Användningen av 5S och TPM på en företagskritisk maskinstation inom produktionen / The use of 5S and TPM in a business critical machine station within production

Au-Yeung, Chingying, Andreasson, Emma January 2017 (has links)
The project was performed at Parker Hannifin Cylinder Division at Falköping, where a station in the most critical flow at the production has been studied, which is the hand welding station. Within this report, the purpose is to identify disturbances, in order to eliminate and reduce these by coming up with improvement proposals. Furthermore, the aim is to help improve the company's work with 5S and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance). A combination of tools and concepts are being used in this project when generating improvement proposals to avoid the risk of falling back into old habits and facilitate the work. The combination of concepts, intends to be continued to work with, in order to facilitate for the company to reach even higher results. The methodology of TPM is the basis of the project, although it is not about a complete implementation of TPM, but is limited to chosen parts since it is a time consuming process that can go on for years. The main focus of TPM is about the first pillar, 5S. Action plans for how to solve these problems and how to achieve the desired state has been established.Thereafter, the researchers in cooperation with the company´s staff have implemented a couple of small improvement proposals. Further improvement proposals have also been presented in this report, but due to the limited time no implementations was made. Moreover, this project is divided into a couple of phases. Situational analysis has been made through both interviews with staff and observation studies. Analysis has also been made by some numeric data taken out by researchers and partly through mapping the equipment. The intention of this is to create a status image of the current situation over the hand welding station. The current state has shown the appearance of problems and challenges that exist. Additional wastages and disturbances in the station can come up to the surface and can thus easily be identified. In turn, occurring wastages and disturbances can be eliminated and the amount of wasted time reduced with help of the action plans to reach a future state.Another method that occurs is spaghetti charts. It has been used for mapping up the existing procedures during the process of the orders in the station, and by that identified different types of disturbances. In addition, the creation of a Value Stream Mapping (VSM) has been made. The map is used as a measurement to identify how much time on a working day that is spent as value adding time and non-value adding time of work.

Verksamhetsutveckling rörande produktframtagning och CE-märkning / Business development concerning product development and CE marking

Bergensand, Joakim, Capar, Firat-Yekta January 2022 (has links)
This is a degree project in Industrial Economics and Production that deals with MTR Tech's tool development process where there is no standardized way of working. The company has long-standing problems with quality differences in the product development process of purchased and self-manufactured tools, as well as in need of a guide for the implementation of CE marking, hence the emergence of this degree project. The goal of the degree project is to streamline and increase the quality of MTR Tech's CE marking process of machines by creating a new process with a guide, quality control and a checklist. In this study, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the supervisor from the company, which resulted in a process map that was used as a starting point for further work. In addition, a literature study has been conducted with a focus on process management, quality work and lean. The degree project resulted in an improvement project regarding the current process map, which is a new process map which, according to identified waste, includes relevant processes, a checklist, a guide for implementing CE marking and a control process before launch for finished products.

Utformning av verkstadslayout för paketeringsverkstad / Design of factory layout for packaging workshop

Munkhdalai, Ariunbold, Pektas, Tolga January 2022 (has links)
This thesis project is part of a bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Economics & Production at the Royal Institute of Technology. The goal and purpose of this thesis is to improve ergonomics and working methods in Verkstaden X by producing two new workshop layouts. This is meant to solve their problems regarding bottlenecks and repetitive strain damage, which gives rise to long delivery times and work injuries. In order to make suggestions for improvement on their current problems, an implementation of the LEAN philosophy and the ergonomics theory will be carried out in the new workshop layout. To succeed in this, several previous research articles, observations, interviews, and literature studies were studied. The interviewees were employees and supervisors in Verkstaden X where they helped to identify and analyze their current problems in the student department and what gave rise to bottlenecks and strain injuries. Through data collection, two new workshop layouts were produced that promote LEAN philosophies and ergonomics in the workshop's workflow and working methods. Workshop layouts were designed as a 2D drawing where the workflow and employees' tasks are described, as well as mapping of workstations and the movement of goods and orders. Verkstaden X has several wastes, which means that they have a capacity that cannot relate to the demand that exists, which is downtime between and in workstations, inefficient working methods, and lack of instructions. Then the two layout proposals were compared with each other with Pugh matrix, where Layoutsförlag 2 was considered the best layout proposal, and which was recommended to Verkstaden X. The authors of this report state that Verkstaden X workflow can relate to the demand that exists through the improvement proposals highlighted in this thesis. The suggestions for improvement are new work routines, which means that the sorter must use PDAs and that the packer must use new workbenches that provide measurements of which packages to use, this means that the new equipments change the work routines. Better communication between supervisor and employee was also one of the solution proposals, where the supervisors office is moved into the department to ensure more presence.
