MARIA PAULA SCHMDIT CARVALHO 22 July 2009 (has links)
[en] This research belongs to the field of relationship between mass culture and national identity and proposes an assessment on how the special coverage produced by the Caravana do Jornal Nacional was received by the Brazilian communities. Caravana JN was a significant project on broadcast journalism executed by Rede Globo right before the national presidential elections. As it was traveling from south to north of Brazil, the Caravana JN went to the encounter of citizens that live in very remote areas with the objective of investigating what would be their wishes and dreams. One of the challenges of this study was to find the same people that were interviewed by the journalist team then, in order to inquire about the whole experience. More than an evaluation about the representations illustrated on this special coverage of the visited communities, this study also investigates how was the encounter between the television professionals and their audience, in what way the communities decoded the Caravana passage and what kind of social interactions the project was capable to promote. The field part of this research was done in two cities of the South and one of the Southeast regions of Brazil. Our analyses was focused on the production routines of broadcast news in which the Caravana JN made impact in terms of innovation, and on the trajectory of a mass communication product that maintains the highest and record audience ratings of the for more than four decades.

[en] This dissertation looks at TV Globo`s local news program RJTV primeira edição, analising, in some of its segments, spaces where it plays a mediator part between the TV spectator and the space where he lives. [en] CONSTRUCTING THE IMAGE ON THE TV NEWS: PERCEPTIVE AND PERSUASIVE PROCESSES / [pt] A CONSTRUÇÃO DA IMAGEM NO TELEJORNALISMO: PROCESSOS PERCEPTIVOS E PERSUASIVOS

BERNARDO PORTUGAL SILVA RAPOSO 14 April 2009 (has links)
[en] How can a box generate images? This was the concern of many Brazilians in relation to the television, when it arrived in Brazil. Since the beginning of the transmission, TV has passed for huge transformations. The number of channels has increased, and for consequence new programs and languages were created. These were enough to enrich what was shown on this new vehicle. The radio and the cinema were not the only references anymore. The first TV news was shown in Brazil two days after the system was inaugurated and few resources were used. Today, many professionals are involved in the production and the design of the news. In order to prove this statement, just take a look at the TV news that are anchored from the newsroom. In Brazil, it happens in Jornal Hoje, Jornal Nacional and Jornal da Globo The questions proposed for this research are related to this esthetic. Are those professionals, who appear behind the anchors in the news room, noticed by the viewers? Would the movement of these people, during the transmission of the TV news, call more the attention of the viewers, in a way that the news are not understood by them? To answer these questions, ten viewers, who usually watch more than three hours of television per day (average spent by those who live in Latin America), were interviewed. The Underlying Discourse Unveiling Method (UDUM) created by Nicolaci-da Costa was used. The reached results show the importance of the relation between verbal the visual and verbal language in the TV news.

LUIZ FILIPE CIRIBELLI BORGES 15 December 2009 (has links)
[en] The aim of the present research is to analyze the representations of individuals and spaces in the city of Rio de Janeiro mediated in RJTV 1st edition, a local newscast produced and broadcast by Rede Globo television network. We base our study on the premisse that, while narrating the cities, newscasts construct representations of city spaces and individuals, simultaneously creating images of themselves as enunciation devices. Our approach to the analysis procedure is based on the most journalistically relevant theme in the newscast editions present in our research corpus: the dengue fever. The theme redimensions day-to-day life in the city of Rio de Janeiro as mediated in RJTV, so that other themes that are always present, such as urban violence, lose journalistic importance. When an epidemic is identified, the newscast increasingly invites more social individuals to comment on the theme, be them public individuals, important inhabitants or common people from the city. Therefore, RJTV acts as an institution that produces and configures meaning on said individuals and on the spaces wherein they circulate or live.

ANA PAULA GOULART DE ANDRADE 30 August 2016 (has links)
[en] This dissertation aims to consider the use of amateur and surveillance cam-eras as a new trend and as part of the creation of TV news s narratives - which is labeled as apocryphal TV news broadcast, which is built from images created outside the Journalism domain. Theoretically, therefore, this work considers the correlation between Communication and Power, as they are basic concepts from Journalism Theory; the digital convergence scenery; and the recent changing in communication technology concerning the TV news broadcasting field. The idea of apocryphal TV news broadcast, its basic features and its unfolding in audio-visual journalism is shown through the study of three nationwide TV news (Jornal Nacional, Jornal da Record e SBT Brasil) and, also, it is depicted from an ethno-graphic analysis based on interviewing eight TV news broadcasting professionals.

[en] BETWEEN BELIEFS AND SCREENS: TRANSTERRITORIAL COMMUNITY, TV NEWS AND WEBSCREENS FROM PORTUGAL / [pt] ENTRE CRENÇAS E ECRÃS: COMUNIDADE TRANSTERRITORIAL, TELEJORNAIS E WEBTELAS DE PORTUGAL

ANA PAULA GOULART DE ANDRADE 26 January 2022 (has links)
[en] In this doctoral thesis, we propose ourselves to work with the changes of Audiovisual Journalism which were intensified by the internet and new digital technologies phenom, most of all, the relations between usage of modes of production, distribution and audience all over the world. In this scenario, we recognize that the TV journalist needed to amplify his mainstream knowledge to multiple screens on social media, using the broadcast model and approaching Audiovisual Journalism language with web environment. Therefore, and sustained by the transorganizational, the transnational and the interpretive community theory, we investigated the TV productive routines of seven TV broadcasts from Portugal (RTP, primarily, and TVI, SIC, CMTV, Banda TV, Globo and Record), acknowledging that journalism activity is linked to a social-historical-cultural identity recognized and comprehended by its productive subjects and is always changing. So, we launched the Transterritorial Interpretive Community concept, articulating the brazilian journalism experience and the portuguese journalism production. In order to do this, the methodological tooling uses hues composed of Audiovisual Materiality Analysis (AMA), participant observation, autoethnography, and semi-structured interviews – total of 37, with 15 hours, 10 minutes and 4 seconds recorded. From that consolidated methods, we also propose our own methodology to analyze the productions flow between multiplied screens, named beting methodology, with the intention of mark the breakups, continuities and potentialities between TV journals and webscreens in Portugal.

DORIS CLARA KOSMINSKY 11 March 2004 (has links)
[en] Brazilian graphic design for television is recognized as an important tendency in visual arts. The graphic design made for TV news is, however, very specific. It has to accomplish the same commitment to ethics and truthfulness that belongs to text journalism. The over-the-shoulder is a graphic product that best represents the connection between information and esthetics. It is a composition of graphic elements, placed beside the presenter or anchor, aiming to reinforce or complement the subject that is resented. In this research, four hundred images of Jornal Nacional`s over-the-shoulder images, exhibited between 1983 and 2002, were selected. In the analysis, five esthetic styles were identified, establishing a relationship with the techniques employed in production and exhibition of the over-the- shoulders. The present dissertation also studies the over- the-shoulder as a synthetic interpretation of social phenomenon.

[en] VOICES OF THE REFORM: AN ANALYSIS OF THE MEDIA COVERAGE OF SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM IN TELEJOURNALISM / [pt] VOZES DA REFORMA: UMA ANÁLISE DA COBERTURA DA REFORMA DA PREVIDÊNCIA SOCIAL NO TELEJORNALISMO

FLAVIA DE OLIVEIRA MOREIRA OLAZ 16 September 2020 (has links)
[en] This research analyses the media coverage of Social Security Reform in Brazilian telejournalism, specifically investigating if Jornal Nacional (JN) and Jornal da Record (JR) have pluralized and diversified voices when reporting about the Social Security Reform, considering that they are supposed to follow the journalistic principals as impartiality and objectivity according to the Code of Ethics of Brazilian Journalists. A bibliographic research was performed to understand the social function of Brazilian television through a brief historical route (BARBOSA, 2013). It is believed that it can resolve the intrinsic relations among this apparatus, the business model (BOLAÑO, 2004), the concentration of media outlets (BRITTOS, 2004; LIMA, 2011) and the function of telejournalism in our society. Alfredo Vizeu s (2000; 2009) and Beatriz Becker s (2005; 2016) concepts were considered in the analyses. In order to attend the objective of identifying the voices heard by JN and JR, a content analyses was performed in the way proposed by Bardin (2016), and after examining 36 editions focusing on the theme, it was possible to say that those TV News have given privilege to some voices instead of others. As a result, all the voices heard by both programs were for the reform. None of the TV News, in the analyzed editions, have shown different points of view, which did not allow a manifestation of opinions or a free debate of ideas.
