Grafisk representation av ljud

Lebram, Mikael January 2004 (has links)

Ola, Magnusson January 2009 (has links)
<p> </p><p><strong><p>Abstract</p></strong></p><p>The main purpose of the essay is to describe the reception of Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s debut novel</p><p> </p><p><em>One day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich </em>(1962) in Swedish newspapers. The reception itself comprises the 1963’s Swedish reviewers opinions on the novel as to how it was controversial or not and the literary quality of the novel and Solzhenitsyn’s writing. In the analysis, seventeen reviews from seventeen different newspapers is included, studied and compared. All of these reviews were written one year after the original release of the book, i.e. in 1962. The analysis will also include five other articles from five different Swedish newspapers, not about <em>One Day</em>, but rather about the Swedish view of the Soviet Union Solzjenitsyn lived in and loathed. The reason I included those articles was because they were written just a few months before the reviews, which makes them interesting when interpreting the image of the novels controversial content, something that could differ very much between the Soviet and the Swedish point of view.</p>

Interactive data mapping for industrial energy management / Oswald van Ginkel

Van Ginkel, Oswald January 2012 (has links)
Data maps serve the purpose of visually representing information. They are especially useful for allowing people to grasp complex data structures. An interactive data map adds the functionality of people and systems being able to interact with the data through the use of the data map. This interaction may include navigation through parts of data structures or physically manipulating the underlying data. In this study the feasibility of utilising an interactive data map implemented for the purpose of energy management in industries, such as gold mining and cement manufacturing, is taken under consideration. The interactive data map forms part of a complete energy management system that entails automated data capturing, control systems data aggregation, automated reporting and online interactive data presentation. A software component, which is developed for the purpose of illustrating the use of such a data map, will serve as the main line of discussion. Various requirements from the current state of a airs are identi ed in the literature study. These are utilised as the basis of the speci cations against which the interactive data map, as an e cient software tool for control, communication and policy compliance, is validated and veri ed. / Thesis (MIng (Computer and Electronic Engineering))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013

Essays on Forecasting and Hedging Models in the Oil Market and Causality Analysis in the Korean Stock Market

Choi, Hankyeung 2012 August 1900 (has links)
In this dissertation, three related issues concerning empirical time series models for energy financial markets and the stock market were investigated. The purpose of this dissertation was to analyze the interdependence of price movements, focusing on the forecasting models for crude oil prices and the hedging models for gasoline prices, and to study the change in the contemporaneous causal relationship between investors' activities and stock price movements in the Korean stock market. In the first essay, the nature of forecasting crude oil prices based on financial data for the oil and oil product market is examined. As crack spread and oil-related Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) have enabled more consumers and investors to gain access to the crude oil and petroleum products markets, I investigated whether crack spread and oil ETFs were good predictors of oil prices and attempted to determine whether crack spread or oil ETFs were better at explaining oil price movements. In the second essay, the effectiveness of diverse hedging models for the unleaded gasoline price is examined using futures and ETFs. I calculated the optimal hedge ratios for gasoline futures and gasoline ETF utilizing several advanced econometric models and then compared their hedging performances. In the third essay, the contemporaneous causal relationship between multiple players' activities and stock price movements in the Korean stock market was investigated using the framework of a DAG model. The causal impacts of three players' activities in regard to stock return and stock price volatility are examined, concentrating on foreign investor activities. Within this framework, two Korean stock markets, the KSE and KOSDAQ markets, are analyzed and compared. Recognizing the global financial crisis of 2008, the change in casual relationships was examined in terms of pre- and post-break periods. In conclusion, when a multivariate econometric model is developed for multi-markets and multi-players, it is necessary to consider a number of attributes on data relations, including cointegration, causal relationship, time-varying correlation and variance, and multivariate non-normality. This dissertation employs several econometric models to specify these characteristics. This approach will be useful in further studies of the information transmission mechanism among multi-markets or multi-players.

Bringing Light into the Heart of Darkness? : A study of United Nations Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld's role as a mediator during the Congo crisis 1960-1961

Larsson, Mats January 2017 (has links)

Larsson, Michel, Alexandersson, Kirill January 2013 (has links)
This is a study of the ex-dividend day. The study covers six years (2007-2012) and studies the shares included in the OMXS30 on the Stockholm stock exchange. OMXS30 is a share index of the 30 most actively traded stocks on the exchange. The study comprised a total of 145 observations. The purpose of this study is to investigate if the stock price on the ex-dividend day unfolds as the efficient market hypothesis teach or if there exists room for speculation, and thus earn a return higher than the market. The ex-dividend day effect has been studied previously, both on the Swedish market but also abroad. The results of previous researchers are different but they all have one thing in common, namely that there is a certain ex-dividend day effect. When calculating the ex-dividend day effect, the stock prices had to be adjusted for the normal return that occurs during the ex-dividend day. The normal return is not something that is universally known, but must be estimated by the author. In this study, it was estimated using the OMXS30 index movements relative to each company's beta. After that price drop ratio is calculated. The authors found that the share price on average fell by about 90 % of the dividend amount, with the possibility of an excess return of approximately 0.37 %. This was according to statistical tests significantly different from one, indicating that the ex-dividend day effect exists. By studying each year the authors found significant discrepancies between the years that cannot be explained, the authors themselves could conclude that the price drop ratio exists in symbiosis with the current economic situation.
