Green Products : A Study on Young & Native Swedish Consumers’ Purchase Intentions of Green ProductsRahman, Md. Minur January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this study to explore the green products purchases intentions of the young & native Swedish consumers. Many studies have done on the green products and consumers of green products. Researcher also focused on the consumers’ and their purchase intention based on the age. Some studies conducted only on the young consumers of a particular country. However, this study focused on the young consumers of Sweden. Attitude, knowledge and friends and family influences are considered as the three basic factors of this study. I tried to investigate the influence of these three factors on the green purchase intentions of young Swedish. The Theory of Planned Behavior is used to predict human behavior. The theory is on the basis of three factors, those factors are attitude to the behavior, subjective norms and perceived behavior control. As mentioned before that I have considered three factors for this study and theses three factors are related with the other three factors of the Theory of Planned Behavior. This research used quantitative method, and quantitative method requires large numbers of sample. To fulfill the quantitative method’s requirement on sample numbers, I have considered 190 young Swedish from different places of Umeå and Stockholm. Analysis of the consumers’ response showed me positive response of young consumers on green products. The TPB helped me to explain my three factors as these factors are related with the factors of TPB. All the factors I have considered are positively explained and supported by Theory of Planned Behaviors. Findings of this study describes that Swedish are environment conscious consumers. They have positive knowledge, attitude on green product and intention to buy green products. As this study was based on young Swedish and they have showed their positivity on the green products and indented to purchase green products in future.

We study the effect of CEO leadership on shareholders' wealth and bidders’ takeover decisions. First and second chapters examine the effects of liberating leadership style and CEO leadership behavior on short-run and long-term M&As success. The first chapter provides evidence that liberating leaders granting autonomy and developing the confidence and skills of employees are more likely to produce short-term success. The second chapter shows that CEO people oriented leadership behavior exhibits an inverted relationship with long-term shareholders' wealth and that M&A failure can be explained by agency conflicts. The third chapter explores the effect of target’s country leadership style on the probability of being a potential target and on the takeover premium. The results of this chapter suggest that takeover likelihood and acquisition premiums are significantly related to the target's country leadership style. Specifically, firms located in countries embedded with higher charismatic, participative or human-oriented leadership style are more likely to receive higher premiums and to be potential targets

Rewriting Myths: Voicing Female Experience In Margaret Atwood' / s Surfacing And The Penelopiad And Marina Warner' / s Indigo And The Leto BundleKorkmaz, Fatma Tuba 01 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Myths have been an undeniable source in both shaping and expressing the values, norms and behavioural patterns in societies. However, the archetypes in these myths have helped to oppress women in their personal and social lives and have forced them to accept identities which actually are not theirs. Feminist archetypal theorists propose that through a detailed study of common images of women&rsquo / s writings, fantasies, dreams and myths, the archetypes that women possess will be uncovered and the female experience will have the chance to be voiced more accurately.
The aim of this thesis is to explore Surfacing and The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood and Indigo and The Leto Bundle by Marina Warner to lay bare the attempts of both writers to break away from the male-oriented myths so as to rewrite female experience via rewriting myths. In four novels, the archetypes and mythical elements are used in rewriting the gender and sexual identity markers which have long been imposed on women by patriarchal mythmakers. By rewriting these markers, both writers not only voice the genuine female experience and the body but also pave the way for the creation of new myths which would celebrate female identity and freedom.

Exciton Simulations Of The Optical Properties Of Several Photosynthetic Light-harvesting ComplexesIseri, Erkut Inan 01 June 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The work presented in this thesis was aimed to investigate the structure-function relationship of several photosynthetic Light-Harvesting Complexes (LHCs) including Chlorophyll Protein 29 (CP29) and Light-Harvesting Complex II (LHCII) of green plants, and Fenna-Matthews-Olson (FMO) complex of green sulfur bacterium Chlorobium tepidum. Based on the exciton calculations, a model was proposed to the electronic excited states (EES) of both CP29 and LHCII complexes by incorporating a considerable part of the current information offered by structure determination, mutagenesis analysis and spectroscopy in the modeling. The essential parameters for characterizing the excited states, Qy dipole orientations and site energies were assigned by suggesting a model that can explain both the key features of the linear (polarized) absorption spectra and the time scales of the energy transfer processes in CP29 and LHCII. The idea of offering structural information through setting connection between the spectroscopy and the spectral simulations were supported by the presented results on CP29 and LHCII. New spectroscopic measurements (absorption, linear dichroism (LD) and circular dichroism), carried out at 4 K on the FMO complex were presented, and also the LD spectrum was corrected for the degree of orientation of the sample, in order to provide comparison of not only the shape but also the size of the simulated and experimental spectra. The EES structure of the FMO complex was studied by simulating the measured optical spectra with more realistic model than the previously applied models. Simulations have been carried out with a computer program based on exciton model, which includes inhomogeneous, homogeneous and lifetime broadenings explicitly.

Laser Metal Powder Deposition of Austenitic Stainless Steel on Spheroidal Graphite Cast Iron : A corrosion resistant coating for the Food & Beverage Industry / Laser metalldeponering av AISI 316L på Segjärn : En korrosionsbeständig beläggning för livsmedelsindustrinMolina Griggs, Alejandro José January 2018 (has links)
Spheroidal graphite cast iron is a material widely used in the industry for the manufacturing of all kind of covers and protective casings thanks to its good combination of mechanical properties, processability and cost. When cast iron components are put into service in corrosive environments the most common approach to protect the components is painting them. The protective painting has been found to flake off with time when aggressive washing procedures, such as the ones used in the Food & Beverage industry, are applied several times. In this project, the coating of cast iron with a corrosion resistant AISI 316L stainless steel by Laser Metal Powder Deposition has been studied as an alternative protection against corrosion. Several samples with different combinations of substrate preparation, number of layers and surface conditions were produced and analysed by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, wash down tests and salt spray chamber corrosion tests. Main results show that the diffusion of carbon from the carbon-rich cast iron to the stainless steel coating, which would have a negative effect on the corrosion resistant properties, was significantly low as a result of the low penetration and dilution achieved during the laser metal powder deposition process. The deposited stainless steel coatings successfully protected the substrate during the corrosion tests and the integrity of the coatings is not expected to fail during the washing producers applied in the industry.

Be my (little) partner?! - Universities' role in regional innovation systems when large firms are rareKindt, Anna-Maria, Geissler, Matthias, Bühling, Kilian 06 June 2024 (has links)
Structural differences regarding the presence of large firms are likely to influence the performance of Regional Innovation Systems. Regions lacking large firms to act as brokers of knowledge and coordinators of regional (R&D) collaboration may have to rely on other actors to form internal and external links. We investigate whether, in this case, universities can fulfill the needs of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with regard to coordination and knowledge flows. Using a data set of subsidized R&D collaborations, we compare universities' network positions in four model regions in Germany. Applying a Temporal Exponential Random Graph Model approach, we examine link formation and network structure with a focus on university–SME ties and their development over time. Results indicate that SMEs profit from connections to the university in all regions. Nevertheless, universities take more central roles in regions where the economic surrounding does contain fewer large firms as sources for knowledge exchange.
