Swedish Code of Corporate Governance : A study of the compliance with the code among Swedish listed companiesPersson, Therese, Karsberg, Helena January 2005 (has links)
<p>After several scandals in the US, the focus on corporate governance has increased rapidly and led to implementations of “codes of best practice” in many countries. In 2002, the Swedish government appointed a committee with the purpose to develop a Swedish Code of Corporate Governance. The purpose with the code is to help the Swedish industry to regain its confidence in order to attract capital after the scandals that have occurred. The code shall be implemented by Swedish com-panies listed on the A-list on the Stockholm stock exchange and companies on the O-list with a market value above 3 billion SEK and shall be implemented by the 1:st of July 2005.</p><p>The code is based on the principle “comply or explain” which means that companies do not have to comply with the requirements of the code as long as they explain their reasons why they deviate. The purpose of this thesis is thereby to examine to what extent Swedish companies prepare to comply or are already complying with the requirements of the code and the reasons for possible deviations regarding the level of compliance between the companies. In order to answer the purpose stated, the authors have chosen to use both a quantitative and a qualitative method. The authors have sent surveys to all companies obliged to implement the code in order to find out to what extent the Swedish companies prepare to comply or are already complying with the code today. In order to answer the second research question, why companies prepare to comply, or are complying to different degrees, hypotheses were stated and interviews with five companies listed on the Stockholm stock exchange were made.</p><p>The authors found a high compliance rate among Swedish companies, with a mean of 88,49%. The companies on the A-list are complying to a larger extent than the ones on the O-list. Based on the hypotheses, the authors found that companies with higher turnovers are more likely to comply with the code to a larger extent than companies with lower turnovers. Additional reasons to a high degree of compliance rate with the code, are: the need for resources, the impact of media, the culture and personal values within the organization and the fact that the code does not imply any major changes for the organization. Reasons why companies do not prepare to comply or are already complying to a large extent are: the increased devotion of resources that the implementation requires, the high level of details and the complicated requirements of the code. These last-mentioned factors lead to difficulties to interpret the requirements of the code and increased bureaucracy, which thereby lead to a lower level of compliance.</p>

Stil i fokus? : Studie över stilistiska inslag i tidskriften <em>Svenskläraren</em> och internetsajten <em>lektion.se</em>Buskas, Tove January 2009 (has links)

Is Problem-Based Learning (PBL) An Effective Teaching Method? : A Study Based on Existing Research / Är PBL en effektiv undervisningsmetod? : En studie baserad på existerande forskningPagander, Lisa, Read, Jason January 2014 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to examine the empirical research supporting the effectiveness, orineffectiveness of PBL as a teaching method. Secondly, if PBL is an effective method, what does researchsay about the relevance of PBL in connection to the Swedish secondary school curriculum. We took an indepth, critical look at the existing research to find any commonalities or any major contradictory findings. Results show that there is contradictory evidence regarding the effectiveness of PBL as a teachingmethod with the majority of support for PBL coming from the educational medicine field. Results also showthat very little research exists concerning how PBL relates to the guidelines set out in the Swedish Schoolcurriculum (GY11).After presenting the results we discuss the implications that PBL present as a teaching method, aswell as major problems encountered, and how these findings relate to the teaching profession in Sweden.Lastly, we discuss how further research could be beneficial to support the use of PBL.

Utredning av merkostnader för höjning av tillgänglighetsnivån från normal till höjd nivå enligt SS 91 42 21:2006 samt 91 42 22:2006 / Study investigating the additional costs incurred when increasing accessibility according to SIS 91 42 21:2006 and 91 42 22:2006Lundin, Susan January 2014 (has links)
This work is based on an existing drawing designed by Arkinova Arkitekter, and is adapted to normal level of accessibility. The drawing consists of five apartments, with each apartment covering a total floor area between 36-64 m2. To improve accessibility for disabled groups, the apartments have been re-designed to a higher level of accessibility using BIM software Revit Architecture based on SS (Swedish Standard) 91 42 21:2006 and 91 42 22:2006. The purpose of this study was to investigate the additional costs associated with an increased accessibility; these additional costs were calculated in the spreadsheet program BidCon. The result showed that in order to comply with SS’ recommendation around increased accessibility, the floor area in the original drawing had to be increased by 84 m2 to allow increased mobility. This corresponds to a total increase of 25 %, which resulted in an additional costs of 126 014 SEK (22 % increase) including material for walls, doors and floor slab.

A Study of Adjective Use in NPs as an Indicator of Syntactic Development in Swedish L2 Learers' EnglishGan, Haiying January 2015 (has links)
This is a corpus-based study on adjective use in eighty written compositions by Swedish learners of English from Grade 7 and Grade 9 in junior high school, and from Year 1 and Year 3 in senior high school. The aims of the study are to conduct an analysis of the use of attributive adjectives in noun phrases, and to investigate how attributive adjective use contributes to the syntactic complexity of noun phrases. This study proposes a hypothesis of the complexity of noun phrases in relation to different types of attributive adjectives, that is to say, an assumption that more complex types of attributive adjectives contain more compact information that requires more effort to learn and use. The investigation shows that Swedish learners of English in junior and senior high school use an overwhelming number of noun phrases without premodifiers. The findings confirm that less proficient students use more adjectives as premodifiers in noun phrases than nouns as premodifiers. The results of the examination also reveal that students from the four school levels investigated use the most common attributive adjectives frequently, which accouts for more than half of the attributive adjectives used. However, a positive trend is that the use of more complex types of adjectives, such as derivational and participial adjectives, steadily increases in number when students advance in school level. The comparision of the most common attributive adjectives in proportion to other adjectives used in the data from each grade shows that more proficient students use a richer variety of adjectives than less proficient students. Some pedagogical implications in this connection are the need to raise Swedish students’ awareness of different types of adjectives in language teaching and learning. Other pedagogical suggestions are the need to develop students’ skills in elaborating ideas and consolidating syntactic structures in their writing. Keywords: syntactic development, noun premodification, attributive adjective, Swedish learners of English

Den svenska generalstaben som lärande organisation : kunskapsutvecklingen avseende strid om befästa ställningar under första världskriget / The Swedish General Staff as a learning organisation : knowledge development in trenchwarfare during the World War OneLausevic, Vladan January 2014 (has links)
The intention of this essay is to study the Swedish General Staff as a learning organisation during the period of 1914-1918 based on the theoretical work developed by the philosopher Bertil Rolf. Previous international research on the Prussian/German General Staff has shown that it is considered to be the first learning organisation in history. The Swedish General Staff was based on the German General Staff model and the focus of this study is to compare the development the tactics in Germany and Sweden regarding defence and attack in trench warfare. The questions are: How were the possibilities for gathering and analysing informa-tion affected by the war? Which conclusions were made for trench warfare in Swedish conditions? What experiences from the war and exercises in Swedish army were implemented in manuals and training? The conclusion of the study is that the Swedish General Staff was functioning as a learning organisation during the WWI through the ability to follow the international development, mainly in the Central Powers, and by modifying the experiences to the prevailing Swedish strategic and tactical conditions. During the war the German experiences, mainly from the eastern front, were used as a model combining movement and trench warfare. The main reasons were that the conditions on the western front with the concentration of artillery and troops were considered as an anomaly. The learning was created by processing the war experiences and experiences from the annual field exercises in several studies. One additional condition for the learning process was the demanding selection process for the employment of new General Staff officers, a process which meant that only a very small number of officers annually were appointed to general staff officers.

Strukturer och Redskap : En studie av fyra lärares syn på arbetet med elevers läsförståelse / Structures and tools : A study of four teachers' views on the work with pupils' reading comprehensionhagman, johanna January 2017 (has links)
The aim of the present study is to examine four teachers’ experience of pupils’ reading comprehension, with special focus on their perceptions of reading comprehension, their experience of pupils’ changed attitudes to reading in the last ten years, and the reading strategies the teachers use in their teaching The result shows that the teachers have a relatively unanimous view of what reading comprehension means, but they use different reading strategies and they have differing experiences of pupils’ attitudes to reading. The pupils’ decreasing motivation to read means that they need more guidance today than before. The teachers give the pupils a chance to develop their reading ability by revealing different reading strategies, but the lack of motivation in the pupils is an obstacle to their development.

Lärare om läromedel : En intervjustudie om tre lärares val av läromedel / Teachers on teaching material. : An interview study about three teachers’ choice of teaching material.Jonasson, Louise January 2017 (has links)
This study uses interviews to investigate what kinds of teaching material three teachers in the early years of compulsory school use, and how and why they have chosen to use these particular materials. The study also examines which factors guide the teachers in their choice, and what they see as teaching material. The study applies a sociocultural perspective on learning, viewing teaching aids as artefacts created by humans and as a communicative tool in teaching. The informants’ interview responses have been analysed using content analysis. The result shows that the teachers use several different forms of material to teach Swedish to pupils in the early years of compulsory school. They see and use both publisher-produced textbooks and traditional photocopied handouts, as well as tablets, computers and other material, as teaching aids. The teachers think it is important to use more than one form of material in teaching, and that a functional teaching aid should be capable of individual adaptation so that every pupil can work at his or her level of knowledge. Teaching material should also be motivational so that the pupil will be able to acquire an improved knowledge in the subject of Swedish. The potential for individual adaptation is a factor that guides the teachers in their choice of teaching material, but they also consider the look of the material and the faith they place in the textbook publisher.
