Voice Command for Google Map

Wu, Po-feng 18 May 2012 (has links)
In this research, we integrate the voice commands technique into Google Map. It means that we can control part of the movements for Google Map search without using the mouse or keyboard but with voice. Our voice command system is built on the client side. The biggest different between our system and state-of-the-art real-time speech processing system is that all the computation about the speech process always work on the client side. For our corpus, we choose the Top100 scenic spots in Taiwan and some specific control commands as our training data. In the experiment of our research, we make use of the different ways to train the acoustic models and design dictionary and language models to estimate the efficiency on our system. Actual usage in the system, we can move the map center to the specific location sequentially by voice command operations for location, control and coordinate. we estimate the overall search process time on some specific locations by different users. It spends 20.8 seconds in average which spends most of time in recording stage.

A Web Based Gis Mashup For Archaeology

Ozturk, Bulent 01 June 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Information technologies have achieved an important role in archaeology. The management, research and exchange of the large amount of data gathered from archeological sites needs the tools of information technologies. The web based GIS combines the advantages of both GIS and the Internet technologies. This system can be used as a tool that helps to support the management of information for archaeological sites and provides support functions for specialists. This web based system can hold many types of archaeological site data from small excavation campaigns to large sites. The system consists of a relational database, a web server, and a GIS mapping server. Google Maps Server is used as a GIS mapping server in this study. The client computers require only the availability of a proper browser that supports javascript and ajax technologies. With this system, Google Maps can be used as an archaeological research tool for everybody interested in archaeology. In a general, everybody can reach the system using their web browsers in order to search and retrieve information regarding archaeological sites. This system also enables specialists to upload, search and share archaeological data. The aim of this study is to provide easy and simple access to the GIS related archaeological site information in Turkey, using a web based and user friendly interface and share the information the information with specialists all over the world.

Ολοκληρωμένο σύστημα απεικόνισης κινδύνων πλημμυρών / Complete system depiction of dangerous floods

Νάκος, Βασίλειος 19 April 2010 (has links)
This Diploma Dissertation presents a complete system depiction of dangerous floods for the river Eurotas. The dissertation is separated in two units. In Unit 1 initially are represented certain introductive elements such as the definition and the causes of flood, the use of sensors, the decision support system. Also, we analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS), their architectures as well as their need of existence in the internet. Finally, we finish with a report in the technologies that we use and mention certain statistical elements. In Unit 2, the network gate that was materialised, filling the conditions that have been placed by Unit 1, is described. Particularly, we give a report in the network services that were developed, the way that they function as well as explanation of certain important code.

Development of an Interactive, Hands-on Learning Experience of the Google Maps API

Kale, Rushikesh Digambar 14 May 2010 (has links)
The project is to design and implement a Web application for realizing an innovative, hands-on interactive learning experience for the Google Maps API. This learning environment was developed based on a real-world Geographic Information System (GIS), the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Geospatial Information Support System. Significant efforts were invested not only in development of this GIS system, but also in the design and implement that turns the production system into a learning environment. The Web development aspect attracts computer science students, while the opportunity to learn GIS concepts in an interactive way to attract students from the geography department and the opportunity to learn the Google Maps API proves interesting to regular internet users. The Web learning system was given to a focus group whose feedback was collected through a survey. The survey results reveal a favorable response to the interactive, hands-on learning model and the Web implementation.

Measuring Impact of QoS on QoE in Mobile Web Services

Chowdhury, Md Kamal Hossain January 2012 (has links)
With the development of mobile web services, it is important to know for a service provider how Quality of Service (QoS) is related with the Quality of Experience (QoE) for the mobile users. Any change in the QoS could be reflected on the QoE. However, good QoS does not always provide good QoE. Thus, a proper combination of QoS and QoE results in a good user experience. Good understanding of QoS and QoE is necessary in order to achieve that. In addition, identifying the proper relationship between network level QoS and user-end QoE is extremely challenging task which requires the highest level of accuracy. In order to understand the relation between QoS and QoE in a web service, an Apache server was setup with Google Map Web Service. In the server side, QoS parameters- delay, jitter and service unavailability were introduced for an experiment. In the user end, QoE was examined by doing experiment with different mobiles. In this test, 18 different conditions were experienced by the user who marked their QoE. This experiment was designed to collect data from the user to examine the user QoE and network level QoS. The results show that without server end Apache QoS module the service might be unavailable in high delay and jitter. However, with the Apache QoS module the service is available in high delay and jitter even though it takes longer time to respond. For better QoE, the delay and jitter should be as low as possible. Moreover, better QoE is experienced in better mobile design. Good mobile receiver and resolution make the QoE higher. Lower quality mobile design cannot ensure good service even though the network level QoS is good.

Homage to Everyday People

Chun, Sang Ja 11 August 2011 (has links)
Influenced by an ever-growing sense of alienation with my homeland, I have been determined to discover through my art practice an ability to challenge conventional notions of home, identity, communication and miscommunication. Exploring these themes, I became increasingly aware of the parallels between everyday life and art practice. By creatively connecting with a diverse amount of local people and their communities, I fulfilled desires to discover a sense of belonging and generated opportunities for others to break through traditional social boundaries and roles.
