En lämplig standard för affärsprocesser i ett system / A suitable standard for business processes in a system

Eriksson, Andreas January 2017 (has links)
The Business process management (BPM) market has grown a lot in recent years. To have a good and compatible BPM system (BPMS) the developer of a BPMS should constantly keep their system up to date. There are several different standards in BPM. Within BPM these standards cover different areas. The focus in this report is on the area of notation standards. Some other standards have also been analyzed and discussed. Several standards have been evaluated and one of these has been implemented in a workflow foundation (WF) environment to see how well the standard implements in a system. To select a standard, analysis and discussions have been performed. From this information a list of demands was created to match the existing standards. Business Process Management Notation (BPMN) was the best matching standard and was elected for an implementation in the WF. The conclusion is that BPMN is a standard that should be prioritized within the development of a BPMS. The standard did not map to 100 % in the test in this report. This is because of the limitations of the WF flowchart. To implement BPMN in WF it is necessary to modify separate elements and WF has proven to be hard to customize. To make the BPMS support the whole BPMN the recommendation is to build a separate workflow engine. This way all the elements can be implemented, and full control will be given over the flow in the application. An alternative is to work with an open source workflow engine to get the source code and thereby can modify all the objects.

Porovnání standardů a nástrojů pro modelování a řízení procesů / Evaluation of standards and tools for process modeling

Mareš, Jan January 2009 (has links)
The subject of the presented thesis is process modeling. The process modeling and process management is at present for many companies interesting issue, which is referred to as business process management (BPM). Large numbers of standards and tools have been developed to support business process management. The goal of this study is to compare different standards and tools for process modeling according to the process maturity of the organization, and to recommend a specific tool. The standards and tools are compared by demands selected according to the study of the literature and author's knowledge. At the same time, companies are divided to groups according to their requirements according to process maturity of the company and therefore the requirements for process modeling. Demands for comparison of the standards and tools are used depending on the process maturity of company using the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). For each level of process maturity recommendations of appropriate tools are presented, that could support the efforts of companies to achieve a given maturity level. Subsequently, the evaluation model with demands is used to recommend appropriate tool for a retail company.

BPMS implementation for business process management: a critical analysis.

Carrara, André Ramos 28 April 2011 (has links)
BPMS systems have emerged with the goal of supporting the modus operandi of business process management in organizations. Such systems have many assumptions that involve higher interaction of business in its deployment and operation, supported by technological evolutions that allow drastic reduction of programming and integration with legacy systems, beyond the easy development of indicators and changing business rules. There are few studies that focus on BPMS deployment and evaluation of these factors. This dissertation searched through bibliography and the conduction of a field research to extend the knowledge about the subject. The deployment of a BPMS system was carried out by applying research-action method, allowing interaction and evaluation of the theme according to points considered by literature, as well as the discovery of potential factors to consider. The results obtained reveal that the propositions were not fully confirmed, which points to a possible rift between theory and practice. Similarly, it points to a trend of programming reduction and greater involvement of business users in deployment and operation of such systems.

The effectiveness of these processes is critical to the success of any organization. For this reason, there have been major efforts to develop techniques and tools aimed at the improvement of business processes. One of the results of these efforts are the BPMS ( textit Business Process Management Systems), software that help to define, analyze, and manage business processes. Although there are many BPMS available, current systems only provide support for running a limited set of processes. Notably, BPMS do not allow the execution of flexible processes, restricting its operations to defined processes. In addition, they do not provide a collaborative environment for process modeling. This paper presents a software architecture for management of business processes that overcomes these limitations of current BPMS. The architecture was used to implement a software tool called Sinfonia which includes a metamodel for business processes, a process execution engine and a graphical process modeler. The innovative aspects of the proposals of this work include features such as support for defining and implementing flexible processes, such as empirical and textit adhoc processes, and support for modeling collaborative processes. Sinfonia has enough expressive power to define and implement key business process standards described in the literature. The ability of this tool to express flexible processes and to promote collaboration in the modeling of business processes were evaluated in an experiment involving fourteen participants. The results of this experiment provide evidence that Sinfonia contributes to the evolution of BPMS.

Context: Multi-level Autonomic Business Process (MABUP) approach is an option to manage autonomic business processes, it is considers aspects such as to variability, understandability, scalability and Non-Functional Requirements. However, we have identified several limitations for the adoption of MABUP approach. Among then, the need for a supporting tool, that allows not only the modeling of the business process with autonomic characteristics, but also its execution. Objective: Hence, in this dissertation we propose the development of MABUPTool tool, from the extension of Activiti framework, in order to assist in the adoption and understanding of MABUP approach. Method: After the tool development, some experiments were conducted to assess both the adoption of the MABUP approach and its supporting tool. The results indicate that the adoption extended elements enhances the understanding of MABUP approach. Conclusions: To assess the quality of the tool, a usability evaluation was performed and the results shows that all four factors analyzed (overall satisfaction, system utility, quality of information and interface quality) were successfully achieved.

Sandėliavimo proceso tobulinimas AB „Kauno Baltija“ / Improving warehousing process AB „Kauno Baltija“

Živatkauskas, Tomas 20 March 2009 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Warehouse processes are analyzed in this bachelor thesis in order to solve the main problem – how to reduce the quantity of faults that arise during the warehouse process. The purpose of this study is to research the reasons of warehousing process inefficiency and to find the solutions for improving warehouse management. The study is based on manufacturing company JSC “Kauno Baltija” which is one of the largest garment exporters in Lithuania. This study is divided into three main parts. Firstly, the sewing market tendencies and key-success factors were analyzed as well as the weaknesses and strengths of the company identified. First part of this study also summarizes the main theoretical arguments, which show that process management has big influence on overall organizational performance and may be the powerful tool for gaining the competitive advantage through low costs, flexibility and quality. The second part of this bachelor thesis consists of empirical research of AB “Kauno Baltija” warehouse process. Qualitative method of empirical research was chosen, because this is the best way to analyze process in its natural environment. In order to gain data of empirical research several tools were used – observation, the analysis of company documents, informal interview with workers, analysis of nonfiction and unscientific literature. The qualitative empirical research of AB “Kauno Baltija” warehouse processes showed that the basic problems causing inefficiency of all... [to full text]

Přístupy k transformaci popisu procesů do BPEL / Approaches to transformation of process description to BPEL

Císař, Daniel January 2009 (has links)
In this work, I dealt with the field of Business Process Managent and Service Oriented Architecture. First I tried a comprehensive conceptual view of both through the definition of important principles. In BPM as a disciline I identified "life-cycle" as the most important principle for process optimization tools. For service-oriented architecture, I had to reduce the view to important principles related to composition of services. An important starting point in my work are the definitions of processes and services and their roles in BPM systems. It is a simplified view that helps connect modeled processes to Web services. Web services and orchestration is the most popular and most common usage of the service-oriented architecture. Composition is another important building block of SOA and is the basis for more realistic goals of SOA, such as greater enterprise agility, more efficient utilization of resources in the enterprise, etc. BPM discipline combines multiple elements and as it is typicaly multidisciplinary it combines process management and optimization through tools. These tools historically perform their roles well, but companies are now in a very competitive linked environment and must to behave differently. In my work I have stated firstly why would these areas could be beneficial to each other. The next part focused, what is the relationship with the life-cycle process for BPM and how it fits into the life-cycle services in SOA. Finally, I analyzed the current state mapping of BPMN, the most common notation for expressing processes in BPM, to BPEL. BPEL describes a process, but it is expressed as a programmatic sequential process, which is also executed in digital form. At work I have examined the role of the new version of the BPMN notation 2.0.
