes more and more popular. It is a short-term car rental service and Volvo entered this market in 2019. The purpose of this thesis is to design for a seamless and personalized experience for car sharing users with the smartphone. A literature overview and user interviews were performed to get a general understanding of the user groups, usage patterns of the car sharing service and their experience of connecting the smartphones to the car. Two user tests were made to iterate the design and get to know users’ opinions about the design concepts. Personas and scenarios were built up and that made the basis for the design of user interfaces on the car-sharing apps and the \ac{IVI}. As a result, a concept solution was brought up. The general process of the car sharing service was: booking a car, finding a car, getting onboard, picking up friends, and getting offboard. For drivers, they can find and unlock the car seamlessly with the phone, get onboard with all preferred settings applied, safely log into the IVI system, easily pick up friends by seeing their position, and clear personal data when they return the car. For passengers, they can see the position of the car and estimated arrival time, scan a QR code to turn their phones to a remoter of the IVI system, directly send a destination to the IVI system, and share their favorite music. Nearly all the users liked the designed functions in the tests but the adoption of the service was mainly affected by two factors. One was privacy concerns and the other was function value. Users made a choice of how important more functions were compared with sequences regarding loss of privacy. More future research needs to be done to further validate the findings of this thesis and achieve the designed experience.

Exploring user experience designers’ challenges with integrating Agile : Reporting on challenges user experience designers in the construction equipment industry face

Huseni, Filip January 2022 (has links)
The construction equipment one of the least digitized sectors, and the problems have only been amplified by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Many construction equipment OEMs are turning towards the aftermarket by offering services and products to extend value of the machine. To provide more user satisfaction, and capture a larger share of the aftermarket, they are implementing Agile. However, transitioning from plan-based methods to Agile in an incumbent carry along specific challenges connected to the user experience (UX) designers working on such projects. Through an exploratory approach this study aims to identify challenges encountered by UX designers when integrating Agile and UX. The method entails two rounds of interviews with five stakeholders. First round being structured, and the second round semi-structured. Using thematic analysis, I identify three main challenge areas: designers’ uncertainty with Agile, industry-specific challenges, and misunderstanding of UX among other stakeholders. Finally, I present the ethical considerations, discuss limitations, and further research possibilities.
