Bränder vid Sveriges järnvägar : En kartläggning av potentiellt bidragande faktorer

Denna kandidatuppsats syftar till att ge insiktsfulla perspektiv på fenomenet järnvägsrelaterade bränder i Sverige. Syftet med denna studie är, genom dataanalysmedel, att utforska i vilken utsträckning tillåtna tåghastigheter, spårens lutning och omgivningen påverkar frekvensen av startade bränder i hela det svenska järnvägssystemet. Geografiska informationssystem (GIS) möjliggör denna studie genom utförandet av analyser över järnvägsnätet i sofistikerade dataprogram. Trafikverket och Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap (MSB) har levererat statistisk och geografiska data som är av yttersta betydelse för genomförandet av denna studie. Kvantitativa metoder och rumsliga analyser används för att undersöka hur sambandet mellan järnvägsrelaterade bränder och en rad yttre faktorer ser ut i Sverige. Resultatet som härstammar från denna studie tyder på ett kausalt samband mellan den största tillåtna hastigheten vid järnvägssträckor och frekvensen rapporterade bränder. Även ett varmare väder i allmänhet, och låg nederbörd i synnerhet, visar ett starkt samband med förekomsten av bränder. Det finns ett svagare samband mellan lutningen på järnvägsspåren och frekvensen rapporterade bränder. Denna studie baseras på rapporterade bränder, det är möjligt att det kan finnas bränder som inte observerats och rapporterats som kan påverka resultatet.

Οικολογική αξιολόγηση εκβολικών οικοσυστημάτων στον Πατραϊκό κόλπο με τη χρήση των Συστημάτων Γεωγραφικών Πληροφοριών (GIS)

Στην παρούσα εργασία πραγματοποιείται οικολογική αξιολόγηση των εκβολικών οικοσυστημάτων των ποταμών Εύηνου και Πείρου που εκβάλλουν στον Πατραϊκό κόλπο. Αποτελούν συνδυασμό χερσαίων και υγροτοπικών περιοχών με σημαντική οικολογική αξία και λειτουργίες. Ο Εύηνος σχηματίζει τυπικό δέλτα σε αντίθεση με τον Πείρο, στην περιοχή εκβολής του οποίου οι συνθήκες δεν ευνοούν μια τέτοια διαδικασία. Στόχοι της μελέτης ήταν: η καταγραφή και χαρτογράφηση των τύπων οικοτόπων στις επιμέρους περιοχές με τη χρήση των GIS, η μελέτη των ανθρωπογενών δραστηριοτήτων και των επιπτώσεών τους στη δομή των οικοτόπων, η εκτίμηση της κατάστασης τους με τη βοήθεια δεικτών οικολογικής αξιολόγησης και τελικά, η ανάπτυξη κατάλληλου διαχειριστικού σχεδίου. Για την πραγματοποίηση της εργασίας αυτής προηγήθηκαν επισκέψεις και στα δύο εκβολικά οικοσυστήματα, φωτογραφήσεις, καθώς και συλλογή και προσδιορισμός φυτικού υλικού από τους κυριότερους τύπους βλάστησης. Για την αναγνώριση των τύπων οικοτόπων χρησιμοποιήθηκε ο Τεχνικός Οδηγός Χαρτογράφησης του δικτύου NATURA 2000. Για την εκτίμηση της οικολογικής κατάστασης των εξεταζόμενων περιοχών εφαρμόστηκαν τα κριτήρια της ποικιλότητας, φυσικότητας, σπανιότητας, απειλής και δυνατότητας αποκατάστασης στο επίπεδο των οικοτόπων και των συνδυασμών τους σύμφωνα με την Οδηγία 92/43/ΕΟΚ. Επιπλέον, εφαρμόστηκε η ανάλυση DPSIR σε επίπεδο λεκάνης απορροής των υπό μελέτη ποταμών, με έμφαση στα εκβολικά τους συστήματα, με τη χρήση 45 δεικτών. Οι τύποι οικοτόπων, η αξιολόγηση με βάση τα κριτήρια και οι πιέσεις-επιπτώσεις σε κάθε περιοχή μελέτης οπτικοποιήθηκαν σε ψηφιακούς χάρτες με τη χρήση των GIS. Καταγράφηκαν 322 taxa στο δέλτα του Εύηνου και 225 taxa στις εκβολές του Πείρου, εκ των οποίων τα 112 είναι κοινά μεταξύ των περιοχών μελέτης. Πραγματοποιήθηκε περιγραφή και χαρτογράφηση 22 φυσικών και 3 ανθρωπογενών τύπων οικοτόπων. Οι κυριότερες αλλοιώσεις που καταγράφηκαν ως αποτέλεσμα της μακροχρόνιας ανθρώπινης παρουσίας είναι: η έντονη διάβρωση και οπισθοχώρηση της ακτογραμμής, η επέκταση των καλλιεργούμενων εκτάσεων εις βάρος των φυσικών και η έντονη ρύπανση των υδάτων. Από την αξιολόγηση προέκυψε ότι οι οικότοποι στις δύο περιοχές βρίσκονται σε μια μέτρια έως καλή κατάσταση διατήρησης, με την περιοχή του Εύηνου να λαμβάνει την υψηλότερη βαθμολογία ως προς τα κριτήρια. Το πλαίσιο DPSIR ανέλυσε την επικρατούσα κατάσταση και ανέδειξε τη σοβαρή υποβάθμιση που υφίστανται τα εκβολικά συστήματα. Συμπερασματικά, τα GIS αποτέλεσαν ένα σημαντικό διαχειριστικό εργαλείο, καθώς επιτρέπουν τη συνεχή καταγραφή των διαχρονικών αλλαγών και την εκτίμηση του βαθμού αλλοίωσης των δύο εκβολικών οικοσυστημάτων με σκοπό τη διατήρηση και την προστασία τους. / In the present study an ecological evaluation of the estuary ecosystems of the rivers Evinos and Piros flowing into the Gulf of Patras was carried out. They constitute a combination of terrestrial and wetland areas with significant ecological value and functions. Evinos forms a typical delta unlike Piros, in the estuarine region of which the conditions do not favor such a process. The objectives of the study were: the recording and mapping of habitat types in each area with the use of GIS, the study of human activities and their impact on the structure of habitats, the assessment of their state with the use of indicators of ecological value and finally, the development of an appropriate management plan. For the accomplishment of this study visits to both estuarine ecosystems, photography and collection and identification of the plant material from the main vegetation types was performed. For the identification of habitat types the Technical Guide for Mapping of the network NATURA 2000 was used. To assess the ecological status of the areas concerned the criteria of diversity, naturalness, rarity, threat and replaceability were applied, at the level of habitats and their combinations, according to the Directive 92/43/EEC. Moreover, the DPSIR analysis was applied at the basin level of the studied rivers, with emphasis on their estuarine systems. The habitat types, the evaluation based on the criteria and the pressures-impacts on each of the studied areas were visualized into digital maps using GIS. 322 taxa were recorded for the Evinos delta and 225 for the mouth of Piros, of which 112 are common among the study areas. Description and mapping of 22 natural and 3 anthropogenic habitat types was carried out. The main alterations that were recorded as a result of long-term human presence are: the intense erosion and retreat of the coastline, the expansion of cultivated land at the expense of natural one and the strong water pollution. Assessment revealed that the habitats in both regions are at a moderate to good conservation status, with the area of Evinos receiving the highest rating concerning the above criteria. The DPSIR framework analysed the present state and highlighted the serious degradation that occurs in estuaries. In conclusion, the GIS are an important management tool, as they allow the continuous recording of the diachronic changes and the evaluation of the degree of deterioration of both estuary ecosystems in order to conserve and protect them.

Geoprocessamento aplicado na distribuição espacial da capacidade do uso na microbacia do Córrego dos Rochas, Avaré (SP) /

Orientador: Sérgio Campos / Banca: Célia Regina Lopes Zimback / Banca: Osmar Delmanto Júnior / Resumo: O objetivo, deste trabalho foi a espacialização da capacidade de uso das terras da microbacia do Córrego dos Rochas, Município de Avaré-SP, obtida através da utilização do Sistema de Informação Geográfica - Idrisi, visando contribuir para uma melhor organização territorial e planejamento de uma adequado da ocupação do solo. Os resultados obtidos a partir da metodologia utilizada permitiram mostrar que a maior parte das áreas de terras da microbacia dos Rochas são formadas por solos pertencentes às unidades: LATOSSOLOS VERMELHO-AMARELOS (LVA52) Distróficos (36,64%) e LATOSSOLO VERMELHOS (LV4) Eutroférricos e Distroférricos (30,30%), apresentando textura arenosa. Quanto à declividade, houve um predomínio de áreas com classes de declive de 0-12%, relevo plano a ondulado (61,37%) da área da microbacia, mostrando que essas terras são propícias para o cultivo de culturas anuais, com amplo uso da mecanização. A maior parte das terras foi classificada como sendo da classe IV (73,79 %) de capacidade de uso, porém, foram encontradas as seguintes subclasses de capacidade de uso das terras: IIe,s; IIIe; IVs; IVe; IVe,s, VIe e VIIe. As subclasses de capacidade IVe; IVe,s, IVs e VIe foram as mais representativas, mostrando tratar-se de terras que podem ser utilizadas para fins agrícolas, próprias para lavouras em geral, ressaltando-se que, quando cultivadas sem cuidados 2 especiais, ficam sujeitas a severos riscos de depauperamento, principalmente quando os solos são utilizadas culturas anuais. O Sistema de Informação Geográfica - Idrisi mostrou-se eficiente na determinação da capacidade de uso das terras da microbacia do Bairro dos Rochas, Município de Avaré-SP, demonstrando que a utilização de ferramentas de geoprocessamento facilita e agiliza os trabalhos dos cruzamento de dados, permitindo o armazenamento digital... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo). / Abstract: In this context, the present work had a purpose the determination of the shart of land use capacity of the watershed of the Rochas in Municipal District of Avaré-SP, obtained through the use of Geographical Information System - Idrisi, looking for contribute to a better territorial organization and for the planning of a right occupation of the soil. The results obtained with the used methodology to show that the most of the areas of the watershed of the Rocha are organized by soil belonging to the units LVA52d (36, 54%) and LV4e (30, 30%) presenting textures that are sandy. About the declivity, had a predominance of areas with slope classes of 0-12%, plane relief to wavy (61, 37%) of the watershed showing that this lands are good to cultivate the annual cultures, with wide use of the mechanization. The biggest part of the lands of watershed were classified as being of the class IV of use capacity, but were found the following subclasses of capacity of land uses: IIe,s; IIIe; IVs; IVe; IVe,s, VIe e VIIe. The capacity subclasses IVe; IVe,s, e IVs (73,79%) e VIe (15,56%) were the most representatives, showing been about lands that can be used to agricultural ends, private to farming majority, jutting out that when cultivated without special cares, they stay in dangerous risks of impoverishment, mainly when the soils are cultivated with annual cultures. A ocorrência de eventos erosivos acelerados associados à implantação de sistemas de transportes é um dos principais problemas socioambientais enfrentados pelas concessionárias brasileiras. Feições erosivas do tipo linear e laminares são observadas tanto ao longo da plataforma, nos cortes e aterros, como fora dela, em caixas de empréstimo, áreas de jazidas exploradas, junto aos pés de aterros e jusante das obras de transposição. Em geral, na literatura, os estudos relativos às analises de dinâmica de desenvolvimento e ocorrência de processos erosivos, bem como o risco oferecido ao meio, estão inseridos nas abordagens ambientais teorizadas como Análise Integrada da Natureza e nas análises de riscos e suscetibilidades (hazards) subsidiadas pela Cartografia Geotécnica e Geoambiental, ambas amparadas pela utilização da ciência e sistemas de informação geográfica (SIG) em plataformas computacionais. Especificamente no campo de engenharia de transportes, tais abordagens estão relacionadas aos estudos das áreas de influência pertencentes aos traçados e domínios de empreendimentos lineares (rodovias e ferrovias) em operação ou em implantação, atuando como ferramenta de gestão e monitoramento frente a requisitos ambientais exigidos pela legislação vigente e almejados pelas concessionárias responsáveis pelas vias. Inserido no viés da problemática ambiental envolvendo o setor ferroviário, e no sentido de subsidiar processos de licenciamento ambiental e regularização de linhas férreas em operação, além de fornecer bases metodológicas para a implantação de empreendimentos futuros preocupados com a prevenção de problemas relacionados à erosão, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal a elaboração de um estudo que realize a análise do risco oferecido à linha férrea pelos processos erosivos identificados ao longo do traçado da malha. Através da utilização de informações espaciais em plataformas SIG, a pesquisa apresenta a aplicação de um conjunto de metodologias que compõem todo o procedimento, desde o registro dos pontos mapeados, espacialização, o fornecimento de mapas temáticos ambientais intermediários, a identificação de graus de suscetibilidade da área de estudo até a definição de parâmetros para a análise de risco dos processos erosivos em relação à linha férrea em análise. Os resultados fornecem a leitura das características analisadas para composição do indicador de suscetibilidade e a análise de risco (baixo, médio ou alto) de cada processo erosivo mapeado em relação à linha férrea. / The occurrence of accelerated erosion events associated with the implementation of transport systems is one of the main environmental problems facing brazilian concessionaires. Erosive features of linear and laminar type are observed both along the platform, in the sections and embankments, and outside in boxes loan areas explored deposits, at the foot of embankments and downstream of the works transposing. In general, studies on the analysis of dynamics of development and occurrence of erosion (and risks induced to the environment) are inserted in environmental approaches theorized such as Integrated Analysis of the Nature and analysis of risks and susceptibility (hazards) subsidized by the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Cartography, both supported by the use of science and geographic information systems (GIS) in computing platforms. Specifically in the area of transportation engineering, such approaches are related to studies of areas of influence belonging to the plan and domain of linear transport developments (roads and railways) in operation or in implementation, acting as a management tool and monitoring against environmental requirements by current legislation and sought by the concessionaires responsible for roads. Inserted into the bias of environmental issues involving the railway sector, and in order to support the processes of environmental licensing and regulation of railways in operation, besides provide methodological foundations for the implementation of future projects concerned with the prevention of problems related to erosion, the present work aims to prepare a study that performs the analysis of the risk concerned to the railway line by erosion processes identified along the plan line. Through the use of spatial information in GIS platforms, a set of methodologies that make up the whole process will be presented, from registration and spatial distribution of mapped points, provision of environmental thematic maps intermediaries, identification of susceptibility levels of the study area until parameters settings for risks assessment of erosion in relation to railway line analysis.The results provide the reading of the characteristics analyzed for composition of susceptibility indicator and risk analysis (low, medium or high) of each erosion mapped in relation to the railway line .

GIS Based Study of Probable Causes of Increase in Cancer Incidences in Iraq After Gulf War 1991

The use of banned toxic weapons in Iraq during Gulf War 1991 started new debates. The increase in cancer cases was the main focus of these issues. The gap in literature motivated this study to find out the correlation between use of DU weapons and its effects on human health. The different probable causes of increase in cancer cases, in Iraq after Gulf War 1991, have been discussed in this study. Three causes; DU, brick kilns smoke near Basra and Kuwait oil fire smoke have been selected. The major emphasis of this study is on use of Depleted Uranium (DU). Different statistical data sets have been used and displayed in the form of maps and graphs using GIS methodologies. It’s hard to say after this GIS based study that the fired Depleted Uranium is the sole cause of increase in cancer incidences in Iraq, while some trends and risk factors at least can be observed where increase in cancer cases in different Governorates in Iraq is clearly visible after Gulf War 1991. After analyzing satellite images of different dates, the second part of this study concludes that Kuwait oil wells smoke is not responsible for increase in cancer incidences in Iraq. A small debate has been initiated regarding smoke in brick kilns near Basra. No study has been found in this regard which can provide evidences that brick kilns smoke is the cause of increase in cancer incidences in southern Iraq. It’s not easy to carry out a full fledge GIS based study to prove DU as cause of increase in cancer cases. The main limitation in this regard is unavailability of required data. Therefore a new GIS based methodology has been devised which can be used to prove relationship between exposure to DU and increase in cancer cases in Iraq. This new methodology is also dependent on specific data sets. Hence this methodology also recommends the collection of specific data sets required for this study. At the end, a detailed study, with honesty, has been suggested to fill up the gaps found in literature whether use of Depleted Uranium in weapons is harmful for human health or not.

An Evaluation Of Clustering And Districting Models For Household Socio-economic Indicators In Address-based Population Register System

Census operations are very important events in the history of a nation. These operations cover every bit of land and property of the country and its citizens. Census data is also known as demographic data providing valuable information to various users, particularly planners to know the trends in the key areas. Since 2006, Turkey aims to produce this census data not as &ldquo / de-facto&rdquo / (static) but as &ldquo / de-jure&rdquo / (real-time) by the new Address Based Register Information System (ABPRS). Besides, by this new register based census, personal information is matched with their address information and censuses gained a spatial dimension. Data obtained from this kind of a system can be a great input for the creation of &ldquo / small statistical areas (SSAs)&rdquo / which can compose of street blocks or any other small geographical unit to which social data can be referenced and to establish a complete census geography for Turkey. Because, statistics on large administrative units are only necessary for policy design only at an extremely abstracted level of analysis which is far from &quot / real&quot / problems as experienced by individuals. In this thesis, it is aimed to employ some spatial clustering and districting methodologies to automatically produce SSAs which are basically built upon the ABPRS data that is geo-referenced with the aid of geographical information systems (GIS) and thus help improving the census geography concept which is limited with only higher level administrative boundaries in Turkey. In order to have a clear idea of what strategy to choose for its realization, small area identification criteria and methodologies are searched by looking into the United Nations&rsquo / recommendations and by taking some national and international applications into consideration. In addition, spatial clustering methods are examined for obtaining SSAs which fulfills these criteria in an automated fashion. Simulated annealing on k-means clustering, only k-means clustering and simulated annealing on k-means clustering of Self-Organizing Map (SOM) unified distances are deemed as suitable methods. Then these methods are implemented on parcel and block datasets having either raw data or socio-economic status (SES) indices in nine neighborhoods of Ke&ccedil / i&ouml / ren whose graphical and non-graphical raw data are manipulated, geo-referenced and combined in common basemaps. Consequently, simulated annealing refinement on k-means clustering of SOM u-distances is selected as the optimum method for constructing SSAs for all datasets after making a comparative quality assessment study which allows us to see how much each method obeyed the basic criteria of small area identification while creating SSA layers.

Gis-based Stochastic Modeling Of Physical Accessibility By Using Floating Car Data And Monte Carlo Simulations

The term physical accessibility has widely been used by geographers, economists and urban planners and basically reflects the relative ease of access to/from several urban/rural services by considering various travelling costs. Numerous accessibility measures, ranging from simple to sophisticated, can be found in the GIS based accessibility modeling literature. However, whether simple or sophisticated, one of the fundamental shortcomings of the current GIS-based accessibility measures is that they are generally calculated from a fixed catchment area boundary based on constant traveling costs such as Euclidian (bird-flight) distance costs or transportation network-based average speed costs (e.g. 50 km/h for main streets and 30 km/h for local streets, etc.). Although such deterministic approaches are widely used in GIS-based accessibility modeling literature, they are not realistic, especially due to highly variable speeds in road segments and uncertainty in the accuracy and reliability of the accessibility measures. Therefore, this dissertation provides a new stochastic methodology for GIS-based accessibility modeling process by using GPS-based floating car data and Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) that could handle variations in traveling costs and consider all possible catchment area boundaries, instead of one average or maximum fixed catchment area boundary. The main contribution of the research is that / the proposed physical accessibility modeling could handle uncertainties in transportation costs, create significant improvement on accuracy and reliability of accessibility measures in terms of catchment area boundaries and support decision makers who are supposed to deal with accessibility, location/allocation and service/catchment area related issues. The proposed stochastic methodology is implemented to a case study on medical emergency service accessibility, in Eskisehir, Turkey and the results of the deterministic and stochastic accessibility models are compared. The main focus of the case study is not to evaluate a specific accessibility condition in a detailed manner but to provide a methodological discussion and comparison between the deterministic and stochastic accessibility modeling process. With the implementation to a case study, it is shown that / the results of the proposed methodology are more realistic than the conventional deterministic approaches.

Spatial Decision Making as a branch of decision making science deals with geographically related data in order to achieve complex spatial decision problems. Fuzzy set theory is one of the methods that can be used to come up with these types of problems. On the other hand, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is one of the most powerful tools that we can use to accomplish spatial decision problems. Selection of the suitable site or land-use for the real estate is also a spatial decision making problem. When we consider the initial dynamics of the suitably located property from the point of view of value and potential we observe that the &ldquo / good location&rdquo / is the dominating factor. This study reports on the development of a kind of decision support system for locational suitability of settlements that integrates the fuzzy set (FZ) theory, a rule-based system (RBS) and GIS. This study is thought as the assistant for the property managers that are buyers and sellers. It can function as the property consultant for the buyers when they are looking for a property to buy and also it helps the real estate agencies to sell their properties. On the other hand, different scenarios of the potential areas according to the different user&rsquo / s preferences are depicted and they are joined and compared with the results of the vulnerability to earthquake hazards&rsquo / of the same area. Odunpazari - Eskisehir area is selected for implementation of the case study because of the data availability. As a result of this study, it can be said that most suitable property changes depending on the people&rsquo / s preferences. In addition, it is seen that most of the buildings that are locationally suitable are highly vulnerable to the earthquake hazards.

Crime analysis and police station location in Swaziland : a case study in Manzini

Thesis (MA (Geography and Environmental Studies))--University of Stellenbosch, 2006. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Criminal activity and police station locations have an inherent geography that needs to be understood in order for crime prevention strategies to be reasonably effective. This study analysed the spatiotemporal pattern of crime in the city of Manzini, in Swaziland, for the period of 2004 and determined suitable locations for future police stations. Four categories of crime were analysed. These were crimes against property, crimes against people, drug related crimes and crimes against public order. Five main analyses were performed namely: overlay analysis, proximity analysis, temporal analysis, morphological analysis, and accessibility analysis. The findings suggest that crimes against property are the most prevalent category of crime in Manzini with a prevalence rate of 84.2%. This category was followed by crimes against people (11.9%), drug related crimes (3.5%), and crimes against public order (0.4%). Landuses associated with transportation experienced the highest amount (22%) of crime in Manzini. There was a strong relationship between incidents of crime and areas with medium to high population density. The proximity analysis revealed that the highest concentration of incidents of crime was between 50 and 100 metres from alcohol serving establishments in Manzini. In a similar analysis, the proximity of incidents of crime to educational institutions was concentrated between 500 and 1000 metres whereas the proximity of incidents of crime to the Manzini police station was dominant between 250 and 500 metres. Of all recorded incidents of crime 87% occurred during the day while 13% occurred during the night. In areas of high-crime concentration such as the bus rank and the Manzini market, it was established that the structural layout of these areas promoted criminal activity. The accessibility analysis showed that seven police stations are necessary to ensure that people do not walk more than 30 minutes to the nearest police station in Manzini. The study concluded that crime prevention strategies would require the intervention of both the police and city planners to be reasonably successful. It also noted that the establishment of accessible police stations would complement the efforts of the police in their endeavour to combat crime in Manzini.

A ocorrência de eventos erosivos acelerados associados à implantação de sistemas de transportes é um dos principais problemas socioambientais enfrentados pelas concessionárias brasileiras. Feições erosivas do tipo linear e laminares são observadas tanto ao longo da plataforma, nos cortes e aterros, como fora dela, em caixas de empréstimo, áreas de jazidas exploradas, junto aos pés de aterros e jusante das obras de transposição. Em geral, na literatura, os estudos relativos às analises de dinâmica de desenvolvimento e ocorrência de processos erosivos, bem como o risco oferecido ao meio, estão inseridos nas abordagens ambientais teorizadas como Análise Integrada da Natureza e nas análises de riscos e suscetibilidades (hazards) subsidiadas pela Cartografia Geotécnica e Geoambiental, ambas amparadas pela utilização da ciência e sistemas de informação geográfica (SIG) em plataformas computacionais. Especificamente no campo de engenharia de transportes, tais abordagens estão relacionadas aos estudos das áreas de influência pertencentes aos traçados e domínios de empreendimentos lineares (rodovias e ferrovias) em operação ou em implantação, atuando como ferramenta de gestão e monitoramento frente a requisitos ambientais exigidos pela legislação vigente e almejados pelas concessionárias responsáveis pelas vias. Inserido no viés da problemática ambiental envolvendo o setor ferroviário, e no sentido de subsidiar processos de licenciamento ambiental e regularização de linhas férreas em operação, além de fornecer bases metodológicas para a implantação de empreendimentos futuros preocupados com a prevenção de problemas relacionados à erosão, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal a elaboração de um estudo que realize a análise do risco oferecido à linha férrea pelos processos erosivos identificados ao longo do traçado da malha. Através da utilização de informações espaciais em plataformas SIG, a pesquisa apresenta a aplicação de um conjunto de metodologias que compõem todo o procedimento, desde o registro dos pontos mapeados, espacialização, o fornecimento de mapas temáticos ambientais intermediários, a identificação de graus de suscetibilidade da área de estudo até a definição de parâmetros para a análise de risco dos processos erosivos em relação à linha férrea em análise. Os resultados fornecem a leitura das características analisadas para composição do indicador de suscetibilidade e a análise de risco (baixo, médio ou alto) de cada processo erosivo mapeado em relação à linha férrea. / The occurrence of accelerated erosion events associated with the implementation of transport systems is one of the main environmental problems facing brazilian concessionaires. Erosive features of linear and laminar type are observed both along the platform, in the sections and embankments, and outside in boxes loan areas explored deposits, at the foot of embankments and downstream of the works transposing. In general, studies on the analysis of dynamics of development and occurrence of erosion (and risks induced to the environment) are inserted in environmental approaches theorized such as Integrated Analysis of the Nature and analysis of risks and susceptibility (hazards) subsidized by the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Cartography, both supported by the use of science and geographic information systems (GIS) in computing platforms. Specifically in the area of transportation engineering, such approaches are related to studies of areas of influence belonging to the plan and domain of linear transport developments (roads and railways) in operation or in implementation, acting as a management tool and monitoring against environmental requirements by current legislation and sought by the concessionaires responsible for roads. Inserted into the bias of environmental issues involving the railway sector, and in order to support the processes of environmental licensing and regulation of railways in operation, besides provide methodological foundations for the implementation of future projects concerned with the prevention of problems related to erosion, the present work aims to prepare a study that performs the analysis of the risk concerned to the railway line by erosion processes identified along the plan line. Through the use of spatial information in GIS platforms, a set of methodologies that make up the whole process will be presented, from registration and spatial distribution of mapped points, provision of environmental thematic maps intermediaries, identification of susceptibility levels of the study area until parameters settings for risks assessment of erosion in relation to railway line analysis.The results provide the reading of the characteristics analyzed for composition of susceptibility indicator and risk analysis (low, medium or high) of each erosion mapped in relation to the railway line .
