Previous issue date: 2015-10-16 / Entrepreneurship is seen as promoting the generation of new knowledge, new technology, and the ability to enhance the role of entrepreneurs in society as agents of development in their local and regional context. A promising field for research is on higher education, given its key role of promoter and developer of entrepreneurial intentions. The objective of this research is to apply and validate the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire - EIQ as measurement instrument of entrepreneurial intention in Brazil, in a regional context. The EIQ is a psychometric measuring instrument proposed by Liñán (2008), Liñán and Chen (2009) and reviewed by Liñán, Urban and Guerrero (2011), whose base is the Theory of Planned Behavior of Ajzen (1991). Thus, the research was with students who attend graduate of Management and Production Engineering at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal University of Grande Dourados, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The methodology used in the study was quantitative. The survey data was conducted by applying the EIQ, with a sample of 505 students of the two institutions of higher education. The data were first exploited through Microsoft Excel 2007 software, then statistically analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling with partial least squares model paths (PLSPM), using the SmartPLS 2.0 M3 software. It was found that the constructs showed significant positive relationships and explaining 13% of the variance of Personal Attitude (AP), 21.2% of Perceived Behavior Control (PBC) and 57.3% of Entrepreneurial Intent (IE). The relationship between attitude and intention showed the greatest strength from the relationships observed denoting the consolidated role of theoretical observed relationship between attitudes and intentions. The main results indicate that the EIQ was validated in a regional context. Thus, there was understanding that this thesis has contributed to validation of a psychometric scale regional context and Brazil.

Culture entrepreneuriale, performance socio-économique et modélisation empirique des comportements socioculturels sur les intentions d’entreprendre en Haïti / Entrepreneurial culture, socio-economic performance and empirical modeling of sociocultural behaviors on entrepreneurial intentions in HaitiTesse, Ernest 11 May 2018 (has links)
During a very long time Entrepreneurship was based solely on economic factors such as research and development (R&D), innovations, appropriate infrastructures, new applied technologies, an efficient banking system, and so on. Yet other factors are even more important when it comes to understanding the dimensions which are intrinsically relevant to entrepreneurial decision-making. And among them culture occupies a central place which cannot be overshadowed. Indeed, while some populations’cultural traits positively characterize their behavior and thus would play a role in their countries’ economic development, other cultural traits, instead of being promising, rather consist in handicaps to the economic growth of so-called underdeveloped countries. In this category, those with Black African culture seem to be the most affected. Haiti is one of the countries of the Western Hemisphere, more precisely of the Caribbean basin, which seem to be part of this category, from the black-African cultural traits which are bequeathed to it during the whole colonial period. All this was previously proved by a set of theoretical and empirical research works. However, in order to bring some necessary insights to the results of this work and especially to broaden our field of research in terms of performance and sustainable socio-economic development of Haiti, this thesis aims rather to try to empirically model the sociocutural behaviors of Haitian entrepreneuriat. In this sense, she’s looking to build an theorical reference model which can enable us to statistically and econometrically verify the influence of sociocultural behaviors on he intentions of entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial Haitian assets to create a company in the short term or to embark on a medium-term or long-term project in an entrepreneurial project in their own birth region.

This research aimed to examine the relationships between values, attitudes towards entrepreneurship (AE) and entrepreneurial intention (IE) in a comparative study with undergraduate Business students from the five Brazilian regions and Cape Verde. The survey instrument was composed by a demographic questionnaire, the scale of human values - Values Portrait Questionnaire – from Schwartz (2001), and Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire authored by Liñán & Chen (2009). After informed consent, the students answered the survey instrument, rendering a total of 1561 valid responses. Data was tabulated and analyzed in the software: SPSS 21 and AMOS 21 for the production of Descriptive Statistics, Reliability Analysis, Correlation Analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Graphics, Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The models used the Theory of Reasoned Action (FISHBEIN & AJZEN, 1971) and Theory of Planned Behavior (AJZEN, 1991), testing the impact of values in attitudes and entrepreneurial intention. The results indicated that the values of Stimulation, Hedonism and Power had the greatest effect on IE and AE. Significant differences were found between genders, with men sporting a higher IE, and more positive attitude towards entrepreneurship. Regional differences were also found. Limitations, practical and theoretical implications, and suggestions for future research are presented.

Entrepreneurial intent of final-year commerce students in the rural provinces of South AfricaMalebana, Mmakgabo Justice 02 1900 (has links)
Owing to the fact that entrepreneurship is widely considered to be a mechanism for reducing unemployment, the purpose of the study was to assess whether final-year Commerce students in the predominantly rural provinces, the Eastern Cape Province and the Limpopo Province, have the intention to start their own businesses. The study draws heavily from entrepreneurial intent models and focuses on the relationship between three key variables, namely, exposure to entrepreneurship education, awareness of entrepreneurial support and social capital to establish whether they are related to the intention of final-year Commerce studentsto start their own businesses.
The literature review concentrated on entrepreneurial intent and entrepreneurial intent models; government entrepreneurial support initiatives in South Africa and in other countries and their role in the development of entrepreneurial intent, emergence of new ventures and the growth of small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs); entrepreneurship education and its role in enhancing entrepreneurial self-efficacy, entrepreneurial competencies and entrepreneurial intent;the influence of social capital on entrepreneurial intent and the different stages on the new venture life-cycle; and concludes with the link between entrepreneurship and the establishment of SMMEs.
A survey was conducted among National Diploma (ND): Internal Auditing, Cost and Management Accounting and Financial information systems students (IAUD, CMA and FIS) (who had six months exposure to entrepreneurship education), ND: Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management (E/SBM) (who had three years exposure to entrepreneurship education) and ND: Management (without exposure to entrepreneurship education). The respondents for the study comprised 355 final year students of which 276 were from Walter Sisulu University in the Eastern Cape Province and 79 were from Tshwane University of Technology (Polokwane Campus) in the LimpopoProvince.Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and nonparametric statistics.
The findings reveal that the majority of the respondents had the intention to start a business in the future. The entrepreneurial intent of the ND: E/SBM students was
v
stronger than the entrepreneurial intent of the ND: IAUD, CMA and FIS students and ND: Management students. Some significant relationships were found between entrepreneurial intent and the key variables of the study. / Business Management / D.Com. (Business Management)
