Folkets Hus on Krusgårdsberget

Träskbacka, Camilla Teresa Victoria January 2022 (has links)
Folkets Hus on Krusgårdsberget is located in northwest Eskilstuna in Torshälla on Skeppargatan with a driveway entrance from Snäckbergsstigen. From Krusgårdsberget you can see i.a. the church tower and from there it is easy to get over Julinbron, the pedestrian and bicycle bridge, to the other side of Torshällaån, Rådhustorget, Bergströmska gården with the local history museum, the church and the harbor at Storgatan. The land area is limited by the Eskilstuna canal towards Lake Mälaren in the north. Holmenleden, Eskilstunavägen and Hammarbyvägen, which changes its name to Brogatan, connect the eastern part of Torshälla with the surrounding landscape. Previously, there was a community house at Rådhustorget with an assembly hall facing the square and a café and residential area facing Lilla gatan. The assembly hall was used for theater and cinema performances as well as lectures by research travelers. The house also housed the city's library and the café was a gathering place for vacant Torshälla residents. The house was built by Torshälla Allmänna Byggnads AB in 1900 and demolished in 1962. The community house I designed is a slope house with a brick facade and a flat roof on three levels. It houses a theater with 403 seats. Around the light courtyard with the large stairs there is a separate assembly hall. In addition, there are smaller office and meeting rooms, a restaurant and a hotel in the building. North of the parking lot at the main entrance, I have designed a garden that adjoins the wooded hill behind the house.

City Hall in Strängnäs / Stadshall i Strängnäs

Krajnovic, Sonja January 2019 (has links)
Strängnäs is a small scaled eclectic city where houses date from different centuries. This is shown in their different architectural styles. Main idea with this project is to adjust the City Hall building to the place that we were assigned. I wanted to create a building that is going to meet the area requirements, which is around 1600 sqm of work and activity area, and at the same time is going to be experienced as a small-scale building.

Vytvoření a analýza in-house databáze derivátů pyrazinu s potenciálně antimikrobními účinky / Creation and analysis of in-house database of pyrazine derivatives with potential antimicrobial activity

Kebakuile, Legae Gomolemo Boemo January 2018 (has links)
In the early phases of drug design and development, scientists must overcome many challenges involved in identifying potential drug-like or lead-like compounds. This has led to the need of creating large sets of chemical data which will aid in improving the identification of pharmacophores and active compounds. Various scientific fields especially pharmacology, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry have begun to employ the use of computer sciences to aid in the screening for potential leads with more specificity with regards to drug-like compounds' or substances' bioactivity. The emphasis of this project was to create a database containing a collection of pyrazine compounds synthesized overtime in the Faculty of Pharmacy (Charles University, Hradec Kralove) with the aim of having anti-mycobacterium (and possible antibacterial and antifungal) activity, and further utilize this database to predict certain pharmacokinetic and bioavailability properties. This project seeks to demonstrate how certain molecular descriptors can be used as reliable chemoinformation to determine the likeliness or possibility of developing a lead-like or drug-like compound by utilizing computer software. An in-house database of 623 compounds saved in SMILES format was created and used in demonstrating quantitative...

Městský polyfunkční dům na ulici Křížová, Brno / Multipurpose Town House on Křížová Street, Brno

Bohumel, Martin January 2011 (has links)
Mixed-use house at Křížová Street The project of mixed-use house located in the district of Old Brno is based on its location and its specific plot, situated between two street corners, at the end of the future pedestrian-only street, in direct contact with busy Mendel square. The house as a whole is enclosing eastern side of the street and with two breaks of the façade reacts to the gentle curve of the street on the other side. At the same time, these breaks of the façade acts as dividing elements, which help to create more subtle feeling of the otherwise long building. One of these breaks continues all the way through the house to the back and creates a cut, which allows a view to the inner courtyard, where a historical brick chimney is situated. This visual connection is at the same time also a metaphorical connection to the history of the location. The cut also serves as a main access for the residential areas in the upper floors and gives the inhabitants the opportunity to enter their homes through a dignified and representative space. Functionally, the house is divided into commercial spaces on the ground level, residential upper floors and parking in the basement.

Vlastní rodinný dům / Own family house

Novák, Jakub January 2012 (has links)
The design of multi-generation house on the piece of land which belongs to the investor family for six generations is based on the proportions of a traditional Czech Elbeland house. The resulting layout provides a logical construction in stages according to the actual needs of the young family. Dimensionally, the building is trying to convey the dialogue between the optimal contours of the thermal envelope of passive house and the traditional silhouette. Lamina part of the roof jacket assumes abbreviated form of this silhouette, creating a soft transition zones between the interior and exterior - stoop and covered terrace. Cubic mass of the building protrudes slightly from this outlines, making the composition more surprising. The house is designed in a passive energy standard, using hay bales as insulation and adobe bricks (made on site from local clay) as a filling for non-bearing partitions to improve thermal accumulation properties of the object. Structures are mostly wooden and from agglomerated wooden materials. The whole design is based on the assumption of self-help construction, taking into account the least possible interference in the landscape we very much respect.

Omställning till små hållbara bostäder : Hur produktdesign kan påverka och främja en omställning till hållbara bostäder / Transition to sustanible Tiny Houses : How product design can influence and promote a transition to sustainable housing

Andersson, Nicole January 2022 (has links)
The study research how product design can influence and promote a transition to small sustainable homes through research and methods using Design for behaviour change. The study is based on previous research made on The Tiny House Movement (that started in the USA in the late 1990s) and examines the Swedish market for Tiny Houses through interviews with stakeholders in Sweden. The study is also based on theory from the areas of Sustainable development and Design for sustainable development. Through interviews, a target group of children was selected, and a list of requirements was written based on the theory and material collected from the interviews as well as from a supplementary investigation. The Design with intent method was used as a source of inspiration for the development of concepts, where two concepts were selected for further development and then analysed with the Harris profile method to find which concept best met the list of requirements. The final concept: a product intended to influence and promote children’s transitioning into small sustainable homes by allowing them to build different types of Tiny Houses on a small scale with drawings as guidance. The product, Tiny Tiny Houses, is intended to be used in the company of parents as an aid to teach learnings about alternative housing but is just as good for children to use on their own, with siblings, or in the company of other children. The product is similar to a backpack where the front is folded down to build Tiny Houses on a small scale with the help of building pieces similar to puzzle pieces that are pressed together. The product is easy to take out into nature to promote outdoor play. Nature is an important part of the concept as the child’s imagination together with nature will decorate the inside of the small houses.

Smart DC/DC Wall Plug Design for the DC House Project

Liu, Richard Sinclair 01 December 2017 (has links) (PDF)
The present day duplex wall receptacle in the United States provides 120Vrms AC at 60Hz, which comes from a standard set for AC loads by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. With a DC system, such as what is used in the DC House project currently being developed at Cal Poly, providing DC power to DC loads presents a technical challenge due to the different required DC operating voltages of the loads. This thesis entails the design and construction of a Smart DC/DC Wall Plug, which can automatically adjust its output voltage to match any required DC load voltages. In the DC House implementation, renewable energy sources generate power to feed a 48V DC Bus. The Smart DC/DC Wall Plug converts power from the 48V bus to the appropriate voltage and power levels needed by the DC loads. The Smart DC/DC Wall Plug relies on load current detection, and uses a 10-bit digital potentiometer and a programmable current DAC to adjust the feedback network, thereby changing the output voltage. A dual channel 100W PCB prototype utilizing a STMF302R8 microcontroller is implemented for this design while confining to the NEMA wall outlet form factor. Results of hardware test verify the functionality of the Smart DC/DC Wall Plug in producing the required DC load voltages. Technical issues during the development of the Smart DC/DC Wall Plug will be described, along with suggestions to further improve from the current design.

Constitutive Modeling of Hexagonal Close Packed Polycrystals

Wang, Huamiao 09 1900 (has links)

There is a growing interest in magnesium and its alloys due to their high strength to weight ratio. Magnesium is of particular interest to the automotive industry as a consequence of the current pressure to reduce green house gas emissions from the transportation sector through vehicle weight reduction. However, there is a lack of knowledge concerning the formability of magnesium. As a result, the application of magnesium as a commercial material has not been fully exploited. Much has been learned from the constitutive modeling of materials such as aluminum and steel. Therefore, this thesis considers the constitutive modeling of magnesium and its alloys.

Based on this motivation, polycrystal plasticity theories that have been established and used to characterize aluminum and steel are studied. The validity of these theories is examined with respect to magnesium and its alloys. The magnesium system is composed of the hexagonal closed-packed (HCP) crystal structure. Therefore, a strong plastic anisotropy is induced in magnesium crystals due to the limited number of slip systems that may be activated with ease. The models proposed by Taylor and Sachs neglect strain and stress heterogeneities respectively. As a result, the models are either too stiff or too soft to study magnesium due to the anisotropic nature of the crystal structure. The intermediate models; self-consistent models, which are able to consider the heterogeneities among the grains in polycrystals, are believed to be more suitable to study magnesium and its alloys. Therefore, a large strain elastic-viscoplastic self-consistent (EVPSC) model is developed for polycrystalline materials. Both rate sensitive slip and twinning are included as mechanisms of plastic deformation, while elastic anisotropy is accounted for in the elastic modulus. The transition from single crystal plasticity to polycrystal plasticity is based on a completely self-consistent approach. It is shown that the differences in the predicted stress-strain curves and texture evolutions based on the EVPSC and the viscoplastic self-consistent (VPSC) model proposed by Lebensohn and Tome (1993) are negligible at large strains for monotonic loadings. For the deformations involving unloading and strain path changes, the EVPSC predicts a smooth elasto-plastic transition, while the VPSC model gives a discontinuous response because the model is incapable of modeling elastic deformation. In addition, it is demonstrated that the EVPSC model can capture some important experimental features which cannot be simulated by using the VPSC model.

Various self-consistent schemes exist for EVPSC and VPSC models. However, the evaluations of these models are not complete. Therefore, an examination of various polycrystal plasticity models is made, based on comparisons of the predicted and experimental stress responses as well as the R values, to assess their validity. It is established that, among the models examined, the self-consistent models with grain interaction stiffuess values halfway between those of the limiting Secant (stiff) and Tangent (compliant) approximations give the best results. Among the available options, the Affine self-consistent scheme results in the best overall performance. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the R values under uniaxial tension and compression within the sheet plane show a strong dependence on the imposed strain. This suggests that the development of anisotropic yield functions using measured R values, must account for the strain. dependence.

The recently developed large strain elastic visco-plastic self-consistent (EVPSC) model, which incorporates both slip and twinning deformation mechanisms, is used to study .the lattice strain evolution in extruded magnesium alloy AZ31 under uniaxial tension and compression. The results are compared against in-situ neutron diffraction measurements done on the same alloy. For the first time, the effects of stress relaxation and strain creep on lattice strain measurements in respectively displacement controlled and load controlled in-situ tests are numerically assessed. It is found that the stress relaxation, has a significant effect on the lattice strain measurements. It is also observed that although the creep does not significantly affect the trend of the lattice strain evolution, a better agreement with the experiments is found if creep is included in the simulations.

In conjunction with the M-K approach developed by Marciniak and Kuczynski (1967), the EVPSC model is applied to study the sheet metal formability of magnesium alloys in terms of the forming limit diagram (FLO). The role of crystal plasticity models and the effects of basal texture on formability of magnesium alloy AZ31 B sheet are studied numerically. It is observed that formability in HCP polycrystalline materials is very sensitive to the intensity of the basal texture. The path-dependency of formability is examined based on different non-proportional loading histories, which are combinations of two linear strain paths. It is found that while the FLO in strain space is very sensitive to strain path changes, the forming limit stress diagram (FLSO) in stress space is much less path-dependent. It is suggested that the FLSO is much more favourable than the FLO in representing forming limits in the numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes. The numerical results are found to be in good qualitative agreement with experimental observations.
/ Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
