Grace and global justice : the socio-political mission of the church in an age of globalization, with special reference to Jürgen Moltmann, Stanley Hauerwas, and Oliver O'Donovan

Gibb, Richard January 2005 (has links)
This thesis seeks to explore two fundamental theological questions: first, what does it mean for the Christian community to conceive of itself as a community defined by the covenant of grace; and second, what are the implications of this distinctiveness for its socio-political mission in an age of globalization. The project is interdisciplinary in its approach, and seeks to integrate biblical and theological inquiry together with the specific opportunities and challenges found in a globalized world. Our way of organizing this thesis is attuned to the demands of argument and method of research employed. Divided into three parts, the thesis derives from a critical examination of a theology of grace and its ramifications for the mission of the church in addressing contemporary issues. Part 1 commences by surveying broadly Reformational theological scholarship from the turn of the twentieth century, and explores how this thesis will make a distinctive contribution to scholarly discussion of the church's socio-political mission through focusing on the central doctrine of grace. Part 2 constitutes a comparative analysis of three leading contemporary theologians evaluating to what extent a theology of grace is evident in their theological political theories. Part 3 is where we seek to apply our theological investigation with the phenomenon of globalization, and engage with international political theory through concentrating on the concepts of power and justice in an interdependent world. The conclusion reached in this thesis is that the doctrine of grace, by virtue of its theocentric and trinitarian emphasis on revelation, reconciliation, election, and creation, directs the Christian community in an age of globalization to be an agent of God's justice in the socio-political arena through demonstrating servant-leadership to contribute in enabling the world's poorest and weakest citizens to share in the benefits brought by a globalized world.

José Nilton Barbosa Lapa 16 January 2015 (has links)
This paper has as its goal to analyze the theme of Pastoral Care, its historical, theoretical and practical development based on the discourse of Faith and Grace and Psychoanalysis as a science of the subconscious and of clinical care, its structures and manifestations based on theoretical and practical resources of the Freudian and Lacanian theory. It points out the fundamental aspects of existing divergences and convergences in pastoral care and in psychoanalytical clinical treatment, underscoring the efficacy of both in tending to the need of those who suffer. Pastoral Care and Psychoanalysis are two distinct, different and complex paths in the life of those who decide to occupy the space of listening to the need in the form of discourse of those who suffer in the body and soul the lack of knowledge about their pain of existing, manifest by that which psychoanalysis calls symptom. Pastoral Care and Psychoanalysis signal two strands which are close to each other but also diverge. The first deals with spiritual and pastoral theology from the beginnings of Biblical revelation to our days. The second, of a scientific nature, deals with the science of the subconscious, its structures and manifestations. In this sense, we would say that psychoanalysis exists for those who wish to interrogate themselves. Its practice is related to questionings about one‟s being and one‟s living, to working with feelings, thoughts, perceptions and conflicts as manifestation of symptoms. In this reflection one seeks to understand Pastoral Care as an activity which is based on the integration of two strands of theology: spirituality and pastoral practice, seeking to tend to an identified need in the life of the one who is suffering psychologically or spiritually. We understand Pastoral Care to be an activity developed among the faithful on an individual or group basis, in the sense of responding to a request for help by these to help resolve or deal with aspects of their lives, or even issues of existential character which condition, bother them or make them suffer. Pastoral Care is sustained by the faith and the grace of the GREATER LOVE, in psychoanalytical treatment, that is, at the beginning of the analysis, is the transference, which, if well managed by knowing how to listen and by speaking well will make it possible for the subject in need to have a knowledge that can lead to a relief or maybe even a cure.

Is analyzed in this Pentecostal Protestant brotherhood formed mostly by people of middle class, the place of religious emotion and its relation to the education of the senses as offering the assimilation of a habitus and a strong self-control individual demonstrating the effectiveness of the training body through religion. Immersed in a social reality of many changes that cause reconfiguration of religions, in particular type of Pentecostalism studied note that, in the management of symbolic goods, the main ingredient is the emotional attachment to respond to collective and individual demands of public religious. If some years the central cultic of Pentecostal Protestantism was in listening to the sermon and relive the experience of the Christian Pentecost, today the focus here is the emotion that must cross the entire worship. The same occurs in two areas of catechetical privileged church, namely the meeting in the temple called "Knowing the Scriptures" and the meetings of groups in homes. This shift is evident also in the bodies of believers, because they build and shape to the existing social reality and express the experiences in this context. From the observation of religious and catechetical meetings of this church, in this work examines how the religious emotion is constructed, reproduced and distributed, taking into account the social and economic conditions specific to the religious group concerned.(AU) / O objeto de estudo desta pesquisa é a Comunidade da Graça, presente há dez anos em São Bernardo do Campo, região do ABC paulista.

The nature of the private initiatives and the control of the decisions of the Public Administration / La naturaleza de las iniciativas privadas y el control de las decisiones de la Administración Pública

Shimabukuro Tokashiki, Néstor, Alejos Guzmán, Oscar 12 April 2018 (has links)
Despite the evolution of the private investment promotion regime in relation to investment projects under private initiatives, there are many shortcomings in its regulation, especially at the evaluation stage, which creates serious disincentives for attracting private investors. One of these defects derives from its consideration as requests of graces and of how the Administration understands this type of petitions. Having this problem in mind, we propose a rereading of the nature of private initiatives to ensure that decisions taken by the Public Administration in this regard are subject to a true control of legality.
