Socialt arbete online? : En studie om för- och nackdelar medelevkurativa samtal online samt vad socionomutbildningen genererar för kunskap om fenomenet

Karlsson, Mathilda, Olander, Johan January 2013 (has links)
This study is about how school counselors in Kalmar County view the need for a pupil curative work online, what they believe are ethical aspects to be considered in social work online and if they feel they have sufficient training to conduct pupil curative conversations online. The aim has been to make contact with universities in Sweden to see if they have elements of social work education that lectures a social work online. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with school counselors in Kalmar County. The majority of the interviewed school counselors lacked the knowledge and experience of a student curative work online but some had discussed this phenomenon at work. One counselor worked daily with a pupil curative work online. The intention of interviewing universities to investigate whether there are elements of social work education that addresses a social work online defaulted unfortunately because they choose not to participate in the study. The main conclusion of our study is that school counselors consider themselves lacking sufficient knowledge to conduct pupil curative conversations online. All of the interviewed councilors wanted more knowledge about and discussion on the phenomenon. School counselors showed a slight ambivalence to a pupil curative work online, while many felt that they should meet young people where they were, in this case on the internet, they still advocated that personal interaction face to face is superior to internet curative work.

Health professionals’ perceptions of the curative factors needed in the treatment of sexual offenders

Procter, Jenna-Lee January 2014 (has links)
Magister Psychologiae - MPsych / The high statistics of rape in South Africa and the increasing percentage of sexual offenders in correctional services beseech urgent intervention with this population. Very little is known about the clinical reasoning that informs the planning of treatments for sexual offenders by the health professionals that work with them. In particular, research is needed on what health professionals perceive to be the curative factors in the treatment of sexual offenders. This study explores and describes health professionals’ views on the treatment of sexual offenders. The research is qualitative and exploratory in nature. The sample size consisted of seven health professionals including five social workers and two clinical psychologists who work or have worked specifically with sexual crimes. Permission to conduct the study was obtained from the Senate Research Committee of UWC (Ethics Clearance and Project Registration Number: 13/4/20) and all principles of ethics e.g. voluntary participation, confidentiality, anonymity and informed consent, were upheld. Data was collected through in-depth individual interviews. Interviews were transcribed and analysed by two researchers using thematic analysis. Data collection and analysis took place in parallel until saturation was reached. Trustworthiness of the findings was achieved through inter-rater comparison, respondent validation, debriefing and reflexivity. Findings revealed that sexual offender treatment needs to account for the heterogeneity of the population and that treatment providers need providers need to be open and flexible. Treating clinicians must also be prepared to draw on a range of theories to meet the unique needs of each offender. Several curative factors were identified by the participants, including comprehensive assessment, mentoring and supervision on multiple levels, admission of guilt by the sexual offenders, psycho-education and skills training, strong therapeutic alliance, as well as intervention for sexual offender's past / own victimization.

O Fedro de Platão à luz da tríade de Estesícoro / The Phaedrus of Plato in the light of the triad of Stesichorus

Campos, Rogerio Gimenes de 21 March 2012 (has links)
This thesis aims to present an alternative reading of Plato\'s Phaedrus. Its main focus is to review the general scheme of the dialogue and its textual blocks, into account the relevance and importance of formal and thematic aspects of the poetic doxography from Stesichorus of Himera in the reading of Plato\'s Phaedrus considered, especially in these regards: triadic structure of his poetry, the theme of the idol as a substitute for the being and the curative power of the chant. In this way we can recognized the stesichoric triadic design in the three initials recitations of platonic dialogue, means by which this work will conduct a study of these blocks of text, highlighting the differences between poetry, logographic, rhetoric and dialectic.

Beslut om övergången från kurativ till palliativ vård : Sjuksköterskors upplevelser och erfarenheter / Decision about transition from curative to palliative care     : Nurses’ experiences

Ekström, Lina, Hansson, Frida January 2010 (has links)
This may make it difficult for medical personnel to set the limit for when the transition from curative to palliative care should be performed in institutional care. The purpose of the study was to describe the nurses’ experiences when a decision would be taken on when the patient went from curative to palliative care. In this study fifteen scientific articles were reviewed and analyzed. Four headlines emerged from the result: <em>involvement, point in time, education/experience and feelings</em>. One thing nurses had in common was that they thought that their opinion did not matter for the doctors about the transition from curative to palliative care, even though they spent more time with the patient and had a holistic point of view on the situation. The point in time was important in regards to when the decision was made and when the curative treatment was brought to an end. One difference between nurses was their experience and how secure they felt within their occupation. The nurses felt that it was difficult when there were not straight directives on how the treatment should be carried out. To be more secure in their jobs as nurses, there should be a higher level of education introduced throughout all of the health and medical care fields and there should be more research done about the patient’s experiences in their situation.</p>

Hope and Despair : Philosophy of life, expectations and optimism in cancer patients and their spouses

Winterling, Jeanette January 2007 (has links)
<p>The general aim was to explore philosophy of life, expectations and optimism in patients and spouses in two different cancer situations, and to determine whether these aspects had relevance for psychological distress and quality of life. The first situation was being newly diagnosed with advanced cancer. Data on philosophy of life, optimism and psychological distress were gathered on one occasion (I). In addition, changes in life were described using a qualitative approach in a sub-sample (II). The second situation was having completed curative cancer treatment. Data on expectations for the recovery period, optimism, psychological distress and quality of life were gathered on three occasions (III). Moreover, expectations and how these turned out were described using a qualitative approach in a sub-sample (IV). The results show that being diagnosed with an advanced cancer influenced aspects of patients’ and spouses’ philosophy of life, including that existential questions were common and were related to higher psychological distress (I). All experienced substantial mental changes in life, often also physical, practical and sometimes positive changes. Patients more often seemed to accept their situation and prepared themselves for death, whereas spouses had more difficulties in handling the situation (II). Patients who had completed curative treatment generally had higher expectations for the recovery period than did their spouses, and patients expectations were fulfilled to a lesser degree, however, this generally had little importance for psychological distress or quality of life (III). Patients’ expectation for their recovery period was generally that they would get well. For those whose recovery period had been tough, expectations were often unfulfilled, but they were often satisfied with their current life anyway owing to positive changes (IV). Being optimistic was the most beneficial for decreased psychological distress in both samples, as well as for better quality of life in the recovery group (I, III).</p>
