We focus in the demonstrations that took place in the House of the Divine, a place that won the title after Maria Julio Cesarino Xavier have housed inside the image representation of the Holy Spirit, a dove with outstretched wings, engraved on a piece of wood that you would find in a river . Thus, these manifestations are present in this city since 1882 prevailed until today. This paper discusses the relationships that men and women have established with the sacred through festive events in praise of the Divine and identify the position of local ecclesiastical authorities in relation to these practices developed by these faithful. Therefore, we use local newspapers as sources, festival programs and the owner of the tipping process (House of the Divine). The research found its theoretical foundations in Roger Chartier, Michel de Certeau, Pierre Bourdieu, Michel Vovelle and MirceaEliade / Esta dissertação focaliza as práticas religiosas, realizadas em Ponta Grossa/PR, para homenagear o Divino Espírito Santo. Focamos nas manifestações ocorridas na Casa do Divino, local que ganhou esse título após Maria JulioCesarino Xavier ter abrigado em seu interior a imagem da representação do Divino Espírito Santo, uma pomba de asas abertas, gravada em um pedaço de madeira que encontrará em um rio. Assim, essas manifestações estão presentes nessa cidade desde 1882 prevalecendo até os dias de hoje. Objetivamos discutir as relações que homens e mulheres estabeleceram com o sagrado por meio de manifestações festivas em louvor ao Divino e identificar o posicionamento das autoridades eclesiásticas locais em relação a essas práticas desenvolvidas por esses féis. Para tanto, utilizamos como fontes periódicos locais, programas dos festejos e o processo de tombamento do imóvel (Casa do Divino). A pesquisa encontrou seus alicerces teóricos em Roger Chartier, Michel de Certeau, Pierre Bourdieu, Michel Vovelle e MirceaEliade.

Em um recorte temporal longo, que vai do século XVIII aos dias atuais, foram examinadas a religiosidade católica e a religiosidade umbandista no âmbito prescrito e praticado, assim como as suas práticas, rituais e o entreolhar dos fiéis e sacerdotes de ambas as religiões envolvidas. As evidências rituais umbandistas no Cruzeiro Religioso e sua relação com algumas das práticas do catolicismo popular foram analisadas por meio de trabalho de campo que envolveu fotografias e entrevistas com fiéis católicos e umbandistas. / This master’s degree dissertation aims to make a historical and socio-anthropological analysis of the Religious Cross from their first indications in the “Caminho Novo”, in the proximities of the Town of Santo Antônio do Paraybuna, the contemporary city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. In a long tempory period, which goes from the XVIII century until the current days, the Catholic and the Umbanda religiosities were examined in the prescribed and practiced scope, as well as their practices, rituals and the followers and priests’ exchanging glances involved in these religions. The Umbanda’s rituals evidence in the Religious Cross and its relationship with some of popular Catholicism were analyzed though field study that dealt pictures and interviews with Catholics and Umbanda followers.

Recently foreign and Lithuanian scientists have increased consideration on issues of religion and religiosity. It is admitted the importance to take care of the fact that society under influence of globalization would not lose elements of national and traditional culture and religion would remain significant in public life, especially of young people, and would be influent in social, political and cultural spheres of both traditional and modern society (Ratzinger, Balthasar, Rahner, 2008; Libiszowska-Žoltkowska, 2007; Kreeft, 2011; Ricouer, 2001; Girnius, 2011; Kuzmickas, 2003; Jovaiša, 2009; Aramavičiūtė, 1998; Tijūnėlienė, 2000; etc.). / Žmonijos kultūros istorija yra sukaupusi gana daug empirinių ir teorinių šaltinių, liudijančių, kad religija yra reiškinys, neatskiriamas nuo žmogaus egzistencijos prasmės, jo gyvenimo perspektyvos. Globaliosios kultūros atsiradimas ir jos plėtra susipriešina ir su tautos tradiciniu tikėjimu, gyvenimo būdu bei tradicinėmis vertybėmis. Tai ypač ryšku šiandieninėje Lietuvoje, kuri, tapusi Europos Sąjungos nare (2004), sparčiai įsitvirtindama Vakarų Europoje ir pasaulyje, tampa atvira ne tik savo politiniais, ekonominiais, sociokultūriniais ir kt. laimėjimais, bet darosi atvira ir globalizacijos lemiamoms sparčiai plintančioms problemoms, kurios susietos su religinėmis, dvasinėmis-moralinėmis vertybėmis.

Žmonijos kultūros istorija yra sukaupusi gana daug empirinių ir teorinių šaltinių, liudijančių, kad religija yra reiškinys, neatskiriamas nuo žmogaus egzistencijos prasmės, jo gyvenimo perspektyvos. Tą patvirtina Šventasis Raštas, iškilūs religijos atstovai, daugelis žymių visų epochų įvairių sričių pasaulio mokslininkų (Tomas Akvinietis, Jonas Paulius II, S. Kierkegaardas, 2011; Frommas, 1992; Jungas, 1998; Franklis, 2007; Maceina, 1990; Šalkauskis, 1990; Kuzmickas, 2003; Jovaiša, 2002; Aramavičiūtė, 1998; Tijūnėlienė, 2009; ir kt.). Tačiau šiandienos pasaulyje sparčiai vykstantys globalizacijos procesai devalvuoja religijos vaidmenį asmens, visuomenės gyvenime.
