The contemporary poetry feels free of the classical rules; theater no longer obeys the requirements of the poetic "manuals"; the rigid boundaries between genres disappears; artists cease to represent to the public to talk with him. In the last decades of twentieth century and in the twenty-first century, emerges the laughable phenomenon of One-man Show in the brazilian scene, object of this research, as a result of this evolution of the performing arts. It is a form of theater that emerged in the brazilian context, snatching public attention in alternative spaces, theaters and, as it should be, also on the Internet, often confused with the Stand-up Comedy. It is necessary a research that delimitate and pursue to identify the essential characteristics of the brazilian One- Man Show, not only by the absence of theoretical references concerning this, but also to understand some aspects of the brazilian scene and the situation of laughter and comedy in it. In the first chapter, a discussion about comedy and laughter in classical antiquity is presented, using the writings of Plato and Aristotle as a starting point; in the second, some of the main classical theories of laughter are reviewed, attempting to identify the general characteristics that enable to understand the construction of the comedy; the third chapter generally dicusses about the moment of the brazilian theatrical scene in which emerges the One-man Show; and in the fourth chapter, there is an explanation about this phenomenon and a description of the practical exercise titled Experimento One-person Show: Damas / Desde a d?cada de 1970, o mundo observa a fragmenta??o, o hibridismo, a pluralidade e a miscigena??o que v?m tomando conta das artes da cena. Quanto vale o show? O fino Rap de Athalyba-Man e a inserção social do Periférico através do mercado de música popular / How much is the show worth? The fine Rap of Athalyba-Man and the social insertion of the Peripheral through the market of popular music

Guilherme Machado Botelho 04 October 2018 (has links)
In the last thirty years, there has been opening of spaces for Rap and Funk singers in the mass media. It is also perceived, as these musical cultures extrapolated the limits of circulation from their places of origin, the periphery, an increase in the interest of young and intellectuals coming from the middle class. Mainly, after the gradual phenomenon of projection of the Racionais MC\'s, occurred in the last twenty years. And now, with the success of Criolo, Rael, Emicida, Rincón Sapiência, Baco Exú do Blues, MV Bill, Raffa Moreira, Coruja BC1, Rico Dalasam, Karol Conka, among others. What interests, conflicts and perspectives are at stake in this movement? Tracking the construction and transformation of Athalyba-Man\'s artistic originality, one of the first national Rap artists to sign a contract with a multinational record company, the aim is to understand how the making of and introduction of rap music culture in the hegemonic phonographic market took place, as well as its diffusion, conflicts and perspectives.

Precarious subjectivity in the works of John Banville : a lacanian reading / La subjectivité précaire dans les oeuvres de John Banville : une lecture lacanienne

Ghassemi, Mehdi 07 December 2015 (has links)
The present project sets to complement the previous readings of the “self” in John Banville’s fiction by reproblematizing the precariousness of the author’s “subject of narration.” It examines the way in which the author constantly manipulates various narrative elements and consequently creates new experiences. Jacques Lacan’s understanding of the relation between the subject and the signifier, I argue, provides an excellent set of tools to address the way in which the notion of subjectivity is dissected, enhanced, and even extended, in Banville’s philosophically imbued fiction. The central thesis is that Banville creates a narrative universe in which his protagonists’ perception moves in interesting ways as the aspects of the Lacanian triad (the Symbolic, the Imaginary and the Real) are reshuffled, resulting in a precarious sense of self and reality. Although other thinkers (especially the ones hinted at in the narrative, most notably, de Man, Kleist, and Nietzsche) are drawn upon, the theoretical backbone relies on Lacan’s theory of subjectivity as well as recent Lacanian thinkers, most notably, Slavoj Žižek, Mladen Dollar, and Stijn Vanheule. Žižek’s reading of Lacan is of special interest to this study as he theorizes virtuality as a concept using Lacan’s triadic model. In addition, using Žižek’s definition of postmodernism as “symbolic inefficacy” allows us to shed new light on the long debate over Banville’s modernism versus his postmodernism. The dissertation consists of three parts. The first part focuses on Banville’s earlier work, namely, Birchwood, Mefisto, and The Book of Evidence. Here, I examine how the narrators’ preoccupation with finding certainty and truth results in a psychotic universe in Mefisto and a hysteric one in The Book of Evidence. Focusing on the latest trilogy, Eclipse, Shroud, and Ancient Ligh the second part examines the way in which Banville uses the category of the uncanny to create a Gothic narrative in Eclipse. Moreover, the concept of object a is used to demonstrate how the subject/object distinction collapses and gives rise to the Real dimension of the subject. The third and final part argues that the narrators seek to counter the undecidability generated in their uncanny narrations via the rehabilitation of the surface, one with which they hope to restore their precarious sense of self. Both chapters in this part address Banville’s engagement with Paul de Man’s deconstructive theory of language and representation and argue that Banville stages de Man’s ideas as well as his life-story in order to advance his own conception of representation and selfhood. Friedrich Nietzsche, I claim in both chapters, provides the narrators with a way out of the predicament posited by de Man. The underlying idea explored throughout the project is that Banville’s epistemological project can be summed up as an attempt to find a mode of articulation independent from the Symbolic order as most of his narrators, in one way or another, express a fundamental incredulity towards the Symbolic Other. By stripping reality of its Symbolic underpinnings, the Banvillian protagonist allows the Real to emerge and then domesticates it as magic. He does so using the surface of the written pages of his narrative, a surface onto which he can fuse word and image.

Söderlind, Ulrica January 2017 (has links)
The focus of the thesis is on the last supper and how that event is depicted on icons within the Eastern Orthodox Church. Two different methods have been used to study the motive: archive studies and literature studies. The motive in itself is studied from a religious perspective as well as from a gastronomical perspective. The composition of Jesus and his disciples and how they are placed around the table, which ones that have halos are studied from the religious perspective and the different kind of food elements and utensils for a meal are studied from the gastronomical perspective. The theoretical perspective combines parts of Eliade's theory of the religious man and Söderlind's theory of the gastronomical man. During the study of the icons it became clear that the food items and utensils that are depicted are markers of identity.

Performance evaluation of optical packet switching technology : access control, resource allocation and QoS management for metropolitan and access networks / Evaluation de performances de la technologie de commutation de paquets optiques : contrôle d'accès, allocation des ressources et qualité de service pour les réseaux métropolitains et d'accès

Nguyen, Tuan Dung 09 November 2010 (has links)
The rapid growth in client application demands, in terms of bandwidth and (QoS), has motivated the deployment of the optical technology at Metro Access and Metro Core Networks. More diverse and more intelligent optic devices are required for efficiently management of huge capacity in the network. The explosion in demand for network bandwidth is mainly due to the growth in data traffic whose nature is also becoming more and more complex. In general, most of service-based traffics are transported in networks which are now being dominated by the optical switching technology. Nevertheless, such technology has some drawbacks such as inflexible and non-scalable properties. (OPS), which offers significant benefits in terms of both network efficiency and control scalability, may overcome these limitations. This has motivated the orientation from optical circuit switching to optical packet switching in the future network infrastructure. In reality, optical packet switching ring (OPSR) networks, which combine the packet switching technology with the well-known advantages of ring topology such as fast service restoration in cases of failure and high gain of statistical traffic multiplexing over the ring, appear to be the technology of choice for the next generation of Metro Area Networks. A new OPSR architecture which is based on the all-optical infrastructure that offers intelligent features with lower cost while maximizing processing time and is now considering being replaced existing opto-electronic architectures such as Resilient Packet Ring, have been presented in the scope of the dissertation. The key element of such network is Packet Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (POADM) which is implemented inside a ring node, allowing the node to exploit the optical transparency. This dissertation hence focuses on the performance evaluation of the new generation of OPSR network. In this dissertation, we have investigated the performance analysis (in terms of packet delay and queue-length distribution of access nodes) of an optical synchronous bus-based metropolitan network supporting fixed-size packets. We have modeled each access node by an embedded discrete time Markov chain (EDTMC). The solution of the EDTMC allows us to compute the approximate probability that access nodes on the bus “see” free slots in the transit line. Using a recursive analysis technique, we approximately outline the mean waiting time of client packets coming from the upper layer as well as an approximate queue-length distribution of local buffers at access nodes in two cases: with and without QoS guarantees. To characterize the performance of an asynchronous OPSR network, we have evaluated the impact of Optical fixed-Size Packet Creation on the network performance without and with different quality of services (QoS) requirements. Performance analysis of such systems has allowed us to identify a reasonable combination of some parameters (timeslot duration, timer expiration values, profile of client traffic and network load) which may be able to improve the bandwidth utilization of the network for a given traffic matrix. The most important point that we have mentioned in the dissertation is the comparison of two architectural approaches: Variable Length – Optical Packet Format (VL-OPF) model supporting empty packets versus Fixed Length – Optical Packet Format (FL-OPF) model. In addition to CoS-Upgrade Mechanism (CUM) which is proposed to improve the filling ratio of the optical container, we have proposed a novel mechanism named Dynamic CoS-Upgrade Mechanism (DCUM) where timers are dynamically changed according to the state of the local buffer of network nodes and the traffic circulating in the network, in order to create containers with a high filling ratio while limiting the time needed for their creation.
