Tramando na rede: o Diário de Classe / Plotting the network: the Diário de Classe.Raquel Silva Barros 29 September 2014 (has links)
The study presents an analysis of the wires/ blanks that are traced in the work out of the fanpage Diário de Classe: a verdade, created by teen Isadora Faber. The page, which became headlines in different media channels, shows deletions about the precarious situation of some installations that Maria Tomázia Coelho, located in Florianopolis in Santa Catarina, presented. Thus, the objective of this study is to investigate how this page became a fenomenous on the Internet by the publications made. For the research we based on the interview given by the author of the page, online published reports and an analysis of the fanpages body. The paper presents notes that initially shows how the new Information and Communication Technologies are introduced in our lives and especially at school, treating the subject as an expression that has been treated as an idea of the impact, however. The approach wire/ node and empty/hole were worked out in order to establish a parallel between the terms and delineate our study methodology, then. In a third step, the post-massive and massive terms of communication were treated in this study as a way of understanding what it would configure its features and a relationship that the first establishes with the second. The considerations of the study, then, indicates other holes and that will be set by the reader of this text, however.

Objectives: To determine the identification of sentinel lymph node (SLN) in breast cancer after intraoperative injection of Dextran 500‐99mTechnetium (Tc) and blue dye. To analyze if the doses of the radioisotope, body mass index (BMI) and breast volume influence the migration time of the SLN. Methodology: Prospective study between april 2008 and june 2009, which included 74 biopsies of SLN in patients with breast cancer in stages T1N0 and T2N0. Intraoperative injection after induction of general anesthesia, 0.5 to 1.5 mCi of dextran 500‐99m‐Tc filtered 0.22 μm in the subareolar region in a volume of 5 ml and 2 ml of blue dye. Results: We identified the SLN in 100% of cases. In one case (1.35%) the SLN was marked only with the blue dye. The SLN identification rate with the probe was 98% (73/74 cases). The mean dose of radioisotope injected was 0.97 + 0.22 mCi. The average time to mark the SLN was 10.7 minutes (+ 5.7 min). We identified an average 1.66 SLN with the radioisotope. The dose had no effect on the time to capture (p = 0.73). The larger breast volume and BMI, the greater the capture time in the axillary region (Pearson Correlation r=0.393 p <0.01, r=0.469 p <0.01 - respectively). Conclusion: Intraoperative injection of the radioisotope is effective for the identification the SLN in breast cancer. Time to mark the SLN is higher in patients with high BMI and large breasts. Higher doses of radioisotope do not decrease the migration time.

January 2018 (has links)
The aim of the first study was to compare sonographic and sonoelastographic features between 50 neoplastic and 69 non-neoplastic lymph nodes of dogs, categorized according to microscopy. We hypothesize that sonography and sonoelastography allow the differentiation between neoplastic and non-neoplastic lymph node lesions. Quantitative variables were compared using Student’s unpaired t test and categoric variables were assessed using non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. Neoplastic nodes had larger size, and short-to-long axis, predominantly mixed vascular flow distribution (hilar and peripheral) on Color Doppler and on Power Doppler, higher resistivity and pulsatility indices, and higher stiffness (score predominantly 4) on elastographic chromatic scale in comparison with non-neoplastic lymph nodes. The aim of the second study was to describe sonographic and elastosonographic features of 25 canine lymph nodes parasitized with Leishmania spp. We hypothesize that sonography and sonoelastography allow standardization of lymph nodes with Leishmania spp. There was enlargement of the lymph nodes associated with maintenance of the shape. Most of the nodes had irregular contour, well-defined borders and absent hilar tissue definition. A minority of the nodes had heterogeneous uniformity due to focal hypoechoic areas or peripheric hypoechoic areas. Vascular flow dist... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Doutor

Impacts of Transportation Investment on Real Property Values: An Analysis with Spatial Hedonic Price ModelsJanuary 2016 (has links)
abstract: Transportation infrastructure in urban areas has significant impacts on socio-economic activities, land use, and real property values. This dissertation proposes a more comprehensive theory of the positive and negative relationships between property values and transportation investments that distinguishes different effects by mode (rail vs. road), by network component (nodes vs. links), and by distance from them. It hypothesizes that transportation investment generates improvement in accessibility that accrue only to the nodes such as highway exits and light rail stations. Simultaneously, it tests the hypothesis that both transport nodes and links emanate short-distance negative nuisance effects due to disamenities such as traffic and noise. It also tests the hypothesis that nodes of both modes generate a net effect combining accessibility and disamenities. For highways, the configuration at grade or above/below ground is also tested. In addition, this dissertation hypothesizes that the condition of road pavement may have an impact on residential property values adjacent to the road segments. As pavement condition improves, value of properties adjacent to a road are hypothesized to increase as well. A multiple-distance-bands approach is used to capture distance decay of amenities and disamenities from nodes and links; and pavement condition index (PCI) is used to test the relationship between road condition and residential property values. The hypotheses are tested using spatial hedonic models that are specific to each of residential and commercial property market. Results confirm that proximity to transport nodes are associated positively with both residential and commercial property values. As a function of distance from highway exits and light rail transit (LRT) stations, the distance-band coefficients form a conventional distance decay curve. However, contrary to our hypotheses, no net effect is evident. The accessibility effect for highway exits extends farther than for LRT stations in residential model as expected. The highway configuration effect on residential home values confirms that below-grade highways have relatively positive impacts on nearby houses compared to those at ground level or above. Lastly, results for the relationship between pavement condition and residential home values show that there is no significant effect between them.
Some differences in the effect of infrastructure on property values emerge between residential and commercial markets. In the commercial models, the accessibility effect for highway exits extends less than for LRT stations. Though coefficients for short distances (within 300m) from highways and LRT links were expected to be negative in both residential and commercial models, only commercial models show a significant negative relationship. Different effects by mode, network component, and distance on commercial submarkets (i.e., industrial, office, retail and service properties) are tested as well and the results vary based on types of submarket.
Consequently, findings of three individual paper confirm that transportation investments mostly have significant impacts on real-estate properties either in a positive or negative direction in accordance with the transport mode, network component, and distance, though effects for some conditions (e.g., proximity to links of highway and light rail, and pavement quality) do not significantly change home values. Results can be used for city authorities and planners for funding mechanisms of transport infrastructure or validity of investments as well as private developers for maximizing development profits or for locating developments. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Geography 2016

TiCTak: Target-Specific Centrality Manipulation on Large NetworksJanuary 2016 (has links)
abstract: Measuring node centrality is a critical common denominator behind many important graph mining tasks. While the existing literature offers a wealth of different node centrality measures, it remains a daunting task on how to intervene the node centrality in a desired way. In this thesis, we study the problem of minimizing the centrality of one or more target nodes by edge operation. The heart of the proposed method is an accurate and efficient algorithm to estimate the impact of edge deletion on the spectrum of the underlying network, based on the observation that the edge deletion is essentially a local, sparse perturbation to the original network. Extensive experiments are conducted on a diverse set of real networks to demonstrate the effectiveness, efficiency and scalability of our approach. In particular, it is average of 260.95%, in terms of minimizing eigen-centrality, better than the standard matrix-perturbation based algorithm, with lower time complexity. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Computer Science 2016

Voltage Instability Analysis Using P-V or Q-V AnalysisJanuary 2017 (has links)
abstract: In the recent past, due to regulatory hurdles and the inability to expand transmission systems, the bulk power system is increasingly being operated close to its limits. Among the various phenomenon encountered, static voltage stability has received increased attention among electric utilities. One approach to investigate static voltage stability is to run a set of power flow simulations and derive the voltage stability limit based on the analysis of power flow results. Power flow problems are formulated as a set of nonlinear algebraic equations usually solved by iterative methods. The most commonly used method is the Newton-Raphson method. However, at the static voltage stability limit, the Jacobian becomes singular. Hence, the power flow solution may fail to converge close to the true limit.
To carefully examine the limitations of conventional power flow software packages in determining voltage stability limits, two lines of research are pursued in this study. The first line of the research is to investigate the capability of different power flow solution techniques, such as conventional power flow and non-iterative power flow techniques to obtain the voltage collapse point. The software packages used in this study include Newton-based methods contained in PSSE, PSLF, PSAT, PowerWorld, VSAT and a non-iterative technique known as the holomorphic embedding method (HEM).
The second line is to investigate the impact of the available control options and solution parameter settings that can be utilized to obtain solutions closer to the voltage collapse point. Such as the starting point, generator reactive power limits, shunt device control modes, area interchange control, and other such parameters. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Electrical Engineering 2017

Numerical Performance of the Holomorphic Embedding MethodJanuary 2018 (has links)
abstract: Recently, a novel non-iterative power flow (PF) method known as the Holomorphic Embedding Method (HEM) was applied to the power-flow problem. Its superiority over other traditional iterative methods such as Gauss-Seidel (GS), Newton-Raphson (NR), Fast Decoupled Load Flow (FDLF) and their variants is that it is theoretically guaranteed to find the operable solution, if one exists, and will unequivocally signal if no solution exists. However, while theoretical convergence is guaranteed by Stahl’s theorem, numerical convergence is not. Numerically, the HEM may require extended precision to converge, especially for heavily-loaded and ill-conditioned power system models.
In light of the advantages and disadvantages of the HEM, this report focuses on three topics:
1. Exploring the effect of double and extended precision on the performance of HEM,
2. Investigating the performance of different embedding formulations of HEM, and
3. Estimating the saddle-node bifurcation point (SNBP) from HEM-based Thévenin-like networks using pseudo-measurements.
The HEM algorithm consists of three distinct procedures that might accumulate roundoff error and cause precision loss during the calculations: the matrix equation solution calculation, the power series inversion calculation and the Padé approximant calculation. Numerical experiments have been performed to investigate which aspect of the HEM algorithm causes the most precision loss and needs extended precision. It is shown that extended precision must be used for the entire algorithm to improve numerical performance.
A comparison of two common embedding formulations, a scalable formulation and a non-scalable formulation, is conducted and it is shown that these two formulations could have extremely different numerical properties on some power systems.
The application of HEM to the SNBP estimation using local-measurements is explored. The maximum power transfer theorem (MPTT) obtained for nonlinear Thévenin-like networks is validated with high precision. Different numerical methods based on MPTT are investigated. Numerical results show that the MPTT method works reasonably well for weak buses in the system. The roots method, as an alternative, is also studied. It is shown to be less effective than the MPTT method but the roots of the Padé approximant can be used as a research tool for determining the effects of noisy measurements on the accuracy of SNBP prediction. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Electrical Engineering 2018

Expressão de p53, p16ink4a, p21Waf1/cip1, p21Ras e p27Kip1/cip1 em pacientes com adenocarcinoma gástrico com invasão da submucosa submetidos a gastrectomia com linfadenectomia D2 / Expression of p53, p16ink4a, p21Waf1/cip1, p21Ras, and p27Kip1/cip1 in patients exhibiting gastric adenocarcinoma with submucosa invasion submitted to gastrectomy with D2 linfadenectomyRoberson Antequera Moron 18 March 2010 (has links)
Maior positividade na mucosa normal de p21waf1/cip1 relaciona-se a sexo feminino e infiltração tipo Sm1 / INTRODUCTION: Early gastric cancer that invades the submucosa might have a lymphonodal involvement in about 20% of the cases. Gastrectomy and D2 linfadenectomy is a procedure that has presented mortality and morbidity. Determining which patients would have a greater risk of lymphonodal involvement would allow treatments with fewer complications. Recently, several authors reported a greater immunohistochemical expression of p53 and p21ras in advanced tumors with worst prognosis. It has also been reported the expression loss of p21wafl, p27kip1, and p16ink4a in advanced tumors, and, some studies also observed the relationship between the markers expression and lymphonodal involvement. METHODS: Eightyone patients who had undergone gastrectomy with D2 linfadenectomy from 1971 to 2004 were retrospectively studied. A new histopathological exam confirmed the diagnosis. Representative areas of both normal and metaplastic mucosa and of the tumor were selected for obtaining new blocks of tissue microarrays. The immunohistochemical expression of p21ras, p53, p21waf1/cip1, p27kip1 and p16ink4a in the tissues was evaluated. RESULTS: In normal, metaplastic and tumoral mucosa, p53 showed positivity in 53%, 87.3%, and 87.1% of the cases, respectively. In the same tissues, p21ras showed positivity in 85.3%, 86%, and 96.8%, respectively. The positivity of p16ink4a was 46.3%, 91.1%, and 86%, respectively. p27kip1 showed a positivity of 60%, 94.7%, and 95.3%, respectively. p21wafl/cip1 presented a positivity of 32.4%, 72.7%, and 71.4%, respectively. All tumors showed positivity for p53. Tumors with lymphonodal involvement presented hyperexpression (+4) of p53 in 47% of the cases versus 17% in patients who had not showed any involvement. No tumor with low positivity (0 and +1) of p53 showed lymphonodal involvement. No tumor with negative p21ras showed lymphonodal involvement. In patients with lymphonodal involvement, p21ras presented strong positivity (+2 and +3) in 88% of the cases versus 50% of the cases without lymphonodal involvement. There was a strong positivity (+2,+3, and +4) of p21wafl/cip1 in 71% of the tumors with lymphonodal involvement versus 28% in patients without involvement. It was not observed an expression loss of p21waf1, p27kip1 e p16ink4a in tumors with lymphonodal involvement. In normal mucosa, p16ink4a showed a hyper-expression (+4) in 20% of the cases with perineural invasion versus 0% of the cases without invasion. This same marker showed a hyper-expression in 50% of the cases with vascular invasion versus 0% of the cases without invasion. Tumors with Sm2 invasion pattern showed low positivity (0 and +1) of p27kip1 in normal mucosa in 89% of the cases versus 55% of the cases of Sm1 tumors. CONCLUSIONS: Higher expression of p53, p21ras, and p21wafl/cip1 in tumor showed a significant statistical relationship with lymphonodal involvement. A higher hyper-expression of p16ink4a in patients normal mucosa was related to perineural and vascular invasion of tumors

"Movimentação precoce do braço no controle do seroma pós-linfadenectomia axilar " / Early arm movement to control seroma formation after axillary lymphadenectomy.Thais de Oliveira Gozzo 30 May 2005 (has links)
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of early arm movement in the control of seroma formation, in women who underwent complete axillary lymphadenectomy (AL) due to breast cancer. A comparative study involved 39 women with diagnosis of unilateral breast cancer of any extension who underwent LA. Data were collected between July 2004 and January 2005, at the onco-gynecology and mastology sector - Gynecology and Obstetric Department of the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto Medical School Hospital das Clínicas. Participants were randomly distributed in two groups: Movement Group (MG) and Control Group (CG). In the CG, 20 women received routine orientation while, in the MG, 19 women were oriented towards systematic early arm movement, with a specific movement program initiated before hospital discharge and continued at home. All women were evaluated the day before surgery, the first day after surgery, 5-10 days and 30-40 days after surgery. The Mann-Whitney statistical test revealed that the groups were homogeneous in terms of age and body mass index, although the number of subjects was found statistically insignificant. The permanence of the drain and the volume drained were lower in MG. Incidence levels of seroma were equal in the two groups, but the resolution was faster and less invasive in MG. In spite of a statistically insignificant number of subjects, early and systematic arm movement provided better seroma absorption and was not associated with other surgical complications.
