No. of bitstreams: 1 TeseALV.pdf: 40973633 bytes, checksum: 8603da26922df7a8ff0039e77bd0d868 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-05-25 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (FINEP) / The Construction Industry (CI), regarding the production of single-family housing in Brazil, is still characterized by the use of techniques and technologies that are highly dependent on knowledge and manpower experience. Thus, in most projects involving the construction of single-family housing, there are handcraft features when the building site is understood as a production system. Thus, it is common to observe the pathological manifestations appearance in post-occupational analysis, in addition to non-compliance with deadlines and budgets. In this sense, this thesis suggests that the CI breaks with some technical and cultural paradigms from the use of an industrialized building system, such as Light Steel Frame (LSF) and from the use of assembly lines, focusing the industrialization of singlefamily housing production. This proposal is based on four steps involving theoretical and experimental approaches. The theoretical approaches involved the structuring of a systematic literature review, which were identified gaps in scientific knowledge and the research hypothesis, besides the development of basic theoretical framework, the product definition and production system design. The experimental approach was represented by activities related to computer simulation of the production system and its subsequent optimization. The computer simulation was performed with the ProModel® software where was simulated the production of five hundred housing units from the programming logic of the designed system. Seven scenarios were simulated, with the results of its simulation it was possible to identify the most efficient configuration from optimizing the use of some resources, identified by layout B. In addition, the main results of the simulations show that it is possible to assembly the housing unit designed at 11.14 hours, with a cycle time of 5.56 hours, with the settings of scenario seven. The purpose of this thesis and the results can be considered relevant because promote innovation for both the consumer market and to the academy, since it deals with concepts little used or known in the CI. It also enables greater speed and volume of production, facing the Brazilian housing deficit, with significant quality improvements.

The large number of global players in the market has led the automotive industry chain to incessantly seek improvements in operations management to increase their results and, based on this fact, this paper presents a proposal for integrating the techniques and approaches of Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints through an action research application, aiming at improving the material supply system of welding cells from a chassis frame assembly line. In the first stage were presented the concepts and possibilities of integration of both theories and, from an initial diagnosis of the supply system, changes were proposed in an evolutionary way, in which improvements based on Lean Manufacturing were implemented on each experiment round, culminating in the implementation of improvements based on the Theory of Constraints, integrating both concepts. The final result confirms the efficiency of the integration of these two approaches as a way to improve processes, which contributed to an 89% decrease of the supply cycle times of the studied target cell. This result is better than the result obtained using only one of the techniques, without the need for investments and / or significant expenses.

Reference model for the implementation of new assembly processes in the automotive sector.

Emilio Carlos Baraldi 23 August 2017 (has links)
Currently, there are many studies and publications focused on the planning and development of new products. However, the same is not noted in studies related to the implementation of these new products and their processes in manufacturing area. For this, a consistent reference model is developed for implementation of new assembly processes in the automotive sector. This model contains a description of steps, quality checks, actions and validations required by the product manufactured in the serial production process. The test of consistency and relevance of this methodology occurs through the application of the proposed model, in the development of a process of component assembly in the final assembly. For its evaluation, the indicators of an existing process were compared in two time points: with the process developed using the traditional method, and secondly, with the development and implementation of this same process, using the proposed development method of the production process. This occurred alongside a qualitative evaluation of the reference model through a survey with recognized experts of the automotive environment, thus validating the proposed model.

Identifying specific line balancing criteria for an efficient line balancing software : A case Study

Dhanpal Harinath, Shravan, Siddique, Shakeel January 2018 (has links)
For any business, surviving in a competitive market while maintaining all the operational performance indices up to mark is very crucial. There are several theories and techniques to improve the efficiency of the operational performances. Line balancing is one of those well practiced techniques used daily in most of the industries. Line balancing helps balance the assembly lines with regards to man, machine, takt times, etc. This thesis research was done with Electrolux laundry systems, Ljungby in Sweden. With the varying customer demands the case company was balancing its line manually using basic methods. As a part of lean development schemes, Electrolux Ljungby, wanted to transform the line balancing techniques from manual to a fully automated software. The purpose of this research is to determine the company-specific line balancing criteria which should be considered before performing line balancing. This research furthermore lays out a guideline to follow a smooth transition from the manual system of LB to an automated software by concluding the features the software must handle to perform the LB according to required objectives. A case study approach was utilized to collect all the required data to achieve the results. Using the data collection techniques such as interviews, observations and historical analysis we arrived at the data required to design the guidelines with regards to line balancing software features.  The findings suggest that the desired line balancing constraints which are very important in the multi model single sided straight-line balancing problems are flow of materials, assembly precedence, physical constraints, product demand, bill of materials, restricted processes, man power and desired line balancing objectives. Keeping these constraints into consideration the features which are desired in an onlooking line balancing software are the Integration of data and documents/ maximum control, mixed model and option intelligence and analysis, multiple resources, smart variant management, scenario management, yamazumi chart, constraints and reporting tabs. The findings of this thesis can be used as guidelines by any manufacturing industry while they consider buying a new software which can handle Line balancing problems. This research is one of its kind which talks purely about the constraints and desired features only in a specific line balancing scenario. Practitioners can use this as a base for conducting further research on constraints and features pertaining to it, for different line balancing scenarios.

Conception et déploiement des Systèmes de Production Reconfigurables et Agiles (SPRA) / Design and deployment of Reconfigurable and Agile Manufacturing Systems (RAMS)

Chalfoun, Imad 26 September 2014 (has links)
Industry is, today as it has always been, a cornerstone of the economy for any developed country. Having a strong manufacturing base is very important because it impels and stimulates all the other sectors of the economy. It provides a wide variety of job, which bring higher standards of living to many sectors of society, and builds a strong middle class. Increasing global competition, rapid changes in the marketplace and the need to create stable companies with profitable plants require the implementation of a global approach, taking into account technical, economic, logistic and societal aspects in the design of an innovative manufacturing system. The aim of this dissertation is to contribute to the development of an innovative concept of Reconfigurable and Agile Manufacturing Systems (RAMS) to adapt quickly and effectively to the requirements imposed by markets, customers, technology processes, the environment and society, to ensure that the enterprise is dynamic, competitive and profitable. In this thesis work, the characterization and proposal of a generic model for this new type of manufacturing system have been described using the language of complex systems modeling (SysML: Systems Modeling Language). We have developed a reconfiguration process that represents the approach to follow in the design and implementation of a new configuration. In addition, the operational control of a RAMS has been introduced. Finally, some works developed in this thesis have been partially deployed on an industrial demonstrator within the AIP-PRIMECA Auvergne organisation.
