Study of the 'post genetic' : Emily Brontë's 'EJB' notebook, 1844 to the present

Ayrton, Patricia Anne January 2018 (has links)
Emily Brontë began transcription of two poetry notebooks in February 1844. The title of one, 'Gondal Poems' is self-explanatory in its content and focus. But the purpose of the second, simply headed 'EJB. Transcribed Febuary [sic] 1844' has never been fully explored. It has not been recognised as a discrete piece of work, nor has it been printed in a complete edition of Emily's work with the exact text, and in the sequence in which she created it. In this thesis I ask what Emily's composition of her EJB notebook reveals about her as a writer and thinker, and why readers have never had the opportunity to read the poems in the context that she created for them. Chapter One examines the critical history of the poems, and here I describe the 'lexicon' created by Charlotte Brontë, Emily's first posthumous editor, through which much of Emily's work is still interpreted. I propose that the continued use of elements of this 'lexicon' impedes a recognition of Emily as a rigorous intellectual and thinker. In Chapter Two I show how a sequential reading of the EJB poems places her within her contemporary intellectual world. I propose that her purposeful creation of the notebook provides evidence of an engagement with the philosophies and literature of early nineteenth-century Europe, and reveals not only a profound understanding of the thought-systems of the time, but also a capacity to use those systems to develop a unique philosophy through poetry, a philosophy which she then employed in her creation of Wuthering Heights. The EJB holograph is not currently available for examination but this investigation is supported by my own transcription of the notebook which is based on a set of photographs taken over eighty years ago. Chapters Three, Four and Five are supported by a series of 'post genetic' diagrams which describe the textual development of the poems from the first publication of fifteen of them in 1846, to the most recent collected edition published in 1995. These chapters elucidate the effects of the activities and decisions of the editors, collectors and scholars who have influenced the texts and the presentations of the poems since the beginnings of transcription in 1844. This thesis proposes that in creating her EJB notebook Emily constructed a discrete piece of work which should stand alone as evidence of her distinctive philosophical engagement with her contemporary intellectual world. It demands a new vocabulary through which to interpret Emily and her work, and it requires an end to the 'lexicon' which has shaped Emily Brontë scholarship since her death in 1848. The evidence presented in this thesis supports the need for a new and definitive edition of Emily's poems, and particularly for a contextual presentation of the EJB notebook. This will enable a new conception of her as a systematic, methodical and abstract thinker, a philosopher-poet who has engaged with some of the foremost ideas of the early nineteenth-century.

Modèle d'Administration des Systèmes Distribués à Base de Composants

Al Masri, Nada 25 March 2005 (has links) (PDF)
Component-Oriented Systems are increasingly evolving and being adopted by both industrial and academic worlds. They have resulted from the advances achieved in both software engineering and distributed systems. Component models such as JavaBeans, COM, CORBA were presented as reusable components that can be composed together to get a complete software. At the same time, advances in distributed systems lead to another type of component models such as EJB, DCOM and CCM that treat the distribution as their main objective. Platforms conforming to these models support a number of middleware services that facilitates the distribution without explicit intervention from the system developers. These platforms can be seen as dedicated hosting servers of the applications' components. In our works, we concentrate on the EJB component model; we present an administration platform for a federation of servers cooperating to host a number of applications. The federation includes different servers with different configurations, characteristics, services and resources. Our main objective is to manage the deployment of EJB components in the federation depending on their needs to the available resources and services offered by the servers. The proposed administration platform is based on the JMX instrumentation platform. We propose a 3-level instrumentation model to collect management information from 3 environment levels: network and system low level, application server level, and components level. The administration platform gets all necessary information about the execution environment from this instrumentation platform modeled in 3 levels where all the elements are also modeled as managed objects. Furthermore, the administration platform defines a number of services to control the deployment management in the federation such as a migration service, EJB evaluation service, and EJB instrumentation service. Beside these services, we define a number of rules to consider while taking decision concerning the deployment process and the communication between the application servers. To apply a non-centralized management over the nodes of the federation, we propose deploying the administration services on all servers in the federation to get a distributed management.

Mitt Fotbollslag : En mobilapplikation för fotbollslag

Malmsten Pedersen, Henrik January 2015 (has links)
Samtliga funktioner i kravspecifikationen uppfylldes. De slutsatser som kan dras är att informationsteknologi åtminstone kan förenkla vardagen för vissa fotbollslag. / During recent years the mobile application market has seen an explosive growth. Many of the applications are designed to simplify everyday life for people. Football is the largest sport in the world and many people devote a part of their everyday life to organized amateur-level football. The goal of this project was to investigate how information technology could simplify the administration of amateur-level football clubs. The initial idea was to develop an mobile applicationfor Android. The method that was used in the project was a classic objectoriented development model with the phases Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation and Test. A questionaire was created in order to find out the most usable features. The questionaire was answered by football coaches i the swedish 7th division and formed the basis of the requirement specification for the indended mobile application. Additional features like logging were identified as vital for the project and were also added to the requirement specification. The application was developed based on the features identified in the requirement specification. A test was designed and executed in order to ensure that the requirements were met. All features in the requirement specification were met. The conclusionis that information technology can simplify everyday life at least for some football clubs.

以XML框架發展開放性財務報表之系統模型

劉展嘉 Unknown Date (has links)

EDOC to EJB transformations within MDA

Gall, Dariusz, Molenda, Michał January 2005 (has links)
The Model Driven Architecture is a proposition of the framework of software development process where main accent is put on system models, i.e. platform independent and platform dependent models, and transformations between them. Applying the MDA is related with preparation of these two types of assets. In the thesis, the EDOC and the EJB platform are considered as an examples of platform-independent and platform dependent models. In order to complete this picture, additionally transformations between these two models are required. The authors focus in the thesis on transformations. In particular, the authors present the transformation specification description, and specify set of transformations between the EDOC and EJB models. The transformations are narrowed to the subset of structural aspects of the EDOC models.
