Školíková, V. Cooperation of Czech environmental nongovermental non-profit organizations with European NNOs. Diploma thesis. Mendel university in Brno, 2017. This paper is about examining cooperation between Czech ecological NNOs and European NNOs as well as institutions. The objective of this diploma thesis is to provide a recommendation for Czech NNOs how they should enhance better and effective cooperation with European NNOs and institutions working in envi-ronmental and also other fields. According to this objective, the empirical part is focused on qualitative and al-so quantitative approach of a survey. The qualitative part consists of interviews with representatives of different ecological NNOs in the Czech Republic to analyze certain cooperation. The quantitave part is a questionnaire distributed between Czech ecological NNOs to find out more information about their cooperation. The results of the survey are compared and analyzed. Based on the analysis and comparison of results from the survey, a final recommendation, and a state-ment how would it be possible to reach a more effective cooperation between Czech ecological NNOs and European NNOs or institutions are provided. The sur-vey is showing many differencies and similarities how Czech ecological NNOs coo-perate with each other. Based on these findings, a conclusion about how the cooperation should be runnig to get the highest advantages is provided. The results of this diploma thesis are then contributions for ecological NNOs working in the Czech Republic. Based on this result, environmental NNOs can learn a lot of useful tips on how to effectively work with other NNOs and the EU institutions. The results of this study also provide a solution to deal with the obstacles of Czech environmental NNOs. These barriers can be a problem for them to establish stronger cooperation and create better results.

Vývoj elektrochemického detektoru pro monitorování těžkých kovůKoudelková, Zuzana January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation thesis "Development of electrochemical detector for heavy metal monitoring" was to create sensible sensors for the determination of heavy metals in the aquatic ecosystem and which would be usable for real applications, determination of the content of various metals in waste industrial waters. For the simultaneous determination of Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and Cu(II), a carbon paste electrode modified with chromium oxide was developed, based on this modification were produced the screen printed electrodes for the simultaneous determination of said metals with good limit of detection. For the usability of printed sensors in situ, a new electrochemical cell design was designed. This proposed cell also facilitates dosing of samples and buffer necessary for electrochemical analysis. Further, for determination of the total chromium content in aqueous solutions, was introduced a new method using a silver film on a glassy carbon electrode. Finally, various methods for waste water treatment from heavy metals have been tested.

Small scale mining activities in Ghana: a study of the socio-economic and environmental implications in Manso abore in the Amansie west districtAdjei, Ewans Kwame January 2019 (has links)
ABSTRACT The aim of the study is to assess the Socio-economic and environmental implications of small-scale mining activities including illegal operations in the Manso Abore in the Amansie West District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. SSM is an abbreviation that represents Small Scale Mining. The local term used to describe small-scale illegal mining in Ghana is Galamsey. Survey questionnaires were used to collect data from 65 respondents which include miners and non-miners. Interview guide was also used to collect data from key informants. The data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The study found that SSM activities have caused irreversible negative effects on the environment. Miners are given large areas of land for their mining activities, often close to water bodies, which has resulted in deforestation and water pollution, thereby endangering the health of the indigenes. Greater proportions of people had lost their farmlands as a result of the SSM activities. However, SSM has also created opportunity for people to engage in multitasking jobs for a living. It contributed about 80 percent to monthly income. The living conditions of people have been improved through the SSM activities. People have used the income on education of their children, feeding, rent and housing. Farmers adopted measures like planting of trees to replace the lost forest in order to curb the effects of SSM. The institutions such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the District Assembly have put measures to address the negative impacts of the mining activities. The study recommends that all stakeholders should come together and device measures of gaining from SSM activities and at the same time minimizing its negative effects on the environment.
