The capital of São Paulo offers thousands of entertainment options for every type of people, but the robust network of establishments can prove to be too complex even for locals looking for a fun option. This public, despite having an interest in consuming, may end up giving up enjoying this universe due to the immensity of choices that need to be made. On the other hand, establishments lack a hub in search of alternatives to get to know their audience better and generate a stable flow of customers, even at less favorable times. In this way, this work analyzes how couples living in the city behave when selecting tours and proposes a product marketing strategy. The methodological part of the research included theoretical revision on the current journalistic market, information curation, creation of value and founding. In addition, it includes a quantitative research with the target audience and a qualitative research with specialists of diverse areas (journalism, digital marketing, branding and administration). A business plan was developed that seeks to create unique experiences for these couples of all genres in São Paulo. The project demonstrates economic and financial viability (IRR of 51.3% and NPV of R$ 1,354,189.51) and associated risks. This project appears in a moment of deep transformations in the information universe, coming from the internet. Therefore, its main objective is to contribute to the planning of new journalistic businesses, in a scenario in which journalism, marketing and administration are increasingly close. / Este trabalho propõe um modelo de negócio jornalístico que explora a curadoria de roteiros para casais em São Paulo. A capital paulistana oferece milhares de opções de entretenimento para todo tipo de perfil, porém a robusta rede de estabelecimentos pode demonstrar-se demasiadamente complexa até mesmo para moradores locais que procuram uma opção de diversão. Este público, apesar de ter interesse em consumir, pode acabar desistindo de aproveitar este universo devido à imensidão de escolhas que precisam ser feitas. Do outro lado, estabelecimentos carecem de um hub na busca de alternativas para conhecer melhor o seu público e gerar um fluxo estável de clientes, mesmo nos horários menos favoráveis. Desta forma, este trabalho analisa como casais residentes na cidade se comportam no momento de selecionar passeios e propõe uma estratégia mercadológica de produto. A parte metodológica da pesquisa incluiu revisão teórica sobre o atual mercado jornalístico, curadoria da informação, criação de valor e financiamento. Além disso, contempla uma pesquisa quantitativa com o público-alvo e uma pesquisa qualitativa com especialistas de diversas áreas (como jornalismo, marketing digital, branding, administração). Foi desenvolvido um plano de negócios que busca criar experiências únicas para estes casais de todos os gêneros em São Paulo. O empreendimento demostra viabilidade econômico-financeira (TIR de 51,3% e VPL de R$ 1.354.189,51) e riscos associados. Tal projeto surge em um momento de profundas transformações no universo da informação, advindas da internet. Portanto, seu principal objetivo é contribuir para o planejamento de novos negócios jornalísticos, em um cenário em que jornalismo, marketing e administração estão cada vez mais próximos.

Financování politických stran: mezinárodní komparace / Political Party Funding: an International Comparison

The aim of this thesis is to identify significant weaknesses of political party funding system in the Czech Republic, and to suggest possible improvements of the system. Knowledge acquired in the first part of the thesis, which deals with the theoretical basis of political party funding, is used to analyse the applicable legislation. This part of the thesis first of all describes the legal framework of political parties, the principles and goals of political party funding, and possible approaches to the funding; the most space is devoted to one of the possible approaches, regulatory measures, which is divided on the basis of supply side (state a private funding) and demand side (mainly campaign spending regulation). The Czech legislation is not only analysed in general and using the theoretical basis, but is also compared with the system adopted by the Federal Republic of Germany. The hypothesis is that the German law is a good example for the Czech Republic in the field of party financing, for the Federal Republic of Germany has been a developed democratic state of law for a longer uninterrupted period of time, and was one of the first countries in the world to introduce state funding of political parties. Impact of bank funding on the growth of Nigeria's manufacturing sector

Several studies and theories have linked economic growth to finance and further posit that a well funded and supported manufacturing sector could transform the economic fortunes of nations. However, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria has complained of paucity and unfavourable terms of funding from the Nigerian banks. This study is motivated by the concerns of the industry stakeholders on the need to evaluate the contributions of bank funding on economic growth of Nigeria. Therefore the main aim of the study is to investigate the impact of bank funding on the growth of Nigeria's manufacturing sector. To achieve this aim, the objectives of the study are to contribute to knowledge and practice, examine causality relationship in the funding-growth nexus and assess the impact of bank funding on the growth of the nation's manufacturing sector. Others are to identify factors that affect bank lending to the manufacturers and make recommendations that can improve lending practice. The research is anchored on the endogenous growth theory and underpinned by the realist philosophical paradigm thereby employing both qualitative and quantitative approaches in data seeking, gathering and analysis. The study identified the lending banks, the regulators and the manufacturers as the three majorstakeholders and administered structured questionnaires on 227 bank operators and 213 manufacturers covering the six identified domains of factors that affect bank funding. The causality and impact tests established that there is a bidirectional relationship between bank funding and manufacturing sector growth and the impact of bank funding is with a lapse of time while the impacts of interest and inflation rates are immediate. Factor analysis of stakeholders'responses confirmed this result and further revealed that weak publicinfrastructure, insurgencies, harsh fiscal and monetary policies adversely affect manufacturers' growth. The findings of this study shall help stakeholders have a better understanding of the issues militating against improved bank funding and challenges of the manufacturers towards achieving economic growth in Nigeria. The study therefore recommends that for the economy to tap from the growth enhancing potentials of the manufacturing sector, it is essential to adopt policy measures favourable to the banking and manufacturing sectors. The government should create enabling business environment with special single-digit interestmanufacturing sector intervention fund, provision of stable power and infrastructure for the sectors, and maintain stable exchange rate regime that makes foreign exchange available to the manufacturers. This work covers data from 1987 to 2015 and limited to bank lending as the source of funding to manufacturers. Further studies could extend the period, funding sources, sectors and even territorial coverage.

Desenvolvimento de plano de incentivo de longo prazo para funcionários baseado em opções fantasmas em uma startup

As startups vêm provocando uma mudança profunda no mundo dos negócios, e a cada ano mais startups são fundadas no Brasil. O sucesso destas empresas não depende exclusivamente do desenvolvimento de um produto/serviço inovador e um modelo de negócio escalável, mas também da aplicação de ferramentas de incentivo de longo prazo que permitam a formação de times de alto desempenho altamente engajados, e o controle do caixa, que nos primeiros anos é tipicamente escasso dadas as características de risco destes novos negócios. No entanto, o desconhecimento de ferramentas de incentivo de longo prazo por parte dos empreendedores e a limitada discussão na literatura do seu efeito conjunto nas dimensões de pessoas e financeira faz com que muitas startups não implementem tais planos nos seus primeiros anos de existência, o que pode afetar diretamente o sucesso do negócio. Mecanismos inovativos de incentivo, como as opções fantasmas (phantom stock options), são particularmente desconhecidos e pouco aplicados no contexto brasileiro de startups. O objetivo deste trabalho é desenvolver um plano de incentivo de longo prazo baseado em opções fantasmas em uma startup, bem como gerar conhecimento para apoiar futuras pesquisas acadêmicas no campo. Este objetivo foi atingido por meio de uma pesquisa-ação e os resultados confirmaram a importância desta ferramenta para a atração de talentos, engajamento do time, redução de exposição de caixa e redução de assimetria da informação na empresa, já que o profissional passa a entender e mensurar o valor de sua contribuição individual para a equipe e, consequentemente, para o atingimento do seu bônus. / Startups have been bringing about a profound change in the business world, and each year more startups are founded in Brazil. The success of these companies does not depend exclusively on the development of an innovative product / service and a scalable business model, but also on the application of long-term incentive tools that allow the formation of highly engaged high performance teams and cash control, which in the early years is typically scarce given the risk characteristics of these new businesses. However, the lack of knowledge of long-term incentive tools on the part of entrepreneurs and the limited discussion in the literature of their combined effect on the human and financial dimensions means that many startups do not implement such plans in their early years of existence. Can directly affect the success of the business. Innovative incentive mechanisms, such as phantom stock options, are particularly unknown and little applied in the Brazilian context of startups. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the creation and implementation of a long-term incentive plan based on phantom options in a startup, as well as generate knowledge to support future academic research in the field. This objective was reached through an action research and the results confirmed the importance of this tool for the attraction of talents, team engagement, reduction of cash exposure and reduction of asymmetry of information in the company, since the professional comes to understand and measure the value of your individual contribution to the team and, consequently, to the attainment of your bonus.

Perceptions of Purchasing in Texas School Districts

Based on the position that perceptions about roles and functions within organizations affect the operational goals of those organizations, this study vas conducted to determine differences in perceptions among educational personnel in large Texas school districts as to the operation of purchasing departments. The data generated by the present study support the conclusions stated below: 1. All employee groups questioned feel that there is a significant discrepancy between current and ideal practices in purchasing departments. 2. Any tendency to protect the status quo appears to be limited to those involved with the purchasing system in its design and operation. 3. Being more closely associated with classroom operations causes a greater discrepancy in how purchasing department practices are viewed. 4. Secondary Teachers were either more intensely in favor of change or more willing to express opinions. 5. There exists the tendency to lose rapport with teachers the more removed one is from the classroom. 6. Communications gaps exist between purchasing departments and those in classroom operations.

O debate acerca do equilíbrio financeiro e atuarial dos regimes de previdência social é tema relevante e de alta indagação no momento atual da economia brasileira, e em particular, na gaúcha. Os diferentes regimes de previdência social adotados no Brasil e seus modelos de financiamento devem estar intimamente ligados ao equilíbrio financeiro e atuarial, adequados a soluções que permitam o atingimento de seus fins precípuos, voltados à garantia do pagamento de benefícios a seus segurados, sem que, no entanto, esse proceder gere prejuízos nas contas públicas e outros aportes estatais. No âmbito do Rio Grande do Sul, as fórmulas encontradas ao longo de décadas objetivando a solidez do regimes previdenciários aqui adotados, não discrepam daquelas adotadas em âmbito nacional e resumem-se basicamente a três pontos: sucessivas alterações legislativas com a mudança do modelo de financiamento da repartição simples para o da capitalização; a majoração paulatina das alíquotas que se constituem na principal fonte de receita do sistema; e a instituição do regime de previdência complementar. A (in)adequação de medidas adotadas no regime próprio de previdência gaúcho voltadas à busca do equilíbrio financeiro e atuarial foi a resposta encontrada ao que se propôs analisar na presente dissertação. / The debate about the financial and actuarial balance of social security regimes is an important and highly discussed subject at the current moment of the Brazilian economy, and particularly in Rio Grande do Sul. The different types of social security systems adopted in Brazil as well as their funding models must be closely linked to the financial and actuarial balance, being appropriate to solutions that enable the achievement of their main purposes, aimed at ensuring the payment of benefits to its policyholders, however, in a manner that this proceeding doesn’t generate any losses in the public accounts as well as at any other state contributions. In the scope of Rio Grande do Sul, the formulas found along decades aiming the trustworthiness of the social security schemes adopted here, do not disagree from those adopted at the national level and thus can be summarized basically into three points: successive legislative alterations with the changing of the funding model from the simple sharing model to the capitalization one; the gradual increase in rates that are the main source of system revenues; and the institution of the complementary pension regime. The (in) adequacy of measures taken in the Rio Grande do Sul own Special Security Regime that aimed the pursuit of financial and actuarial balance was found as the answer for what this dissertation proposed to analyse.

O presente estudo configura-se como uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa exploratória do tipo estudo de caso, com o objetivo de analisar as bases de financiamento federal e estadual no campo da Atenção Básica dos municípios do Estado da Bahia, evidenciando os conflitos presentes após a implantação do Pacto pela Saúde, bem como as incertezas que cerceiam seu financiamento. Os dados foram coletados em duas etapas: na primeira realizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas, com perguntas fechadas e abertas, aplicadas aos representantes da diretoria da atual gestão do Conselho Estadual dos Secretários Municipais de Saúde do Estado da Bahia (COSEMSBA); na segunda etapa desenvolveu-se uma revisão documental, através da leitura e análise das portarias, resoluções federais e estaduais, assim como atas de reuniões da Comissão Intergestores Bipartite (CIB), que trataram como tema a Política e o Financiamento da Atenção Básica. Observou-se que os problemas em relação ao financiamento da saúde, em especial da Atenção Básica, persistem, mesmo após a instituição do Pacto pela Saúde. Desta forma, conclui-se que descentralização só obterá sucesso se a quantidade de recursos financeiros necessários para responder aos compromissos assumidos no atendimento à população for adequada, e também quando houver regularidade do financiamento e da capacidade de incremento de recursos destinados à saúde pelas três esferas, ou seja, não basta a simples transferência financeira, também se faz necessário discutir os critérios e as formas de alocação dos recursos / This study characterizes as an exploratory qualitative case study, with the aim of analyzing the foundations of federal and state funding in Primary Healthcare of the municipalities of the state of Bahia, bringing light upon current conflicts after the deployment of the Pact for Health as well as the uncertainties that surrounded its funding. Data were collected in two stages, the first semi-structured interviews were conducted with closed and open questions, applied to current managers of the State Council of Municipal Health Secretaries of the State of Bahia (BA-COSEMS/ Conselho Estadual dos Secretários de Saúde-BA), in the second stage, it was developed a document review, through reading and analysis of ordinances, resolutions, state and federal, as well as minutes of meetings of the Managers Bipartite Commission (Comissão Intergestores Bipartite-CIB), which dealt with the theme Politics and funding of primary healthcare. It was observed that the issues, in relation to health financing, particularly Primary Healthcare, persist even after the institution of the Pact for Health. Therefore, it was concluded that decentralization will succeed when the amount of financial resources needed to meet commitments assumed to serve the population is adequate, and also when there is regular funding, increased resources for health by the three spheres of government. It is estimated to be necessary to discuss the criteria and forms of resource allocation in primary healthcare, as there are disagreements about the equality of financial transfers to all municipalities and regions of the state.

Estudo da destinação dos recursos captados em ofertas públicas de ações no Brasil e seus efeitos / Study of the destination of the public offerings resources raised in the Brazilian stocks market aind its effects

A pesquisa trata da relação entre a destinação dos recursos captados em oferta pública de distribuição de ações no Brasil e o retorno anormal no primeiro dia de negociação no pregão da bolsa. Teve como objetivo identificar se a destinação de recursos, como capital de giro, liquidação de passivos, aquisições, financiamento de clientes e investimentos em produção podem ser consideradas para tomada de decisão dos investidores, já que existe a obrigatoriedade legal da apresentação dessas informações. No período de janeiro de 2007 a dezembro de 2011 foram captados pelas empresas ofertantes, sendo que algumas mais de uma vez no período, o valor de R$ 250,9 bilhões pelas subscrições de novas ações. O levantamento de dados considerou prioritariamente as informações apresentadas nos prospectos de ofertas públicas e nos comunicados de encerramento das ofertas, ambos registrados para acesso ao público em geral no site da Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM) e, também, no site da BM&FBovespa. Foram utilizadas duas hipótese distintas, uma relativa à destinação dos recursos e outra relativa ao grupo de investidores participantes da oferta, ambas confrontadas com o retorno anormal das ações no primeiro dia de negociações do pregão da BM&FBovespa. Na tentativa de mensurar essas relações, adotou-se a analise de dados multivariada. Evidências apontadas pelos resultados sugerem que não há relações entre a destinação dos recursos e os retornos anormais para as companhias estudadas. No entanto, os resultados obtidos com a amostra referente ao grupo de investidores que são partes relacionadas com a administração da empresa, mostraram-se compatíveis com o retorno anormal das ações no primeiro dia de negociação na bolsa. / This research deals with the relation between the destination of the funds raised with the public offerings in Brazil and the abnormal return on the first trading day of the asset on the stock exchange. The main objective was to analyze if the funding destination, as working capital, settlement of liabilities, acquisitions, financing of customers, and investment in production would be considered by the investors, since there is regulatory obligation on the disclosure of such information. During the period from January 2007 until December 2011 the total funding raised on the public offerrings in the Brazilian stock market was R$ 250,9 billion. The data collection process considered public offering prospects and other official papers registered on the Brazilian capital markets regulator - CVM, Comissão de Valores Mobiliários, website and also in the stock exchange (BM&FBovespa) website. Two distinct hypotheses were used, one for the funding destination and another for the investors profile, were tested against the abnormal return on the first day of trading. Multivariate data analysis was used to analyze the data. The evidences suggest that there is no relationship between funding destination and abnormal returns for the selected sample, but the investors\' relationship with the company\'s board members and abnormal returns seems to be relevant.

The impact of the 2012 higher education fee and funding regime on undergraduate decision making in England

Since the implementation of the 2012 fee and funding regime in England, that notably increased the maximum undergraduate tuition fees to £9000, the focus of policymakers and those in the higher education sector has been on student participation rates. Thus, to date little is known about the extent to which the 2012 fee and funding changes have affected students’ higher education decision-making. The purpose of this research was to explore students’ study mode, subject and institution choices under the 2012 fee regime, with the aim of contributing new knowledge in this area. To this end, a comprehensive approach to mixed methods was used to generate quantitative and qualitative data on students’ decision-making (Hesse-Biber, 2010a). Two methods were used to generate the data, which were questionnaires completed by 550 students and follow-up interviews with a sub-sample of 30 students. The students, aged 17 to 21, were from six schools and colleges across Greater London and in the final year of their level 3 qualifications (NQF/QCF). The timing of the fieldwork was pivotal to the research and generated data at a specific moment in students’ decisionmaking, after they had submitted a UCAS application (January 2013) and prior to the publication of their level three qualifications (August 2013), which has provided new knowledge of students’ responses to the increased costs of higher education. Informed by Hodkinson and colleagues’ theory of pragmatically rational decision-making (Hodkinson, Sparkes and Hodkinson, 1996), this research provides evidence that the 2012 fee and funding regime has altered and constrained students’ higher education choices. In terms of students’ study mode choices, despite policymakers expectations of increased diversification, the traditional mode of three years of full-time study towards a bachelor degree qualification in a face-to-face teaching and learning environment remains as highly, if not more highly, favoured, with some students avoiding four year courses (typically sandwich courses) to minimise costs. Over half of the students in this research reconsidered and altered their subject choices to those they perceived as improving their graduate employability. This decision was taken by students to ensure that the costs of participating in higher education were beneficial to their future career. The increased costs of higher education has also caused students to live at home whilst studying to reduce their debt and expenses, which was a decision disproportionately made by black and minority ethnic students from all social classes. The findings from this research provide new insights into students’ decision-making that contrast with prior literature, particularly in relation to trends by social class (Bates, Pollard, Usher and Oakley, 2009; Callender and Jackson, 2008; Reay, David and Ball, 2005; Usher, Baldwin, Munro, Pollard and Sumption, 2010). The research argues that the 2012 fee and funding ‘reforms’ have been counterproductive; as opposed to putting financial power into the hands of learners” (BIS, 2010, p.5), the ‘reforms’ have disempowered students by limiting their choices to those that are perceived as affordable.
