Mancilla Ordóñez, Joselyn Ena January 2013 (has links)

Osvaldo Costa Martins 10 August 2012 (has links)

Ana: ousadia que mudou o seu destino / Ana: daring that changed their destiny

Eunice Angelo de Morais 12 March 2007 (has links)
Analyses of two first chapters that integrate the 1 Samuel book of Hebrew Bible, with emphasis in historical, liguistics and literary aspects. In these chapters we find the history of Hannah, a woman that suffered very much because she hasn\'t childrens and because the other wife of her husband has got them. The Hannah\'s sterility changed after she prays to God, and promisses to give the son that wasborn to the religious service. A comparision with others Hebrew Bibles characters is done to demonstrate which actitudes of Hannah make of her one of the most notable females characters of Ancient Israel. At the end we notice too how the poetry inserted into this narrative has influenced the christian literature.

A reinvention of the stage, listening and vision

Van Drie, Mélissa 15 December 2010 (has links)
The majority of studies on scenic dimensions of late 19th - early 20th century French and European theatre center on scenography (space, scenery, lights, relations to painting and new cinematographic media). If certain aspects of sound are mentioned, and sometimes analyzed, the approaches are often compartmentalized into categories including voice (declamation, music, sound effects, which are never themselves questioned). The acoustical dimension is never fully problematized. However, the art of theatre is founded on a schema where listening matters as much as seeing, if not more. In the history of sound, the period on which this study comports constitutes an important turning point, with the invention of the telephone, phonograph, and microphone (1875-1878), progress in the fields of acoustical science and otology, and the transformation of listening practices. The reasons for sound’s oversight are multiple, including the pre-eminence accorded to vision in Occidental thought, the invention of the “mise en scène”, theatre’s resistance to new sound technologies. Nourished by Sound Studies, this dissertation seeks to bring sound back into play. After presenting a panorama of the activities and thought emerging from the intermedial soundscape at the end of the 19th century (théâtrophone, actor’s recordings, etc), it observes the deeper effects of these acoustical phonomena on dramatic space, the scenic figure, and vocality through respective studies of three poets-theatre creators: Maurice Maeterlinck, Alfred Jarry and Charles Cros. The very bases of theatre are interrogated.

Production et transmission des données de suivi des patients atteints de maladies chroniques dans un contexte de télémédecine et intégration dans un système d'information pour l'aide à la décision / Production and transmission of chronic disease patients monitoring data in a context of telemedicine and integration into an information system for decision support

Finet, Philippe 15 December 2017 (has links)
The current trend in aging population leads to an increasing number of chronic diseases cases and consequently, to an increase of the number of medical examinations and hospital stays. Telemedicine system can contribute to both increase or maintain care quality and safety, as well as to reduce costs. In spite of this potential, telemedicine deployment is currently limited. We identified the most frequent chronic diseases consistent with telemedicine, namely heart failure, diabetes, respiratory failure and kidney failure. This study highlighted a number of comorbidities associated to these four diseases, reflecting the need for overall patient care. A state of the art report on worldwide Telemedicine experiments for the four chronic diseases showed that the current applications are partially redundant and hardly interoperable. Thus, the same measure can be performed twice for the same medical examination, but for two different diseases. These two problems can induce redundant developments, a risk of a decreased efficiency of a telemedicine application during its deployment, as well as risks of making the patient health worse when the intervention of a healthcare professional can have an impact on another chronic disease. Furthermore, this study revealed common requirements for these chronic diseases and their specific features. We developed a generic architecture that allows different telemedicine applications associated with specific diseases to share a common technical platform. The original aspects of this work are first, a study of communication standards to achieve an interoperable system, and, on the other hand second, a health data model for the patient's vital signs. This model contains all the necessary information to interpret the results, such as the date and time of the measurement, the acquired data format and the sensor characteristics. To validate our telemedicine application model, we conducted two experiments. The first one was a collaboration with AZNetwork company. It consisted in the development of a digital platform to collect and archive seniors' data in the context of the Silver@Home project. The second experiment was a partnership with the TELAP network on the Domoplaies project. It allowed us to extend our telemedicine model to a medical data exchange system among healthcare providers. This led us to propose a telemedicine application model, which is not only in conformity with the Health Information Systems Interoperability Framework (HIS-IF) of the "Agence des Systèmes d'Information Partagés de Santé" (ASIP Santé), but also constitutes a proposed extension of this framework to the patient's home.

Prodigality, liberality and meanness in the parable of the prodigal son : Greco-Roman perspective on Luke 15:11-32

Holgate, David A January 1993 (has links)
This dissertation consists of an interpretation of the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-32) from the perspective of Greco-Roman moral philosophy. It is divided into three parts. Part 1 traces the history of relating the New Testament to Greco-Roman literature and philosophy. Despite the importance of this perspective for the study of Luke-Acts, the relationship between Luke 15: 11-32 and Greco-Roman moral philosophy has not been investigated before. The legitimacy of this approach is demonstrated by a literary analysis of the parable, which demonstrates the formal emphasis placed upon the liberal and compassionate words and actions of the father. The strong moral orientation of the parable is further illustrated by the formal, linguistic and thematic features which it shares with the other L parables. Part 2 consists of a study of the Greco-Roman moral topos On Covetousness. The use of the Greco-Roman topos as a critical tool for the study of the New Testament is evaluated, the term is defined, and the influence of the topos On Covetousness upon representative works of moral philosophy is studied. This part ends with a summary of the characteristic features of the topos and its use by writers with differing philosophical affiliations. Part 3 reads the whole parable in terms of the topos On Covetousness, with the emphasis being placed on the relationship between the Lukan text and works of Greco-Roman moral philosophy. The parable is seen to be structured according to the influential Peripatetic doctrine of the mean, with the father representing the virtue of liberality, and his two sons the opposing vices of prodigality and meanness. The comparison with the topos reveals Luke's strong rejection of the two vices, and his endorsement of the Greco-Roman virtue of liberality, which is modified by his emphasis upon the Christian virtue of compassion. The approach affirms and demonstrates the internal unity of the parable and its close relationship to the Lukan theme of the correct use of possessions.

Continuous auditory feedback for sensorimotor learning / Retour sonore continu pour l'apprentissage sensorimoteur

Boyer, Eric 11 May 2015 (has links)
Our sensorimotor system has developed a specific relationship between our actions and their sonic outcomes, which it interprets as auditory feedback. The development of motion sensing and audio technologies allows emphasizing this relationship through interactive sonification of movement. We propose several experimental frameworks (visual, non-visual, tangible, virtual) to assess the contribution of sonification to sensorimotor control and learning in interactive systems. First, we show that the auditory system integrates dynamic auditory cues for online motor control, either from head or hand movements. Auditory representations of space and of the scene can be built from audio features and transformed into motor commands. The framework of a virtual sonic object illustrates that auditory-motor representations can shape exploratory movement features and allow for sensory substitution. Second, we measure that continuous auditory feedback in a tracking task helps significantly the performance. Both error and task sonification can help performance but have different effects on learning. We also observe that sonification of user’s movement can increase the energy of produced motion and prevent feedback dependency. Finally, we present the concept of sound-oriented task, where the target is expressed as acoustic features to match. We show that motor adaptation can be driven by interactive audio cues only. In this work, we highlight important guidelines for sonification design in auditory-motor coupling research, as well as applications through original setups we developed, like perceptual and physical training, and playful gesture-sound interactive scenarios for rehabilitation.

Christo-centric reconciliation : being a dissertation considering reconciliation with particular reference to; the baptism of Jesus, the temptations of Jesus, the title of Son of Man as used by Jesus, and the Pauline texts which refer to reconciliation

Jeannot, Hugues Donald January 1973 (has links)
[From Introduction]. "God, ... through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation." "Among all churches throughout the world there is a growing conviction that God's great reconciliation in Jesus Christ is still the answer desperately needed by modern man." The United Presbyterian Church U.S.A.'s Confession of 1967 made "reconciliation the all-embracing category for describing God's work and man's response, including especially his response in social and political action".

More than conquerors : the conqueror (NIKΑΏ) motif in the Book of Revelation

Shin, Eun-Chul 11 October 2007 (has links)
This dissertation intends to reveal the theme of the conqueror, which is spread throughout the book of Revelation. I try to determine the identity and function of the conquerors who were faced with various problems in their present situations. Various present situations such as the political, economical, social, and religious phenomena that the first Christians confronted must be considered. Thus, the main aim of Revelation is to persuade compromising Christians to disengage from pagan idolatry and to sustain those who resist. One must remember the fact that the designated conquerors were absolutely embedded in their historical and sociological situation. We should recognize why John wanted to send his prophetic message through various symbolic references and universes, providing a different heavenly perspective in contrast with an earthly point of view. In general, the conquest can be linked with both a military and political meaning, such as Messiah and the son of David in Jewish literature and the Old Testament. But the conqueror figure in Revelation can be understood from a different angle. The characteristic of the conqueror is explained through the symbolic transformation of redemptive death and victory. It means that the idea of conquering has been changed. Conquering doesn’t depend on a military or political power that is the interpretation of the traditional messianic expectation, but self-sacrifice of the Lamb on the cross. The characteristic of the Lamb as conqueror is closely linked with the image of an atoning, sacrificial victim. The theme of suffering and death in Revelation is linked with the victory of the conquerors. That is, the conquerors can be defined as those who endure suffering, slander, poverty and tribulation unto death as Jesus has done. From a worldly perspective, Satan looks like the almighty figure as the conqueror that persecuted the people of God, but in terms of the heavenly perspective, he is defeated and conquered by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of God in 12:11. Therefore, conquering is provided from the heavenly perspective to encourage the conquerors as seeing the present reality. Just as the Lamb has conquered the evil ones by his blood, the conquerors should conquer the evil ones by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. Thus, the victory of the conquerors can be attained by means of witness and death. The idea that the conquerors are the victims might provide the people of God with a powerful symbolic transformation as a marginalized group in a hostile world. The conquerors are provided with a heavenly perspective, implying an eschatological fulfillment and God’s presence in the New Jerusalem. The image of the New Jerusalem provides a rhetorical effect that the people of God as conquerors will experience salvation in the future. Whereas the city of Babylon was drunk with the blood of the conquerors, the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven will dwell with God as the completion of the fulfillment God promised (cf. 21:1-22:5). / Thesis (PhD (New Testament Studies))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / New Testament Studies / PhD / unrestricted
