Hållbar utveckling i bostadsföretag : En kvalitativ studie om privata fastighetsföretags förhållningssätt till hållbarhet / Sustainable development in housing companies : A qualitative study of private real estate companies approach to sustainability

Sandi, Kolo January 2023 (has links)
Abstract This study aims to carefully and thoroughly examine how private housing companies in Malmö consciously work towards promoting sustainability within areas facing socio-economic challenges. To gain an in-depth understanding of this subject, a qualitative research methodology was used, collecting empirical data through interviews with representatives from four prominent private property companies in the region. The study was analyzed and evaluated using a theoretical framework thoughtfully designed to encompass the comprehensive aspects of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic. This provided an opportunity to study how these companies actively contribute to and promote sustainability within these specific domains.   The results of the investigation reveal a clear and significant insight - private housing companies in Malmö prioritize ensuring economic sustainability as their primary objective, primarily seeking to maximize returns on their investments. It is evident that the economic dimension dominates the decision-making process and guides the investment strategies of these companies. Social and environmental sustainability receive less attention and are not given the same priority as economic profit. This challenges the overarching goal set forth in Agenda 2030 to provide affordable housing for all, where social and environmental considerations are fundamental components.

Förståelsen om FN:s globala hållbarhetsmål : Hur arbetar småföretag med FN:s globala hållbarhetsmål

Ayoubi, Hilal, Maher Ali, Ali January 2021 (has links)
The biggest challenge of the time today is climate change and its negative effects. One reason for many cases of political inequality, health risks and human rights inequalities is consumption and production patterns that lead to environmental degradation and injustice. Statistics from the Swedish Agency for Growth (2020) have shown that almost half of Swedish industry works with sustainable work. On the other hand, however, it is important to observe that the work towards sustainable development has expanded and become increasingly complicated to meet the latest conditions.  The purpose of this study is to investigate how highly the smaller companies value the UN's Global Sustainability Goals 12.4 in two different industries, and how they actively work to improve that work. The purpose has been fulfilled by the authors conducting interviews with two case companies, thus the authors have conducted a literature study in areas considered relevant. The study identified two key factors, the first key factor being that Gästrike Ekogas does not work on the basis of the global goals and therefore does not have values. In order to improve the work in sustainability, it has also been demonstrated that the business lacks resources. The other key factor identified by the authors is that St:Erik's vision is that they should be the obvious choice in sustainable community building, which indicates a lot that they have a serious value about sustainability. They also have the environment as a focus area, and which they work with constantly. As the business takes into account the chemical emissions and its consequences, and that St:Eriks also works constantly to reduce these emissions with the help of resources that exist within the business and with the help of third parties.  It has also been demonstrated that the activities in question should have the capability to combine new technologies, changes to practices, with new business models. In order for businesses to fortunately adopt and implement sustainable consumption and production, it is basically about demanding change in the organization's vision and education. Since St:Erik's products have a long lifespan, it was very important for them to relate to the UN's 12th global goals as it includes production and consumption.

Stadsodling som strategi för hållbar utveckling : En granskning av kommunernas arbete med fokus på stadsodling och hållbarhetsmål 13 och 15 av Agenda 2030 i Jönköpings län / Urban Farming as a Strategy for Sustainable development : An Examination of the Municipality work with focus on urban farming and the Sustainable development goals 13 and 15 of Agenda 2030 in Jönköpings County

Assmundsgård, Frida, Erdemli, Ilona January 2021 (has links)
The human race stands before tough challenges such as climate change and increasing strains upon the environment, which are linked to the rapid increase of a global urbanisation. This essay will study previous research in order to find correlation between urban farming and sustainable development, this to find answers to the previously mentioned challenges. The earlier research does not only study urban farming as a strategy towards the three levels of sustainability, economic, social and ecologic, but also as a motivated strategy against climate change. In the essay, 10 of the 13 municipalities of Jönköping County are studied through qualitative interviews. The focus of these interviews is to find out whether they have any urban farming within their cities and how they organise and work towards the sustainability goals within Agenda 2030, especially goal 13 and 15. The results of these interviews show that a majority of them have colony gardens which shows an interest from the populations towards urban farming, and the respondents have all been positive towards urban farming as a concept. A map of the area will be constructed with the gathered materials to further show where in Jönköping County urban farming exists. This shows us that despite both small and larger initiatives within the different areas there is still a long way to go to develop farming in the cities.

Miljöetiska perspektiv på offentlig upphandling

Anderson, Pia January 2020 (has links)
There are directives for how public procurement should be conducted, in terms of quality, price, non-discrimination, transparency, equal treatment, reasonable requirements and how environmental, social and labor law considerations should be taken into account. Public procurement must also solve societal problems with the aim of achieving the global goals, but despite these guidelines, environmental ethical problems still remain for how a purchaser should prioritize and evaluate between the social, ecological and economic responsibility in public procurement. The purpose was to investigate whether environmental ethics could make a significant contribution in highlighting and understanding the environmental ethical challenges, conflicts, gaps and considerations that public procurement faces and provide answers to how public procurement should ethically value different tenders in order to be able to choose the supplier that makes the greatest social, ecological and economic benefit to society with the aim of achieving the global goals. The conclusion is that doctor Olle Torpman's environmental ethical sub-issues make the ethical challenges, as conflicts, gaps and considerations that public procurement faces visible and comprehensible. The application of the ethics of sustainable development, specified by professor Mikael Stenmark, solves the environmental ethics problems and shows that an environmental ethics theory makes a significant contribution when it comes to providing answers to how public procurement should ethically value the social, ecological and economic responsibility in public procurement. The procurement authority has been commissioned by the government to amend the law on public procurement so that it is in line with the new climate law. I hope that this thesis can provide an environmental ethical perspective on public procurement. Keywords: sustainable purchases, sustainable public procurement, environmental ethics, evaluate sustainability in purchasing, sustainable development goals, public procurement shall solve societal problems.

To tell the heavy to the young : A qualitative empirical study exploring how a children's book communicating complex issues can be appropriately designed using a creative design process.

Ekengren, Elin January 2024 (has links)
This study examines how complex issues can be appropriately communicated to children aged 3-6 years through the empirical research of five illustrators. Based on the empirical findings, three proposals for spreads that convey complex issues in the form of the global sustainability goals in Agenda 2030 are created. The study also investigates which creative design process is most suitable to apply in the design. This is examined by comparing two predetermined models that frame the design process in relation to the illustrators' experiences and approaches. Based on the findings, an appropriate approach is applied to the study. The study concluded that framing the creative design process within predetermined frameworks does not appear to be beneficial. All illustrators use individual approaches tailored to personal preferences and past experiences. Regarding the communication of complex issues to children, all illustrators agreed that these are topics that can and should be communicated to children. An appropriate approach in communication was to achieve a balance between the simple and the complex. It also proved important to prioritize children's positive reading experiences and to ensure that the communication is characterized by hope for the future. Based on these results, the study has created its own proposals for materials that communicate the global sustainability goals in Agenda 2030.
