Andersson, Sofia, Burlin, Lovisa, Myrman, Tove January 2020 (has links)
Pornography is daily consumed by many, at the same time it is regarded as a risk factor for more positive attitudes towards sexual violence. The harmful consequences of pornography is controversial and there is a lack of knowledge regarding its relationship with sexual attitudes. The purpose of the present study was to examine attitudes toward sexual violence against women related to pornography consumption and gender. A cross-sectional study design was used and the data were collected through an online survey with a total of 449 respondents (130 men; 319 women). The results showed a significant positive relationship between attitudes toward sexual violence and pornography in men but not in women. A difference between those who had a high respectively low pornography consumption were found in women but not men. Men had more positive attitudes toward sexual violence and also reported a higher consumption compared to women. Finally, individuals who often consumed violent pornography had milder attitudes than those who rarely did so. To counteract the harmful consequences of pornography, a suggestion is to regulate the production and consumption of pornography as well as investing in norm-critical sexual education in school.

(O)Lust : En kvalitativ studie om killars tankar och erfarenheter av pornografi / (Un)desire : A qualitative study about young men´s thoughts and experiences of pornography

Nordstedt, Helena Josefine, Vallin, Di January 2022 (has links)
This study finds its origins in the social debate about pornography and the impact and consequences it has on adolescents. The aim is to examine their experiences of pornography in regards to themselves, their peers and to explore its influence on their relationships. (Un)desire is based on a study completed by Sifo about young men’s pornography consumption between the ages of 13-25. The study was published in Spring 2022 and was initially commissioned by the organisation MÄN. It used qualitative research methods where the research material consisted of open ended questions that were given to a total of 380 participants. The research material has been analysed using a thematic analytical method and took three categorical viewpoints into consideration: attitude, consumption and impact. By using theories consisting of social learning theory, sexual script and relevant research this study finds that young men generally have a negative attitude towards pornography. Attitudes, norms and values regarding pornography are most often constructed through the process of socialisation. Pornography is being used by young men as a tool to explore their sexualities however, it predominantly has a negative influence. Finally, there is an absence of conversation and guidance from adults around pornography which adds to the negative impact it has on young men.

[en] CYBER-PORN: A NEW WAY OF CONSUMPTION / [pt] PORNOGRAFIA ON-LINE: UMA NOVA FORMA DE CONSUMO COMPULSIVO

BRUNO FARIAS MENDES 15 September 2020 (has links)
[en] Hirschman (1992) opened the way for a compulsive consumption theory from the study conducted with drugs, alcohol and gambling-addicted. The emergence of the Internet brought with it a new form of compulsive consumption: the online pornography and its peculiarities in relation to Hirschman s study. Since little is known from the subject, we sought to magnify the knowledge on compulsive consumption by the identification of a Brazilian group of online support for auto declared dependents. Based on hermeneutical interpretation, it was made netnography with nine thousand messages and discussions on 20 diaries of members of the community. There were identified six groups of precedents (risk perception, negative emotions, simultaneous addiction, role transition, easy access of consumption) and consequences (perceived addiction, woman objectification, low self-esteem, personal and professional problems, depression and suicidal thought and sexual disorders). Next, fifteen phenomenological interviews were conducted with voluntary participants to deepen the understanding of the identified categories. The results reveal that besides the seven themes pointed by Hirschman that were present on the reports, other themes, such as women objectification, loss of sense of masculinity and sexual disturbances seem to be intrinsic to pornography consumption.
