We aim to meet as the teachers use the fairy tales in the Municipal early childhood Centres (CMEIs) of our municipality. We have outlined the universe of fairy tales, tracing a panorama of its origin and structure. Within that universe, the writers Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. We support the concepts of myths, fables and fairy tales, emphasizing the particularity of each one, emphasizing the relevance of tales in the education of young children. We used the psychoanalytic theory to discuss the importance of these stories in the psychosexual development of the child. In the empirical literature review-we do the survey of academic-scientific productions that articulated fairy tales, education, Sexual Education, sexuality and Psychoanalysis at the State universities in the State of Paraná. We located twelve (12) universities that have graduate Stricto Sensu. Select, digital collections, seventeen (17) theses and dissertations that addressed our categories of analysis. However, do not reflect exactly our search object, which is the fairy tales in the sexual education of CMEIs. In the field research we collect data in fifteen (15) and we performed CMEIs semi-structured interviews with thirty (30) teachers who work in respective CMEIs. Our purpose was to answer the following question: what are the contributions of fairy tales in sexual education in Francisco Beltrão CMEIs? Anchored in the bibliographical research and field, we identified that the teachers feel bound to perform a job based on Emancipatory sex education, with small children, from the age of fairy tales. Therefore we reaffirm the importance of initial and continuing training, with teachers, early childhood education, about sexuality. In this sense, we present some suggestions for activities that can be used as methodological support, along with the theoretical contribution to work the issues of sexuality, present in early childhood education. Our studies led us to highlight the contributions of psychoanalysis to the field of education, by presenting correlations between fairy tales and the psychosexual development of the young child. Psychoanalytic reading of Bettelheim (2014) highlights that while the fairy tale fun kids, contribute in the construction of personality, because it clarifies important points about child development. We believe that this work has allowed us to extend the look at childhood through a fundamental element for the pedagogical practice, next to small children: fairy tales. Further, the results of our research, points to the need for training in sex education for teachers who are Emancipatory in Kindergarten, in the municipality of CMEIs Francisco Beltrão-PR. This sex education, articulated the psychoanalytic knowledge as possible way of intervention with young children, through fairy tales.

Blogs, Books, & Breadcrumbs: A Case Study of Transmedial Fairy Tales

Stewart, Kristy Gilbert 01 December 2014 (has links)
Understanding transmedial storytelling is particularly important to fairy-tale studies. Monomedial views have long been unable to account for all of fairy tale tradition. Although the form originated in oral culture, it has long been a liminal, hybrid form that retains aspects of orality even while its principal mode of transference for some time has been something other than face-to-face communication. Transformations and adaptations across different media and contexts has resulted in a system of fairy-tale tradition that is massively intertextual and transmedial. No one medium can claim primary control over the fairy-tale tradition. Throughout time, oral tellings have inspired literary adaptations; literary renditions have influenced oral and theater performances; oral, print, and theater performances have spawned any number of retellings and adaptations within audiovisual media. This case study, investigates one example of adaptation to social media and integration across media: Tim Manley's satirical blog Fairy Tales for Twenty-somethings and his book Alice in Tumblr-land. In Manley's fairy tale creations, we see an instance of what Henry Jenkins calls convergence culture. This convergence should be of particular interest to folklorists because corporate and mass-media systems continue to influence and integrate with existing forms of interaction. Manley's overall narrative approach integrates two media, which permits him to use fairy tales to express a broader range of narrative impulses than would a project tied to only one medium. Media integration is an important concept to recognize and investigate because so many individuals see different media as inherently combative rather than mutually beneficial systems. Just as intertextuality has become a foundational concept in many humanistic studies, intermediality needs to enter the folklorist's discussions as well. With only some media under consideration, we only get some of the message.

'Divine carelessness' : the fairytale levity of George MacDonald

Gabelman, Daniel January 2011 (has links)
Though known for his fantastical writings George MacDonald is often considered to be a typical Victorian teacher of religious and moral seriousness. Approaches to MacDonald’s works normally seek to find his ‘message’ by expositing the moral, social, pedagogical, psychological or theological ‘content’ of his work. This study recasts MacDonald in the light of his shorter fairytales for the ‘childlike’ and argues that these seemingly small and insignificant works are a golden key to his artistic enterprise. This is not because of any particular ‘message’ that they carry but because of their peculiarly light mode of generating meaning and the relation of this lightness to theology. Whilst it is frequently disparaged, levity actually has strong parallels with the theological atmosphere of Christianity. Light modalities such as folly, ecstasy, play, vanity, carnival and Sabbath demonstrate that the Christian faith has greater affinities with lightness and whimsicality than its solemn defenders sometimes admit. MacDonald’s fairytales draw upon this surprising harmony between levity and faith to create environments in which readers can playfully reflect upon the nature of ultimate reality and begin to find their own place within that reality. By helping to remove the mask of ‘seriousness’ presented by things in the everyday world, fairytales engender a kind of ‘divine carelessness’ and help people to let go of the weighty cares and fears that keep them tightly bound to worldly things.

The language of enchantment : childhood and fairytale in the music of Maurice Ravel.

Kilpatrick, Emily Alison January 2008 (has links)
No human condition is invested with more diverse and complex perceptions, ideals and emotions than childhood. Although it has long been accorded a particular significance in the context of his life and work, Maurice Ravel’s conception of childhood, together with the musical language through which it found expression, has never been the subject of a detailed, extended study. This thesis, therefore, explores the roles and realisations of childhood in Ravel’s music, arguing that they were inextricably linked with the language, traditions and idioms of the literary fairytale – an hypothesis Ravel himself supported when he wrote that his intention in his fairytale-based Ma mère l'Oye was to evoke ‘the poetry of childhood’. Through a study of these intertwined themes, the thesis develops new analytical and interpretative approaches to three major works: the piano duet suite Ma mère l’Oye (1910), the Trois chansons for mixed choir (1914-1915), and the opera L’Enfant et les sortilèges (1919-1925). These works span a fifteen-year period that saw a decisive evolution in Ravel’s compositional style, and was crucially impacted by the great cataclysm of the First World War. Ravel deliberately aligned his music with the traditions of the fairytale through the creation and expressive manipulation of musical and dramatic structure, language, gesture and perspective. One may trace the voice and presence of the storyteller in Ma mère l’Oye, a work dedicated to two children for whom Ravel was a favourite companion and teller of fairytales. L’Enfant et les sortilèges presents a detailed portrait of its eponymous Child, set within a fairytale in which traditional elements combine with a complexity of dramatic, musical and psychological construction that invokes the zeitgeist of the 1920s. The shadows of real events intrude more disturbingly upon the Trois chansons, whose distorted fairytale narratives represent a direct and personal response to the War. In its balance of musical interpretation and explication, supported by a clearly defined historical and philosophical context, the study yields new insights into a central facet of Ravel’s musical identity. / http://proxy.library.adelaide.edu.au/login?url= http://library.adelaide.edu.au/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=1348982 / Thesis (Ph.D.) - University of Adelaide, Elder Conservatorium of Music, 2008

Pohádky ve výuce francouzského jazyka / Fairy Tales in French Language Teaching

Stolínová, Markéta January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of fairy tales in French language teaching. The first part is dedicated to the definition of fairy tales as literary texts and to the presentation of general aspects related to the use of literary forms in foreign language teaching. The subsequent parts are focused exclusively on fairy tales. First of all, the fairytale genre is generally introduced. Afterwards, several ways of the application of fairy tales in French classes are outlined, with regard to the focus on language skills and sub-skills. The practical part includes more subsections, however, it mainly aims at the analysis of the role of fairy tales in French language teaching in the Czech Republic. Therefore, it consists of the analysis of significant French textbooks and of a questionnaire survey aimed at Czech lower secondary and high school teachers. The textbook analysis verifies the presence of fairy tales in didactic materials, whereas the aforementioned survey examines the experience and opinions of foreign language teachers on this issue. Finally, three worksheets, based on recently acquired knowledge, are created to serve as the source of inspiration and motivation for the use of fairy tales in foreign language teaching. Asleep in a glass coffin: fairy tales as illuminating attitudes to women in the novels of Charles Dickens

Daly, Robyn Anne January 1996 (has links)
The field of research of this thesis covers three main areas: the novels of Charles Dickens; fairy tales and storytelling; and notions of women as reflected in feminist literary theory. A reading of selected novels by Dickens provides the primary source. That he copiously drew on fairy tales has been explored in such notable works as Harry Stone's, but the thesis concentrates on Dickens 's propensity in his creation of female protagonists to give them a voice which is vivified through fairy tale. The analysis of fairy story through narrative theory and feminist literary theory functions as the basis of an exploration of the role female narrative voices play in a reading of the novels which reveals a more sympathetic vision of the feminine than has been observed hitherto. The context of this study is Victorian attitudes to women and that modem criticism has not sufficiently acknowledged Dickens's insight into of the condition of women; much of this is discovered through an examination of his use of fairy tale wherein the woman is bearer of imaginative and emotional capacities magically bestowed. The research aims to counter the view of Dickens's novels as being sexist, through the iIluminatory characteristics of fairy tale. Dickens activates his women characters by means of their often being tellers of tales replete with fairy tale imagery, and their tales are almost always seminal to the novelist's moral purpose.

Menezes, Meiryelle Paixão 06 August 2015 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This Work Course Completion (TCF) is composed of a dissertation and part of an educational notebook with literary workshops. The goal was to develop a practice of literary reading focused on the interpretation of youth tales through the eyes of gender studies. For this, a focused search for the reading and interpretation of literary texts in the school environment emphasizing a reflection on the gender representation of the princes and princesses of folktales was applied. Such research was carried out in a state school from Sergipe with 6th grade students and intended to reduce the gender bias that is still part of the relations between boys and girls, who repeated sexist and macho patterns came from the male domination. The reading lessons of literary texts were aimed at the exploration of gender issues in the imagination of fairy tales. These relationships are based on the common sense to the repetition of prejudice against women. In this context, a job offer with reading workshops of literary tales “Entre a espada e a rosa”, “A moça tecelã” and “Como um colar” by Marina Colasanti was applied, in order to improve the reading levels of / the students and make them aware of the gender discrimination at school. After the various stages of this research, it was proposed the literary reading Notebook: receiving genre for elementary school as a teaching material built from that experience. Methodologically, the research application was divided into four stages: 1 - the formation of the reader, which was discussed by the perspective of U. Eco; 2 - the Reading methods A. Rouxel, Aguiar and Bordini and C. Gomes; 3 - the gender approach by the perspective of P. Bourdieu, G. and E. Laurel Xavier; and 4 - the data analysis. During these workshops, a data collection was made about the reading and discussion of the differences between male and female identities in receiving the wonderful tales. After the implementation of reading workshops, there was the construction of the literary reading book that summarizes the main stages of the approach developed in this research. With this book, we hope to contribute to the formation of readers and critics in order to raise awareness of the students with regard to gender discrimination, and form a more just and egalitarian society. / Itabaiana, SE
