Employees' Perceptions of the Status and Effectiveness of the Training and Development System and of the Value of Training and DevelopmentKunder, Linda Holder 30 April 1998 (has links)
This study examines employees' perceptions of the training and development system in a large Federal government agency. Data come from a database built from a survey with over 3800 respondents. The survey is representative of five populations: executives, managers, supervisors, professional/ administrative and technical/clerical support staff.
The survey instrument used to measure employee' perceptions of the training and development system consisted of 68 items in three sections. Section I addressed demographic data, Section II addressed respondents' overall satisfaction with training and development and their perceptions of the training and development system's achievement of elements of effective training and development practice, and Section III addressed the content of training and training delivery methods. Sections II and III employed a Likert scale for respondents' rating of indicators of satisfaction with training and development and respondents' perceptions about the effectiveness of the training and development system.
This study provides conclusions about the factor structure underlying the indicators in the survey. It describes the relationships among employees' perceptions of the status and effectiveness of the training and development system and their perceptions of the value of training and development. The study also presents recommendations for further study and for training and development practice. / Ed. D.

Magistro darbe yra analizuojami draudimo įmonės darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemos teoriniai ir praktiniai aspektai. Darbo objektas yra AB “Lietuvos draudimas” darbuotojų nuomonė apie kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemą. Pagrindinis šio darbo tikslas yra atskleisti AB „Lietuvos draudimas“ darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemos problemas ir numatyti jos optimizavimo galimybes. Darbo tikslas lėmė ir atitinkamą darbo struktūrą, kurioje analizuojami teoriniai darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo pagrindai, įvertinama darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo specifika draudimo įmonėse, atliekamas AB „Lietuvos draudimas“ darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemos vertinimo tyrimas ir analizuojami gauti rezultatai bei formuluojamos rekomendacijos. The object of this work is „Lietuvos draudimas“ personnel‘s oppinion about qualification development system. The aim of this paper is to reveal the problems of personnel qualification development system of „Lietuvos draudimas“ and to formulate optimization possibilities. This aim has supposed the following structure of this work; it involves the analysis of theoretical aspects of personnel qualification development in insurance companies, also the evaluation of „Lietuvos draudimas“ qualification development is accomplished, results are analyzed and recommendations are formed. The aim of this work was accomplished with the help of qualitative and quantitative scientific research methods. The formed hypothesies are confirmed in a survey report: efficient personnel qualification development system is relevant factor, that determines personnel loyalty. It was estimated that personnel is satisfied with chosen fields of qualification development in insurance company, though the application of non-traditional methods is desiderated.

Toyota's product development system is designed to streamline the design of processes and products, as they often create restrictions on business and describes the importance of making use of a coordinated effort by several functions, and strives to integrate processes, people, technology and tools in an effective manner.</p><p> </p><p>The concept of Concurrent Engineering includes parallel efforts rather than a time-consuming serial work and seeks to minimize delays in the product development process. Like Toyota’s product development system, Concurrent Engineering promotes an integrated approach where multifunctional teams work towards a common goal striving to solve problems at an early stage.</p><p> </p><p>Propulsion and Control in Västerås, a division within Bombardier Transportation, is currently suffering from extensive engineering changes and struggles to uphold time plans and budgets. Internal documents regarding the company's current process has been reviewed and interviews have been carried out in order to evaluate the company’s current situation. During the thesis work a comparative study has been conducted at a large company within the Mälardalen-region. This study has been used as a practical example to reinforce the theoretical reasoning and has additionally allowed for further examination of a company's product development process.</p><p> </p><p>The thesis has resulted in a number of suggestions for improvements, where the main action areas are covered by cross-functionality, routines, follow-up, supplier involvement and prototypes. Knowledge and practices of supervisors on the performance management and development system at a primary health care facilities in the Greater Tzaneen Sub-district, Limpopo ProvinceMashego, Rosemary Hlulekle January 2016 (has links)
Thesis (MPH.) -- University of Limpopo, 2016. / The South African government has introduced PMDS as a tool to monitor and manage the performances of departments, institutions, teams and individuals in order to improve service delivery, and to counteract the legacy of poor performance. In order for the government to achieve this goal, PMDS implementers must be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills which will enable them to implement the system correctly, in compliance with the standards and procedures laid down in the government PMDS policy. The aim of the study was to determine the knowledge and practices of PMDS of supervisors who are tasked with the responsibility to supervise their subordinates.
Methods
A cross sectional descriptive quantitative study was carried out in the Greater Tzaneen Primary Health Care facilities. A total of 117 participants comprising of professional nurses, operational managers and assistant managers completed the questionnaires. These comprised largely of close-ended questions and some open- ended questions. Analysis of data was done using statistical software, SPSS 22.0 version and results were interpreted.
Results
Generally all the respondents had average (65.8%) understanding of the PMDS processes including the purpose and their roles as supervisors. However, a gap exists between the theoretical knowledge and the actual ability to practise PMDS which was found to be around 52%. There are areas of weakness that still need attention: unavailability of PMDS guidelines, lack of training of both supervisors and employees. Lastly, the nature of challenges which the respondents reported regarding PMDS implementation signifies that there might be underlying problems with PMDS which were not covered by this study, and these challenges, by far outweigh their confident knowledge and ability to practise PMDS.

Conclusion
To improve the knowledge and ability to supervise PMDS, the following recommendations were brought forth: proper induction of all PMDS supervisors and periodic in-service training, PMDS policy manuals as a source of reference to be made available in the facility and all supervisors to be orientated how to use them.

The dynamic changes in the manufacturing sector have increased the competition between the industries. To sustain these disruptive changes and maintain competitiveness in the global market, companies need to continually improve their production performance, successfully developing and implementing innovative production practices, and producing high-quality products in shorter lead times at optimum costs. The variations and fluctuations in customer demands can be satisfied by introducing new technologies into manufacturing systems, which brings in varying flexibility and agility character into production. Introduction of robots in manufacturing system have increased the productivity and quality of the processes. Effective and efficient programming helps achieve flexibility in the production process because the robot programming aids the robot to perform various tasks and motion. ABB RobotStudio is one type of offline programming and simulation software that helps in stimulating the robot using a Virtual Robot controller. The simulation tool lets users recreate the production environment and program a robot and calculate the cycle time without a real robot. This case study's objective is used to evaluate the aspect of simulation to be integrated into the case company's production development process and the use of simulation in optimizing the robot cell. Therefore, a case study was conducted at LEAX Group AB, a manufacturing industry. ABB RobotStudio was a tool used in this case study to simulate the existing production system. The empirical findings have shown the mapping of flow and process mapping of the robot cell in LEAX Group. The empirical part highlights the building of the existing simulation model of the robot cell. The challenges faced while simulating the model are also discussed. The analysis part highlights the optimization of the robot cell and the integration of the simulation model into the production development process. Finally, a conclusion has been drawn by answering two research questions, and a recommendation is given. The conclusion highlights the integration of simulation in the production development process and the process of optimizing the robot cell.

The development of each phase has its strategic position with different gradation. Moreover, in order to incorporate the operation for both Taiwan headquarter and China facility, divisions are segmented by operational functions for appropriate redeployment and valued-connection.
The core for developing this study have had the case company to implement ¡§The Toyota Way, through meticulous discussions in order to clarify the built-up of ¡¨The Toyota Way¡¨ in the case company. First, start from ¡§manufacturing perspective¡¨ from working fields, with Streamline Production and Just-In-Time production as basic capabilities to build up the strength. Furthermore, extend it to the system of ¡¨ Product Developing Process Management¡¨, and connect with Big-Room ¡§Obeya¡¨ activity, ¡§Preparation prior to mass production¡¨, ¡§Supplier Parts Tracking Team, SPTT¡¨, and ¡§Cost Management¡¨¡C Last, through the strategic plan of company operation and functions of TPS operation with Knowledge of Philosophy from System, Method and Nature, to develop a series of deep competitions for the strength of company enhancement.
