Kroniskt sjuka och utvecklingen av digitaliseringen inom vården - En kvalitativ studie om hur äldre personer med kroniska sjukdomar upplever digitalisering.

Sandell, Caroline, Shacham, Tove January 2019 (has links)
The increased influence of digitalizing in the Swedish healthcare is a change that some people find it hard to adapt to. For most youths and people from the younger generations this is not considered a problem, since they have been exposed to different aspects of digitalization throughout their lives. However, how do older people and especially older people with chronic diseases feel about the digitalization and the changes it brings? The purpose of this study is to explore how people with chronic diseases experience this progresses in the society that has contributed to the digitalization within healthcare and the increased utilization of digital platforms. Previous studies indicate that both the change in the doctor-patient relationship and the increased possibilities for patient to access health information from their homes, is an effect of the digitalization. In this study, which is conducted with a qualitative method, we come to understand that older people with chronic diseases find it difficult to adapt to the digitalization. None of the participants are opposing it, rather they experience the changes as complicated. Furthermore, the participants stress the prerequisite of the physical contact with a doctor to enable a correct medical assessment. Whether or not this means that health centers will be dismantled is still unknown. However, our study shows that there is no resistance to digitalization among the participants, provided it is executed in a correct and trustworthy manner.

Využití 3D skenování pro přípravu obrábění odlitků součástí parních turbín / Using 3D Scanning for the Preparation of Steam Turbines Cast Parts for Machining

Michalisko, Jan January 2012 (has links)
The technical paper deals with the application of 3D scanning for the preparation of cast machining which is a part of steam turbines manufactured by the Industrial Turbo machinery branch office of the Siemens Ltd. in Brno. There is a theoretic explanation of general terms which relate to the 3D digitization process in the first part. Further in the theoretic part, the used digitization systems TRITOP and ATOS are described in detail. In practical part, the analysis of the current process has been carried out and the alternate process of the cast preparation for a subsequent machining has been suggested. By means of above mentioned systems, the cast has been converted in a digital form and compared with the source CAD module. The comparison results in material allowance check and the suitable setting for a following machining process. In conclusion, the technical economic evaluation of both processes has been carried out.

A 3D Sub-Surface Characterisation of the Arnager Greensand, South-west Skåne / En 3D ytkarakterisering av Arnager Greensand, södra Sverige

Davies Jones, Gregory Marcel January 2019 (has links)
A surface characterisation of the Arnager Greensand in south Sweden, a deep saline aquifer found to be suitable for geological storage of CO2 or energy storage, was undertaken in this thesis. Vintage seismic reflection data only available as scanned tiff images of the final stacked sections were digitized and processed using modern interpretation software to provide new insights into the morphology of the Arnager Greensand and to analyse the reservoir’s potential as an energy storage unit. The primary energy storage method discussed and evaluated was Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES). This is a modern energy storage method developed as a tool for regulating inherently intermittent renewable energy sources. Such methods are key to the growth of the renewable sector and for providing a competitive alternative to fossil fuels. Moreover, in comparison with other energy storage methods such as battery storage, CAES is known to have strong potential to deliver highperformance energy storage at large scales for relatively low costs compared with any other solution. Previous studies conducted in the 1980’s by Swedegas produced a 2D isochrone surface map of the Arnager Greensand by hand interpolation methods utilizing analogue data collected by Oljeprospektering AB (OPAB, currently Svenska Petroleum). The Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) has now transferred a vast amount of the historical OPAB dataset to modern digital format. This thesis contributes to those efforts and seeks to find new interpretations from the vintage data. A more comprehensive 3D model of the top of the Arnager Greensand employing the application of modern interpretation software was produced in this study. Strong similarities between morphology and dip-trend have been observed between the surface model generated in this report and the historical Swedegas isochrone surface map. Reservoir properties such as thickness, porosity and permeability gleaned from the earlier reports show the Arnager Greensand to exhibit excellent potential as a storage unit. Preliminary effective capacity estimates by Nordic CCS Competence centre show the Aranger Greensand to be one of the top three storage aquifers in Sweden. These positive appraisals highlight the need for a better characterization of the Aranger Greensand through data digitization and modern interpretation means. This thesis contributes to that endeavour.

Beyond IT and Productivity : Effects of Digitized Information Flows in the Logging Industry

Kollberg, Maria January 2005 (has links)

The IT and productivity paradox has been the subject of considerable research in recent decades. Many previous studies, based mainly on macroeconomic statistics or on aggregated company data, have reached disparate conclusions. Consequently, the question whether IT investments contribute to productivity growth is still heavily debated. More recent research, however, has indicated that IT contributes positively to economic development but that this contribution is not fully revealed when only productivity is measured.

To explore the issue of IT and productivity further, the ITOP (Impact of IT On Productivity) research program was launched in 2003. An alternative research approach is developed with the emphasis on the microeconomic level and information flows in processes in specific industry segments. In the empirical study, the development of information flows is tracked over several decades. Effects of digitized information flows are hereby identified and quantified in order to determine their importance in terms of productivity.

The purpose of this study is to explore effects of information technology by studying digitized information flows in key processes in the logging industry. The research shows that several information flows in the logging process have been digitized leading to new ways to capture, use, spread, process, refine and access information throughout the logging process. A large variety of effects have also been identified from this development.

The results show that only a minor part of the effects identified have a direct impact on productivity and thus that a large number of significant effects do not. Effects with a major direct impact on productivity include increased efficiency in timber measurement registration, lower costs of timber accounting and increased utilization of harvesters and forest resources. Other significant effects with no direct impact on productivity are related to a more open timber market, increased timber customization, control, decision-making and access to information, as well as skill levels and innovation. The results thus demonstrate that it is questionable whether conventional productivity measures are sufficient for measuring the impact of IT.
/ ISRN/Report code: LiU-Tek-Lic-2005:40

Free Form Incident Light Fields

Unger, Jonas, Gustavson, Stefan, Per, Larsson, Ynnerman, Anders January 2008 (has links)
This paper presents methods for photo-realistic rendering using strongly spatially variant illumination captured from real scenes. The illumination is captured along arbitrary paths in space using a high dynamic range, HDR, video camera system with position tracking. Light samples are rearranged into 4-D incident light fields (ILF) suitable for direct use as illumination in renderings. Analysis of the captured data allows for estimation of the shape, position and spatial and angular properties of light sources in the scene. The estimated light sources can be extracted from the large 4D data set and handled separately to render scenes more efficiently and with higher quality. The ILF lighting can also be edited for detailed artistic control.

Entrepreneurship and Digitization of News Media in a Transition Economy : Case Study on Novaya gazeta, Russia

Khozroshyna, Kateryna, Gushchina, Nadezda January 2012 (has links)
The increased amounts of Internet users, emergence of new technologies that allow content digitization, create an entrepreneurial opportunity for news media to go online. However, the process of digitization has been happening at a different pace in different regions of the world. To understand the keys to success and to learn on mistakes, it is important to understand what are the factors that affect entrepreneurship and digitization of news media. The purpose of this study is to investigate the news media sector in Russia in terms of digitization of the newspaper content and entrepreneurial activities associated with this. After conducting a case study on online newspaper Novaya gazeta in Russia, authors conclude that transition economy factors have an impact on digitization of newspapers in Russia. Specifically these factors are state’s involvement in the business sector, political and economical conditions in the market and risk- averse entrepreneurs who run newspapers in transition economies. / Uppsök subject category: Business Administration; Economics

Establishment of trustworthiness in the digitization project'International Dunhuang Project' : Authenticity and transparency / Digitalisering och trovärdighet: The International Dunhuang Project

Terzi, Paschalia January 2015 (has links)
Cultural institutions that hold unique and valuable physical items only for restricted access untilnow are experiencing a change that demands them to take up the role of information providers aswell. International Dunhuang Project is a digitization project that has been taken as an example toinvestigate this phenomenon and more particularly issues of trustworthiness and how it can beestablished in the digital environment. Two concepts have been found to form the basis of itsassessment in the online world, authenticity and transparency. Authenticity is a concept borrowedfrom the existing practice of cultural institutions like museums and archives but transparency is anew demand that has come along with internet and the WWW. Through the examination ofcomponents of IDP's website like online documents, metadata and images along with interviewswith the producers of the project, an attempt has been made to understand how trustworthiness isperceived by the producers of the project and how they have implemented it on the material of theirwebsite. /
Acknowledgments:I would like to thank the staff of the International Dunhuang Project, Ms. Susan Whitfield, Ms. VicSwift, Ms. Emma Goodliffe and Mr. Sam van Schaik for all the support they have offered meduring my stay at the British Library. Bibliothekarischer Exhibitionismus?

Schneider, Ulrich Johannes 21 July 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Was also bringt deren Veröffentlichung online?

A usability study of the SAMAP web site.

Kutumela, Lesiba. January 2011 (has links)
The goal of this research was to conduct a usability study on Digital Innovation’s (DISA) South African Music Archive Project (SAMAP) website. In order to achieve this goal, it was very important to first (1) understand more fully the expectations of potential users and then (2) to identify any mismatches between the proposed Dublin Core system and users’ search techniques. Many researchers have pointed out that a system that is not easy to use, does not match user requirements, and ignores usability studies is likely to fail (Pearrow, 2000; del Galdo & Nielsen, 1996; Shneiderman & Plaisant, 2005; Kuniavsky, 2003). This study was conducted at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College Campus in Durban, South Africa. A qualitative research method was chosen for this study within an eclectic-mixed methods-pragmatic paradigm which favours multiple data collection research instruments to collect data. Data collected was mostly of a qualitative nature and has been interrogated using NVivo™. The patterns that emerged out of this study will establish a better understanding of multi-disciplinary online music archives and website designs. A discussion of the findings and recommendations are presented in the final chapter of this dissertation, but essentially the study demonstrates the need to more fully understand user requirements before development takes place. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2011.
