Možnosti podpory dětí a dospívajících s ADHD ve škole i mimo ni / The possibilities of supporting children and teenagers suffering from ADHD at school and outside

Horký, Hynek January 2018 (has links)
The aim of the thesis named "The possibilities of supporting children and teenagers suffering from ADHD at school and outside" comes from author's personal experience with teenage students suffering from ADHD. The main goal of the thesis is to picture mentioned syndrome in the context of education of the students, therefore the thesis mainly focuses on teenagers and adults who suffer from this handicap. The text consists of two main parts. The ethology of the disorder is introduced in the first part as well as its symptomatology which changes from the childhood through the teenage years to adulthood. The possibilities of diagnostics and treatment are also mentioned - always with the focus on how could the school or the teacher be involved in the process of education. The other chapters are directly focused on the possibilities of the ADHD students' education and its' reflection in the current legislative system, from pre-school age to adulthood. The research study which is described in the second part, is based on questionnaires and semi-structured interviews answered by students and teachers at two types of higher educational institutions. The study was intended to show the relationship between students with ADHD and teachers and to examine, how the ADHD influences the learning abilities, the...

Diagnos ADHD-Hjälpa eller stjälpa? : En kvalitativ intervjustudie med fem skolpsykologer / Diagnosing ADHD Help or hinder? : A qualitative study of five school psychologists

Kristian, Haggärde, Wingren, Johannes January 2014 (has links)
Aim The purpose of the study is to examine how children with ADHD are diagnosed, and if it is positive for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD. Questions: 1. How reliable is the assessment work in the diagnosis of ADHD by the school psychologist's point of view? 2. What advantages and disadvantages are there for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD? Method The study was conducted using a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by five interviews with school psychologists from Stockholm. All interviews were audio recorded and later transcribed. The collected material was analyzed by qualitative content analysis for structuring and pick out the most significant findings from the interviews. Results The diagnosis of ADHD appears to be problematic. One reason is that the investigations may differ from psychologist to psychologist.Another reason is that ADHD is a diagnosis that is difficult to define, and that may vary from case to case. There seem to be both disadvantages and advantages to getting a diagnosis. The benefits are mainly that students get a better sense of self, and to that teachers can adapt their teaching in a better way. The main disadvantages may be that there is stigma on different planes where ADHD problem is amplified. Conclusion There is a risk of children being diagnosed because it is the assessment work that varies from case to case. By getting diagnosed with ADHD, students receive both positive and negative effects. In large part, the outcome depends on how the school works with students.

Norberg, Johanna, Eriksson, Malin January 2013 (has links)

Impairment, executive function, and symptoms: Understanding ADHD in emerging adulthood

Dorr, Morgan M 04 May 2018 (has links)
While Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common psychological disorders diagnosed during development, adult ADHD remains vastly under recognized and undertreated. In an effort to better understand current issues with adult ADHD assessment, this study examined the relationship between symptoms, impairment, and executive functioning. Results indicate that among individuals who screened negative for ADHD, those higher in executive function reported experiencing significantly less impairment than those lower in executive function. Executive function was shown to have a negative relationship with impairment and ADHD symptomology was shown to have a positive relationship with impairment. Additionally, impairment was significantly predicted by ADHD symptoms and executive function, and there was a significant interaction between executive function and ADHD symptoms in predicting impairment. Understanding the relationship between executive function, ADHD symptoms, and impairment is critically important in better understanding adult ADHD.

ADHD hos flickor : En litteraturstudie kring dess symtom och psykosociala effekter

Khalili, Sandra January 2021 (has links)
ADHD is one of the most common diagnoses in children and adolescents. For many years, researchers believed that ADHD only affected boys, which led to research being conducted only on boys and men. Recent research has shown, however, that girls are also diagnosed and that it can instead show up in several different ways. Girls showed more often introverted symptoms, while boys more often expressed extroverted symptoms. Previous research shows that girls more often have a comorbidity with depression and anxiety and try to hide their ADHD diagnosis to a greater extent than boys. The purpose of this essay was to increase knowledge about girls' ADHD symptoms and the psychosocial effects that follow. To answer the purpose, a literature study was used where a number of articles were reviewed and compiled. The results of the study indicated insufficient knowledge about girls with ADHD as well as symptoms, treatment and its psychosocial effects. Teachers and other professions had limited knowledge about ADHD and more often recognized stereotypical symptoms that are more prevalent in boys. One can therefore come to the conclusion that girls' symptoms are often overlooked and not always taken as seriously. From a feminist perspective, it can be seen as a phenomenon based on the power structures we live under, which has often become an integral part of our identity.

You focus on the addict when treating a person, but you also consider the diagnosis : A quality study of social workers experiences to work with persons with ADHD and drugaddiction

Holmström, Ronja, Sikberger, Sofia January 2014 (has links)

Farinotte, Amelie January 2017 (has links)

The Incremental Utility of Behavioral Rating Scales and a Structured Diagnostic Interview in the Assessment of ADHD

Vaughn, Aaron 02 October 2009 (has links)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a disorder characterized by a persistent pattern of developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Currently, clinicians typically utilize a multi-method assessment battery focusing on identifying the core symptoms of ADHD. Further, current recommendations for a comprehensive assessment of ADHD require a lengthy and costly evaluation protocol despite a lack of evidence supporting the incremental utility of each method. Assessment strategies exhibiting the strongest evidence of reliability and validity include symptom-based rating scales, empirically-derived rating scales, and structured diagnostic interviews (Pelham, Fabiano, & Massetti, 2005), yet, their review provided limited empirical support for this conclusion. Nonetheless, other reviews have noted the lack of research examining whether each procedure and/or method adds unique information to a diagnosis of ADHD (Johnston & Murray, 2003). In order to fill this gap in the literature, the current study examined the independent and incremental utility of multiple methods and informants in a comprehensive, “gold standard” assessment of ADHD. The sample include 185 children with ADHD (Mage =9.22, SD=.95) and 82 children without ADHD (Mage =9.24, SD=.88). Logistic regressions were used to examine the incremental contribution of each method in the prediction of consensus diagnoses derived by two Ph.D. level experts in the field of ADHD following a review of comprehensive assessment data. This study also examined the clinical utility and efficiency of diagnostic algorithms using the methods demonstrating the greatest statistical association with a diagnosis of ADHD. Finding provided an empirical support for arguments espousing the redundancy of information in a comprehensive assessment. Namely, information collected from a structured diagnostic interview was unable to significantly improve a prediction model including parent and teacher ratings (Block X2-= .91 = .64). Importantly, parent and teacher ratings on a symptom-based scale alone were able to correctly classify 265 of 267 participants. Based on these results, a diagnostic algorithm that was derived utilizing only behavioral rating scales was able to classify correctly all 267 participants. Clinical implications are highlighted and future research directions are discussed.

: Intervenční metody ke zlepšení kognitivního výkonu u dětí s ADHD / Interventional methods for improving cognitive performance in case of children with ADHD

Baierová, Aneta January 2019 (has links)
The thesis describes cognitive abilities and attention of children and adolescents with ADHD. It deals with therapeutic and intervention strategies that can be used to reduce symptomes of the disease and to improve cognitive performance of people with the diagnosis. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes findings about attention and the structure of cognitive abilities of people with ADHD. A separate chapter lists intervention approaches used in the context of the diagnosis, such as pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and also different kinds of alternative approaches (relaxation, exercises, food complements, compensatory tools etc.). In the empirical part we examine a specific intervention, use of earplugs to eliminate the background noise, can improve the cognitive performance of children with ADHD. The research involved fourteen children with the diagnosis of ADHD. The CAS 2 assessment battery was used to measure their cognitive skills. The statistical analysis confirmed the difference between the cognitive profile of children with ADHD and normal population in executive functioning without working memory. When using the earplugs children with ADHD had better results in the overall score and on the planning scale and successive processes scale. Keywords: Attention, ADHD, therapy of ADHD, earplugs.
