Multimedia in E-LearningMast, Kimberly 05 1900 (has links)
Multimedia in E-Learnign and Cognitive Overload / Multimedia has infused itself into all aspects of education be it online, distance or in the face-to-face classroom. Its presence has become ubiquitous in education and yet has it really benefitted students to the degree it could? This paper utilizes a review of the literature to define the role of multimedia in e-learning then looks at how multimedia fits into basic pedagogy, learning theory and learning styles. An examination of how multimedia optimally could be incorporated into the curriculum is also conducted. Finally a look at cognitive overload is undertaken to determine if there is such as thing as too much of a good thing; can instructors end up confusing students with poorly designed multimedia presentations? There are many tools to use to present multimedia lessons however, this does not mean they all need to be used in a single lesson, and selecting the right multimedia tool, and content is imperative to ensure learning goals are met. Careful selection and attention to instructional design remains the key determinant in successful learning models and the incorporation of multimedia should be used with basic instructional pedagogy in mind.

Varför hoppa av Komvux : En studie om varför elever på kommunal vuxenutbildning avbryter sina studier. / Why quit Adult EducationHall, Jennica, Hulsin, Maria January 2013 (has links)
Being able to study at the Municipal Adult Education, Komvux, is a privilege available to adults in Sweden of age 20 and above. Although almost 200 000 people attended Komvux 2011 in Sweden, a fifth of the participants discontinued their studies before completing their course(s). This becomes costly for the society, but it is also diminishes the future chances of a career and college studies. In our thesis we have done a quantitative investigation trying to determine what the reasons for dropping out could be. A request to participate in our survey were sent out to all 64 people who dropped out one or more courses during the fall semester 2012 at a Municipal Adult Education in southern Norrland. Almost half, 32 people, agreed to participate. The results indicated that most students applied to Komvux because they were lacking complete exams of high school or part of it. According to the home-background, most of the 32 pupils came from homes where none of the parents had a college degree. One third of the pupils in the survey dropped out because of work related reasons. More than half of those who had dropped off studied a distance learning course, or a combination of distance and regular courses.

Možnosti a perspektivy e-learningového vzdělávání v celoživotním vzdělávání sester / Possibilities and Prospects of E-learning in Lifelong Education of NursesPETERKOVÁ, Blanka January 2014 (has links)
Czech health care and nursing is undergoing a significant transformation during the last years and it touches the changes in the education of health professionals. There are changing demands on the training, on the knowledge level and also on the graduate profile in accordance with the recommendations of the Europlan Union. Following these recommendations the requirements of lifelong education of nurses are also profiled. E-learning education is an important tool in use in the educational process of nursing and an effort to use processes of nursing care based on evidence. The aim of the study was to determine how nurses use e-learning in lifelong education and whether nurses prefer classical forms of education to e-learning, to map whether they have possibilities of e-learning within the facilities they work in and whether there is a sufficient supply of e-learning courses supporting lifelong education of nurses in the Czech Republic. The last goal of the study was to create an e-learning course focused on specific problems at the orthopedic ward of the Hospital Tábor, a.s. In relation to the objectives the following hypotheses were designed: H1-Nurses with university education use e-learning more than non-graduates. H2-Nurses with university education consider e-learning in clinical practice for more beneficial than traditional forms of education, unlike non-graduate nurses. H3-Nurses with clinical practice shorter than 5 years prefer e-learning more often than nurses with practice longer than 5 years. For the thesis was selected a quantitave survey form using anonymous questionnaries that were distributed electronically to the individual clinical departments. The research sample consisted of registered nurses according to Act 96/2004 Coll., As amended, from specialized outpatient clinical departments of 16 providers of medical facilities in the Czech Republic. The questionnaries were processed by matrix method in Excel 2013 and the results were converted into graphs and tables using descriptive statistics. A statistical evaluation of hypotheses was made as well. Hypotheses were tested by chi-square test in contingency tables. The selected level of significance was 5%.Results: Nurses mostly use e-learning to get professional information for nursing care. The most common reason for not using or even rejection of e-learning by nurses is that this form of education does not suit them. Most nurses do not have the opportunity to e-learning in facilities where they work and also they cannot implement the knowledge gained by e-learning. The offer of e-learning courses over time is constantly changing and evolving, some courses have even completely disappeared. A course offer is sufficient, although nurses miss some types of courses. There was to create an e-learning course "Collection of biological material, or how not make mistakes in the pre-analytic phase" focusing on specific problematic aspects of blood collection within the medical facility Hospital Tábor,a.s. The results of the survey will be together with the e-learning course given to the leading management of the Hospital Tábor,a. s.

During 2002 to 2006, the ladder digital company were rapidly ripening e-learning products as well as e-learning market. This individual case revealed: under a circumstance of new industry (digital content) and new market (the global network and the rise of Pan-China market), together with the flexible and agile characteristics, Taiwan small and medium enterprises were braved in adventure and dared to have a stunning dream of creating the Chinese’s global brand; with such a ventured spirit, it hastened an innovative model of ladder’s business, so emerged the ripening of the newly and particularly dynamic process.
In the ripening process, it emerged from the creative spirit, opportunity identification, orientation, resource application, and strategy option to the new valued innovation contexts, from which the innovative foundation that came down in one continuous line, but also in a different way, can be found from the creative course about thirty years prior to the ladder digital company. Within a very short time, ladder’s individual case had created a high peak of digital content business. The ladder 100.com e-learning course created a massive yield, and substantially shortens the process from opportunity identification to value creation, during which the ripening key point consists in nimble used of internal and external resources. Because of the issue of resource management, therefore, it resulted in the ripening out of control, so as to pay out an expensive cost. In the process of creative emergence of the ladder100.com, it became a precious lessen for the development of digital industry.
The ladder digital company created the “hastened the ripening” in the e-learning industry and development, and ripens the 4th year creation crisis. In the whole process, what we may see is not only Taiwan’s e-learning industry and digital-content industry, but also the opportunity and challenge of Taiwan’s knowledge-based industry.

This diploma thesis is trying to critically look at education via e-learning, with the main topic being the possibilities which (with elaborated learning strategy) this form of education is able to offer. E-learning, in this work, is set into a society-wide context of education in the 21st century with regards to demographic development of the Czech population. Apart from the introduction and description of the main parts of e-learning courses, the thesis focuses on the creation process of these courses as such. Company/corporate experience, which is particularly beneficial here, is being widely used throughout this thesis. We consider it very important to theoretically elaborate on the term of 'creative learning' and show its contribution to the description of possibilities of e-learning in education. Afterwards, in the practical part, we focus on researching e-learning in chosen companies; in which we are trying to outline which way and how effectively e-learning is being used at chosen institutions. Key words: e-learning, e-learning course, education, e-learning possibilities, creative learning, corporate practice, education strategy.

Previous issue date: 2014-10-15 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research is part of the Graduate Program in Education: Curriculum of Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, in the research line New Technologies in Education. Performed in the context of Network São Paulo Program of Teacher Training - REDEFOR, the research aimed to analyze the accessibility adequacies implemented in teaching materials of an e-learning course for production of e-Book accessible to people with visual disabilities in order to suggest references for the production of other materials in the same format. The theoretical background was based on aspects related to people with visual disabilities, e-learning, accessibility to digital materials, description, audio description, normative references of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and accessible e-Book. Adopting a qualitative approach, the procedures for data collection included document analysis, semi-structured interviews with two individuals who were responsible for the description of the REDEFOR course materials, and the researcher inferences as part of the team. Data analysis was performed from three categories: flow and team work, work development, and future suggestions and recommendations. It was observed that the production of an accessible e-Book with regard to the team work, resembles the production and management of e-learning courses, and therefore requires a multidisciplinary team. The survey also showed that it is important to predict during the planning and development of e-learning courses, the suitability of the materials to make them accessible. Finally, references were made for production of digital materials in e-Book format, accessible to people with visual disabilities, such as: perform image description mainly considering the context in which it is inserted and your goal in the material; avoid attributing value judgment about the description carried out; be impartial and succinct in describing, focusing only for what is essential to its understanding; keep the images in the material and have their embedded description via Alt tag , which allows access and recognition by screen readers; for videos should use audio description, subtitles and window for Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS); simplify the tables and charts, as far as possible, so that one can describe its contents; and describe symbols only when their use is not merely illustrative or iconic, or in case of show some damage for the material if it was abolished. The recommendations presented emphasize both the implementation of new actions to put the materials in an accessible way for existing e-learning courses, and for disseminating the culture and the habit of producing materials with accessibility, contributing to inclusion of all / A presente pesquisa insere-se no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação: Currículo da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, na linha de pesquisa Novas Tecnologias em Educação.
