Juss (e) Ptychopetalum olacoides Bentham, padronizado em flavonóides totais / Development and stability assay of anticelulitic cosmetic formulations containing the Trichilia catigua Adr. Juss (e) Ptychopetalum olacoides Bentham commercial extract, standardized in total flavonoids

André Rolim Baby 26 July 2005 (has links)
Gynoid hydrolipodystrophy, popularly known as cellulite, is characterized as a dystrophic process that generates structural alterations of skin elements, as: connective tissue modifications, cutaneous microcirculation abnormalities, hypertrophy and hyperplasia of adipocytes and edema. Flavonoids are employed as raw materials in anticellulitic products by their capability to reduce capillary permeability. The objectives established for this research were: (1) development of anticellulitic cosmetic emulsions; (2) analytical method validation for total flavonoids, expressed in rutin, by ultraviolet spectrophotometry; (3) physical, physicochemical and chemical stability assay for the preparations. Anticellulitic cosmetic formulations containing the Trichilia catigua Adr. Juss (and) Ptychopetalum olacoides Bentham commercial extract (Slimbuster® H1), standardized in total flavonoids, expressed in rutin, were developed and their physical, physicochemical and chemical stability was assessed. Flavonoids were quantified within the ultraviolet spectrophotometric method at 361.0 nm as rutin equivalents by comparison with secondary standard rutin (T = 96.1%). Stability assay was conducted in three temperature conditions (5.0 + 0.5; 24 + 2 e 40.0 + 0.5 °C) and the following parameters were analyzed: aspect, color and odor, pH and apparent viscosity values and flavonoid content. Analytical methodology was validated determining linearity, limits of detection and quantification, specificity and interferent assay, recovery and intra and inter-run precision and accuracy. Results from stability evaluation have indicated decrease of flavonoid content inferior than 10% at sunlight exposure (room temperature, 24 + 2 °C) and at 5.0 + 0.5 °C; high temperature (40.0 + 0.5 °C) has reduced the flavonoid content at, approximately, 35%.

Krummenauer, Alex January 2017 (has links)
The development and validation of analytical methods is a required procedure when a non-standard method is used by a testing laboratory. Method validation is also a specific requirement of the ABNT NBR ISO / IEC 17025, which determines the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The purpose of validation is to demonstrate that the analytical method, under the conditions in which it is performed, produces results with the required accuracy. The Corrosion, Protection and Recycling Materials Laboratory (LACOR), at UFRGS, has the X-ray fluorescence metal analysis, accredited by CGCRE / INMETRO, according to ABNT NBR ISO / IEC 17025. The test is performed using Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometry, EDXRF method. This method, however, is not standardized; therefore, it was validated in this research to meet this requirement. The validation was based on the DOQ-CGCRE-08 document and the EURACHEM guide. The method performance calculated in this study for quantitative testing by EDXRF are: selectivity; limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ); linearity and working range; trueness (bias, normalized error, Z-score and comparison with reference method) and precision (repeatability, intermediate precision and reproducibility). In addition, a measurement uncertainty calculation methodology was developed for the EDXRF testing The results obtained in this study demonstrate that the EDXRF method, used in the determination in the chemical analysis of steels, is a validated non-standard method and compatible with the results obtained with the reference methods: Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometry (WDXRF), photometric and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). In addition, WDXRF is a reference method used in many international standards, which describes analysis of steels by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry such ASTM E572 or ASTM E1085. The study developed in this dissertation allowed LACOR to maintain its accreditation in the test of metal by X-ray fluorescence analysis, in the CGCRE / INMETRO audit, this year. Other fruits of this work were the preparation of calibration curves of NITON XL3t GOLDD + spectrometer and complete revision of testing procedure, where this new knowledge about the EDXRF technique was applied. In the future, this work can be used by other researchers to develop studies in other base metals such as copper, aluminum, titanium or nickel, and also in other areas of application such as jewelry, recycling of metallic materials or even for analysis elemental residues retained in ion exchange membranes.

Rosentino Junior, Arnaldo José Pereira 09 July 2010 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Power transformers are essential and a large part of the asset cost structure of the electrical power system. When they present any defect or failure, it will be required high costs to repair or replace them, due their commercial costs and by the capability loss to transmit power during a period of time. Generally, transformer failure can occur as a result of the weakness insulation caused by the electrochemical processes involving the cooling liquid (oil), by vibrations due the electromagnetic forces in normal operation, i.e., steady state, and also by winding deformation as the result of short-circuits. It is expected that a transformer will experience and survive a number of short circuits during its service life. But one such event will cause some slight winding movement, which can gradually increasing and the ability of the transformer to withstand further electromechanical forces will be then reduced. It is therefore very important to check the mechanical condition of transformers periodically, particularly for older units, to provide an early warning of an impending catastrophic failure. Thus a specialist technique is required for the monitoring and assessment of mechanical condition of winding transformer. Despite designers and manufacturers, as well as the operation and maintenance technicians of power supply companies worry about this subject, new methodologies and tools to assess the strength effects as the result of short circuits in transformers are still necessaries. So, this work proposes to know the strength characteristics caused by the radial and axial forces in winding transformers. In this context, it will be presented different strengths that can occur in winding transformer, identifying the principal failures as the result of these stresses. Besides, it will be developed an analytical method to evaluate the forces and stresses in winding three phase transformer under a three phase short circuit. Finally, the analytical method results will be compared with a computer simulation based in time domain using the software FEMM, which applies the finite element method.

Links between galaxy evolution, morphology and internal physical processes / Liens entre l'évolution des galaxies, morphologie et processus physiques internes

Kraljic, Katarina 23 October 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims at making the link between galaxy evolution, morphology and internal physical processes, namely star formation as the outcome of the turbulent multiphase interstellar medium, using the cosmological zoom-in simulations, simulations of isolated and merging galaxies, and the analytic model of star formation. In Chapter 1, I explain the motivation for this thesis and briefly review the necessary background related to galaxy formation and modeling with the use of numerical simulations. I first explore the evolution of the morphology of Milky-Way-mass galaxies in a suite of zoom-in cosmological simulations through the analysis of bars. I analyze the evolution of the fraction of bars with redshift, its dependence on the stellar mass and accretion history of individual galaxies. I show in particular, that the fraction of bars declines with increasing redshift, in agreement with the observations. This work also shows that the obtained results suggest that the bar formation epoch corresponds to the transition between an early "violent" phase of spiral galaxies formation at z > 1, during which they are often disturbed by major mergers or multiple minor mergers as well as violent disk instabilities, and a late "secular" phase at z < 1, when the final morphology is generally stabilized to a disk-dominated structure. This analysis is presented in Chapter 2. Because such cosmological simulations form too many stars too early compared to observed galaxy populations, I shift the focus in Chapter 3 to star formation in a sample of low-redshift galaxy simulations in isolation at parsec and sub-parsec resolution. I study the physical origin of their star formation relations and breaks and show that the surface density threshold for efficient star formation can be related to the typical density for the onset of supersonic turbulence. This result holds in merging galaxies as well, where increased compressive turbulence triggered by compressive tides during the interaction drives the merger to the regime of starbursts. An idealized analytic model for star formation relating the surface density of gas and star formation rate as a function of the presence of supersonic turbulence and the associated structure of the ISM is then presented in Chapter 4. This model predicts a break at low surface densities that is followed by a power-law regime at high densities in different systems in agreement with star formation relations of observed and simulated galaxies. The last part of this thesis is dedicated to the alternative cosmological zoom-in technique Martig et al. 2009 and its implementation in the Adaptive Mesh Refinement code RAMSES. In Chapter 5, I will present the basic features of this technique as well as some of our very first results in the context of smooth cosmological accretion.

Physical and biogeochemical controls on the DMS/P/O cycle in Antarctic sea ice / Contrôles physiques et biogéochimiques sur le cycle du DMS/P/O dans la glace de mer Antarctique

Brabant, Frédéric 14 September 2012 (has links)
<p><p><p>SUMMARY - It has recently been demonstrated that Antarctic sea ice recently demonstrated plays a potentially significant role in the dynamics of climatically significant gases (amongst which dimethylsulphide or DMS) in Polar Regions. This research work has initially focused on the development of a reliable method for the determination of dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) within sea ice, avoiding interferences generated by DMS production within the sample in response to the osmotic shock caused by melting. A sequential determination procedure of DMS, dimethlsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) and DMSO on the same ice sample has been developed and used on a large amount of samples in the present work. Data presented in this research project have been collected in the framework of two integrated sea ice observation programs focused on Antarctic sea ice at different seasons but following a common approach: 1) choice of homogeneous study sites to minimize the impact of spatial variability on the interpretation of the results in a time series perspective and 2) priority given to the characterization of the physicochemical framework (texture, temperature, salinity, snow cover, susceptibility to brine drainage,…) prior to any other study. The study conducted in the framework of the ISPOL experiment (Nov.–Dec. 2004) demonstrated that stratification of the brine inclusions network positively influenced the conversion of DMSP into DMS but decreased fluxes of DMS and DMSP towards the ocean. The ice cover at that time of the year is characterised by a net DMSP loss and generates combined DMS and DMSP fluxes whose values fall in the range of atmospheric DMS flux from sea ice measured in the frame of other studies. The study conducted in the framework of the SIMBA experiment (sept.–oct. 2007) emphasized the importance of atmospheric thermal forcing on the sea ice thermal regime and DMS/P/O dynamics. The surface community of algae produced elevated levels of DMS/P/O in response to thermal, osmotic and potentially radiative stress during periods of atmospheric cooling while the development of an intense brine drainage regime contributed to periodically release the elevated levels of DMS/P/O produced in the sea ice towards the underlying ocean. The ice cover exhibited at that time of the year a net production of DMS/P/O and produced combined DMS and DMSP fluxes more than ten times higher than those observed for summer sea ice. The study conducted on laboratory prepared growing sea ice emphasised the impact of physicochemical processes on the gas signature of growing sea ice and represents a first step towards modelling gas exchanges within sea ice and across its interfaces with the ocean and the atmosphere.<p> / Doctorat en Sciences agronomiques et ingénierie biologique / info:eu-repo/semantics/nonPublished

Oceňování nemovitostí typu rekreačního střediska - Zubří / Real Estate Valuation of the recreation center of Zubří

Nečasová, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
The diploma thesis "Valuation of property type resort" deals with both the development of a comprehensive register of all immovable property, forming part of the accessories and recreational area in “Zubří” and also with the valuation of these assets, which will result in the determination of prices that should be required when its sale. The issue of valuation is not easy and extends into several areas. The first part of this work, the theoretical part, focuses on the definition and clarification of basic terms as from the field of valuation same as the terms of the law and economics. It further, various valuation methods are described in more detail and these are then used in the practical part. At the beginning of the practical part the location of the real estate same as the results of a market analysis and data obtained from the local investigation are described briefly. The results of the valuation are evaluated and analyzed in more detail in the conclusion of the thesis.

Many liquids involve a change in volume when they freeze. For water and some aqueous solutions, the volumetric expansion during solidification may invoke a series of mechanical issues. In automobile industries, the security of tanks installed in vehicles is challenged by the Phase-Change Expansion (PCE) of the freezing liquid in cold conditions. One of the most problematic issues is the expansion of Aqueous Urea Solution (AUS) in the SCR tank of diesel vehicles. As the liquid freezes, interior components may be deformed under the stress or pressure of the expanding AUS, potentially leading to failures of the storage tank. In the product center, a numerical method is of high demand to perform thermo-mechanical analysis to predict the temperature and stress distribution during a liquid solidification process in their tanks. In this work, a bibliographic study is carried out first on the basic knowledge of the ice and AUS. Due to the very limited information on urea solution in the literature, the structure and behaviors of freshwater ice are mainly reviewed. The grain orientation preference at the growth interface of polycrystalline ice provides the evidence of non-isotropic PCE for the solidification problem. A series of mechanical tests have been performed to characterize the basic properties of the solidified AUS at different temperatures. The density evolution is measured using a volume-difference method. Then, both thermal and mechanical analytical studies are performed. The classical thermal Stefan problem is reviewed and a finite-difference scheme is proposed to calculate the interface position and temperature profiles of a spherical solidification model. Mechanically, a similar spherical model is established based on the non-isotropic PCE phenomenon of ice growth. The solutions of stress distribution and liquid pressure evolution are given as a function of the solidification interface position. Finally, an efficient thermo-mechanical FEM is proposed to evaluate the thermal stress, strain, displacement and pressure in solidification problems with highly nonlinear relations. Three particular methods for treating the liquid phase with fixed-grid approaches are introduced. The thermal stress is computed at each integration point by integrating the elasto-viscoplastic constitutive equations with non-isotropic PCE. Then, the boundary value problem is solved using the full Newton-Raphson method. This procedure is implemented into the FE package Abaqus via a UMAT subroutine. The numerical model is validated first for the algorithmic aspect by the analytical solutions, and then for the parametric calibration by a series of benchmark tests. In the end, a realistic study case on a real-size AUS storage tank is introduced. Advantages and limitations of the numerical method in the application are evaluated.
