Polimorfismo Arg16Gly e Gln27Glu do Gene β2-ADR e a sensibilização fúngica associada ao controle e gravidade da asma / β2-adrenergic receptor gene polymorphism Arg16Gly, Gln27Glu and fungal sensitization associated with the control and severity of asthma

Denicy Alves Pereira Ferreira 25 March 2013 (has links)
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the lower airways, and is a result of the interaction between genetic and environmental factors. Aimed to study polymorphism and Arg16Gly Gln27Glu Gene β2-ADR and fungal sensitization associated with asthma severity and control. It is an observational, analytic case-control study involving asthmatic subjects of the Assistance Program to the Asthmatic Patient - APAP, in the Presidente Dutra University Hospital, Maranhão, Brazil. Eighty-three asthmatic patients and 46 non-asthmatic controls were included in the study. PCR-RFLP genotyping of the β2AR-16 and β2AR-27 genes, and fungal-specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were made in two 5 ml blood samples collected from the participants. Control data were gathered from the Asthma Control Questionnaire (ACQ) and clinical data from the medical records. The analysis of the polymorphism has not demonstrated association between the asthma control status and the β2AR-16 and β2AR-27 genes. There was statistically significant difference (p < 0,05) between asthmatics and non-asthmatics, with higher expression (74%) of the Glu allele in non-asthmatic subjects. The Glu/Glu homozygote was also more frequent between non-asthmatics, and it suggests that the Glu-27 allele might be associated with a lower risk to develop asthma. Regarding fungal sensitization, there wasn't significant association with the studied genotypes. The study demonstrated that severe asthmatics are more sensitized than non-asthmatics and moderate asthmatics. There wasn't statistically significant difference between asthma control and fungal sensitization; nevertheless, there was significant association with the severity level. Isolated associations between fungal sensitization and asthma, as well as associations between polymorphisms and asthma were evident in this study.

Extracting Known Side Effects from Summaries of Product Characteristics (SmPCs) Provided in PDF Format by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) using BERT and Python

Buakhao, Rinyarat January 2024 (has links)
Medicines and vaccines have revolutionized disease prevention and treatment, offering numerous benefits. However, they also raise concerns about Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), which can have severe consequences. Summaries of Product Characteristics (SmPCs), provided by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and Structured Product Labelings (SPLs), provided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), are valuable sources of information on drug-ADR relations. Understanding these relations is crucial as it contributes to establishing labeled datasets for known ADRs and advancing statistical assessment methods. Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has developed a text mining pipeline to extract known ADRs from SPLs. While the pipeline works effectively with SPLs, it faces challenges with SmPCs provided in PDF format. This study explores extending the scanner component of the pipeline by utilizing Python PDF extraction libraries to extract text from SmPCs and fine-tuning domain-specific pre-trained BERT-based models for Named Entity Recognition (NER), which is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) task, aiming to identify known ADRs from SmPCs. The investigation finds pypdfium2 [1] to be the optimal Python PDF extraction library, and fine-tuned PubMedBERT—a domain-specific language model pre-training from scratch [2]—for the NER task achieves the best performance in identifying ADRs from SmPCs. The model's performance, evaluated using entity-level evaluation metrics including Exact, Covering, and Overlap match metrics, achieves F1-scores of 0.9138, 0.9268, and 0.9671, respectively, indicating significantly good performance. Consequently, the extension model investigated in this study will be integrated into the existing pipeline by UMC professionals.

Mediace a obchodní spory: Vnitrostátní a mezinárodní perspektivy / Mediation of Commercial Disputes: Domestic and International Perspectives

Svatoš, Martin January 2013 (has links)
SUMMARY: MEDIATION OF COMMERCIAL DISPUTES - DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES Dr. Martin Svatoš This paper addresses the mediation and its use in the both domestic and international commercial disputes. The milieu that serves as a source of the problems to be resolved during mediation is a specific one. It demands quick, cost-effective and confidential resolution of complicated disputes involving several parties. In general, this cannot be granted by the traditional ways of dispute resolution - litigation and arbitration. Mediation is regarded as a cost-effective and quick extrajudicial resolution of disputes in civil and commercial matters through processes tailored to the needs of the parties. On the other hand, there are several legal and legal-related issues that have to be discussed. And thus, the question that remains to be answered is: Is mediation really as effective as it is told? And in the case of a positive answer - why it is not the most commonly used dispute resolution procedure? The main goal of this thesis is to answer these queries. Its first part focuses on the issue of mediation in general. Quite surprisingly, there is no exact definition of mediation neither in the legal acts, nor in the opinion of the ADR experts. In contrast, plenty of definition can be found after short...

Etude et réalisation d'une ADR spatiale 4 K - 50 mK / Study and realization of a 4 K – 50 mK adiabatic demagnetization refrigerator for space

Brasiliano, Diego Augusto Paixao 15 May 2017 (has links)
Highly sensitive detectors required for astrophysics missions demand temperatures of about 50 mK to operate with the targeted sensitivity. This PhD work is dedicated on the research and development of Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigerators (ADR) for space in the 4 K - 50 mK range. In particular, this cryocooler is required to be efficient with optimized mass. The key points of this work are the development of a method allowing the identification of highly efficient paramagnetic materials and the improvement of thermal heat switches. Among the material studied, YbGG (Yb3Ga5O12) was identified to have a great potential as a magnetic refrigerant in the 1.5 K - 0.4 K range, which was confirmed by its characterization. Transient thermal short circuits may appear on the gas-gap thermal switches under the working conditions of this cryocooler. This study allowed us to suppress or to considerably attenuate this effect. Finally, a cryocooler prototype consisting of 3 ADR stages was designed and built.

Příčiny vzniku dopravních nehod při přepravě nebezpečných látek. / Forming factors of traffic accidents in transporting dangerous substances.

SANDOROVÁ, Radka January 2010 (has links)
The thesis ``Causes of Accident Occurrence in Transporting Dangerous Substances{\crq}q is aimed at the topic of road accidents in transport of dangerous substances, which is one of its inseparable parts on which extra stress is placed and cannot be classified as common transport. Road transport of dangerous substances is subject to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). Although the safety of road transport of dangerous goods is broadly secured in the sense of ADR there are still numerous factors affecting the transport course itself, which may lead to a road accident. Road accidents of vehicles transporting dangerous goods often involve leaks of dangerous substances and subsequent threat to human lives and health, damage on environment and property. This is why transport of dangerous substances definitely belongs to activities with higher risk rate. The fact that the time and place of accident occurrence cannot be determined in advance even escalates the danger. The thesis is aimed at surveying the situation in the field of causes of accident occurrence in transporting dangerous substances, discovering the level of awareness of the problems of dangerous substance transport and the causes of road accidents among traffic participants and proposing concrete preventive measures. Quantitative research was performed to gain information necessary to confirm my hypotheses. Secondary analysis of the data from the Police of the Czech Republic archives was used as the method for confirmation of hypotheses. A questionnaire survey was used for determination of the level of awareness among traffic participants. The hypotheses set in the thesis, that the causes of accident occurrence in transporting dangerous substances have direct influence on accident frequency and common road traffic participants do not have sufficient knowledge of the problems of dangerous substance transport have been confirmed.

Brunlöf, Johan, Wilander, Johan January 2017 (has links)
This thesis handles the area around time reporting within the consulting field and how it can be facilitated.
