Bokhandeln : En studie om lönsamheten i en enskild bokhandelNilsson, Ida, Henrysson, Amanda January 2012 (has links)
Abstract Running an individual bookstore is not an easy task. And then to do it in a profitable way is even harder. In this study you will read about what matters to the profitability in a bookstore. There are several aspects of this but it may be of interest to know what is affecting most of a bookstore's profitability. These three theories were researched by examination of previous research. The theories were then compared to the empirical research of an individual bookstore. Developing the empirical research qualitative and quantitative data collection methods was used. Further on the analysis compared the theories to the empirical research. The results of the comparison were recommendations to the individual bookstore, and an expansion of a previous theoretical model. The development was named "the bookstore square" which emphasizes the price and assortment materiality in a bookstore and the influencing factors as customers and competitors. This modification makes the model more adaptive to an individual bookstore.

Prismedvetna studenter - traditionella bokhandelns fall?Wahlström, Magnus, Kroon, Magnus January 2008 (has links)

For Joy and Profit : a comparative study in selection of fiction literature in bookshops and libraries concerning factors as the market, demand and qualityEdsbagge, Hanna, Sved, Linnéa January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate how purchasingmanagers in bookshops and public librarians reason withregards to their selection of fiction literature. Nineinterviews have been conducted in this qualitative studymade in the spring of 2013; four librarians, four bookmerchants, as well as a market director of a major chain ofbookstores. Our focus has been particularly directed toascertaining what influence the cultural-political mission oflibraries have had on the process of selection, as well as theextent to which factors such as demand and quality play apart in both organizations. We have been interested inseeing how libraries and bookstores compare with regards tothese factors, because of obvious differences in their goalsand purposes. Librarians see both the benefits and flaws intheir way of working, as well as in the way in whichbookstores conduct their business, and vice versa, that theyare often successful in cooperating, like when arrangingvisits from authors etc. Bibliotekstjänst, purchasesuggestions from users, the librarians own proposals are thesources for the libraries’ selection. The decisions are madewith respect to quality, content and public value. The userinfluence have increased, and the users’ satisfaction factor ishighly important. The book merchants were sometimescontrolled from the head offices in their selection, but hadthe freedom of buying books from local authors, and thecustomers demand also had an influence. They have incommon that their selection is highly influenced by themedia. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Bokbloggen i de litterära kretsloppen : En litteratursociologisk analysWalls, Russell January 2011 (has links)
This thesis explores the position of book blogs in the literary system through Robert Escarpit's socio-literary model of the book market. Simultaneously the thesis serves as a test for Escarpit's theory: by actively applying his theory and model to a very new and contemporary actor on the book market I hoped to reach or confirm new insights into the usefulness and validity of Escarpit's work for contemporary socio-literary studies. Three book blogs were selected for the analysis and interviews were carried out with the authors. The interview questions were formulated specifically for the purpose of extracting the kind of information necessary for an analysis using Escarpit‟s theory. As a complement to the interviews, statistics on the type of books reviewed on the blogs were also compiled. Together, both the interviews and the statistics led me to the conclusion that the book blogs could fairly easily be placed into the cultivated literary circuit in Escarpit's model; however there was also a possibility that the blogs could be a blockade-breaker in his model depending on certain factors. Regarding Escarpit's theory as a whole, the analysis illuminated an important issue: Escarpit's model of the book market presupposes that literature has a certain societal value, however it appears that this presumption is problematic because literature's status in society has changed. At the same time it was also revealed that Escarpit's concept of closed "literary circuits" in which books circulate is still current and very applicable to today's book market. As a result I do not discount Escarpit's theory altogether, but rather endorse moving forward from Escarpit's original book market model to the Danish literary sociologist Hans Hertel's revised and further developed version of it. / P6

Jämförelse mellan Joomla och React.js utifrån svarstid på en bokhandel webbsida / Comparison between Joomla and React.js based on response time on a bookstore websiteAhmed, Abukar January 2021 (has links)

1600-talets urvalsprocesser för tryckta verk : Produktion och distribution av böcker och dissertationer i Stockholm och Uppsala / Processes of Selection for Printed Works during the 17th Century : Production and Distribution of Books and Dissertations in Stockholm and UppsalaHenriksson, Emma January 2010 (has links)
<p>During the 17th century the production and distribution of printed works increased in Stockholm and Uppsala. However, all works that the publisher wanted to print, did not reach the reader. This thesis aimed to show when, where and how printed books and dissertations did not reach the reader. To achieve this aim, aspects of several well known models showing systems of book production and distribution were combined and adapted to suit Swedish conditions in the 17th century. This combined model focused on processes of selection and was presented and used as a theoretical approach. Processes of selection in this paper are processes in which often a conscious choice was made of which books people produced and distributed. By using literature that had already been written about the chosen subject the paper examines what this material tells us about processes of selection during the selected period. Six processes of selection have been identified and discussed, three belonging to the production of works and three belonging to the distribution of works. During the production publishers’ motives and conditions for publishing and how this affected what they chose and did not choose to publish were discussed. Publishers with economical motives might publish fewer books which contained new ideas as reprinting popular books probably resulted in a higher profit. If a publisher wanted to use the publishing of a book as a way to further his career that probably could lead to fewer books containing offensive material being published. The state of the printing material and the economy of the printer and publisher were things that could affect which books that were printed. Books that came to Stockholm and Uppsala from other countries could be lost while being transported. The increase and decrease of the book collection at the university library in Uppsala affected the reader’s range of books to choose from. This is a two years master’s thesis in library and information science.</p>
