Writing Memory : global Chinese Literature in Polyglossia / Ecrire la mémoire : littérature chinoise globale en polyglossie / Scrivere di memorie : letteratura cinese globale in poliglossia

Codeluppi, Martina 06 July 2018 (has links)
This thesis aims to investigate the representation of fictional memories in the context of global Chinese literature, showing how displacement and translingualism affect the works by authors from the Mainland and from overseas, who express their creativity in different languages. The four novels Zha gen (Striking Root) by Han Dong, Balzac et la petite tailleuse chinoise (Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress) by Dai Sijie, The Crazed by Ha Jin, and Rou zhi tu (Beijing Coma) by Ma Jian are compared as reflections of individual memories of the Cultural Revolution and of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests. The first part of the thesis addresses the new theoretical approaches configuring contemporary Chinese literature as a polyglossic and deterritorialised entity. The second part focuses on the analysis of two examples of autofictions, Zha gen and Balzac et la Petite Tailleuse chinoise, comparing their representation of time as reflected in the evolution of the individual. The third part explores the two novels The Crazed and Rou zhi tu, focusing on the spatial character of memory transposed in the form of a fictional témoignage. Finally, the fourth part investigates the interactions between Chinese literature and world literature, placing the cases analysed in a translingual perspective. The comparison between the Chinese, the English and the French versions of the novels shows how deterritorialised memories are modulated through translation and self-translation.

A resource monitoring and parallel application cooperative scheduling environment on computing grids.

Mathias Santos de Brito 09 February 2009 (has links)
Grid Computing have the goal of providing means to share resources to be used by applications that need these resources. Discussions on Dai-Freed Anomalies

Li, Huaiyu January 2019 (has links)
In both field theories of high energy physics and field theories of condensed matter theories anomalies have been imposing constraints and bringing up new theories. While the perturbational and local anomalies from triangle diagrams are well-developed, we follow and review two works leading to non-perturbational global anomalies both related with Atiyah-Patogi-Sieger (APS) index theorem. In the context of topological fieldtheories the APS index theorem imposes an η-invariant which adds a global anomalous e−iπη/2 to the path integral from each fermions on the boundary. In the case of Pin+ (4) this will require a multiple of 16 Majorana fermions for the global anomaly to cancel. On the other hand with Dai-Freed theorem, global ’t Hooft anomalies concerned to G symmetry group on 4-dimensional spin manifold which is also classifying space BG are studied. The existence of anomalies are related to the triviality of spin bordismgroup Ω Spin5(BG), where examples with SU(2), GSM and Zn are studied with Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence method and representation of Z n rings. Further there are extensions of spin groups from Pin, SpinZ4 and Spinc , where the anomaly cancellationconstraint of 16 fermions per generation from Spin Z 4 (4) is related to that of Pin + (4) in topological superconductor. A possible candidate of Z4 charge named B − L charge or X charge from several commutative breaking patterns of Spin(10) GUT is briefly discussed with Pati-Salam model and R ⊗ C ⊗ H ⊗ O.

Further Development of an Audio Analyzer / Vidareutveckling av en audioanalysator

Klevhamre, Benny, Nilsson, Peter January 2002 (has links)
Arbetet avbröts p.g.a. slutdatum. This part has later been programmed into a PLD device on a circuit board used for audio tests on mobile telephones at Flextronics. The application converts data, making it possible to send information between the telephone and different measuring instruments. The application consists of two older applications. One of them has been fully implemented. What is left in the other part is to find the cause why it is sending wrong data as unwanted noise. Integrated water management concept for craft villages - example from the food processing craft village Dai Lam / Đề án quản lý nước tích hợp cho làng nghề - Thí dụ từ làng nghề chế biến thực phẩm Đại Lâm

Hahn, Celia, Meier, Sebastian, Weichgrebe, Dirk, Tran, Thi Nguyet, Appel, Holger, Fechter, Leonhard, Werner, Peter 09 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Craft villages played a significant role in the development of Vietnam’s rural economy for a long time. The range of products and production methods, including the processing of materials and chemicals, are now adapted to modern market requirements but environmental and labour protection issues are not adequately considered in the management of the craft villages. The reasons are various: poor education of responsible operators, deficient technical equipment or missing regulatory framework and implementation of existing regulations. The INHAND project (Integrated Water Management Concept for Craft Villages) started in 2011 and is studying the food processing village of Dai Lam located on the banks of the Cau River in the Bac Ninh province (about 40 km NE of the capital Hanoi). The household-scale business focus mainly on rice and cassava processing with 200 out of 1000 households producing alcohol from cassava and rice, 10 households producing tofu, and 30 households recycling aluminium. In addition, most households also raise pigs. The wastewater is released mostly untreated into the receiving stream. Within the framework of the INHAND project, four German und two Vietnamese partners will conduct a basic analysis inventory in the village with identification of suitable measure for an integrated, environmentally sound concept for the removal and reuse of all output streams. The second major task of the 3.5 years research project is the conceptualisation, development and implementation of pilot-scale treatment facilities in the village and the scientific monitoring of their planning and operation.

A Phonological Reconstruction of Proto-Hlai

Norquest, Peter Kristian January 2007 (has links)
This dissertation presents a reconstruction of the phoneme inventory of Proto-Hlai, based on data from twelve Hlai languages spoken on Hainan, China. A classification of the Hlai languages is given with the innovations upon which it based, followed by a discussion of contact relationships and a discussion of reconstruction methodology. The inventory of Proto-Hlai initials is reconstructed, and original sesquisyllabic forms are shown to be necessary to account for the reflexes between the daughter languages; the initial inventory is also marked by the presence of aspiration on most consonants in word-initial position. This is followed by the reconstruction of the rime inventory, an outstanding features of which is two laryngeal components which are argued to have been the precursors to two of the synchronic tone categories in the daughter languages, and which conditioned segmental variation in most of the daughter languages. A comparison is made between Proto-Hlai, Proto-Be, and Proto-Southwest Tai, and a preliminary reconstruction of Proto-Southern Kra-Dai (the immediate ancestor of Proto-Hlai) is performed. When this reconstruction is compared with that of Proto-Hlai, it is shown that several important sound changes occurred in Pre-Hlai, including intervocalic obstruent lenition, vocalic transfer, aspiration of word-initial consonants, and peripheral vowel raising. The language Jiamao is examined in detail, and it is argued that Jiamao is a non-Hlai language which has been in close contact with Hlai since the Pre-Hlai period. An examination of the correspondences between Jiamao and Hlai reveal at least two layers of Hlai loanwords in Jiamao, and evidence Jiamao was originally very different from Hlai structurally. Finally, the Proto-Hlai lexicon is compared with those of other Southeast Asian language phyla, and it is shown that Hlai retains evidence of shared lexicon (via either a genetic or contact relationship) with Sino-Tibetan, Mon-Khmer, Hmong-Mien, and Austronesian, the last of which is particularly striking. The dissertation concludes with a summary of findings, empirical and theoretical contributions, and suggestions for future research.

Legendary Patriot or Corrupt Egotist? An Analysis of Tōyama Mitsuru Through an Interpretation of Dai Saigō Ikun

Siuda, Peter T 01 January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
The objective of this thesis is to reveal that, despite the nigh-messianic image Tōyama Mitsuru (1855-1944) had among rightists and militarists for his staunch expansionist beliefs during the Taishō period (1912-1926), he was a rather inconsequential, boorish figure who had little impact on Japan’s political or economic spheres. Like Saigō Takamori (1828-1877), Tōyama also wished to see Japan colonize East Asia and gain military strength comparable to any Western nation; it was this type of thinking that Tōyama would promulgate in order to gain popularity and influence, and many of his contemporaries would thus view him as a disciple of Saigō’s teachings. However, it is my belief that Saigō and Tōyama differed greatly in terms of character and respectability, as Saigō gained influence through steadfast devotion to his superiors and teaching others of maintaining moral integrity, whereas Tōyama opted to use violence as a means of expressing his own opinions. The difference between the two men will become more apparent as I carefully analyze and interpret ten key points in Dai Saigō Ikun (“The Great Saigō’s Dying Instructions”), which best exemplify the opinions and thoughts of both Saigō Takamori and Tōyama Mitsuru, as Saigō’s Ikun and Tōyama’s subsequent criticisms were seen by many to perfectly represent the core ideologies of what both men believed in. Comparisons will be made from the intonations of both the points and their accompanying criticisms, and it will become evident that Tōyama’s personality differed considerably from Saigō’s in terms of directness and reservation (or lack thereof). I will examine the backgrounds of both men as well as that of Saiga Hiroyoshi (1891-1947), who contributed as publisher of the Dai Saigō Ikun and was himself a follower of Saigō’s beliefs. By examining his words and analyzing the conduct he displayed throughout his life, my thesis will disprove the illusion of Tōyama Mitsuru’s philanthropy and will show that, despite the abundance of books published that portray him as a selfless hero and how popular he became among right-wing advocates, he was an unsophisticated individual whose crude behavior served only to fuel the propaganda of Japanese militarism through justifying Japan’s colonization efforts into East Asia, which ultimately proved to be his sole goal in life.
