MODÈLES STOCHASTIQUES INTERAGISSANTS : SYNCHRONISATION ET RÉDUCTION À UN SYSTÈME DE PHASES

Poquet, Christophe 08 October 2013 (has links) (PDF)

Synchronisationsphänomene myotendinöser Oszillationen interagierender neuromuskulärer Systeme : mit Betrachtung einer Hypothese bezüglich unterschiedlicher Qualitäten isometrischer Muskelaktion / Synchronization phenomena of myotendinal oscillations during interaction of neuromuscular systems : considering a hypothesis regarding different qualities of isometric muscle action

Schaefer, Laura January 2014 (has links)
Muscles oscillate with a frequency of about 10 Hz. But what happens with myofascial oscillations if two neuromuscular systems interact? The dissertation is devoted to this question during isometric interaction. The test measurements provide hints for the presence of possibly two different forms of isometric muscle action. When two persons work against each other, each individual can subjectively choose to take up one of two modes: one can either hold isometrically – thus resist the force of the partner – or one can push isometrically – and therefore work against the resistance of the partner. In addition to the measurements to determine the interaction of neuromuscular systems, measurements with single individuals were done to evaluate the question, if probably two forms of isometric muscle action exist. The doctoral thesis consists of two separate parts concerning the content and methodology: I “Single Isometric” and II “Coupled Isometric”. For part I the hypothetical measurement modes - “holding” and “pushing” during isometric muscle action - were examined using a pneumatic system. During the measurements of n = 10 subjects the signal of pressure, force (strain gauge) and acceleration were recorded. Furthermore, the detection of the mechanic muscle oscillations of the following myotendinal structures occurred via Mechanomyo- (MMG) and Mechanotendography (MTG), respectively: triceps brachii muscle (MMGtri), tendon of triceps brachii muscle (MTGtri) and obliquus externus abdominis muscle (MMGobl). Each test person performed at 80 % of MVC six 15-seconds-measurements (three at holding and three at pushing mode, respectively; break: 1 min.) as well as four fatigue measurements (two at holding and two at pushing mode, respectively; break: 2 min.). In order to compare the two measurement modes holding and pushing, the amplitude of the myofascial oscillations as well as the force endurance were used. Significant differences between the holding and the pushing mode appeared especially when looking at the characteristics of fatigue. Subjects in the holding mode yielded earlier than during the pushing one (t(9) = 3.716; p = .005). In the pushing mode the longest isometric plateau amounts 59.4 % of the overall duration of the measurement. During holding it lasted 31.6 % (t(19) = 5.265, p = .000). The amplitudes of the single-isometric-measurements did not differ significantly. But the amplitude of the MMGobl varied significantly stronger during the pushing mode comparing to the holding one. Due to these partly significant differences between both measurement modes, this setting was considered for the second part „Coupled-Isometric“, too. For the coupled-isometric-measurements n = 20 subjects – divided into same-sex couples – were investigated during isometric interaction. The placement of the sensors is analogous to part I. The oscillations of the recorded MMG- and MTG-signals were analyzed regarding their coherence inter alia by algorithms of non-linear dynamics. Through the coupled-isometric-measurements it was shown, that also during isometric interaction the muscles and the tendons of both neuromuscular systems oscillate at the known frequency range of 10 Hz. Moreover, the systems are able to coordinate them in such a manner, that a significant coherence appears. This differed significantly from random pairings (number of patches: t(29) = 3.477; p = .002; Sum of 4 longest patches: t(29) = 7.505; p = .000). Thus it is concluded that neuromuscular complementary partners are able to synchronize themselves in the sense of coherent behavior. Regarding the parameters concerning the possibly existing forms of isometric muscle action, a significant difference at the coupled-isometric-measurements between holding and pushing appeared with respect to the characteristics of fatigue as well as the amplitudes of the MMGobl. The results of both sub studies strengthen the hypothesis that two forms of isometric muscle action exist. It is questionable whether one can talk of isometry at all, since each isometric muscle action consists of fine oscillations. This excludes a by definition postulated isometry. It is proposed to exchange this term with homeometry. The results of the coupled-isometric-measurements show inter alia, that neuromuscular systems are able to coordinate their myotendinal oscillations, so that coherent behavior arises. It is supposed that for this both systems have to be functionally intact. This procedure could become relevant for diagnostics of functional disorders.

Synchronisation d'un oscillateur à transfert de spin à une source de courant RF : mécanismes et caractérisation à température ambiante / Synchronization of a Spin Transfer oscillator to a RF current : mechanisms and room-temperature characterization.

Dieudonné, Christophe 06 July 2015 (has links)
Spin transfer oscillators (STOs) are promising nanometer scaled oscillators (~100nm) for radiofrequency applications. They rely on the steady precession of the magnetization of a thin magnetic layer induced by spin-transfer torque (STT). A STO device based on a magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) will typically generate an electrical signal with a frequency of the order of ten GHz and an output power of several nW. Compared to voltage controlled oscillators (VCO) used today for microwave generation, STOs have the advantage of having an important frequency tunability with current. However, criteria in terms of the quality of the output signal are not yet fulfilled for STO to be competitive. To enhance the STO signal properties, two suggestions are proposed: (i) optimization of the magnetic stack within a single STO device and (ii) synchronization of several STOs. The second approach was examined during this thesis: here we look at the electrical synchronization of a STO to a stabilized RF current source, or “injection-locking”. The case of a STO with homogenous magnetization of in-plane precession (IPP) type is investigated.Interestingly, synchronization of a STO at 2f, i.e. when the frequency of the injected current is close to twice the generation frequency of the STO, is favored compared to synchronization at f. The experimental results from several groups have shown both enhanced synchronization range and a more pronounced linewidth reduction at 2f.This singular behavior is examined first through an analytical study of magnetization dynamics along with numerical macrospin simulations, in order to identify synchronization mechanisms taking effect in the system.Indeed, current models (in particular the KTS auto-oscillator formalism) describe synchronization of a STO with making a clear distinction between synchronization at f and 2f, and the resulting predictions turn out to be insufficient at 2f. Here, by extension of the KTS formalism, the keys to the synchronization process at 2f are presented: frequency adjustment by adjustment of the oscillation amplitude via the STO non-linearity and modification of the anti-damping term through the phase-difference.The experimental characterization of the synchronized regime in a MTJ-based STO is also detailed in the manuscript. Utilizing experimental signal processing techniques in both frequency and temporal domain, we extract characteristic quantities for synchronization such as the locking-range and the phase-difference, and we compare these quantities with the analytical predictions. Finally, the effects of current injection on the coherence of the output signal are also discussed.

Facial Modelling and animation trends in the new millennium : a survey

Radovan, Mauricio 11 1900 (has links)
M.Sc (Computer Science) / Facial modelling and animation is considered one of the most challenging areas in the animation world. Since Parke and Waters’s (1996) comprehensive book, no major work encompassing the entire field of facial animation has been published. This thesis covers Parke and Waters’s work, while also providing a survey of the developments in the field since 1996. The thesis describes, analyses, and compares (where applicable) the existing techniques and practices used to produce the facial animation. Where applicable, the related techniques are grouped in the same chapter and described in a chronological fashion, outlining their differences, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. The thesis is concluded by exploratory work towards a talking head for Northern Sotho. Facial animation and lip synchronisation of a fragment of Northern Sotho is done by using software tools primarily designed for English. / Computing

Formalisation mathématique et hybridation à base de métaheuristique / Vehicle routing problem with synchronization constraints in home care support services - Mathematical formulation and hybridization based on metaheuristics

Gayraud, Fabrice 13 July 2015 (has links)
We are interested in a routing problem within the context of home health care. The cares are provided by one or two caregivers with the required type at the patient’s home during the patients’ availability. A type is doctor or nurse for instance. Each patient is characterized by a dependency level and may give a preference for a caregiver. The goal is to construct the tour for each caregiver visiting all patients, minimizing the length of the tours, balancing the workload of the caregivers and maximizing the satisfaction of the patients. We present a state of the art of the home health care problem. Then we propose two mathematical models of our problem based on the multiple Traveling Salesman Problem with Time Windows (m-TSPTW) with specific constraints like the activities’s synchronization or ressources’ type. The performance criteria are specific of our problem : workload balancing and patients’ satisfaction. We then propose approached methods based on combination between Metaheuristics and simulation model. This méthods have been tested on dataset from the literature and dataset adapted to our problem. We conclude with three research perspectives :- the reorganization of the tours when a caregiver is not available,- the integration of stochastic transport time,- the location of home support structure and its impact on the routes’ construction.

Ulguim, Rafael da Rosa January 2014 (has links)
The reduction in the number of semen doses used per sow served through of a single fixed-time insemination (FTAI) allows sperm cell reduction per sow served, optimising the artificial insemination (AI) programs. Considering the large variability in the interval between oestrus onset and ovulation the ovulation time, the FTAI protocols require hormones to synchronise ovulation. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the use of different dosages of porcine luteinising hormone (pLH) given at oestrous onset in gilts and sows through different routes of application to synchronise the ovulation and to define a protocol of FTAI. The first study evaluated the effect of different dosages of pLH applied at oestrous onset by intramuscular route (i.m.) in gilts on interval between oestrus onset to ovulation. In this way three treatments were performed: control - without pLH application at oestrous onset; pLH2.5 - use of 2.5 mg of pLH given at oestrous onset by i.m. route; pLH5 - use of 5 mg of pLH given at oestrus onset by i.m. route. Differences in the interval onset of oestrus to ovulation (IOEO) among treatments (P>0.05) were not observed. Similarly the frequency distribution of IOEO did not differ among treatments (P>0.05). In a second study, was evaluated an alternative route of pLH application and the reproductive performance of gilts submitted to a single FTAI. Thus, the following treatments were performed: control – without pLH application at oestrous onset and use of multiple AI; VS2.5FTAI – use of 2.5 mg of pLH injected at oestrus onset by vulvar submucosal route (v.s) and use of a single FTAI 16 h later; IM5FTAI – use of 5 mg of pLH injected at oestrous onset by i.m. and use of a single FTAI 16 h later. On average differences in the IOEO among treatments (P<0.05) were observed and more VS2.5FTAI gilts ovulated up to 24 h after oestrous onset in relation to control (P<0.05). Adjusted farrowing rate (AFR) did not differ among treatments (P>0.05), however the total piglets born (TPB) was lower in the group VS2.5FTAI compared to control (P<0.05). In order to adjust the FTAI protocol in gilts for a practical use in the routine of the farm and to evaluate the use of pLH by v.s. route in weaned sows, the third study was conducted through two experiments. In gilts two treatments were performed: control-G - without pLH injection at oestrous onset and use of multiple AI during the oestrous; FTAI-G – 2.5 mg pLH applied by v.s. route at oestrous onset and use of a single FTAI 12 h later. The IOEO was shorter in the FTAI-G gilts compared to control-G (P<0.05), but the frequency distribution of IOEO did not differ between treatment (P>0.05). The AFR was lower to FTAI-G group compared to control-G (P<0.05). Differences on TPB between treatments were not observed (P>0.05). In the weaned sows three treatments were performed: control-S - without pLH application at oestrous onset and use of multiple inseminations; FTAI-NH - no hormone application and a single FTAI 24h after the onset of oestrus detection; FTAI-pLH - use of 2.5 mg pLH at oestrous onset by v.s. route and use of a single FTAI 24 h later. The results of this study did not insure difference on the AFR and TPB among treatments (P>0.05).

Etude de la dynamique des oscillateurs à vortex par synchronisation et modulation de fréquence / study of the vortex oscillators dynamic by synchronization and frequency modulation

Martin, Sylvain Yoann 23 October 2013 (has links)
Since 2004, research on radiofrequency (RF) spintronic devices has been very active, both from a fundamental point of view as well as for their potential applications as RF oscillators or spin-diodes. These devices are based on spin transfer torque (STT). In this context, I studied vortex oscillators based on ultra-low resistance magnetic tunnel junctions in which vortex dynamics is driven into a periodic motion by STT. The vortex oscillations are observed when the junction is subjected to a large dc bias current and a low in-plane field. The dc current produces both a large Oersted field which contributes to the vortex nucleation and a STT that starts the vortex oscillation. This oscillation leads to a large output power up to 20nW with a fundamental frequency around 450MHz and many harmonics.Synchronization with an external signal was then tested by adding a RF current to the dc bias current. With a large enough input power, the oscillator locks on the external source: the noise is then drastically reduced and the spectral purity of the signal significantly increases. These observations are explained by describing the system as a parametric oscillator. This model predicts, as experimentally observed, that, for a small amplitude of the RF excitation, a dynamical instability can be more easily reached when its frequency is twice the natural frequency of the oscillator than for any other frequencies. Then, I performed frequency modulation measurements by exciting the dc-biased sample with a low frequency ac-current. The power spectral density was measured as I swept the modulation frequency for various modulation powers. It appears that the description previously used to describe modulation experiments does not apply when the modulation frequency is a significant fraction of the natural frequency. The vortex response time appears to play a significant role, so that the concept of deviation sensitivity has to be introduced to explain the observations: it corresponds to the dynamical dependence of the oscillator frequency with an applied current that varies with time.
