A aus?ncia de medidas de prote??o sanit?ria e ambiental no controle dos impactos gerados contribui para o aumento do risco de degrada??o n?o apenas na ?rea de lavra, mas em toda a extens?o da ?rea de influ?ncia da minera??o. Neste contexto, diagn?sticos de qualidade do solo e dos res?duos da minera??o s?o imprescind?veis para orientar medidas que promovam a redu??o dos impactos e a recupera??o das ?reas degradadas. No munic?pio de Currais Novos, localizado na regi?o semi?rida do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte, algumas mineradoras realizam a explora??o da scheelita desde a d?cada de 1940. A mina Olho d??gua foi desativada em 1976 e a mina Barra Verde est? em atividade. Nessas minas, as atividades de lavra e de beneficiamento da scheelita geraram pilhas de est?ril e rejeito que est?o depositadas no solo sem qualquer medida de prote??o. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar atributos f?sicos e qu?micos do solo e os teores de metais pesados nas minas Barra Verde e Olho d??gua a fim de identificar est?gios de degrada??o nas ?reas mineradas e estabelecer indicadores de qualidade que facilitem a recupera??o e monitoramento ambiental na regi?o. Os resultados demonstraram que a aus?ncia de medidas de controle e de recupera??o nas minas contribui para a intensifica??o dos processos erosivos, o que amplia o potencial de difus?o de contaminantes para os demais componentes da bacia hidrogr?fica. As ?reas de deposi??o de est?ril e rejeito na mina ativa apresentaram n?vel de degrada??o do solo mais acentuado dentre as ?reas mineradas. Na mina desativada, o crescimento espont?neo da vegeta??o tem favorecido a pedog?nese dos substratos remanescentes da minera??o e a recupera??o da qualidade do solo, indicando que a t?cnica de revegeta??o ? adequada para estabiliza??o e recupera??o das fun??es ecossist?micas das ?reas mineradas. A sensibilidade na distin??o entre a ?rea natural e minerada dos atributos f?sforo dispon?vel, pH, acidez potencial, argila, nitrog?nio total, mat?ria org?nica, densidade do solo, porosidade total e densidade de part?culas e os metais Cd, Cu e Pb faz com que sejam considerados bons indicadores de qualidade do solo a serem utilizados em programas de recupera??o e monitoramento ambiental das ?reas mineradas. / Mining promotes significant changes in the landscape and soil quality, and is considered one of the major anthropogenic sources of heavy metals in the environment. The absence of measures of health and environmental protection in controlling the impacts generated contributes to the increased risk of degradation not only in the mined area, but in the full extent of the area affected by mining. In this context, soil quality and mining waste diagnostics are essential to guide measures that promote the reduction of impacts and the recovery of degraded areas. In the municipality of Currais Novos, located in the semi-arid region of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, some mining companies exploit the scheelite ore since 1940s. Olho d??gua mine was shut down in 1976 and Barra Verde mine is in operation. These mines, the mining and beneficiation activities of scheelite generated piles of tailings and overburden that are deposited in the soil without any protective measure. This study aimed to evaluate physical and chemical properties of soil and heavy metal content in Barra Verde and Olho d??gua mines to identify stages of degradation in mined areas and establish quality indicators for facilitate recovery and environmental monitoring in the region.The results showed that the absence of control and recovery measures in the mines contributes to the intensification of erosion, which increases the potential spread of contaminants to the other componentes of the watershed. The overburden deposition and tailings areas in the active mine showed stronger level of land degradation among the mined areas. In the disabled mine, the spontaneous growth of vegetation has favored the pedogenesis of the remaining substrates mining and recovery of soil quality, indicating that the revegetation technique is suitable for stabilization and recovery of ecosystem functions of mined areas. Cd, Cu and Pb beyond values of investigation established by Brazilian law indicate to need for remediation measures in mined areas. The sensitivity in distinguishing between the natural and mined area of available phosphorus, pH, potential acidity, clay, total nitrogen, organic matter, bulk density, total porosity, particle density Cd, Cu and Pb makes them good soil quality indicators to be used in recovery and environmental monitoring programs of mined areas.

In the Natal County there is a Zona Especial de Interesse Turistico II (Special Zone of Tourism Interest II) (ZET-II), consisted of urban beaches with approximately 8.5 km that is an important seashore of the city. The purpose of this research was identification, characterization and assessment of the process of use and occupation of dunes fields emphasizing the role of ZET-II, whereas the specific goals was the analysis of weather, geology and geomorphology, characterization of use and occupation of soil, and elaboration of an environmental diagnosis with identification and description of its mains consequences. The result of this work was the delineation of geologic-geomorphological map of the area with identification of principals units, determining its use and occupation, the measurement of the area already occupied by equipments, besides the description of the environmental impacts on dune fields: devastation, coastline erosion, ocean pollution by sewer and pluvial waters, contamination of groundwater, distribution inadequate of solid residues, landscape degradation, and occupation of seashore through the privatization of public areas. Concluding that the degrading changes occurred in this areas are resulting from the nature of use and urban seashore regulations, which have been diminishing the natural aspect, altering the landscape definitely, compromising the quality of hydro resources and altering its use, privatizing the areas between tides, complicating the population access and obstructing the scenery visualization of dunes and ocean. Foi feita an?lise dos atributos f?sicos (densidade do solo, de part?cula, porosidade total e granulomentria), qu?micos (pH, condutividade el?trica, Ca??, Mg??, Na,K?, H?+Al??, Al??, soma de bases, capacidade de troca de c?tions potencial, satura??o por bases e por alum?nio e mat?ria org?nica) e teores de metais pesados dispon?veis (Fe, Mn, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb e Zn). A minera??o de scheelita provoca perdas de qualidade do solo. Os atributos f?sicos e qu?micos, mais sens?veis na distin??o entre as ?reas mineradas e a mata nativa s?o Ds, MO, Ca??, CE, pH e acidez potencial, os quais podem ser utilizados em programas de monitoramento ambiental da ?rea. Piles of tailings are regular sources of contamination in the environment, impacting, mainly, in the soil, reducing its quality by changes in its physical and chemical attributes and also by the deposition of heavy metals. The main objective of this study was the evaluation of physical and chemical attributes, and also evaluate the heavy metals content in the soil of Breju? Mine. It was collected soil samples in nine mining places and also it was collected soil samples from a native forest place, the last one it was used as quality reference. It was analyzed physical attributes (soil particle density, total porosity and granulometry), chemicals (pH, electric conductivity, Ca??, Mg??, Na?,K?, H?+Al??, Al??, sum of bases, potential cation exchange capacity, saturation by bases and by aluminum, organic matter) and available metals contents (Fe, Mn, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb e Zn). The scheelite mining causes losses in the soil quality. Physical and Chemicals attributes more affected when compared to native forest areas are Ds, MO, Ca??, CE, pH and potential acidity, those attributes can be used in programs of environmental monitoring of the area. The most evident degradation processes in the mining area are compaction, salinization, depletion in the organic matter contents and contamination by heavy metals. Metals like Cd, Ni e Pb are been available by piles of mining waste of scheelite exceeding reference values of soil quality for Rio Grande do Norte state. It is necessary the elaboration a plan to manage and recover the mining area aiming adequate disposition of wastes, with emphasis on the pile of ferrous tailings, and the mitigation of degradation processes evidenced in the present study.

For that, the study was divided in two chapters, structured in the shape of a scientific paper. The first is a theoretical proposition on the occupation of the APPs in light of the discussion of the geographic space and the sustainability of the development, where a bibliographical review was made emphasizing the production of the geographic space, the sustainability of the development and the permanent preservation areas. In the second chapter, from a systemic approach, geoprocessing techniques and the adaptation of the Pressure-State- Response Indicators System were used, the latter being developed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD. Therefore, from the methodological approaches used, it's been observed that the use of permanent preservation areas for purposes other than those determined in the legislation and, mainly guided by capitalist interests, leads to the environmental degradation of these areas, fact which has been confirmed in the empiric study conducted in the second chapter, where it was possible to identify a series of environmental impacts such as: deforestation of mangrove and riparian vegetation for carciniculture implantation, the devastation of dune areas caused by the urban expansion in the coastal stretch and siltation of fluvial channel / O objetivo desta disserta??o ? identificar e analisar os principais impactos ambientais ocorrentes nas ?reas de preserva??o permanente localizadas no estu?rio do Rio Cear?-Mirim/RN e suas ?reas adjacentes. Para isto, o estudo foi dividido em dois cap?tulos estruturados em forma de artigo cient?fico. O primeiro ? uma proposi??o te?rica sobre a ocupa??o das APPs a luz da discuss?o do espa?o geogr?fico e da sustentabilidade do desenvolvimento, onde foi feita uma revis?o bibliogr?fica enfatizando a produ??o do espa?o geogr?fico, a sustentabilidade do desenvolvimento e as ?reas de preserva??o permanente. The study of soil quality has evolved as an important tool for soil sustainable management of this component of the biosphere that affects aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems functions. Thus, physical and chemical soil proprieties were measured to assess soil quality under different land uses (agricultural, pasture, urban, industrial and natural vegetation,) in the riparian zone of Extremoz Lake, an important human water source, evaluating whether the soil offers potential risk to water pollution. Data were subjected to descriptive statistics and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed negative changes in soil quality such as alkalinization and increase in P, Pb, Mn and Zn contents in most anthropized areas. The sandy texture and low organic matter content in all soils showed the fragility of the soil to erosion and leaching of elements in excess to water bodies, evidencing that this soils has potential to diffuse contaminants. Conservative management of soil is necessary to provide an adequate ecological state in riparian zones of the Extremoz Lake, thus allowing controlling and buffering diffuse sources of pollution to this important water supply source / O crescimento demogr?fico pressiona ambientes intrinsecamente sens?veis frente ?s perturba??es, como as zonas rip?rias de mananciais, sem que se conhe?am os efeitos da substitui??o desses ambientes naturais por diferentes usos na qualidade do solo e, consequentemente, da bacia hidrogr?fica. O estudo da qualidade do solo tem evolu?do como importante ferramenta para o manejo sustent?vel deste componente da biosfera que influencia diretamente e indiretamente no funcionamento de ecossistemas terrestre e aqu?ticos. Assim, a caracteriza??o de atributos f?sicos e qu?micos do solo foi realizada sob diferentes usos (agr?cola, pastagem, urbano, industrial e vegeta??o natural) na zona rip?ria de uma lagoa tropical, um importante manancial de abastecimento, para avaliar a qualidade do solo e sua poss?vel degrada??o, gerando potencial risco de polui??o do manancial. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos ? analise descritiva e ? an?lise de componentes principais (PCA),. This paper studies Tabo?o, Mandi and Quatinga brooks, and these three have some common characteristics: they are watersheds in the municipality of Lorena and the tributaries of the right bank of the Para?ba do Sul river. They born in the rural area and in a transversal way, they cross the city through rural and urban-industrial landscapes and conservation areas. The three brooks face problems such as lack of basic sanitation, waste disposal and irregular occupation of permanent preservation areas. The aim of this study is to analyze the sensibility of the environmental degradation indicators along to these three water bodies in relation to the ?lex? (Exclusion Index), which is obtained through the Exclusion Map method. The Exclusion Map uses intra-municipal data from a demographic census of 2010, carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and its goal is to diagnose socio-economic indicators in different parts of the territory, that are more related to the environmental degradation and, consequently, to corroborate for a continuo process of public policies formulation that are dedicated to seek a sustainable development. / A regi?o do Vale do Para?ba historicamente sofreu intensa depreda??o de suas riquezas florestais e nos ?ltimos 50 anos consider?vel expans?o demogr?fica que associada a um desenvolvimento industrial intenso e diversificado, intensificou a degrada??o de seus recursos naturais. Este trabalho estuda os ribeir?es Tabo?o, Mandi e Quatinga, os tr?s possuem caracter?sticas em comum: s?o microbacias do munic?pio de Lorena, afluentes da margem direita do Rio Para?ba do Sul, nascem na zona rural e cortam o munic?pio na transversal passando por paisagens rurais, urbano-industriais e de ?reas de preserva??o. Os tr?s ribeir?es enfrentam problemas como falta de saneamento b?sico, descarte de res?duos e ocupa??o irregular das ?reas de preserva??o permanente. O estudo visa analisar a sensibilidade dos indicadores de degrada??o ambiental ao longo destes corpos d'?gua em rela??o ao Iex (?ndice de Exclus?o), que ? obtido atrav?s do m?todo do Mapa de Exclus?o, que utiliza dados intra-municipais do Censo Demogr?fico de 2010, realizado pelo IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estat?stica), com objetivo de diagnosticar os indicadores s?cio-econ?micos, nas diferentes parcelas do territ?rio, que se relacionam com maior signific?ncia ? degrada??o ambiental e assim, corroborar para um processo cont?nuo de formula??o de pol?ticas p?blicas voltadas ? busca por um desenvolvimento sustent?vel.

O m?todo utilizado para a amostragem foi o da interse??o na linha. A ?rea de estudos foi dividida em tr?s setores, de acordo com o porte da vegeta??o e est?gios dos processos erosivos na parte interna da vo?oroca e os setores divididos em estratos: baixada, encosta oeste e encosta leste. Foram registradas 101 esp?cies, divididas em 74 g?neros e 27 fam?lias bot?nicas. As fam?lias Asteraceae e Melastomataceae e os g?neros Baccharis e Miconia foram os mais representativos e o grupo das Samambaias apresentou maiores ?ndices de Frequ?ncia, Cobertura e Valor de Import?ncia. A ?rea apresentou baixa similaridade flor?stica e alta diversidade de esp?cies. Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Ci?ncia Florestal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2017. / The objective of the present work was to evaluate the behavior of the plant communities in areas degraded by erosive processes - gully type, in order to assist in recovery programs in degraded areas. The method used for sampling was that of the line-intercept. The study area was divided into three sectors, according to vegetation size and stages of the erosive processes in the inner part of the gully and the sectors divided into strata: lowland, west slope and east slope. There were 101 species, divided into 74 genera and 27 botanical families.The families Asteraceae and Melastomataceae and the genera Baccharis and Miconia were the most representative ones and the group of Ferns presented higher Frequency, Coverage and Significance Indices. The area presented low floristic similarity and high species diversity. Higher percentages of species with zoocoric dispersion syndrome, shrub habit and phanerophytic life form were recorded. The analysis of the vegetation allows to emphasize that the area is in the initial secondary succession stage.

Several factors contribute to the degradation of these ecosystems. The Maracaja? Reef Complex, in Rio Grande do Norte state is part of the Coral Reefs Environment Preservation Area in northeastern Brazil. This area has been receiving an increasing influx of tourism and the integrity of the local reefs is a matter of concern. In this study, the reef macroalgae communities were studied and compared within two areas distinguished by the presence or absence of tourism activities. Two sample sites were chosen: the first one, where diving activities are intense; and the other, where these practices do not occur. Samples were collected at both sites within a quadrate of 625 cm2 of area randomly thrown 5 times along a 10 meters transect line. Richness, Shannon-Hill diversity and Simpson dominance indices were determined based on biomass data. Similarity between sites was analyzed with Bray-Curtis similarity and distance index. Fifty-eight macroalgae species were observed, including 7 Chlorophyta, 13 Phaeophyta and 38 Rhodophyta. In the non-disturbed site, 49 species were found, while at the disturbed site, there were 42 species. Dictyotaceae and Corallinaceae were the most representative families at the non-disturbed site, and Rhodomelaceae and Dictyotaceae at the disturbed site. The non-disturbed site presented a higher biomass and the greatest richness and diversity indices. In the disturbed site the dominance index was greater and Caulerpa racemosa was the dominant species. The dendogram based on similarity index showed two major clusters, and an isolated element at the center that corresponds to a sample from the disturbed site. In the first cluster, samples from the non-impacted site were predominant and fleshy brown algae were more conspicuous. The second cluster was composed primarily of samples from the impacted site, where C. racemosa and red filamentous and erect calcareous algae associations (turf forming) were observed covering large extensions. These associations are represented by groups of algae adapted to environments where disturbances are frequent. They can grow rapidly on substrate where benthic community was removed and do not allow the establishment of other species. The results of the present study show that tourism activity is an impacting factor that has been causing shifts in macroalgae communities in the Maracaja? Reef Complex / Apesar de toda a import?ncia dos recifes para a humanidade, estes ambientes v?m sendo amea?ados em todo o mundo. Diversos s?o os fatores que podem contribuir para a degrada??o destes ambientes. Os recifes de Maracaja?, na ?rea de Preserva??o Ambiental dos Recifes de Corais, localizada no litoral norte-oriental do Rio Grande do Norte, v?m recebendo um n?mero cada vez maior de turistas, o que est? causando preocupa??es quanto a integridade do local. Neste estudo, as comunidades de macroalgas dos recifes de Maracaja? foram estudadas com a finalidade compara??o entre duas sub?reas diferenciadas pela presen?a/aus?ncia de turistas. Foram estabelecidas duas esta??es de coleta: uma (I) onde as atividades de mergulho praticadas por turistas s?o intensas e outra (II), onde estas pr?ticas n?o ocorrem. Em cada esta??o foi estabelecida transectos de 10 metros, onde foram distribu?dos de forma aleat?ria 5 quadrados (625cm2). O material coletado foi triado, identificado e teve a biomassa quantificada. A partir dos dados de biomassa foram calculados os ?ndices de riqueza, diversidade de Shannon-Hill e domin?ncia de Simpson. A similaridade entre as duas esta??es foi analisada pelo ?ndice de similaridade e dist?ncia de Bray-Curtis. Foram coletadas 58 esp?cies de macroalgas no total, sendo 7 esp?cies de Chlorophyta, 13 esp?cies de Phaeophyta e 38 esp?cies de Rhodophyta. Destas, 49 esp?cies foram encontradas na ?rea n?o impactada e 42 na ?rea impactada. Entre as fam?lias encontradas, as mais representativas na ?rea n?o impactada foram Dictyotaceae e Corallinaceae, e na ?rea impactada, Rhodomelaceae e Dictyotaceae. A ?rea n?o impactada apresentou maior biomassa e os maiores ?ndices de riqueza e diversidade. Na ?rea impactada o ?ndice de domin?ncia foi maior, sendo C. racemosa a esp?cie dominante nesta ?rea. O dendograma formado a partir do ?ndice de similaridade apresentou-se dividido em dois grandes grupos e um elemento isolado ao centro do dendograma, que corresponde a uma amostra da ?rea impactada. No primeiro agrupamento o predom?nio foi de amostras da ?rea n?o impactada, onde as algas pardas foram mais consp?cuas. Este tipo de alga se torna dominante, geralmente, em recifes onde ocorreu a redu??o do n?mero de herb?voros. O segundo agrupamento foi composto por uma maioria de amostras da ?rea impactada, onde C. racemosa e associa??es de algas filamentosas e calc?rias eretas crescendo como tapetes foram encontradas cobrindo grandes extens?es nesta ?rea. Estas associa??es compreenderam grupos de algas adaptadas a ambientes sujeitos a perturba??es freq?entes e, assim como C. racemosa, crescem rapidamente sobre espa?os rec?m desocupados nos recifes, n?o permitindo o estabelecimento de outras esp?cies. Os resultados do presente estudo demonstraram que a atividade tur?stica ? um fator impactante que t?m causado altera??es nas comunidades de macroalgas da ?rea de Preserva??o Ambiental dos Recifes de Corais

Such analysis arose due to concerns related to the disordered occupation in that Hill and also due to the environmental problems caused by this occupation. By opening roads and developing areas for housing and mineral extraction activities, man has altered considerably the landscape natural balance in that hill and caused among other difficulties, grave environmental problems, such as the erosin at the hill coast, deforestation, obstruction and pollution of the Verruga River. Therefore, in 1998 it was decreed by the Municipal Public Power that Periperi Hill became an Environmental Preservation Area with a Unit of Conservation known as Periperi Hill Municipal Park, an environmental policy implemented at the Hill that aims to hinder this occupation and to protect areas that are of great environmental importance to the city. It looking at what is now exposed and aiming to consider the Periperi Hill s environmental policy and the relationship of the occupation process, that this present work has the objective of understanding how the expansion of the city s urban network in Vit?ria da Conquista BA and the mineral activities cause an influence in the process of environmental degradation at the Periperi Hill / Esta disserta??o tem como objeto de estudo a an?lise da pol?tica ambiental e o desenvolvimento urbano na Serra do Periperi. Tal an?lise partiu de preocupa??es concernentes a ocupa??o desordenada na Serra e aos problemas ambientais advindos dessa ocupa??o. Ao construir loteamentos e estradas, e realizar atividades mineradoras o homem alterou consideravelmente o equil?brio natural da paisagem na Serra e ocasionou entre outras coisas, graves problemas ambientais, como a eros?o das encostas da serra, desmatamentos, assoreamento e polui??o do Rio Verruga. Assim em 1998 a Serra do Periperi foi decretada por parte do Poder P?blico Municipal como ?rea de Preserva??o Ambiental com uma Unidade de Conserva??o denominada Parque Municipal da Serra do Periperi essa pol?tica ambiental implementada na Serra visa coibir essa ocupa??o e proteger ?reas que s?o de extrema import?ncia ambiental para a cidade.
