No. of bitstreams: 1 Joana_Rocha_2014.pdf: 684729 bytes, checksum: 9e2771da2e3dd08d3cff76d80f31d355 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-10-24 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The growing demand for aquaculture feed of excellent nutritional quality to maximize the performance of animals raised. However, stagnation and decreased availability of ingredients that fulfill the nutritional requirements of the fish depend on both the nutritional equivalent substitutes as financial environment. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the inclusion of fish protein hydrolyzate in diets for fingerlings of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus. 300 fish (5.4 ± 0.9 g) were distributed in a completely randomized in 20 polythene containers of 250 L with five treatments and four replicates were used design. Vegetable diets were formulated to be isonitrogenous and isocaloric consists of corn, corn gluten meal, wheat bran, soybean meal and soybean oil were added and the levels of hydrolyzed fish and one control diet (0%) and four test feed containing 1, 2, 3 and 4% fish protein hydrolyzate, based on dry matter. The animals were fed to satiation four times daily for 112 days. At the end of the experimental period, the animals were measured and weighed to determine the final weight, total length, survival rate, weight gain, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio and condition factor. Levels hydrolyzed influenced the productive aspects of the Nile tilapia, which by quadratic regression we estimate the optimal inclusion of 1.79% for final weight, 1.77% to gain weight, 1.75% to rate and the specific growth rate to 1.97% protein efficiency. However, it is suggested to Nile tilapia inclusion of 1.78% of fish protein hydrolyzate for better productive performance.

Adding Layers : Adaptive Reuse in Tensta Centrum / Addera Lager : adoptiv återanvändning i Tensta Centrum

Ahlmark, Jonatan January 2014 (has links)
The project examines how a new structure could be added on top a 60’s school building without interfering with its structurally order and aesthetical manifestation. A new space for the citizens of Tensta, a hovering glass box that puts Tensta Centrum on the map. Together with new office spaces for the City District Administration it would work as a catalytic effect for the area. New spatial qualities emerges and the composition, the old vs the new, together creates Tensta’s new Town Hall.

Developing the Definite Integral and Accumulation Function Through Adding Up Pieces: A Hypothetical Learning Trajectory

Stevens, Brinley Nichole 14 June 2021 (has links)
Integration is a core concept of calculus. As such, significant work has been done on understanding how students come to reason about integrals, including both the definite integral and the accumulation function. A path towards understanding the accumulation function first, then the definite integral as a single point on the accumulation function has been presented in the literature. However, there seems to be an accessible path that begins first with understanding the definite integral through an Adding Up Pieces (AUP) perspective and extending that understanding to the accumulation function. This study provides a viable hypothetical learning trajectory (HLT) for beginning instruction with an AUP perspective of the definite integral and extending this understanding to accumulation functions. This HLT was implemented in a small-scale teaching experiment that provides empirical data for the type of student reasoning that can occur through the various learning activities. The HLT also appears to be a promising springboard into developing the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Additionally, this study offers a systematic framework for understanding the process- and object-level thinking that occurs at different layers of integration.

Stomprojektering för påbyggnad av industribyggnad : Att bygga på en smideverkstad / Structural design of core structure : Adding a floor to an industry workshop

Kuczynska, Angelika, Kärkkäinen, Mikko January 2014 (has links)
This report is the result of a Bachelor thesis in civil engineering at Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Formed in collaboration with Oljibe AB and TH-konsult. The need of more workplaces and a larger office at Oljibes head office in Västberga Industrial area has got greater the past years. Now with the company growing they feel the need to offer all the employees their own working station. Decision has been taken to build one more floor with office space above the workshop beside the head office. This will be enough to satisfy that need. At the start of the thesis there was already a building permit and a design idea for the additional office floor. The new office area is planned to be both modern and inspiring for the employees of the company. This report includes calculations of loads, load cases and capacity of the old core structures. As conclusion also calculations and a recommendation of a possible solution for the new core structure that we see as the most beneficial. Oljibe has set the goal to start constructing in the near future, so it’s soon possible to see it in reality what still is just an idea and drawings. This makes it all little bit more exciting.

Defending against Adversarial Attacks in Speaker Verification Systems

Li-Chi Chang (11178210) 26 July 2021 (has links)
<p>With the advance of the technologies of Internet of things, smart devices or virtual personal assistants at home, such as Google Assistant, Apple Siri, and Amazon Alexa, have been widely used to control and access different objects like door lock, blobs, air conditioner, and even bank accounts, which makes our life convenient. Because of its ease for operations, voice control becomes a main interface between users and these smart devices. To make voice control more secure, speaker verification systems have been researched to apply human voice as biometrics to accurately identify a legitimate user and avoid the illegal access. In recent studies, however, it has been shown that speaker verification systems are vulnerable to different security attacks such as replay, voice cloning, and adversarial attacks. Among all attacks, adversarial attacks are the most dangerous and very challenging to defend. Currently, there is no known method that can effectively defend against such an attack in speaker verification systems.</p> <p>The goal of this project is to design and implement a defense system that is simple, light-weight, and effectively against adversarial attacks for speaker verification. To achieve this goal, we study the audio samples from adversarial attacks in both the time domain and the Mel spectrogram, and find that the generated adversarial audio is simply a clean illegal audio with small perturbations that are similar to white noises, but well-designed to fool speaker verification. Our intuition is that if these perturbations can be removed or modified, adversarial attacks can potentially loss the attacking ability. Therefore, we propose to add a plugin-function module to preprocess the input audio before it is fed into the verification system. As a first attempt, we study two opposite plugin functions: denoising that attempts to remove or reduce perturbations and noise-adding that adds small Gaussian noises to an input audio. We show through experiments that both methods can significantly degrade the performance of a state-of-the-art adversarial attack. Specifically, it is shown that denoising and noise-adding can reduce the targeted attack success rate of the attack from 100% to only 56% and 5.2%, respectively. Moreover, noise-adding can slow down the attack 25 times in speed and has a minor effect on the normal operations of a speaker verification system. Therefore, we believe that noise-adding can be applied to any speaker verification system against adversarial attacks. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt in applying the noise-adding method to defend against adversarial attacks in speaker verification systems.</p><br>

Developing a standardized framework for achieving efficient material flow by eliminating effects of non value added activities

GONDI, REVANTH SAI, KURUGONDA, RINESH January 2020 (has links)
In today’s competitive global market every companies strive to overcome challenges that occur during manufacturing in order to gain profits and stay in competition. Overcoming challenges include elimination or reduction of non-value adding activities that are happening in production. To eliminate non-value adding activities and achieve desired workflow it is important to follow set of successful strategies which suits production system. In this current research framework has been proposed which aids reduction of non-value adding activities and also plays an important role in achieving efficient material flow. Current research is carried out in a single case study at a Swedish manufacturing firm where identification of effects of existing non-value-added activities in major aspects of material flow was carried out. By analysing the findings from case company along with data from literature review effects of NVA on material flow were identified in production facility and solution has been recommended in the form of framework to overcome these problems. In the conclusion a set of strategies were developed into a framework by analysing the effects of existing NVA in production facility has been further recommended for implementation at case company to check for generalisability of developed framework. This framework aids in overcoming common problems associated with material flow along with eliminating effects of NVA activities and also helps improving productivity which enhances proper flow of materials into line.

The Supply Chain of Textile Manufacturing: Africa's Role as a Backward Participant

Lindahl, Amanda, Özdemir, Umut January 2023 (has links)
Globalization transformed supply chains, resulting in increased productivity, complexity, and risk exposure. Textile supply chains are complex and facing similar challenges along with more specific for the industry. Africa is of increasing interest in textile supply chains due to low cost of production. Participating in supply chains through manufacturing, and infrastructural issues limit the possibility of adding value, which is an issue for African countries. The aim of this thesis is to analyze effects of participating in a global textile supply chain, current trends in textile manufacturing, and African countries’ role. Especially of concern for this thesis are South Africa, eastern African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, and northern African countries such as Morocco. The questions that have been answered are; (1) what trends are impacting textile supply chain manufacturing from a global perspective? and (2) what role does the African region play in textile manufacturing within global supply chains? For this thesis inductive research was performed with relativistic ontology, constructionist epistemology and single case study methodology. Qualitative data was gathered through semi-structured interviews and secondary data, and that data will be thematically analyzed with triangulation between the primary and secondary data. The research found and concluded that the major trends in textile manufacturing are sustainability and nearshoring. Africa’s role in global textile supply chains is mainly through manufacturing with complex supply chains, low education levels, and limited value adding activities. Due to young populations and sustainable practices, there are opportunities for the continent to continue to develop and add more value in the future.

Developing a Quantitative Understanding of U-Substitution in First-Semester Calculus

Fonbuena, Leilani Camille Heaton 12 December 2022 (has links)
In much of calculus teaching there is an overemphasis on procedures and manipulation of symbols and insufficient emphasis on conceptual understanding of calculus topics. As such students to struggle to understand and use calculus ideas in applied settings. Research shows that learning calculus topics from a quantitative reasoning-perspective results in more powerful and flexible conceptions of calculus topics like integration. However, topics beyond introducing integrals and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, like u-substitution, have yet to be explored from a quantity-based perspective. In this study, I conducted a set of two clinical interviews where we discussed quantitative meanings of integrals, derivatives, and differentials and used those meanings to quantitatively develop u-substitution. This study suggests that given the scaffolding of the quantity-based tasks students can develop the u-substitution structure (substitution of the bounds, the function, and the differential) by applying quantitative reasoning. It also suggests that two-quantity quantitative relationships are critical to students' productive thinking about substitution. Finally, this study offers a theoretical and quantitatively grounded framework for understanding u-substitution.

Identificação dos perfis de patrocinadores que agregam mais valor aos eventos de corrida de rua: um estudo na visão dos consumidores do esporte / Identification of sponsor profiles that add value to street racing events

Parolini, Pedro Lucas Leite 16 November 2016 (has links)
In the 90s the street race underwent a significant change in your event concept. The entertainment character began to be exploited by the event producers in this sector, giving rise to the concept of fashions races. Only in the state of São Paulo were offered 415 street racing events in 2015. Realizing this expanding market, companies from various sectors are seeking to combine the sport in question, and in turn producing these events seek these sponsors for funding these activities. Thus, objective of this study was to identify the profile of sponsors that add more value to street racing events: a study in view of the consumers of this sport. To meet this objective we chose a qualitative methodology exploratory. A mixed questionnaire to a sample of 407 runners in four road race event was applied. The questionnaire contained open and closed questions, which the frequencies were analyzed the responses and their contents respectively. As a result we got a sponsor profile that is congruent segments with sport and street racing as sports segment, food and shoes for runners. Moreover, according to consumers, these sponsors must activate their brands during the sport events. These activations should be associated with attributes that consumers consider as street racing attributes as health, friendship, quality of life, well-being, socialization and fun. It is concluded that there are sponsors that add more value than others in the consumer\'s view of this sport. This information can be useful for street racing producers, since these companies should be sought in a possible prospect for sponsors for the sport events. Sponsors that add more value to the event are perceived by consumers, resulting in a positive perception of that event in question and its sponsors
