[pt] O objetivo deste trabalho consiste em analisar como o movimento que nasceu dentro da filosofia analítica do século XX denominado Epistemologia das Virtudes poderia representar um ponto de inflexão dentro da epistemologia contemporânea, sobretudo ao trazer para dentro da teoria do conhecimento elementos antes considerados exclusivamente do campo da ética ou da moral. Investigo, para tanto, como essa corrente responde a alguns dos principais problemas da teoria do conhecimento, presentes desde os escritos de Platão (428 - 348 a.C.) chegando até os dias atuais, em especial no tocante às disputas que ocuparam espaços centrais dos debates epistemológicos entre as décadas de 1960 e 1980. / [en] The aim of this work is to analyze how the movement born within the analytical philosophy of the 20th century called Virtue Epistemology represents a turning point within contemporary epistemology, especially by bringing elements previously considered exclusively from the field of ethics or morals into the theory of knowledge. Therefore, I investigate how this current answer to some of the main problems of the theory of knowledge, present since the writings of Plato (428 - 348 BC) until the present day, especially regarding the disputes that occupied central spaces of epistemological debates between the 1960s and 1980s.

[pt] Esta pesquisa é o resultado parcial e provisório do confronto com a questão da relação entre filosofia e Violência: sob esse horizonte, esboçou-se uma história da Hierarquia Abstração-Matéria no interior da história da filosofia ocidental, focando-se na Antiguidade grega e na Modernidade. Após delinear a perspectiva adotada através dos conceitos de Abstração, Matéria e Hierarquia Abstração-Matéria, optou-se por um procedimento de levantamento abrangente e subsequente análise de aspectos já bem conhecidos e consensuais de diversos autores cujas obras podem ser enquadradas como filosóficas. Tal percurso exploratório de busca por conexões entre os filósofos se iniciou com Heráclito e passou por Parmênides, Zenão, Platão, Aristóteles, Montaigne, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Adorno e Horkheimer, tendo em seu começo e fim suas principais referências teóricas e temáticas. Ao longo dele, emergiu também a questão dos lugares do conceito de razão e da noção de Diferença no interior dessa história, sendo eles centrais para o tratamento dado à relação entre Abstração e Matéria. / [en] This research is the partial and provisional result of confronting the question of the relation between philosophy and Violence: encompassed by this horizon, a history of the Abstraction-Matter Hierarchy within the history of western philosophy was sketched, focussing on Greek Antiquity and on Modernity. Having outlined the current perspective with the concepts of Abstraction, Matter and Abstraction-Matter Hierarchy, a broad survey and subsequent analysis of well known and agreed-upon aspects of several authors whose works can be considered philosophical was carried out. Such exploratory path in search of connections between the philosophers had Heraclitus at its beginning, followed by Parmenides, Zeno, Plato, Aristotle, Montaigne, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Adorno and Horkheimer, with its main theoretical and thematic references at the first and final steps. Through it, the question of the places given to the concept of reason and to the notion of Difference in this history also emerged as central to handling the relation between Abstraction and Matter.

[pt] Em suma, o objetivo desta investigação é demonstrar o caráter logodicéico da idéia de Deus e sua peculiar cosmologia, cujas ambições mais evidentes consistem na fundamentação da moral em bases sólidas, e no alcance de uma solução ao problema existencial do sentido da vida, demonstrando ainda o caráter teodicéico (e, portanto, igualmente logodicéico) da doutrina metafísica que a acompanha, nomeadamente no que concerne à natureza humana, que se supõe dotada de livre-arbítrio. Finalmente, o presente estudo demonstrará o fracasso da logodicéia da idéia monoteísta de Deus, e das teodicéias que a acompanham, em significar a experiência do mal. / [en] This thesis intends to be a mere effort of critical analysis of the idea of God as an attempt to give a metaphysical and a religious answer to the problem of the meaning, as well of certain arguments in defense of this idea. – But mainly this essay intends to investigate the failure of the theodicy in finding a solution to the problem of evil.
