Zdeněk Mlynář a jeho působení na Československé akademii věd / Zdenek Mlynar and his performance at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences

Dufková, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the personality of prominent lawyer and a political scientist Zdenek Mlynar during his tenure at the Institute of State and Law of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Mlynar was one of the leading figures and ideologues of the Prague Spring; in the first half of 1968 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and later he became its secretary. He was also one of the authors of the 'Action Programme' of the Communist Party, precisely of its political part. Nevertheless his ideological development was not straightforward; he started as a devoted ideologue and dogmatist in the 1950s to become a reformer in the second half of the 1960s. And during that whole time period Mlynar had been employed as a scientist at the Academy of Sciences in the field of the legal theory. For the purpose of this thesis was Mlynar's more than twelve-year long tenure at the Academy of Sciences is divided into three periods: a research assistantship between 1957 and 1959, his tenure as a head of the Department of Theory of State and Law between 1960 and 1966 and then the time of his work on the political reform in 1968, with a special attention being paid to the interdisciplinary team "Development of the political system in the socialistic society" which was initiated and...

: quantification, optimisation et profit de l'effet des agents producteurs / Early developments of the concept of mechanical work (late 17th century -early 18th century) : quantification, optimization and profit of the effect of productive agents

Fonteneau, Yannick 27 June 2011 (has links)
Taking the early 19th century concept of mechanical work in theoretical physics (popular among such engineers as Coriolis and Navier) as the point of reference, this essay draws a connection between this concept and similar reasoning occurring at the Royal Academy of Sciences in Paris at the turn of the 18th century, especially evident in the works of Amontons and Parent. The essay then demonstrates how and why this concept begins to develop in this academic environment, and how it is then adopted, enhanced and modified by Pitot Bélidor, Désaguliers, and D. Bernoulli while seemingly ignored by theorists such as D’Alembert. The role of the breakdown of the conceptualisation of machines as static agents seems decisive. What follows is a strong dependence on the concept of mechanical work for its ability to problem solve and in pursuit of economic gain, particularly as pertains to quantification, optimization and the comparative labour productivity of men, animals and machines. The concept’s history suggests a permanent interplay between theoretical mechanics, practical mechanics and productivity, thus indicating that the legitimacy of the concept lies in its ability to represent the work of producing agents. Finally, the essay attempts to recreate in practical terms the reality behind the concepts and problems, showing what they owe to government strategies and what to the practices of engineers.

Kulturanalyse und Kulturarbeit

Koffer, Blanka 24 June 2015 (has links)
Cultural Engineers. Social anthropology at the Academies of Sciences in the GDR and in Czechoslovakia 1972-1990 Mapping two state socialist versions of social anthropology is one of the tasks of this thesis. Providing insight into academia as an example for a state socialist work place the thesis furthermore adresses interdisciplinary discussions about the distribution of power under the conditions of late state socialism. The thesis concentrates on the Academy of Sciences for its prominent role in state socialist research, both in the GDR and in Czechoslovakia. Here, the German Wissenschaftsbereich Kulturgeschichte/Volkskunde with departments in Berlin, Rostock and Dresden, and the Czech Ustav etnografii a folkloristiku with departments in Prague and Brno, are of interest. Comparing the routines and conflicts that evolved after 1972 in these research institutes the thesis analyzes the working conditions of state socialist social anthropology in a non-university setting. Not only was the research of present or past folk cultures part of the work schedule. Another side of the coin was the implementation of cultural and social policies of the Communist Party. The study proves the strength of transnational comparison as a valid method for historiography and the strength of the model of resources as introduced by Mitchell Ash.

Teologický odkaz české moderny v životě a díle Františka Bílka / THE THEOLOGICAL LEGACY OF CZECH MODERNISM IN THE LIFE AND WORK OF FRANTIŠEK BÍLEK

Langer, Marketa January 2018 (has links)
ThDr. Marketa Langer Praha, 2018 THE THEOLOGICAL LEGACY OF CZECH MODERNISM IN THE LIFE AND WORK OF FRANTIŠEK BÍLEK ABSTRACT This thesis looks at the life and work of the artist Frantisek B lek in relation to the theological legacy of Czech Catholic modernism at the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth century over three chapters. Its objective is to answer three questions: Was the artist the mystic he was perceived to be at the time? Can he be termed a modernist? What were his reasons for joining the Czechoslovak Church when it was founded in 1920? The study uses the method of hypotheses which are stated in advance in the questions posed, and then subsequently tested. Another method used is an analysis and comparison of the approach and attitudes of Czech society to the artist during his life. The introductory chapter describes the study's key indicators with a brief description of the issues, and also the form and structure used. Part A looks at the environment during the emergence of modern Europe; in particular the conditions giving rise to the struggle for modernism, the circumstances of the First Vatican Council, the Czech Catholic reform movement and the European modernism movement in relation to the central subject of this thesis, artist Frantisek B lek. Each of the three chapters looks at one...
