L'artiste-passeur chez J. A. Loranger et G. Roy, et, La grange traversee / Artiste-passeur chez J. A. Loranger et G. RoyVachon, Jean-Olivier. January 2001 (has links)
A thematic and formal analysis of Jean-Aubert Loranger's poetic tale "Le Passeur" [1920], and of Gabrielle Roy's novel La Montagne secrete [1962], shows that the construction of the two heroes' respective identity is directly related to the representation of small and large rivers in the two stories. Considering the generic difference between the two texts, these similarities---which are shaped up in a four steps "organizing scheme"---suggest the existence of a real structure in the construction of the modern identity (quebecoise). La Grande traversee, an historical novel about the massive Irish emigration of 1847, narrates the quest of identity of Seamus Doyle, while following the same four steps of this particular movement.

An East-West comparative study of Vygotskian schools of thought : implications for ESL curriculum developmentTviritenova, Victoria. January 1999 (has links)
This East-West comparative study can be looked upon as my attempt to better understand people living in two different worlds and societies---the former Communist Russia and Western countries. It is a chance for me to take the best from the two mentalities and concentrate on what unites Eastern and Western scholars in their interpretation of Vygotskian psychology, his theory on education and his ideas on teaching a second language. Ironically, this became possible far away from Russia, the country where I first heard the name of Vygotsky. / I owe my "meeting" Vygotsky in Montreal to my ESL Curriculum Development, Ethnography classes professor and my thesis supervisor Mary Maguire who has helped me to rediscover Vygotsky on Canadian soil. / My thesis is one more attempt to contribute to the existing research on theoretical interpretations of Vygotsky's theory of psychological development. It is one more voice of a teacher and native speaker of Russian, captivated by Vygotsky's ideas and his lifelong search for the universal concepts essential for building the future. That is, raising and teaching children. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)

The present study provides a descriptive account of the psychogenesis of economical concepts in blind born Chilean school children. Denegri et al. (1998, 2000) demonstrated that sighted children constructed their economical notions through a developmental process that comprised the following three levels: extra economic thinking,, subordinate economical thinking, and inferential economical thinking, which imply successive inclusive knowledge from one level to the next. At the initial stages of this research, no studies were found on the development of economical concepts by blind children.Accordingly, the research question posted was: ¿How would congenitally blind children construe their notions about economy, especially considering their impossibility to gain access to "visible experiences", described by Delval, Enesco and Navarro (1994) as so much important for constructing our notions of the world? In order to answer this question, the Interview on the Origin and Circulation of Money for Blind Children (Keller, 2000) was administered to a sample of 60 blind schoolchildren, balanced by gender and age, sampling all the schools for the blind located in Chile, from very North to the far South. The interviews' contents were subjected to a content analysis in order to establish categories. A frequency analysis and Gamma test were also performed. The results indicate a clear evolution in the conceptualization of economic concepts, despite the participants being at only the first two levels of economic thought (Denegri, 1995b). The findings and implications are discussed in light of other research, and some new recommendations for the teaching of economical concepts are offered.

This study results from a study that aimed to analyze the audiovisual narratives (genre parody) of “Cocoricó Conta Clássicos” series (TV Cultura) from the eyes of children. In order to understand how children interact with these stories through their children's expressions and how they relate these stories to their social context. The research was based on the theoretical contributions of the scholar Propp (1983) in its method of analysis of short stories through the categorized functions. In Vygotsky (1992), in their studies that focus on and analyze the imagination as a specifically human, related to the creative activity of the subject. In psychoanalytic bias Bettelheim (1980) that brings considerations about fairy tales genres and how these relate to children. The theories of Bruner (1987) and the various possibilities of meanings and experiences through the narration of children. And the writer and essayist Held (1980) that places the narrative as a good playful proposal, since for this child to be motivated. In this context, the study was developed with the purpose of research, how is the interaction of children 5 years of a public early childhood institution located in Gama / DF in relation to the classic children's tales program "Cocoricó". To obtain the survey data was used the participant observation method combined the conversation wheel and drawing workshops. Some of the results obtained through participant observation were the relationships that children made between the content of the narratives and experiences of life and it gave their meanings and senses now through imagination, sometimes through its reality.

The woven of this text has its beginning in the work of Antonin Artaud and in the anxiety that arise from the reading-listen experience as if it were a listening. The listening-reading that gathers in the construction of the poet effects of the testimony regarding the moment of the subject fall, of the structure disconnection, of looseness time between the voice and the word, when what arise is the scream. For that, I laid a reading path that is a listening essay in the narrative of Antonin Artaud. This narrative is found in the letters which were wrote by him in his time as an intern in several French mental asylums, from 1937 to 1946. This reading makes his letters as the research compass, but maintain the connection to other work of this poet. Faced with the mental asylum enclosure, the straitjacket and the electro-shock, Artaud remained bound to the art. The theater will compose one of the spaces out of this asylum logic. In the letters, in the theater, in the poems or in the self-portraits, the artist lives to find a way to transcribe what is an scream instance. This study regarding the voice and the writing attempts of the unnamed, leads an auxiliary question about the body. This question arises in the clinical experience which finds, replacing the words from a discursive plot, something else that makes the subject history cyphered in the body. To compose this plot between the plot between the text from Artaud and the questioners that arise from the clinic, I turn to the threads of the lalanage psychoanalyses – theoretical articulator which in my reasoning, connects body and word, voice and writing. Since lalange that I tend to the work of Artaud. Artaud, played, draw, wrote and shout out the scream. With these actions the scream, trace of the real that irrupts in the association chain due to the disarticulation of the speech, can make the passage: from the voice emptiness unanchored from the word during the moment of the subject fall to a time/space of direction and existence. Existence that sustains itself embodied in the work of Artaud.

This master thesis discusses the metapsychology of the analyst. It starts with Sándor Ferenczi and his concern with the psyche of the analyst during work with psychoanalysis. It presents the
psychoanalytic background of the author who composed – from his clinic with difficult
patients – a psychoanalysis, which technique is made sensitive to the singularities of the
analysands, and which elasticity is shown initially in the psychic possibilities and availabilities of the analyst. Subsequently, this study interweaves the theoretical framework with the Clinical Diary of Ferenczi – particularly his metapsychological considerations as an analyst and the demand for alterity – and articulates the Ferenczian understandings of the analyst’s psyche with the theory and clinic of D. W. Winnicott. Lastly, drawing on the convergences of other
psychoanalysts with Ferenczi and Winnicott this piece of research suggests that the analyst’s attention to his or her internal processes are fundamental to achieve the intersubjective work, which is structuring for the contemporary Psychoanalysis.

An assessment of intellectual development in a group of black mineworkers|Liddle, Richard Allan 22 March 2013 (has links)
The aim of this research is to investigate intellectual development of a group of Black mineworkers on a South African gold mine, in the light of their exposure to a technical industrial environment. The research was conducted within a Piagetian framework and attempts to establish:- 1. A conceptual profile which would highlight the subject's conceptual abilities in relation to job skill requirements. 2. An empirical analysis of combined Behavioural and 3. Explanatory responses to support the hypothesis that experienced Black mineworkers should perform better on the diagnostic battery than novices: the main reason for this being the contention that conceptual development is facilitated by cognitive adaptation to the demands of a selectively different technological environment. Whether the battery of Piagetian conservation tasks could be evaluated for use as conservation scales with sound statistical properties. A random sample of fifty six Black mine workers was realised and their performance indicated that:- a ) The concept of Force is not actively developed by mining. b) There was no significant difference in the performance of Novice and Experienced subjects. c) The diagnostic battery in its present form is inadequate and would have to undergo some relative modifications. d) Conceptual profiles showed that concept areas tapped were not developed past the stage of Concrete operations, and that in some instances subjects did not conserve concepts which are relevant to the occupation they were selected for on the Classification Test Battery. e) Piagetian methodology could only be selectively applied to the mining industry for purposes of selection and placement. f) Conservation scales were not realised because of anomalies found in the composition of sub-concepts in the battery. / KMBT_363 / Adobe Acrobat 9.53 Paper Capture Plug-in

A study of the novels of F. Scott FitzgeraldRodda, Peter January 1967 (has links)
Henry Dan Piper has exploded the legend that all of Fitzgerald' s books where out of print when he died. There may be similar romantic exaggeration which does not bear examination in the popular view that Fitzgerald's reputation as an artist was eclipsed in his later years and magically revived after his death by the editing and publication by Edmund Wilson in 1941 of the unfinished novel Last Tycoon, and of The Crack-Up. Investigation by Matthew J. Bruccoli has shown the essential oversimplification inherent in the widely-held belief that Fitzgerald's last complete novel to be published, Tender is the Night was dismissed or ignored by reviewers demanding novels of social conscience. Fitzgerald attracted legends and since his death has become something of a folk-hero the type of the golden boy who achieved early and instantaneous fame, lives riotously and is then engulfed by the backwash of his own youthful folly somehow leaving an unpublished masterpiece to confound his critics at his early death. Preface, p. 1.
