Previous issue date: 2015-02-26 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / This research proposes to analyze, from the viewpoint of the Axel Honneth?s Critical Social Theory, the permanency educated and attendee adolescents in the EJA. Objectively, this study intends to understand how the assumptions implied in the student development are applied in the establishment of the relations that make the recognition. In same way, to identify what types and manners the recognition is established in schools how youths and adults. Also, since the establishment of these forms of recognition contribute to the permanence of these students in school. The research is in the field of theoretical research and develops an analysis from experiences lived by the author. The relationships established at school points to three recognition spheres operating: the loving recognition, legal and community values. It can be inferred that the school is acting as recognition factor for students, even if unintentionally. In the Youth and Adult Education was observed that, on the one hand, some recognition relationships are established, on the other writs are.

Previous issue date: 2015-12-18 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / This research of qualitative approach used the collective case study method and aimed to understand the meanings that the mature adult learners of EJA educational modality ? from Portuguese, ?Educa??o de Jovens e Adultos?? attributed to the resumption of formal education as well as their perceptions of the changes from this educational method. The sample consisted of four adult learners, regulars of the second year of high school, the Youth and Adults Educational Modality (EJA), a school institution of the federal public schools of Porto Alegre/Rio Grande do Sul, in the age group between 47 and 68 years, civil servants of a federal institution of higher education and recipients of scholarship. The data collection was carried out in the school attended by the thesubjects of this study, through semi-structured interview, recorded on audio and later transcribed by the researcher; building a timeline of the history of the students investigated; observations in the classroom; consultation and analysis of the political-pedagogical project of the educational institution for adult education. For data analysis was used Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA), based especially on Bioecological Theory of Human Development. The results pointed to the emergence of two categories: educational experiences in the EJA modality and nuisances caused by the educational process in adult education, way of revealing the universe experienced by the subjects in formal education and that reverberated in various spheres and contexts of their lives. These senses were guided up by motivations, difficulties, existence of a network of social and emotional support to stay in EJA, future expectations as well as changes manifested in cognitive spheres, behavioral, psychosocial and lifestyle habits of respondents. The production of meanings for the subjects was mediated by constant intercommunication between Micro, Meso,Exo and macro systems, represented by the mutual relations and the social and emotional support in the resumption of the formal education process. Moreover, they accounted for healthy development processes, with cognitive changes, behavioral, psychosocial and positive lifestyle habits in the lives of respondents. The theoretical perspective adopted intended to bring a new bias in the approach to the adult learners who seek adult education beyond any stigma or prejudice in seeking other components of this type of education, and especially the education of mature adults, overtaking its understanding only from the educational perspective, guided by the principles of repair, qualification and equalization. The intention was to bring to discussion aspects that reflected in a significant and latent way, the lives and backgrounds of these people, from transforming experiences in a systematic and continuous approach to development. Also, highlighting the importance of a network of social and emotional support in this dynamic where different processes, people and contexts articulate, in an attempt to allow forms and ways for all people, regardless of age, experience situations that empower changes in their lives.

As observa??es ocorreram
cidade do Natal/RN.
A observa??o do cotidiano escolar permite
The necessity of the view of the Youth and Adults Education (EJA) subjects
beyond of their academic failures becomes imperative for a reconfiguration of
this teaching modality. Thus, the compromise of this study is to go into these
subjects? universe, give them a voice and, therefore, understand, in general, the
web of relationships between these subjects and the school. It is understood
that it is not possible to figure out the means attributed by the subjects without
consideration, as an essential element, the social context in which such means
has been built. For the development of this study, the methodology adopted
was the ethnographic research. The procedures used for the data construction
were the participative observation, the semi-structured interviews with a focal
group, and the individualized semi-structured interviews. For the understanding
of the data constructed in the field, the content analysis technique was used,
which reach the expectations of an interpretative analysis. The observation
occurred mainly in the classrooms, on a public school, located in a City of
Natal/RN. The interviews were taken with a sample of eight students, males and
females, with 25 to 60 year-olds. Such interviews highlight that for the young
adult students, the school is much more than a place to learn. They realize such
space as enabler of social interaction, as well as the possibility of rising through
new professional horizons and, therefore achieve a social mobility. For the older
students, mainly among women, the return to the school benches brings into
the learning discourse, the desire of making new friends, having moments of
meeting, chatting and relaxation, finally, to forget the problems of the day by
day. The school quotidian observation allows a better understanding of the
action of the subjects in relationship with the school practices. Finally, it can be
affirmed that seeking for the school has not only the intention to recover the
time lost in the childhood. Learning remains as a secondary goal. It does not
matter whether they will be retained or promoted to the next level at the end of
the academic year, what really matters is to be in school.

This article aims to investigate the professional identity of the teachers of the Education of Young and Adults (EJA) at Ferreira Itajub? Municipal School, in Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte. Through this research it is possible to comprehend the repercussion of teachers? immersion in the EJA modality, the professional qualification, based on identity concepts (GIDDENS, 2002; HALL, 2011; 2014; CASTELLS, 2008; BAUMAN, 2013) and teaching (TARDIF; LESSARD, 2012; ARROYO, 2000, 2006; PERRENOUD, 1997). All the data was analysed by the methodology of the comprehensive interview. The data was collected by asking semi-open questions to the teachers who worked in the 3rd and 4th levels of this modality in this school. The content analysis (BOGDAN; BIKLEN, 1994; BARDIN, 2011) ranked data in seven topics: formation, which is related to the graduation choice; why to be a teacher, which analyzes the reasons that led to the teaching career; arrival at EJA, which reveals how teachers got into this modality; to be an EJA teacher, which search the meanings of the teachers in the profession; idea about EJA, which is related to how teachers see this modality, EJA dream, related to a modality idealized by the teachers; and the EJA student, which shows teachers and students relationship. The issues were addressed in two analysis categories: teaching admission and EJA insertion. In the end of the study, these categories showed the conflict between personal and professional spheres experienced by the teachers, revealing that EJA insertion has contributed to a social role unveiling as educator and reassert the identity as a teacher.

This research had as object of study the social representations on education built by young people and adults in situations of deprivation of liberty. We seek, therefore, to know how these populations represent this symbolic object and relate to the same. We seek also from there, identify factors that facilitate or hinder the development of educational practices of adult education in prisons. Therefore, we use as a foundation the theory of Social Representations (MOSCOVICI, 1978; JODELET, 2001). As for the methodological aspects, the field of observation restricted to the State Penitentiary Licorice, Dr. Francisco Nogueira Fernandes and the main source of data collection was the semi structure interview, used to support the technique of free association of words and expressions, rather used in the research of social representations, followed by a roadmap of policy issues. Given the conditions of realization of field research, which coincided with a time of riots in prisons, were only ten subjects interviewed, among those who have had experience with educational processes within the prison number, however, it proved to be very suitable for the research objectives. Analysis of the interviews was conducted with the support of the content analysis method, taking as unit of analysis the subject and the construction of categorical (BARDIN, 1977; FRANCO, 2005; OLIVEIRA, 1995). The results revealed the construction and sharing, the subject of a predominant social representation of education and their guide function for action, indicating different attitudes and behavior prescriptions. In polyphasia of representational content there is the reproduction of the hegemonic sense of education and the absolute limitation period for his redemptive role. Other findings related to school history, the peculiarities of educational processes in prison and the teacher / student relationship in this context contribute to emphasize the particularities of this type of education and, at the same time, strengthen the findings disseminated by the literature about the different forms of violence they are subjected to the detainees and the absence or weakness of state intervention and of society itself to ensure the assertion of such a basic right as access to formal education.

Previous issue date: 2009-12-16 / Although there are several programs for teaching youths and adults, illiteracy is still a major problem in the Brazilian population. The objective of this research was to investigate how illiteracy is set by the subject illiterate and the impact of these settings in your way of perceiving, feeling and acting. To this end, we adopted the theory of subjectivity Rey Gonzalez with the liberation theory of Paulo Freire, as media theorists who can provide a new understanding of the literacy process. In the methodological aspect, the epistemology of qualitative Gonzalez Rey was established as a contribution to research and the way in which they made use of tools such as: observations, interviews, meetings/classes. The results of the survey was able to access directions and indicators of illiteracy on the subject as to be regarded as a stand must be able to write his own name, feel welcome and have academic knowledge. It was also possible to access process indicators of literacy designed by the participants as a moment that should improve its quality, enabling them to express their wishes and problems, based on dialogue and respect for differences. The analysis showed also the importance of language in the process as a means of recovering the historical and social subject that each represented, constituting a subsidy to build some important principles of a proposal for a literacy-focused subject.

Previous issue date: 2011-08-25 / This research is a comparative study with the aim of analyzing how is being developed the PROEJA at Federal Institute of Science, Technology and Education of Rio Grande do Sul - IFRS - Campus Sert?o and Bento Gon?alves, as the development of courses, more specifically the Technical Course in Commerce, based on the vision of students. The EJA deals with young people and adults in the lower classes, people excluded of the socioeconomic and cultural aspects in our contemporary society, historically, "marked" by deep social inequalities. Given this context, appeared the concern and the main reason of this research. Sought, thus, making a correlation between the methodological approach, teaching practice and the educational background of the citizens served by this type of education. The Decree 5.478/2005 instituted, in the Federal Institutions of Education (IFE's), the professional program in the form of adult education that changed by decree in 5.840/2006 defines the National Programme for Integration of Professional Education from Basic Education to Professional Education for Youth and Adults Education (PROEJA). This program brings to the IFE's a new challenge, which is to serve a population that did not get the opportunity to have a good basic and professional education in the regular age. Using the research-type exploratory and descriptive characteristics and the study of case methodology, recovering and analyzing the strategies of operation of these Institutions of Professional and Technical Education, data was analyzed and compared, using a questionnaire, applied to a class in each Campus of Technical Course in Commerce, seeking to discover if, these have consistently favoring and increasing the social inclusion process. The results point to some practical differences between the Campi, noting some contradictions, especially, in regard to fulfilling their goals and the articulation between theoretical class and the preparation for the labor market. It was found that each institution adopt different criteria, based on conceptions of the group that is directly connected to the courses. Another contradiction identified between the two experiences, is about understanding that each community school has about this kind of teaching called PROEJA. The results found that, in general, there is harmony of purpose between the institutions, although they have not been developed activities that may seek to approach similar methods of work.

Previous issue date: 2012-05-22 / The present research, characterized as a case study, had as design to analyze the problematic
of the evasion in the process of implantation of the National Program of Integration of the
Professional Education with the Basic Education in the modality of Young and Adult
Education (PROEJA) in the Instituto Federal Baiano Campus Guanambi. The proposal of
Decree n? 5.840/06, that regulates the PROEJA, is to create opportunities to the people that
not had access to the educational system in the age considered ?adequate? the basic education
tied with the professional formation conclusion, as well as the individuals? integral formation.
However, it was observed that many of the individuals that entered the Campus Guanambi?s
Technical Course in Computer Science (PROEJA) did not obtain to conclude high school,
running away itself in elapsing of the course. In this context it was inquired: which the student
profile attended for the PROEJA? Which the difficulties that they face to study? The choice
of the Technical Course in Computer Science came from young and adult necessity? The
teachers have been prepared to deal with this public? Which the reasons that had unleash
school evasion? To answer these questions, a research of qualitative matrix was become
fulfilled using documentary research, semistructuralized questionnaires applied to the teachers
who gave lessons in the first semester of 2011 in the groups of the PROEJA and to the
students of the groups 2009, 2010 and 2011 and interviews with the run away ones in these
years. The research?s data proved that great part of the PROEJA?s students have high school
and that the Technical Course in Computer Science was chosen by the Institution itself. It also
noticed that the majority of the teachers had experience with EJA students in the Campus
PROEJA?s groups only and that the institution has not offered courses of qualification in this
education mode. Among the reasons that had led the school evasion it was perceived that the
main ones were difficulties in technical area subjects, unfeasibility in conciliating work and
school activities, lack of incentive of the teachers, problems with the transport and fatigue. In
this context, it was perceived necessity of the Campus to review offers of the Technical
Course in Computer Science, for this it is crucial a study of demand next to the target-public.
It was identified that the teaching qualification makes necessary, so that the involved
professionals in this process can realize the young and adult specificities and adequate their
practical education. The spaces and times organization for courses PROEJA also is something
that needs to be rethought because many students have to conciliate work and school and the
institution places distant of the urban perimeter, causing problems related to the transport
constantly.
Adultos (PROEJA) no Instituto Federal Baiano - Campus Guanambi. A proposta do Decreto
curso. Quais

Previous issue date: 2016-09-14 / This research addresses Minerva Project Radio via a Distance Education program, as a preparatory course, transmitted in the period 1970-1989, in order to prepare young people and adults to provide the supplementary exam of 1st and 2nd degree. His placement began in 1970, under ministerial decree, originated during the government of President Emilio Medici Garrastazu. The program, broadcast daily on national television by all radio stations, as determined by the Brazilian State in specific time. The programs are generated on Radio MEC, retransmitted in national chain, the other stations. The research goal is to analyze the Minerva Project in Sergipe, the contributions that this program has brought to education in the state and in Brazil. The survey is conducted with methodological support, anchored in the micro-story of Carlo Ginzburg that is based on the evidentiary method. Presents the contributions of technology in the process, citing a radio history, its discovery the arrival in Brazil, the uses that made this tool since the 1930s, and present broadcasting in Brazil and Sergipe, and the System Educational Broadcasting of the Ministry of Education. The structure of the Minerva Project consists of a set of federal, state and municipal institutions, where each one has a role in the process. Two elements draw attention to its importance in the process: the figure of the Monitor and the radio technology without these, the process becomes unworkable. However in the category organization and administration of the project, we highlight the structure, training professionals, the spread of classes, the curriculum, the role of Monitor, and finally, the use of supplementary courses exams as student assessment. Another important point is the review of number six, which contains a class with the discipline of Portuguese Language, focusing on grammar, and a lesson in social studies, emphasizing that each program radiated two disciplines. The study approach pervade two concepts presented as a category of analysis: the reception, according to Pierre Bourdieu (1997), focusing on "preconceived ideas" and educational policy, visiting the studies of Joseph Wilington Germano (2011). The sources that make up the research, in addition to the literature, are:
interviews, documents stored in INEP libraries, local newspapers and Daily Official of the
Union The conclusion is that the Minerva Project was an action of the educational policy of
the military government in the 1970s. with a view to combating low education in the country, but its origin is earlier, dating back to the 1930s, consists of a compilation of other programs that also used the broadcast to promote the teaching of the lowest social classes in Brazil. We can evaluate the project in some ways, yet a results assessment methodology shown tenuous because the supplementary examination is open all who want to provide said for certification equivalent level of education. Thus the candidates for the examination are not unique to Minerva Project, though some changes can be seen in the process, as this survey shows.
