ESTRESSE, COPING E SÍNDROME DE BURNOUT EM POLICIAIS RODOVIÁRIOS FEDERAIS.

The profession of the Federal Highway Police is considered one of the most stressful professions. It is a profession of risk by the nature of their functions, which are faced with in their daily practice, in extreme situations, where the emotional resources are put on test. These situations raise the level of stress and when not addressed adequately may lead to burnout. The present study aims to contribute to a deeper knowledge of these professionals, in order to evaluate the perception of job stress, which coping strategies that people adopt to minimize this stress in order not to reach burnout. This is a field study, descriptive, exploratory quantitative approach. The research involved the identification and characterization of the subjects from a questionnaire as well as the application of socio-demographic form. The study population was composed of the Federal Highway Police Central region of Rio Grande do Sul. The results obtained from statistical analysis were 73.08 % in high stress and low stress at 26.92 % , the most used strategies were problem solving and indicative of burnout syndrome in this population was 3.84% . Thus , it is understood that the importance of this work lies in the fact that with your participation will be helping to spread awareness about this job category , which could result in better working conditions and respect for health. / A profissão de Policial Rodoviário Federal é considerada uma das profissões de maior estresse. Trata-se de uma profissão de risco pela natureza de suas funções, onde são confrontadas na sua prática diária, com situações limite, onde os recursos emocionais são postos a prova. Estas situações elevam o nível de estresse e quando não enfrentadas de forma adequada podem levar ao Burnout. O presente estudo tem como propósito contribuir para um conhecimento mais aprofundado destes profissionais, com o intuito de avaliar a percepção de estresse no trabalho, quais as estratégias de enfrentamento que esta população adota para minimizar este estresse a fim de não atingirem o burnout. Trata-se de um estudo de campo, descritivo, exploratório com abordagem quantitativa. A pesquisa consistiu na identificação e caracterização dos sujeitos a partir de um questionário, bem como da aplicação do Formulário sócio demográfico. A população do estudo foi composta por Policiais Rodoviários Federais da região Central do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os resultados obtidos através da análise estatística foram de 73,08% em alto estresse e 26,92% em baixo estresse, as estratégias mais utilizadas foram à resolução de problemas e os indicativos da Síndrome de Burnout nesta população foram de 3,84%. Deste modo, entende-se que a importância deste trabalho está no fato de que com a sua participação estarão contribuindo para difundir o conhecimento acerca desta categoria profissional, o que poderá acarretar em melhores condições de trabalho e respeito à saúde.

Methodological and descriptive survey,conducted in 2015, following the steps: situational diagnosis; survey content; selection and book report content; textual construction; creation of illustrations; typesetting of the manual; content validation with consulting experts; semantic validation with consultation to the target audience; adequacy of manual; spell check and Portuguese. Study participants in content validation; even experts and the semantic validation seven professors from the sixth to the ninth grade of elementary school from a public school of the city of Diamantina. Among the experts there was minimal concordance of 85.7% in items: language, illustration, layout, motivation and culture. A fact also confirmed by validation with the target audience. The overall content Validity index of the booklet was 0,94. We hope that the theoretical teaching manual, considered valid by experts and representatives of the target audience, be used by education professionals and that allows the discussion of occupational health in its class, providing better understanding, prevention and control of the syndrome.

This dissertation is based on a theoretical and empirical synthesis. It offers a theoretical discussion of the burnout syndrome and its influences on surroundings, while the empirical part is performed through questionnaire research, where 69 respondents took part mainly from the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The primary aim of this investigation is to illuminate attitudes of students regarding their readiness to face the burnout syndrome in school conditions and to collect information in regards to their reaction to this situation. The evaluated data, gained through the use of open questions, is represented in the charts. It investigates the advantages and disadvantages that the students feel before the start of their career and which can affect their career growth; or their way to failure. It is apparent from the results that the theoretical knowledge of the problematic issues are on a very good level. Most students believe, that they are well aware of what the burnout syndrome is about and that in case of it happening, they would know how to deal with it and where to look for help.

Basic theoretical background: The background of elaboration of this thesis was the fact that the perception of the occupation of a nurse has also changed remarkably with the requirements of the developing society. The present labour market mainly demands erudite, qualified general nurses that are able to work flexibly and independently under various conditions, to educate themselves independently, and to absorb new experience. The introduction of the theoretical part deals with more detailed identification of nurses' work and focuses on the individual attributes affecting nurses' work, like education, job contents and competences. One of the chapters also focuses on the personality traits necessary for the job of a nurse and on the organisation of work at internal medicine departments. The second part of the theoretical work then analyses the main determinants of the work. The aims of the thesis, questions and hypotheses: Three aims were set to meet the main purpose of the thesis. Aim 1: To identify the main determinants of the work of general nurses at internal wards. Aim 2: To map satisfaction among nurses from internal wards of the South Bohemia Region. Aim 3: To map the burnout syndrome among nurses from internal wards of the South Bohemia Region. Four research questions were asked in the qualitative research part to achieve the aims. RQ 1: What are the work determinants most often mentioned by the nurses? RQ 2: Are nurses satisfied with their work conditions? RQ 3: What motivating elements have the nurses experienced during their practice? RQ 4: How are nurses informed of the burnout syndrome phenomenon? Five hypotheses were consequently set for the quantitative research. H1: Nurses with tertiary education identify poor organization structure as the most important determinant of their work more than those without tertiary education. H2: Nurses with tertiary education perceive lifelong education as a motivating element for improvement of nursing care quality more than those without tertiary education. H3: Nurses with 10-year or shorter experience in internal medicine express the feeling of satisfaction with their work more than nurses with longer than 10-year experience in internal fields. H4: Nurses with 10-year or shorter experience in internal medicine express satisfaction with their working conditions more than nurses with longer than 10-year experience in internal fields. H5: Nurses with longer than 10-year experience have more experience with the burnout syndrome occurrence than nurses with 10-year or shorter experience. Methodology: Both the qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques were used in this thesis. The results for the first phase of the empiric research were obtained by means of semi-structured interviews led with twelve general nurses working at internal medicine specialized departments of four hospitals of the South Bohemia Region (České Budějovice, Tábor, Prachatice, Jindřichův Hradec). The results of the research were consequently analysed and categorized. The second part of the empiric research contains the results of the quantitative research based on data obtained by an anonymous questionnaire designed for general nurses working at internal medicine specialized departments of hospitals of the South Bohemia Region (České Budějovice, Tábor, Prachatice, Jindřichův Hradec, Písek, Strakonice, Český Krumlov). The obtained data were then classified, described and processed first by descriptive statistics into graphs by means of Microsoft Office Excel 2010 and statistical evaluation of the hypotheses was consequently performed. The hypotheses were tested by the chi-square test in a contingency table. The chosen significance level was 5 %.

It is followed by the analysis of various principles of the International Code of Ethics. This analysis was based on the scientific literature of social work and the articles published in the Czech Republic. Subsequently, for each principle the results of the research among social workers in the South Region were processed. They reveal how social workers perceive the different principles. The analysis is concluded with a brief insight into the ethical theories.

This diploma thesis deals with the occurrence of the syndrome of burnout in nurses. The main objectives of this work is to determine the incidence of burnout among nurses in selected hospital wards and selected hospitals. In the theoretical part of the thesis is described the profession of nurses, burnout and the possibilities of its prevention. In the practical part I describe the goals, objectives, hypotheses and methodology of my work. Research investigation, implement it through a standardized questionnaire, the Maslach Burnout Inverters, which is designed for the monitoring of the burnout syndrome in the exposed occupations in the hospital in České Budějovice, Písek and Strakonice. The data obtained evaluating the statistical method of chi square test, which I will verify pre-established hypotheses of work. The obtained results are evaluated and interpreted.

This diploma thesis deals with the theme: Self-reflection of students of schools with the health and social fields of study with respect to the selected field of study. The main objective of the diploma thesis was to find out how the students' view of the chosen field has been changing in the course of study. The theoretical part contains the definition and explanation of terms related to the researched topic. Qualitative methodology was chosen for the research part of thesis. Data were collected using the technique of semi-structured interview. The interviews focused on what influences contributed to the choice of field, whether any differences in the view of the chosen field and the studied issues appeared, and possible reflection of these changes. The research group consisted of ten female students of the "University of South Bohemia in Czech Budejovice", field of study "Rehabilitation - psychosocial care for disabled children, adults and seniors" in the continuing Master's program. The resulting data were analyzed through a process of open coding. It resulted from the research that the motive for selecting the field of study was primarily a desire to help and work with people and interest in problems. Selected field did not meet the expectations of the communication partners, and the majority of them regret their decision in choosing the field of study. The reason is mainly the unsuitable structure of subjects and low salaries in the profession. The advantage of field of study is gaining useful information and competence development. Completing the practical experience is evaluated as positive. A significant part of the communication partners do not feel ready for performance of the profession. Communication partners often changed their attitude to health and social issues in the negative direction. They most often changed their opinion on Roma people. Children and the senior citizens are the most popular target groups. On the contrary, the homeless persons and the Roma people are the least popular. During the study, the communication partners are aware of their shortcomings and risks associated with the profession. All are worried about the "burnout syndrome". Most of the communication partners currently believe that they will be good workers. The obtained results can help enrich the theoretical knowledge of self-reflection of students with regard to the chosen field of study.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Estudo de caso, com o objetivo de desenvolver um programa de enfrentamento da Síndrome de Burnout e avaliar os seus efeitos no comportamento de 7 participantes do sexo feminino, com idade variável entre 27 a 48 anos, que atuam como professores no processo de inclusão educacional e social de alunos da Rede Pública, em uma instituição de ensino localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Trata-se de modalidade de investigação que envolve procedimentos de pesquisa-ação. Para fins de coleta de dados foram utilizados instrumentos de medida psicométrica como o CBP-R, Questionário de Burnout para Professores ? Revisado (CBP-R; Moreno, Garrosa E González, 2000) como também o Inventário de Sintomas de Stress para Adultos de Lipp ? ISSL (LIPP, 2000), além de um inventário sóciodemográfico. Como complementação do trabalho de pesquisa, foi empregada a análise de relatos verbais para fins de levantamento de dados relativos aos processos privados dos participantes. A aplicação de um programa de enfrentamento da Síndrome de Burnout consistiu de técnicas e de procedimentos fundados na abordagem cognitivo-comportamental e da adoção de práticas de relaxamento e de manejo de tempo. Os resultados da pesquisa evidenciaram um relativo decréscimo quanto a incidência de sintomas de stress e Burnout nas participantes. De posse desses resultados, poderão ser articuladas ações em políticas públicas com vistas à melhoria da saúde e das condições gerais de trabalho do professor da Rede Pública. O que se propõe como meta é humanizar o posto de trabalho docente, sob os aspectos de saúde, bem-estar físico e mental. / This is a case study aimed at developing a program to management Burnout Syndrome and assess its effects on the behavior of seven female participants, ages 36 to 60, who work as teachers in the process of educational and social inclusion of public school students in Rio de Janeiro. The study will use an investigation technique consisting of action research procedures. To collect data, were used psychometric tools and a Socio-demographic Inventory. In addition to the research, the study used verbal reports analysis as a source of data regarding the participants private processes. The program aiming to fight Burnout Syndrome consisted of techniques and procedures based on cognitive behavioral psychology, relaxation techniques and time management practices. The results point to a certain decrease in the incidence of stress and Burnout Syndrome. These results can lead to new public policies to improve health and the general working conditions to which the public teachers are exposed. The goal is to humanize the role of the teacher with regard to health and physical and mental well-being.

ESTRESSE E SÍNDROME DE BURNOUT EM DISCENTES DE ENFERMAGEM / STRESS AND BURNOUT SYNDROME IN NURSING STUDENTS

Understanding the academic training as a pre-professional activity can be considered that college students live with stressors related to the profession and the academic environment. Thus, if students do not opt for effective strategies to cope with the wear, the permanence of stressors can lead to chronicity of stress and in the long term, the Burnout Syndrome. This study aims to determine the association between level of stress and Burnout Syndrome in nursing students from three universities. It is part of a project entitled Stress, Coping, Burnout, and Depressive Symptoms in Hardiness Learners and Teachers of Nursing, registered and approved with the Research Ethics Committee under nº 0380.0.243.000-10. It is an analytical, cross-sectional and quantitative research carried out from a database constructed with data from 571 nursing students from three institutions of higher education in Brazil, two in the Southeast region (one public and one private) and one in the region South (public). Data were collected and partially analyzed in 2011 and 2012, through the form for socio-demographic and academic characteristics of students, the Instrument for Assessing Stress in Nursing Students and the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey. To test the hypothesis of this study, the chi-square analysis will be performed. P values <0.05 were considered statistically significant, with a confidence interval of 95%. Observed the predominance of female students (84.21%), aged between 20 and 24 years (47.37%), single (74.43%), no children (81.09%) and reside with family (75.61%). Regarding the level of stress there was 55.40% of students in middle stress level and 24.74% indicative for Burnout Syndrome. In the association between level of stress and the occurrence of Burnout Syndrome showed statistically significant difference (p = 0.0380). On the association between stress levels in the areas and Burnout there is a significant statistical difference in the areas Professional Communication (p = 0.0297), and Activity Theory (p = 0.0434). The interaction with the stressors of training can lead to occurrence of burnout. Also we identified students in average level of stress without burnout, which may suggest that these students use strategies to minimize the stressors and thus avoid the syndrome. / Ao compreender a formação acadêmica como atividade pré-profissional pode-se considerar que os estudantes universitários convivem com estressores relacionados à profissão e ao ambiente acadêmico. Assim, se os acadêmicos não optarem por estratégias efetivas para enfrentar o desgaste, a permanência dos estressores pode levar a cronificação do estresse e, em longo prazo, à Síndrome de Burnout. Esse estudo tem como objetivo verificar a associação entre nível de estresse e a Síndrome de Burnout nos acadêmicos de enfermagem de três universidades brasileiras. É parte de um projeto intitulado Estresse, Coping, Burnout, Sintomas Depressivos e Hardiness em Discentes e Docentes de Enfermagem, registrado e aprovado junto Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa sob nº 0380.0.243.000-10. Trata-se de uma pesquisa analítica, transversal e quantitativa, realizada a partir de um banco construído com dados de 571 acadêmicos de enfermagem de três Instituições de Ensino Superior do Brasil, duas da região Sudeste (uma pública e uma privada) e uma da região Sul (pública). Os dados foram coletados e parcialmente analisados em 2011 e 2012, por meio do formulário para caracterização sociodemográfica e acadêmica dos discentes, do Instrumento para Avaliação de Estresse em Estudantes de Enfermagem e do Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey. Para testar a hipótese deste estudo, foi realizada a análise de qui-quadrado. Valores de p<0,05 foram considerados estatisticamente significantes, com intervalo de confiança de 95%. Observou-se o predomínio de discentes do sexo feminino (84,21%), na faixa etária entre 20 e 24 anos (47,37%), solteiros (74,43%), sem filhos (81,09%) e que residem com a família (75,61%). Quanto ao nível de estresse verificou-se 55,40% dos estudantes em médio nível de estresse e 24,74% com indicativo para a Síndrome de Burnout. Na associação entre nível de Estresse e a ocorrência da Síndrome de Burnout observa-se diferença estatisticamente significativa (p=0,0380). Na associação entre níveis de estresse nos domínios do AEEE e Burnout verifica-se diferença significativamente estatística nos domínios Comunicação Profissional (p=0,0297) e Atividade Teórica (p=0,0434). O convívio com os estressores da formação pode levar a ocorrência de Burnout. Também identificou-se estudantes em médio nível de estresse sem Burnout, o que pode sugerir que estes estudantes utilizam estratégias de modo a minimizar os estressores e assim, evitar a síndrome.
