Integrating Trust and Computer Self-Efficacy into the Technology Acceptance Model: Their Impact on Customers' Use of Banking Information Systems in Jamaica

In recent times, there has been a rapid increase in technological initiatives to promote electronic commerce. Delivery of services via the Internet or other remote computing technology now represents the trend for most organizations. In keeping with market trends, the banking industry in Jamaica and other countries worldwide have also adapted a variety of technological initiatives to enhance the delivery of services to remote customers. As these trends continue, there is heightened interest in information systems (IS) research to understand the factors that motivate or encourage individuals to use these technologies. This situation exists because interactions in these environments are significantly different from the traditional face to face settings. The original Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has long been studied, modified, and extended by IS researchers as a classical model for understanding individual's intention to use (IU) an IS. According to TAM, IU an IS is based on two constructs: perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU). Researchers have identified other factors such as trust (TRST) and computer self-efficacy (CSE) that impact an individual's IU an IS. In this predictive study, the researcher examined the integration of TRST and CSE into TAM and their overall impact on customers' intentions to use banking information systems (BIS) in Jamaica. A 32-item Web-based survey instrument was used to collect data from 374 customers of three major banks in Jamaica. A revised TAM model was proposed and SPSS's AMOS 7.0 statistical package was used to perform data analysis and model fit testing based on structural equation modeling (SEM). Results showed that while CSE did not significantly predict TRST and PEOU, it significantly predicted PU. Additionally, TRST significantly predicted both PEOU and PU, and PEOU positively predicted PU and attitude (ATT) towards BIS. Furthermore, PU was a significant predictor of ATT and IU, and ATT significantly impacted IU. The findings also revealed that only TRST varied significantly across males and females and the original TAM had a slightly better fit than the revised TAM. The research laid the foundation for future exploratory studies of TAM in specialized contexts such as BIS in Jamaica.

I will focus on usage of information systems in banks generally and I will analyze and evaluate the implementation of banking information system BankUp. I will identify the main problem points and propose some actions to be helpful in the future. I will try to find a new potential of connection of BankUp with Internet Banking and system Customer Relationship Management.

No / Prior work on the technology acceptance model (TAM) is mainly devoted to the influence of TAM’s core motivational factors and their impact on behavioral intent toward IS acceptance. Relatively little research has focused on what specific system design characteristics motivate individuals toward IS acceptance. This article identified specific systems design factors and examined their impact on TAM’s motivational factors through the TAM. The findings will help designers to design and implement better user-accepted systems.

Banking systems in India is quite popular and it needs some more changes to reach all the customers. Lack of the service is main problem in Indian baking system. If the common person wants to open the account, it take’s little bit high cost and banks are not near the people location. Due to the Lack of service, people do not want to be a customer of the bank. In the research trying to find the solutions for some of the problems to maintain a banking account, we want to provide the maximum time of service in banking systems and to find the better solution for the common persons to use the banking systems. The research idea Collaboration banking information systems are designed to combine all the account information into a system, to provide a better solution for the customer, and to solve all the internal problems in the banking systems. From this new concept we could establish the bank in each and every village, So that we could reach all the customers by providing them a good quality service and exceeding their expectations. The Collaboration systems are less time consuming and it reduces the burden of both the customers and bank employees. Some banks failed due to the lack of customers and the over burden of interest charged by the government.The research idea is to share all the account details from all the banks into a system that is known as collaboration banking information systems. 系統建構時,提供一個領域模型,對特定領域做分析被視為能成功提昇軟體再使用的重要因素,再利用物件導向〞繼承〞的特性,將重覆出現的物件屬性及操作程序設為通用,可提昇軟體的再用性。另外藉由物件導向中〞類別化〞與〞封包〞的特性,其所呈現之資訊隱藏與抽象化之概念,將使所建立的領域模型更為明顯易懂。 而近幾年來,隨著銀行新業務的開放及激烈的競爭環境,銀行的資訊系統需求不斷增加。面臨著新業務的開發整合、經營管理技援系統的建立、及作業流程的改進等強烈需求,以傳統程序導向方法建立的銀行資訊系統即遭遇到軟體難以再使用與維護的困境。 本研究主要採用個案研究的方法,將一套現有銀行存款作業交易系統中的主要功能部份,以軟體再工程程序中反向工程的技術,依循本研究所提出之物件導向領域架構規格,經由轉化及精製,設計一個銀行存款款資訊系統領域模型。再經前向工程技術,產生一個物件導向銀行資訊系統雛型,以做為對此領域模型之實作及測試。由於存放款交易是每家銀行的基本業務,作業流程亦十分相似,在本研究中建立的領域模型可做為建立銀行資訊系統之參考,以此領域模型發展改良的系統將可有效的提昇程式再使用與維護的品質,對於銀行資訊系統不斷增加與變化的需求相信可提供一解決方案。 / Along with the recent deregulation trend in the banking industry at Taiwan, new requirements for Banking Information Systems are increasing. The systems developed using traditional procedure-based paradigm become a burden in terms of maintainability and reusability. When upgrading the existing application systems, although some of the domain concepts are reused, the generated software systems often include discrete repetitive pieces of code for the same function in the systems. Object-oriented programming is often touted as promoting software reuse. The inheritance and polymorphism characteristics in the object-oriented paradigm keep the generic attributes and operations in the parent level and remove their repetition from the child level. In this article, we present an object-oriented approach to develop domain models. Using a case study approach, we build an object-oriented domain model for the deposit and loan transaction systems in a bank based on the current system functionalities. The domain model which restructures the application semantics would hopefully reduce the redundancy and inconsistency in the new systems. Since the deposit and loan transactions air basic activities in the any bank, the domain semantics are very similar among banks under the same regulatory system at Taiwan. The domain model developed in this case study can be used as a core structure reference for local banking transaction systems.

The theme of the master’s dissertation: “The development of methods for automating the verification of bank customers”. The master’s dissertation is made on 96 pages and contains 6 tables, 19 figures, 62 used sources. The relevance of the topic is due to the growing importance of tools for collecting and processing customer information in the life of the organization, especially providing financial services. The purpose of the dissertation is to study the current structure of the analysis of customer data in the enterprise and the creation optimal automated model of work with data in order to improve the quality and efficiency of the enterprise. Work tasks: • to study the types and features of customer verification systems and methods: • consider the structure and activities of the enterprise in question; • create an automated model of the customer data analysis process in the bank; • to evaluate the economic efficiency of creating a new business process model. The object of research – is the banking system of customer verification. The subject of research – is the process of automation of customer verification in the formation of credit applications in the bank, all the human and information resources involved in this process. The first chapter defines the types of existing systems and methods for checking customer information. The analysis of the possibilities of using the studied methods is carried out. The second chapter is devoted to the study of methods of automation of the bank’s customer verification processes. Data analysis and decision-making system are considered. The third chapter analyzes the current activities of the bank and put forward proposals for the automation of processes based on the identified problems, assesses the effectiveness of the proposed methods and analyze the feasibility of their application. Work results: the practical result of the work was an automated model of client data verification for “SKB-Bank”, which allows to make the process of loan processing faster more efficient. / Тема магистерской диссертации: «Разработка методов автоматизации проверки банковских клиентов». Магистерская диссертация выполнена на 96 страницах, содержит 6 таблиц, 19 рисунков, 62 использованных источника. Актуальность темы обусловлена растущей значимостью наличия инструментов сбора и обработки клиентской информации в жизнедеятельности организации, особенно предоставляющей финансовые услуги. Целью работы является исследование текущей структуры анализа клиентских данных на предприятии и создание оптимальной автоматизированной модели работы с данными с целью повышения качества и эффективности работы предприятия. Задачи работы: • изучить виды и особенности систем и методов проверки клиентов; • рассмотреть структуру и деятельность рассматриваемого предприятия; • создать автоматизированную модель процесса анализа клиентских данных в Банке; • оценить экономическую эффективность создания новой модели бизнес-процесса. Объект исследования – банковская система проверки клиентов. Предмет исследования – процесс автоматизации проверки клиентов при формировании кредитных заявок в Банке, все участвующие в данном процессе человеческие и информационные ресурсы. В первой главе определяются виды существующих систем и методов проверки информации о клиентах. Проведен анализ возможностей использования изученных методов. Вторая глава посвящена исследованию методов автоматизации процессов проверки клиентов Банка. Рассматриваются системы анализа данных и принятия решения. В третье главе проводится анализ текущей деятельности Банка и выдвигаются предложения по автоматизации процессов на основе выявленных проблем, проведена оценка эффективности предложенных методов и анализ целесообразности их применения. Результаты работы: практическим результатом работы стала автоматизированная модель проверки клиентских данных для ПАО «СКБ-Банк», позволяющая сделать процесс оформления кредитов более быстрым и эффективным.
