Which qualities do Swedish people look for in their villas?

Wirgin, Daniel January 2021 (has links)
Some would say today’s villas lacks interesting architecture. Little variation and frankly, uninteresting. In this thesis, investigations will be made towards figuring out if this is what the Swedish people want, or if given the possibility, they would pick something different from what is available and also, which qualities they look for in their home. This is what this thesis will look into. In order to answer this question, information needed to be obtained, information which was attained through a survey that was sent out to the Swedish people. And interviews that was sent to architects and house brokers in different parts of Sweden. The response rate was 221 answers from the people, 8 answers from the brokers and 9 answers from the architects. With these answers the result was divided into 5 groups to see if there was a difference according to the participants age. The result showed that the swedes think much alike when it comes to location of their house, but when it comes to their own home, the answers are much diverse even though some specifications are more appreciated than others.

Ricksättra 1:1 : Planering och gestaltning / Ricksattra 1:1 : Planning and design

Asmar, Dilmon January 2014 (has links)
Ricksattra 1:1 is a real estate of 42 hectare placed in Ekero. In the year 2010 the real estate got a new owner with new ambitions. But with limited time in disposal the new owner couldn’t exploit the real estate and bring forward the development to what is needed. Today the real estate is barely used and its full potential is not meet. The client has now entered a new phase where he wishes to meet that potential by building a modern society with growing opportunities and energy-saving buildings. Future thoughts of development are already in the clients mind. He wishes to build among others a preschool, mustering point, parks, stores and different types of residential buildings with the passive house concept. There are very high opinions of Ricksattra, and that rightly so. There are desires to build a society with a large growing capacity and with a hallmark of modernism and environment friendliness aspects, which in the future will be highly valued. As a county Ekero is expected to put great emphasis on this region, because a fully developed Ricksattra will give a raising value on the city, this in turn will develop a positive reputation.  The work is aimed at projecting residential building on a specific selected area where illustrations of apartment buildings along with neighboring parks and streets will be designed. By getting this formally in writing and design, this report could be the starting point for Ricksattra’s development. The emphasis will be on the customer’s requirements and he wishes the result will lead to, with some adaption to the limits of my education

Intervenção em patrimônio arquitetônico moderno: um estudo de três casas paulistas / Intervention in modern architectural heritage : a study of three houses in São Paulo

Apoena Amaral e Almeida 26 April 2013 (has links)
Aiming to demonstrate an understanding of the preservation of modern architecture as cultural heritage, the work focused on the study of a group of modern architecture residential works, built in São Paulo from the 1950\'s until the mid-1970\'s, which were intervened starting from the 1990\'s. Such interventions are the results of contemporary architectural projects that considered the existing buildings as architectural cultural heritage, even if the buildings were not considered so by official agencies (municipal, state, and federal). The research, when examining some concrete examples (specific projects), reflected a disciplinary field of expertise of the architect, which has grown over the past two decades: the intervention in existing buildings, aiming at their renovation, consolidation, or restoration. In order to enable the necessary foundation to contextualize the work and the performed analyses was possible to verify the consolidation process of modern paulista architecture. This was done either through its historiography or through studies that characterize it a cultural heritage, highlighting the specifics for protection, conservation, and intervention, besides examining their relationships with existing theoretical and methodological criteria. Through these assumptions, we analyzed - with the help of diagrams, technical drawings, and photos - three iconic houses of modern paulista architecture: Olga Baeta Residence, Mario Masetti Residence and Fernando Millan Residence. The first residence was designed by Vilanova Artigas in 1957 and the other two by Paul Mendes da Rocha in 1969 and 1970, respectively. We aimed to emphasize not only their importance as Cultural Property, but to identify technical and operational tools directly related to the preservation field and evaluate their results.

Enacting Community Through the Arts

Keller, Sarita Talusani 12 1900 (has links)
This study is concerned with the roles and relationships between artists-in-residence, community audiences, and program coordinators/art educators as they engage together in community arts programs. This study takes place at Project Row Houses (PRH), a community arts organization located in Houston, Texas and focuses on the artist-in-residence program, which commissions a group of national and international artists for a 6-month period to create art installations in relation to the community and its African-American heritage. This ethnographic case study is based on the activities and events surrounding the 2008 PRH exhibition, Round 29, Thunderbolt Special: The Great Electric Show and Dance, after Sam Lightnin’ Hopkins and employed qualitative data gathering methods of participant-observation, conducting semi-structured, open-ended, in-depth interviews, and through document collection, and contextual information. Observations were recorded through field notes, photographs, and video. Interviews were conducted with 3 artists-in-residence, 3 community audience members, and 3 program coordinators or staff members involved with the program, regarding their experiences at the site and experiences with each other. My analysis presents the roles of artist, community audience, and program coordinator/art educator through three sections on cultural work. Within these sections I discuss topics related to the power of voice, situatedness, and creativity, as it relates to the artists and community audiences. For the role of program coordinator/art educator, I focus more closely on her role in the process of mediation. Topics of power, social dynamics, identity, and representation are also framed within these discussions.

Dřevostavby s použitím přírodních tepelných a zvukových izolací / Wooden buildings using natural thermal and acoustic insulation

Ambrožová, Elena January 2016 (has links)
Dissertation deals with the technical parameters of natural thermal insulation. In addition, there is a global trend in the construction of reducing energy consumption for heating, air conditioning, or with operating facilities in buildings and the use of perspective and efficient building materials with a negligible negative impact on the environment. Therefore, the attention not only professionals are increasingly turning to alternative materials, such as natural insulation, the material can be drawn from local sources and whose production is energy-saving and leaving a small ecological footprint. As part of the doctoral thesis were tested short term water absorption, measurements were made of the thermal conductivity and its change after the test short term water absorption. Was determined dependence of thermal conductivity on humidity and heat resistance was determined. Moreover a natural insulation applications in building construction with a comparison of the various technical parameters and environmental footprint. At the conclusion was made by acoustic insulation in timber construction and price analysis.
