A TEORIA DAS INTELIGÊNCIAS MÚLTIPLAS E SUA RELAÇÃO COM O PROCESSO DE ENSINO E APRENDIZADO DO DESENHO: UM ESTUDO COM ADOLESCENTES / THE MULPLY INTELIGENCE THEORY AND ITS RELATION TO THE TEACHING PROCESS AND THE DRAW´S LEARNING: AN ADOLESCENT STUDY CASE

Fernandes, Márcia Moreno 29 August 2005 (has links)
This reasearch, along the lines on Education end Arts, had as its main goal to analyze and to verify the development of the Multiple Intelligences of Howard Gardner through the Observational Drawing. Along these lines, we have chosen three particular Multiple Intelligences (Spatial, Cinestesic-corporal and Personal - intra and interpersonal), among the eight available intelligences. The reason for selecting them is that they are more appropriated in Arts teaching. The research was carried out considering undergraduate students doing the first grade on the Design Faculty in a private university, located in the city of Xanxerê (SC). The qualitative research was used as the main tool of investigation, supported by school etnography, which relied on active observation, field diary and documental analysis. The data were collected using the drawings elaborated by the students after each proposal presented by the researcher, as well as photos and notes taken by the researcher and students during the meetings. The results are consistent with the initial expectations, showing the role-played by the drawing in developing the multiple intelligences and presenting the distinct processes taken into account to amplify the personal intelligences, Cinestesic-corporal and spatial.

Peranzoni, Vaneza Cauduro 27 May 2013 (has links)
The overall goal of this PhD thesis was to know the indicators of high ability / giftedness in students of Physical Education, University of Cruz Alta, RS. The higher education institution has a core of support for the student with special needs, providing pedagogic approach to academics. However, this sector had no official statistical data on the existence of students with high ability / gifted. In this sense, the research will contribute to the core collecting information necessary and relevant to its real purpose in seeking answers to many concerns that these students have, on the premise that the real inclusion of students with high ability / gifted only occur when education engage with them. The specific objectives of the thesis aimed to identify indicators of high ability / gifted students in the Physical Education course, describe the characteristics of indicators of high ability / gifted academic in the present, to understand the perception of academics with indicators of high ability / gifted about themselves as individuals in vocational training and contribute to the formation of teachers' degree course in Physical Education from the University of Cruz Alta. The research was conducted with 30 students from the 7th semester of graduation in Physical Education from the University of Cruz Alta, RS - which met a total of 14 students with characteristics of high ability / gifted. The profile of respondents is old people, aged over 21 years. The choice of this course is because of the same work with the psychomotor area and body-kinesthetic, thus allowing to investigate the three types of high ability / giftedness proposed by Renzulli (1986): the academic, the productive, creative and academic and productive and creative. For data collection we used three instruments: an information in order to delineate the social profile of the subjects, a questionnaire with open questions about the academic life of the subjects and their perceptions about the theme and a specific questionnaire for identifying indicators high abilities / giftedness in adults. After applying the questionnaires, the analysis and discussion of the data and came to the following conclusion: among the subjects surveyed, 7 show indicators of high / skills giftedness. This index can be projected onto other universities as well, there is an urgent need for educational policies geared to students with high ability / gifted.

Cardoso, Normaclei Cisneiros dos Santos 22 May 2013 (has links)
Family Health Staff (FHS), the contribution of their graduations related to specific demands from patients and relatives who deal with alcoholism and other drug addictions, besides that, it also aims to know the main difficulties and amenities present in the assistance given to this group by these professionals. It s been produced with qualitative, descriptive and exploratory methodology, having the city Aracaju and its Basic Health Units (BHU) as research universe. Its research group is made of doctors and nurses from the FHS, in a 36 people cross-section for each of these categories, with proportional distribution according to the number of professionals in each BHU. After we had applied and explored a questionnaire, we grouped the meaning cores and its own registry units, identifying three great themes which are divided in complementary subthemes: the organization of the service which meets these people, the way it s shown, the way it s offered and what is effectively used; the user of alcohol and other drugs in its own social group, family and other particular circles; the professional and its given assistance, showing its difficulties and amenities, besides identifying the professional skills to deal with these problems. The analysis of the results identified that only 8,3% of the doctors and 5,5% of the nurses said that they ve already been in touch with this in any kind of collective health specialization, residency and/or internship in mental health; 50% of the doctors and 94,4% of the nurses mentioned a kind of ineffective academic training, according to the unlinked theory when it comes to reality/poor/discriminatory/pharmacological. Based on this, the professionals talked about the lack of skills to work on this reality, from these, 48,6% pointed the main reason for the lack of technical knowledge; associated to the difficulties related to organization and structure like: lack of specialized professionals (44,4%), absence of the public government and its directed politics (31,9%), the long distance of the Psyco Social Attention Centers (PACs) ()36%, lack of efficaciousness (84,7%) and lack of link to the treatment (51,4%). We ve also observed not sufficient consolidated data in the system of information from the health secretariat, may it be because the lack of care directed to this group. Some structural amenities have been pointed as the organization and damage reduction, professional link, group work and free access. Some social aspects have been noticed which turn it difficult to deal with these substances just like professional disqualification, marginalization of the patients, scape from reality, extreme poverty and prejudice. With the completion of this work, came to light the need of an academic formation provided with innovative practices related to this theme, training in frequent service and awareness from the academics, health professionals, managers for the acquisition of technical competence associated to social commitment, besides the reorganization, updating and instrumentalization of health services, like structural health politics focused on these people and professionals which will be able to reach since the Coordinations, BHUs, credentials, PACs, Medical Emergencies, Therapeutic communities and to sum up, the whole society.

How university academics respond to the introduction of new quality policies in South African higher education

Brown, Vanessa Jane Kathleen 24 May 2011 (has links)
This study explores the consequences for a historically black university (HBU) of the South African state’s focus on routine and strategic quality evaluation within a policy framework that views higher education as a lever for social change and economic development. It analyses the changing nature of academic work and probes the motivations and understandings of institutional managers and academics in an attempt to explain their responses to policy requirements. The theory of the Evaluative State is employed to examine the nature and consequences of overzealous responsiveness by a historically black university in transition in South Africa. It suggests that the changing relationship between state and university is characterised by contradictions and ambivalence, a result of the interplay between a strong sense of loyalty to the state on the one hand and a recognition of the failure of the state to recognise and reward achievements valued by the HBU. This study suggests that state steering, through the use of output evaluation and efficiency-directed performance indicators, has resulted in failure to achieve central policy goals of development, equity and social justice. The study is guided by one main research question: How do academics in a historically black South African university in transition engage with and implement internal and external quality assurance processes and policies? The literature review reveals significant gaps in understanding the consequences of the rise of the Evaluative State in higher education. A major limitation has been a lack of focus on higher education systems in developing countries and on the consequences of imposing neo-liberal frameworks upon local realities which require redress to remedy historically constructed economic and social disadvantage. The descriptions of academics and institutional managers that emerge in this study highlight stark differences between the two groups in perceptions of and approaches to quality improvement and university work. Significantly, institutional history, context and mission emerge as strong factors shaping academics’ and managers’ responses to change, factors that have largely been disregarded by state policy which focuses more on output achievement than on input variables. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Education Management and Policy Studies / unrestricted

Domestication of open educational resources by academics in an open distance e-learning institution of South Africa

Mncube, Lancelord Siphamandla 17 August 2022 (has links) (PDF)
The emergence of open educational resources has gained popularity and acceptance in higher education institutions and beyond the basic education sector. This brought a persisting shift in depending on information communication technologies for tuition and research provision. Information technology artifact was not treated in isolation to user perspective. The study established how academics accept, feel, perceive, and what skills, opportunities, challenges exist to hinder the domestication. The study context had no uniform guidelines or tools and policy in place for the domestication of open educational resources. The study adopted the exploratory approach guided by the interpretivism paradigm. The study employed Domestication theory. This study conducted in an heterogenous single case study, which is the open distance e-learning (University of South Africa). That was done for an in-depth investigation by relying on multi-methods for data triangulation such as semi-structured interviews, focus group interviews, document analysis, and actual artifact analysis. The total of participants were 52. The study found that most academics played a role in the domestication of open educational resources besides the minority who were unable. The experience and prior knowledge were found to be a factor hindering the domestication process. Open distance e-learning found to relevant space for open educational resources. Such institutions play a role in the adoption and development of open educational resources and mostly rely in information technology for tuition and research. Information technology infrastructure found to be an enabler and disabler in the domestication process. This study contribution to the world of knowledge is based on the theory and practice. Eight theoretical propositions were suggested. The study further contributed by extension of domestication theory as recommended two additional phases which are non-appropriation and dis-appropriation. The current proposed Domestication theory has five phases. Lastly, the study recommended the actual guidelines for adoption and development of open educational resources. This guideline can be adopted by higher education institutions by infusing them in policy development or for general guidance in actual adoption and developments.

Student Perceptions of Advanced Academic Coursework and Its Impact on College and Career Readiness

Doty, Rachel A. 05 1900 (has links)
Although students have more opportunities than ever before to participate in advanced academic programs while in high school, it is unclear whether this has affected their ability to succeed in college. To determine what impact the students' experiences in Advanced Placement (AP) and dual credit coursework had on their level of college and career readiness (CCR), students were asked to recall what factors influenced their ability to succeed in postsecondary education and describe what information is most beneficial for students as they select their academic pathways. This phenomenological qualitative study gathered data from students that had recently graduated from two high schools in a rapidly growing, suburban school district. Participants in the study reported that the most common benefits from advanced academic programs included more challenging expectations and learning how to navigate the various logistics of postsecondary education. By examining these students' perspectives, the findings from this study may positively influence policy and practice by increasing the likelihood that students are adequately prepared for college and have the ability to succeed at the collegiate level. Continued examination of student experiences in postsecondary education is imperative for improving CCR and may provide more insight into what factors inhibit student success after they graduate. Data collected from a more inclusive sample of participants or perhaps longitudinal data following a cohort through the transition from high school to college could help ensure that educators are able to adequately prepare students for life beyond high school.
