Har svenska nyhetstidningars rapportering om SD förändrats mellan 2009 och 2017? / Has Swedish newspapers reports about SD changed between 2009 and 2017?

Östmar Landmark, Paula January 2018 (has links)
There has been an on-going discussion in the Swedish society about the media’s news reporting regarding the political party the Sweden democrats (Sverigedemokraterna.) Some claim that the party has been disfavored by systematically negative reports, others claim either that this is not the case or argue that the party is an extreme right wing party with racist tendencies, hence should not be treated like any other party. The report investigates news articles from four well known Swedish newspapers (Dagens Nyheter, Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet and Ex- pressen) during two separate years - 2009 and 2017 (the years before an election year). In the period between these years the support for the Sweden Democrats increased fast, they entered the Swedish Parlia- ment and became one of the biggest partys. A content analysis has been used to answer the main question of the thesis: "Has the news reports by swedish newspapers regarding the Sweden Democrats changed be- tween 2009 and 2017?" The results show a possible slight increase of negative articles in 2017 as well as an increase of articles that presents the party as turbulent and violent, while the articles that presents the party as xenophobic or rasist decrease in comparison.

She Is Up the Duff - Hon Har en Bulle i Ugnen : A comparative study of euphemisms in English and Swedish

Nilsson, Henrik January 2015 (has links)
There has seemingly never been a study conducted on Swedish euphemisms in comparison to Englisheuphemisms. This study seeks to contribute to the insights regarding euphemisms in everydaysituations. After reviewing existing literature and relevant theoretical texts on this issue, research wasundertaken to garner primary data on this topic. This was effected by distributing a self-administeredquestionnaire in Swedish to fifteen Swedish-speakers and one in English to fifteen English-speakers. Inboth samples, eight individuals were female and seven were male while age and education variedgreatly. They were posed questions featuring different terms for which they were asked to assigneuphemisms in their mother tongue. A number of findings were made which distinguished between theusage of euphemisms by speakers in terms of their respective languages, i.e. English and Swedish, butalso within these language communities in terms of gender and age differences. The study seeminglyaccorded with the general view that males are more direct and do not tend to utilize euphemisms asmuch as females. A further conclusion was that native English speakers are more comfortablediscussing alcohol, in terms of the drinking-cultures, as compared to native Swedish speakers and apossible explanation for this difference was the state alcohol monopoly in Sweden. It may also beconcluded that, while many euphemisms appeared that were particular to the language, it was possibleto identify many cases in which there are closely corresponding euphemisms in both languages.

Amorteringskravets initiala effekter på bostadsmarknaden / The Swedish Amortization Requirement’s Initial Effects on the Housing Market

Båvall, Tobias, Forsström, Viktor January 2017 (has links)
On June 1, 2016, the Swedish Financial Supervisory (Finansinspektionen), in agreement with the Swedish government, imposed an amortization requirement for new housing loans with the intention of reducing the households’ indebtedness. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of the amortization requirement on housing prices in the Swedish housing market. This has been executed using an econometric model and with the support of economic theory and previous research. The study has focused on the change in housing prices in condominiums in Sweden’s three largest municipalities, Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö. The result shows a statistically and economically significant negative effect of the amortization requirement in the municipality of Stockholm, while results for the other two municipalities fail to show statistical significance. Furthermore, this paper shows that factors determining housing prices have developed in a way that positively affects housing prices and limits the effect that the amortization requirement have on housing prices.

Flerspråkighet i svenska skolor : -En systematisk litteraturstudie om synsätt på flerspråkighet och lämpliga arbetsmetoder i skolan för elever med ett annat modersmål än svenska

Brundin, Lisa January 2017 (has links)
In recent years, Sweden has become more multicultural than before. This is due, among other things, to the fact that an increasing number of refugees have applied here. The increased flow of immigrants has caused a lot of prejudice in society, which has also entered the school. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how these prejudices appear in society and schools and also how they may have arisen through relevant research and literature, based on an identity perspective. Since I address problems, I also want to introduce solutions, therefore, are also methods that teachers can use in second language education suggested. In order to answer these questions, research and literature on multilingualism at school have been studied. The result shows that the prejudices are various, for example it is a common idea that pupils who are multilingual are disorderly and monolinguistic students are not. One reason why people think like that is because of the media. Media has a big role in spreading preconceptions that becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. Thus, thoughts and ideas are built upon each other in society onto the incorrect truths published in the media. It is also common that it exists a “us and them feeling”, where Swedes and immigrants separately stick together. In order to challenge these prejudices in school, working methods that include all can be used. In this essay, translanguaging and genre pedagogy, using the circular model, is recommended as favorable teaching methods.

Case studies about swedish companies

Victor, Mofjell January 2016 (has links)
The purpose with this paper is to investigate and get deeper understanding of case studies about Swedish companies. I will focus on the way the case studies have been constructed, the purposes of the studies and how well the findings may be implemented to other contexts. I find this interesting because case studies are something that can benefit every company in other to in some way improve and streamline the business. The data used in this paper will be obtained from various case studies within the subject “Swedish companies” and therefore analyzed to draw conclusions. The findings from this study is that every case study is unique, and there is not one single, optimal way to construct a case study. One must take the purpose of the study into consideration and establish the study from this. However, there are common traits between case studies, such as the ways of obtaining data for the studies and the uniqueness of research question. How well the findings of a case study can be generalized to other contexts also depends on the uniqueness of the purpose of the study.

An entrepreneurial military force? : A Governmentality analysis of Swedish Armed Forces recruits

Rönnblom, Kristoffer January 2019 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyse how well recruits of the Swedish Armed Forces (SAF) have embraced soldier ideals put forward by the SAF following a shift in means of recruiting, changing from a system of compulsive conscription to an All-volunteer force (AVF). This has been done using a Governmentality-analysis of an extensive survey conducted at Ärna Air Base in November of 2019. The concept of Governmentality has to do with the way states and other forms of authorities govern. Launched in the 1970s by French philosopher Michel Foucault, it is based on an understanding that states no longer governing mainly by force, but rather by appealing to its citizens’ free will governing through “the conduct of conduct”, through the creation of self-governing subjects. The recruits were asked to rank different reasons for enlisting, and to assess various ideal qualities of a soldier, as well as pictures used by the SAF with the intention to recruit soldiers. The results were widespread and showed a big dissonance both among the recruits internally but also between the SAF’s military identities promoted by the SAF and the recruits. In some instances, the recruits seem to embrace the SAF’s ideals and in others they seem to be hostile of them. A few reasons for this are suggested in the final chapter of the thesis for example the societal collective understanding of the SAF or the role of the instructing officers.

Samverkan mellan icke-svensktalande föräldrar och förskolan : En kvalitativ studie om icke-svensktalande föräldrars samverkan och förståelse rörande förskolan i Sverige / Collaboration between non-Swedish-speaking parents and preschool : A qualitative study on non-Swedish-speaking parents' cooperation and understanding of the preschool in Sweden

Ahmed, Chaltu January 2020 (has links)

Toward a Unified Whole: Allan Pettersson's Symphony No. 5.

Davis, Colin 08 1900 (has links)
The earlier symphonies of the 1950s embody a gradual realization of Pettersson’s own unique symphonic style, containing large-scale development, repetition, and reiteration. Symphony no. 5 takes these ideas to the extreme and represents the codification of techniques that are further developed in later symphonies. The present study examines the structure of the symphony from a voice-leading perspective. Included in this study is an analysis of the construction of the piece focusing on the development and expansion of motives that operate as structural determinants and the use of chromatic saturation to create intensity and direction. The use of linear analysis in a post-tonal context makes necessary a section devoted to explicating the graphic notation shown in the analysis and the analytical process of determining linear progressions.

Från Reagan till Clinton : Bilden av USA:s politik i svenskkvällspress 1984-1996 / From Reagan to Clinton : Notions of US politics in Swedish evening press 1984-1996

Gref, Erik January 2021 (has links)
This thesis aims to study notions of the USA in Aftonbladet and Expressen, the two major Swedish evening papers, during the American presidential elections of 1984 and 1996. This thesis examines how the predominance of Ronald Reagan's neoliberalism in the 1980s, the US victory in the ColdWar and the success of Bill Clinton's New Democrats in the 1990s affected the notions of the USA expressed in the a forementioned Swedish newspapers. In 1984 the notions were widely different between the two newspapers. Aftonbladet (socialdemocratic) had a very negative view of the USA. American politics was described as fundamentally corrupt, while the American society was seen as violent and harsh. Globally the USA was a destabilizing force and was primarily to blame for the escalating tensions with the Soviet Union. Expressen (liberal) had a more positive notion of the USA. American politics was seen as modern but shallow and callous, the last trait made even worse by the politics of Reagan. USA had a tremendous potential to do good in the world, but lacked the progressive leadership needed to do so. By 1996 the notions of the USA were interchangeable between the two papers. Both papers described American politics as shallow, unsympathetic and pandering to the middle-class. Neither corruption nor violence were mentioned. Under the leadership of Bill Clinton the USA was seen as a guardian of peace in the world.
