The present work was carried out in the Estação de Pesquisa, Treinamento e Educação Ambiental Mata do Paraíso (Station of Research, Training and Environmental Education Mata do Paraíso), Viçosa – MG – Brazil. The objectives of this work were to verify the floristics and reproductive aspects of species of the Bignoniaceae family, as well as to evaluate the germination, rooting, and growth of seedlings of Tynanthus fasciculatus Miers. For the floristic survey and phenologic data collection one day visits every two weeks from August 2001 to August 2002, one day visits every week from September 2002 to August 2003, and every ten days from September 2003 to August 2004 were made. Specimens’ identification were obtained by means of specific references, support of an expert and herbarium consultation. For flowering and fructification, up to five individuals of each species were marked and observed during two years. The flowering patterns were classified according to criteria established in references. The superposition of the flowering period among the species, the correlation among the phenologic and climatic variables and the synchrony of the phenophases, in populations of species with three to five individuals observed were analyzed. The floral types, pollination and dispersal syndromes were characterized and identified according to specialized references. The foliation also was registered for the arboreal species. The germination, rooting and growth of seedlings of T. fasciculatus were evaluated in various essays. A total of 33 species distributed in 19 genera were found, 27 lianas and six trees. The most representative genus was Fridericia, with seven species. Six taxa showed their first registration of occurrence in the region of Viçosa. At least two species flourished per month, along the period studied and the majority of the species showed a yearly flowering. The flowering and leaf sprouting of the arboreal species correlated positively with the average temperature and with the precipitation, while the fructification showed a negative correlation with these variables. The most representative floral type and pollination syndrome were Anemopaegma and melittophily, respectively. The superposition in the flowering period in species of the same floral type and/or genus was generally low. The fruit ripening and the anemophilous dispersion of the seeds started at the beginning of the dry season. However, it was at the beginning of the raining season that the majority of the species dispersed their seeds. From the six arboreal species, four showed to be entirely decidous: Cybistax antisyphilitica, Jacaranda macrantha, J. puberula and Tabebuia chrysotricha. The seeds of T. fasciculatus showed and average time and a germination percentage of 42 days and 31,25%, respectively. There was no rooting of the cuttings of T. fasciculatus, probably due to their collecting time. The forest border was the treatment in which the seedlings of T. fasciculatus developed better and showed the greatest values of length and 100% of survival. Only in this treatment the development of tendrils was observed, in the seedlings that suppressed 80cm of length. / Dissertação importada do Alexandria

Francescatto, Poliana January 2014 (has links)
Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências Agrárias, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Recursos Genéticos Vegetais, Florianópolis, 2014. / Made available in DSpace on 2015-02-05T20:22:43Z (GMT). Fuji, apesar de terminais apresentarem os melhores frutos, a frutificação dos esporões tendeu ser mais estável durante os anos, Para esta cultivar, ambas estruturas poderiam ser preconizadas.<br> / Abstract : Apples are one of the most valuable fruit crops in the world because of the significant amount produced and commercialized. In Brazil, apples are mainly grown in the south since these areas possess the most suitable climatic conditions for reasonable productions. Among climate elements temperature may be considered the most significant phenomenon affecting the process of fruit production, from flower bud formation through harvest. Also, it is one of the factors responsible for irregular cropping. Thereafter, this work tried to understand the possible environmental and climatic effects, qualitative and quantitative limitations, on the acclimation of both trees and fruiting habits. From 2010 to 2014, the process of flower and fruit development of the two main apple cultivars, Gala and Fuji, were evaluated. Measurements were done separately on the three types of buds, spurs, and both terminal and axillary buds of one year shoots. Morphological characterization of bud initiation and differentiation, flower biology and morphology, flowering phenology and fruit production were studied. The trials were mainly carried under the Brazilian conditions, in Caçador, SC, Brazil (latitude 26°50?S, longitude 50°58?W, altitude of 950m). However, a second region located in Ohio State, in the United States, was included as a reference for some of the studies such as bud differentiation and flower biology, since it shows great climate conditions for growing apples. Ten morphological bud stages of Malus domestica Borkh were defined, from the vegetative meristem to floral organs differentiation. Flower initiation was affected by cultivar and bud type. Floral development of =Fuji? buds was faster than =Gala? buds. Among the buds types, flower initiation and differentiation occurred first in spurs, then in axillary and terminal buds, successively. Floral transition seems to be triggered by intrinsic signals; whereas the transition between the stages seems to be considerably affected by environmental conditions, mainly temperatures. The morphological development of apple flowers =Gala? and =Fuji? were greater under temperate climate than subtropical conditions. Under the environmental conditions of the region in south of Brazil stigmas reached the optimumreceptivity at anthesis or earlier; whereas in the region in North America pollen reached a maximum germination 24-48 hours after flower opening. In Caçador, terminal flowers on one year old long shoot showed higher morphological qualities of the female and male floral organs than spurs and axillary. Flowering and bud break onset of the different bud types greatly depended on the year assessed; warmer springs induced to a synchronized onset between the different buds. Spur buds requires less heat-unit accumulation at budbreak, specially =Gala? spur buds. In general, axillary buds of both cultivars showed low fruitset and produced smaller fruits (weight and diameter). Terminal buds on long shoots of both cultivars induced rounder and heavier fruits than axillary and spur buds. Under the climate conditions of Caçador =Fuji? was productively more stable than =Gala?. In order to ensure good fruitset, high yields and larger fruits, one year shoots should be preferred in the tree management practices of =Gala? such as pruning, bending or other techniques. Although in =Fuji?, terminal buds of long shoots produced high quality fruits, the fruitset of spurs tended to be stable among years; therefore, both bud types should be preconized.

Demografia e fenologia reprodutiva de Butia capitata (Mart.) Becc. (Arecaceae) em Arambaré, Rio Grande do Sul / Demography and reproductive phenology of Butia Capitata (Mart.) Becc. (Arecaceae) in Arambaré county, Rio Grande Do Sul

Azambuja, Augusto Cruz de January 2009 (has links)
Considering the use of Butia capitata (Mart.) Becc. by the restinga fauna and human populations and the fact that restingas are environments which are highly threatened by real estate speculation and intense pressure from forestry, agriculture and livestock, this study intended to characterize the demography, natural regeneration, reproductive phenology of Butia Capitata and correlate it to climatics variables and learn about the productive and reproductive potential of this population. The demographic structure was surveyed in four plots of 2500 m², in which all plants with segmented leaves were registered, natural regeneration was sampled in 2000 sampling units (1m²) contained in 40 subplots. The sampled plants were sorted by developmental stages. The demographic structure in 1 ha took on a reverted J shape, with 2910 seedlings, 174 young, 26 immature, 76 reproductive adults I, 52 reproductive adults II, and 19 reproductive adults III. Natural regeneration (seedlings and young plants) was correlated with the distance to the nearest reproductive plant through three classes and the association or not with woody plants (ANOVA). Showing significant statistic differences (P<0.001) between the number of seedlings and young plants and the factor distance and between the number of young plants and the factor association or not with woody plants (P=0.018) and the interaction between both factors and the number of young plants (P=0.024), the number of seedlings was inversely proportional to the distance to the reproductive plant, and when associated to the ligneous plants from the second distance class, the number was higher than that without association. The number of young plants increased as the distance increased when not associated to woody plants, and when an association existed, there was an increase in the number in the last distance class. Reproduction phenology was followed for 20 months, with registration of the phenophases: inflorescences being formed between September 2007 and March 2008, with peak in December 2007. Staminate and pistillate inflorescences blooming from December 2007 to February 2008 with peak in January. Infructescences with green and ripe fruit took place from December 2007 to July 2008, respectively, with peak in February 2008, and from February to April 2008, with peak in March. There were significant correlations between phenophases and climatics variables: forming and staminate and pistillate blooming inflorescences correlated with medium temperature and length of the day; staminate and pistillate blooming with precipitation; and green fruits with medium temperature. The productive potentials (expressed by kg of fruit/2500m²) and reproductive potentials (expressed by the number of potentially viable seeds/2500m²) were for the parcels 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, 741 kg and 246,924 seeds; 435 kg and 123,556 seeds; 325 kg and 102,010 seeds; 207 kg and 78,496 seeds.

The granadilla is a type of sweet passion fruit native of Tropical America, which has a greater tolerance to cold climates and good adaptability to conditions of high altitudes, being an option in the Brazilian market. With the purpose of obtaining more information about its development in edaphic and climatic conditions similar to production sites, we conducted this experiment at the Fazenda Experimental das Faculdades Integradas Cantareira (the Experimental Farm of the college 'Faculdades Integradas Cantareira'), located in the city of Mairiporã, São Paulo. Besides the analysis of the development of 25 plants, we evaluated the germination of seeds gathered in different periods and stored in cold storage. The main results were: germination percentages of 88, 26 and 7, respectively for seeds taken from ripe fruits in 20/02/99; 08/02/01 and 06/05/01; and, pertaining the 23 plants that survived: production of 04 and 106 fruits, respectively, in 2002 (1st year) and until August 2003; fruits with average weight of 108,86 g (1st year) and 103,13 g (2nd year); and total soluble solids with average of 14º Brix (1st year) and 13,73º Brix (2nd year). The main conclusions were: seeds that are stored for greater periods of time germinate in lesser time and show more vigorous seedlings; seeds recently taken from the fruit have low percentage of germination; production in the first year is low, raising in the second year, but still inferior when compared with those of production regions; the variability shown in the parameters leads to a genetic improvement of the species for the environmental conditions of the place of the experiment.

January 2007 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Moist grasslands are herbaceous communities which occur on seasonally or permanently humid or waterlogged soils in the savanna regions. In the Cerrado biome these communities could be found as a belt between the cerrado sensu lato and the riparian forests, along water courses or on flat valley bottoms. Although these communities are very attractive because their interesting flora, there is a remarkable lacking in the knowledge of their floristic and ecological aspects. In this contribution we studied some floristic and ecological aspects of the savanna moist grasslands, emphasizing the following subjects: a) the distribution patterns of herbaceous and subshrub plant species of moist grassland areas in the South America savanna regions through comparisons of 16 checklists using multivariate techniques (DCA, TWINSPAN and UPGMA); b) the relationship between the spatial distribution of plant species in a topographic gradient of a moist grassland area in the Central-Eastern region of São Paulo state (Brazil) and the local environmental factors like soil patterns, moisture content and water table levels, and; c) the temporal changes (along three years) in the structure, floristic composition and phenology (flowering, fruiting, senescence and sprouting) of a moist grassland area in the Central-Eastern region of São Paulo state (Brazil) and their relationships with the climate seasonality (rainfall, temperature and water table fluctuations) and fire. Comparing the 16 moist grassland areas in respect to their floristic composition we found low similarity levels even between the neighbour most areas and the distribution patterns of plant species could be related with geographic and environmental factors, as observed for the cerrado sensu lato flora in others studies. The spatial distribution analysis revealed that the floristic variations observed in the area of São Paulo state... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Doutor

Souza, Andréa Dantas de. January 2003 (has links)
Abstract: The granadilla is a type of sweet passion fruit native of Tropical America, which has a greater tolerance to cold climates and good adaptability to conditions of high altitudes, being an option in the Brazilian market.

_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Phenology is the study of rhythmic events, or recurring natural events, presented by animals and plants in response to endogenous or environmental stimuli. The phenology of reproduction in plants begins with flowering, then fruiting, dispersal and ends with the germination and establishment of new seedlings. The main objectives were: (1) describe the circannual reproductive phenology of ten species of grass in a grassland of Savannah, (2) test which environmental factors are used as signs for these grasses to choose the flowering period (3) test whether dormancy in caryopses of grasses is a strategy for the establishment of seedlings in times of favorable precipitation (hypothesis of water seasonal stress). For the phenology, were sampled ten individuals of ten species, fortnightly, for one year (2009-2010). Phenological strategies were described by circular statistics. To test which signals induce flowering, correlations and regressions were done among the time of flowering and environmental factors climatic (precipitation, temperature) and celestial (photoperiod, radiation, sunrise and sunset). We found the incidence of seed dormancy from germination tests with eight species of these grasses under different storage periods. Finally, we collected seedlings in 40 plots (20x20 cm) to identify the phenology of the emergence of these seedlings. The reproductive period of the community of grasses was seasonal, with an increase in the rainy season. However, both phenophases of fruiting and dispersal, in some species, also occurred in the dry season. Based on the onset, duration and synchrony of reproduction, it was possible to distinguish groups of species with different phenological strategies. We corroborate the hypothesis of photoperiod as the primary signal inducing flowering in these grasses. The temperature hypothesis was rejected. Likewise, no relationship was recorded between precipitation and flowering species, we suggest that rainfall and moisture act as limiting factors more than these inducers to flowering grasses. The diaspore of Paslpalum gardnerianum and Echinolaena inflexa has dormancy, and this is overcome as the storage period. The species Andropogon selloanus showed no dormancy. The seedling emergence was concentrated at the beginning of the rainy season. Corroborate the hypothesis of water seasonal stress for explaining dormancy in E. inflexa and P. gardnerianum.
