This thesis reconstructs and analyzes the professional trajectories of university teachers of private higher education in Porto Alegre and the metropolitan area that lived the demission experience on yours academic careers. It is an explanatory study whose sample, no probabilistic and intentional, consists of 16 teachers who worked in private institutions of higher education. The data analysis shows that: the development of the academic career of a positive influence the professional trajectories; at high titration, doctoral or master's degree, combined time of the academic experience, was essential for the fate of the virtuous path professionals within and outside the industry academic, the teachers dismissed, with less experience and no alternative employment or work, had less righteous destinations for those with a higher degree of employability, resigned resemble the processes are similar in shape and reasons, mainly economic reasons and political criteria, the search for permanent teachers in institutions leads to the formation of ghettos institutions that are driven by political interests, networks of professional contacts helped the teachers dismissed to reintegrate more quickly in the labor market, the family served as the main emotional, social and economic. Data analysis suggests that the dismissal of teachers in professional trajectories cause a rupture in ties of trust and the meaning of the academic career, influencing the virtuosity of its destination. It also indicates that they are affected by factors, primarily, of a conjunctural, structural and politic and that the action of teachers is not a sufficient response to change and begin to find that barriers in their professional performance.

Vem är Göteborg? : En undersökning om Göteborg som turistdestination / Who is Gothenburg?- A study of Gothenburg as a tourist destinationBoström, Camilla, Johansson, Gabriella, Ekström, Sofia January 2016 (has links)
With the development in the charter industry over the last decades, marketing companies must create ways to make a destination stand out against others to potential tourists. Some researchers argue that brand personality is a good tool to use for this purpose. In this essay written in Swedish, we explore tourism in Gothenburg based on personality traits. One qualitative data collection is gathered from interviews with two marketing employees at Göteborg & Co, while a quantitative survey was also completed with tourists visiting the city. The results show that personality traits that are desired by Göteborg & Co marketing, match the personality traits of tourists visiting the city.

Smart destinace cestovního ruchu / Smart Tourism DestinationKALOUŠOVÁ, Michaela January 2019 (has links)
Based on an analysis of the smart city and smart region concepts and case studies, the aim of the thesis was to identify the possibilities of their use in the tourism industry and to create a proposal for their application in selected tourist destinations. In cooperation with the selected destination of Písek, which endorses the smart city concept, and based on discussions with city representatives, the objective was narrowed down to the introduction of new iBeacon technology implemented in Písek through the eCulture project. This technology helps fulfil the concept of the smart city as a tourist destination. The main goal of applying this method is effective presentation of the City of Písek. Together with the destination company Píseckem, s.r.o., a total of 12 beacons were proposed in the historic city centre and three more in its immediate vicinity. First, the content of individual beacons was prepared in the practical part of the research, which was divided into basic and supplementary text. The basic text provides the main information, while the supplementary text is primarily designed to attract attention. Subsequently, the destination company was provided with graphic designs for display-ing information to end-users through selected beacons. To ensure effective presentation of the City of Písek through iBeacon technol-ogy, selected visuals were tested with an eye camera. Eye tracking is a modern research method in which the eye movements of participants (respondents) are monitored. The results were presented using heat maps, which show the intensity with which individual places in the graphic design are viewed by respondents. The proposal part of the thesis was prepared based on the results of eye tracking tests and subsequent in-depth interviews. A total of four graphic designs were created, namely beacon 01 (Great Square), beacon 02 (Town Hall Courtyard), beacon 03 (Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross) and beacon 05 (Bakaláře).

Ανταγωνιστικότητα των διεθνών περιφερειακών προορισμών μέσα από την προοπτική της διαπολιτισμικής εμπειρίας / Competitiveness of international regional destinations through the intercultural-experience perspectiveΔέδε, Ανίλα 10 June 2014 (has links)
Traditionally, tourism was placed second as a priority in the agenda of investors, policy makers, and academics. Nowadays, a significant reappraisal of its role in socioeconomic development is taking place, which values tourism as a source for earning export revenues, generating large numbers of jobs, promoting economic growth and a more services-oriented economy not only in developing but also in developed countries (UNCTAD, 2007).
According to World Tourism Organization (WTO), the European Union (EU) numbered six Member States among the top 10 countries in the world welcoming the largest number of international tourist arrivals. Within the EU, receipts from international tourism in 2008 were highest in Spain, France, and Italy, followed by Greece and Portugal.
Previous studies have attempted to explain destination and/or firm strategic positions by focusing on (mostly demand and supply side factors) prices, exchange rates, qualitative and other institutional factors.
The unique memorable experiences provided to customers directly determine a business’s and ultimately destination’s competitiveness. However, the extant tourism literature has provided limited explanation of the factors that characterize these memorable tourism experiences.
Why Experience?
● Because a trip is very high in experiential & hedonic characteristics
● Pine & Gilmore (1999) argued the emerging of an “experience economy” in which: companies personally engage consumers through staged events, experiences become offerings in the marketplace; and consumers’ hearts are captured by the memorability of the experience
Subject of Research
● Differences in Competitiveness of Regional Destination
● A business’s competitiveness is directly determined by the unique memorable experiences provided to customers.
● Therefore, it is important to investigate the impact that the experience’s perception and expectations can have on the diversification of tourism product & the competitiveness of international regional destinations
It is well known that Traveller’s perceptions of different destinations, their awareness of alternative options and their perception of the extent to which these destination’s services could fulfil their expectations are crucial to tourist flows. A destination’s services should adapt and change in a way that suits the evolving consumer’s preferences in order for these destinations to maintain and/or enhance their competitiveness.
Knowledge of tourist’s expectations, motivations, attitudes and differences among different cultural groups can create an environment within which by performing in an adaptive way, destinations will enhance their competitiveness. Therefore this research aims to offer the following contribution:
● Thorough literature review on the global tourism picture & the role of experience
● A novel approach by introducing a tourist’s enhanced role in defining the concept of experience
● Provide industry managers a generalized information on cross cultural differences
Intend do so by trying to
Evaluate the motivating experience factors that lead travellers from different cultural origins to different preferences when selecting their travel destination.
Examine traveller’s anticipations, motivations and attitudes while reinterpreting experiences in a cross cultural setting.
Assess the respective relevance and importance of the identified factors in the destination’s competitiveness as well as cross cultural influences and differences that lead to choosing differently while deciding to visit or revisit a destination.
This research will also try to address practical and theoretical implications as well as suggestions for future research.

Imagined Destinations: The Role of Subjectivity and Generative Potential of Lived Experiences in Adult English Learners' Paths to FluencyPalumbo, Christine January 2015 (has links)
Focusing on a Vygotskian theory of cultural historical psychology, this dissertation features a narrative analysis to examine the role of subjectivity and the generative potential and agency manifested in Non Native English Speaking Teachers' (NNESTs) successful development of L2 (English) fluency. My research creates another view of a Vygotskian theory by means of the imagination. Building on a cultural-historical approach, I conducted a qualitative analysis of how these teachers' pathway to fluency evolved from their Imagined Destinations. This term is defined as a goal or objective in the mind of the learner that mediates, and is mediated by, his or her lived experiences. The concept I coin as Imagined Destinations surfaced in my three initial pilot cases and took shape while working with NNES Panamánian teachers, from the analysis of online survey data with 27 of these experienced teachers, and detailed case study analyses of the language learning of eight of these teachers. These data revealed how participants dynamically create and recreate their environments through agentive roles that support the transformation of their environments to advance their goals. These transformations have implications for how subjectivity, agency, and acquisition of the target language intertwine throughout the participants' lived experiences or pathways to learning, thus providing an additional way to look at subjects and subjectivities within a Vygotskian theoretical frame. The findings also indicate that teachers' language trajectories are continuous, emergent, and the result of taking on very deliberate ecological roles in their bilingual success despite recurring salient and limiting circumstances. These findings about the centrality of Imagined Destinations in learning "smudges" the perception that societal power outweighs the dynamic and agentive roles of individuals as active molders of their lives. Finally, this dissertation also seeks to enrich scholarship by demonstrating how NNESTs use their bilingual identities built from their trajectories to bilingualism as ways to influence and inspire their own students' second language learning.

Employment and employability profiles of postgraduate psychology alumni from a historically disadvantaged universitySenekal, Janine January 2018 (has links)
Magister Artium - MA (Psychology) / The present study aimed to determine the employment and employability profiles of alumni
from structured professional Masters programmes in psychology. Issues of low enrolment
rates and high attrition rates are at the fore of transformation efforts in the South African
higher education sector. The concern of graduate employability and the relevance of skills
training received to the labour market are of international concern. Graduate tracer studies
have been successfully implemented internationally to attempt to understand these issues.
Training relevance is of particular concern for the field of psychology in South Africa, as
there is a significant shortage of mental health professionals. Understanding where graduates
from professional Masters degrees in psychology find employment, as well as understanding
their employability, may lead to greater absorption of graduates from these programmes into
the workforce. Permission to conduct the present study and ethics clearance was obtained
from the Senate Research Committee of the University of the Western Cape, and all relevant
ethics principles were adhered to. An incentivised, online survey was conducted with a
sample of 29 Masters-level graduates from two professional psychology programmes at a
historically disadvantaged university. The study used a modified version of the Standard
Instrument for Graduates. The survey had a 50% response rate (29 of 58) after at least four
electronic reminders. Respondents graduated between 2008 and 2013, 13 from the clinical
Masters programme and 16 from the research Masters programme. Descriptive statistics were
used to depict the employment and employability profiles of the alumni. Most of the
respondents were female (n=21), and about a third were first generation students (n=11).
Most of the respondents were currently employed (n=25). They were employed in a variety
of fields, predominantly health (n=10) and higher education (n=7), and largely clustered in
the public sector (n=17). This suggested a transferability of skills. The training received was
perceived to be relevant, in terms of accessing employment and conducting current work.
Most of the clinical graduates were registered as clinical psychologists (n=12) with the
Health Professionals Council of South Africa. There were varied registrations held by
graduates from the research programme and some were not registered. The respondents held
generally positive attitudes towards their alma mater. These descriptive results were
interpreted through the use of McQuaid and Lindsay's (2005) framework of employability,
based on the interaction between their individual factors, personal circumstances and external
factors. Through this frame, the results highlighted the complex nature of the employability
of these graduates.
